Two Roses

It was a Tuesday when Felix Rosier was born. Evan was excited, really excited. He'd finally have some better company at home. He had been at the Black household a lot to see Sirius and Regulus, courtesy of them being his cousins, so he had seen just how fun it was to have a brother.

However, Evan had also been nervous. Yes, he had seen how Sirius had treated his younger brother but that didn't mean he actually knew what to do. He'd only ever thought about how much fun they'd have; playing in the garden and with all the toys they'd have.

So not long after Felix was born Evan had gone to 12 Grimmauld place to ask Sirius about it. Sirius had told him so much about being an older brother, all about being able to wind them up and annoy the younger one. Though, for the years to come only one thing had stuck in Evans mind.

"You have to protect him with your life."

Evan did just that. Forming a close relationship with his younger brother.

Evan had started at Hogwarts. he had actually refused the night before his first day, not wanting to leave Felix on his own at home, but promised Felix he'd write to him Evan if Felix couldn't read properly yet.

During his first year he had become friends with his dorm mate, Barty Crouch Jr. Who, at first, Evan thought was very chaotic and loud but was able to grow to like it about him. He also met Pandora Malfoy, a small, blonde girl who freaked Evan out and Dorcas Meadowes, who was a year older.

Him, Barty, Pandora, Dorcas and Regulus became a tight knit group. They were always together and when they weren't they were all probably thinking of what they'd do when they were together later that day.

Evan never really brought up Felix, conversations never really called for it. But Regulus had of course brought up Sirius, him also attending Hogwarts, and Barty had strongly expressed his hatred for kids.

"They're always crying and complain about everything!" The brunette boy had stated.

Evan thought it was pretty hypocritical as Barty also complained about everything but he had decided to never bring it up around the boy as it'd give him something to complain about.

While Evan was at Hogwarts, he had never really thought about Felix. He had so much going on; homework, classes and his friends. He wrote letters but always forgot to send them. His mother had wrote a few times, letting him know Felix missed him but his replies were always the same four words.

"I miss him too."

Evan didn't go home for Christmas, choosing he'd rather stay at Hogwarts with Barty, whom had decided he didn't want to go home as he liked being at Hogwarts. Though Evan had a feeling there was a different reason.

Felix remembers the day his older brother had come home complaining about Sirius Black. It was in Evans fourth year. Felix was six, and Evan and their mother had apparated back from the platform. he could tell Evan was mad about something so waited some time for an explanation as to why.

Over the Christmas break that year, Sirius had run away from home. Regulus had refused to go, which Evan had mentioned while telling him. Evan was mad that Sirius had left Regulus in that house.

Both Rosier brothers were aware of the treatment Sirius received in that household and both knew Sirius needed to leave, but of course Evan had only focused on the part where Sirius had left Regulus and not forced him to run away with him.

Felix had tried to remind Evan that Sirius needed to leave, that it was dangerous for him to stay, but Evan was having none of it so the younger Rosier just gave up trying.

Evan had also told him that Sirius had decided that Regulus was no longer his younger brother nor was Evan his cousin anymore. That Sirius had made sure both boys knew about it.

"Can you believe it! He tells Potter that he's the brother he never had right in front of Regulus. Then proceeds to tell Pettigrew he's the younger cousin he wished he had." Felix recalled Evan angrily saying. "Of course, Lupin would have probably replaced you if him and Black didn't fancy the bullocks off of each other."

Oh yeah, Evan had found to calling Sirius by his last name.

This was probably one of Felix's favourite days from after Evan had started Hogwarts because Evan was actually home, and he was telling Felix about all the gossip he had wanted to hear.

He remembers finding out about Barty. Evan had never really told Felix about his friends, he later learned of Pandora and Dorcas. But when Evan told him about Barty, Felix knew Evan liked him as more than a friend. Even if he was only six. The way Evan spoke about him made it to obvious.

"He's beautiful Felix, I can't even describe him to you in words."

Evan had sworn Felix to secrecy. not that Felix had anyone to tell, but for some reason Evan was worried his younger brother would write to Barty and tell him. Felix did think about it but realised he loved his brother too much to out him to his crush like that.

During fifth year, Evan and Barty had finally gotten together. Evan had never been happier. He loved his boyfriend more than anything. and Barty loved him just as much. The two were inseparable.

Evan had decided to have Barty spend the summer at the Rosiers that year, and he did. Evan was worried at first, Barty had stated many times that he did not like kids. And Felix had only recently turned seven.

But all his worries went away the moment he walked in on Barty soothing Felix back to sleep after the younger boy had woken from a nightmare. Evan had vows to marry Barty one day. Even though gay marriage was illegal, he had been determined to find a way.

The three boys had spent the whole summer just having fun. They'd play hide and seek around the house when mr and mrs Rosier weren't home, they'd play out in the garden, Barty would teach Felix how to play piano and the three would spend a lot of time just drawing together up in Evans room, occasionally having drawing competitions which Evan would almost always win, after having mrs Rosier judge.

Evan would bake for them all the time, Barty even introduced the other two boys to some muggle shops that Dorcas had told him about. Felix would sit and watch as Evan gave Barty tattoos or Barty would give Evan piercings, they'd watch movies together and Felix somehow managed to convince Barty to watch rom-coms (which Barty would never admit, but secretly enjoyed).

It was Evans favourite summer ever and was devastated when it ended and the two older boys had to return to Hogwarts. Thankfully, Barty had demanded that Evan took him back the following summer and had taken to reminding Evan every morning so the blonde boy wouldn't forget.

"You have to protect him with your life."

Were the words that had replayed in Evans head as he got the mark.

"I'll never do anything to hurt you."

Were the words that had replayed in Felix's head as he stared at the skull and snake on Evans arm, tears streaming down his face.

The worst day of Felix's life was a Tuesday.

After Evan had gotten the mark he had sent Felix to live with their eldest cousin, Andromeda and her family. Evan and Barty had come to visit whenever they could but it wasn't easy.

Felix was stood in the kitchen when Barty had come to tell him the news.

"Evans dead." was all Barty had said.

Well. what Felix had assumed was all he said. He didn't hear anything after that. He dropped the book he was holding and collapsed to the floor. He had tried to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall as he wanted to seem brave in front of Barty, whom he had always looked up to. But he couldn't, the tears just fell, pooling down Felix's face.

He remembers Barty diving down and hugging him. Cradling the boy Barty saw as a little as a little brother close to him as the two cried. Evan was dead. His older brother was gone. Forever. He was never coming back. Felix didn't know what he was supposed to do, he needed Evan more than he needed anything else.

Evan had been murdered by an auror while on a mission, Alastor Moody to be more specific, or well Mad-Eye as he's called now. Evan had taken his eye out before the man killed him, that made Felix laugh a little every time he remembers the fact.

It took days for Felix to stop crying at just the mere thought of Evan. Barty had come to visit everyday, reminding Felix he still had him and promising he would always be there to protect him.

Evan had told Felix that Barty liked to lie.

Barty had disappeared not long after that. Felix didn't know where but years later had found out that he was sent to Azkaban, thus, after being told Barty had received the dementors kiss after escaping Azkaban and disguising as Mad-Eye to try to get a child killed.

Felix doesn't know if it's the fact that Barty kidnapped and disguised as Evans killer, or tried to get a child murdered that made him laugh a bitter laugh every time he remembers.

Felix had wanted to cry, he did. but he couldn't. He knew he should have expected it and now feels stupid for not doing so. Barty had gone insane after Evans death, he had tried to be there for the younger boy but the pain had gotten the better of him.

Felix had lost both his brothers.

"You still have me, I can promise you that I will never leave you" his boyfriend, Charlie Weasley, had told him after Felix had explained what had happened with Barty and Evan.

Felix believed him. And he was right in doing so. Charlie was the best thing Felix ever had, and was the only thing that Felix has left. He just wishes Evan and Barty could get to meet him.

Felix did have his best friend, Nymphadora Tonks. But unfortunately she passed away in the second Wizarding war, along with Remus Lupin, her fiancee or boyfriend. Felix can't remember. She had asked Felix and Charlie to take care of her son, Teddy, if anything was to happen to the two parents but unfortunately due to their jobs they couldn't. So left him in the hands of Harry Potter and occasionally go and visit.

Felix now lives a quiet life in a cottage in a meadow with his boyfriend, Charlie. He works with dragons, which he loves. But he'll never forget his older brother.

He will continue to talk about all the good times he had with him, and make sure people know the good side of his older brother, Evan Rosier.
