calm waters
Summary
Luna wakes in the early hours of the morning and drags herself down to the beach to watch the water.Eventually, someone joins her.

The water shifts along the shore, rhythmically moving back and forth—like lungs taking in air. Luna stands on the very edge of it—this close to touching, but not quite—breathing in deeply. The taste of salt settles on her tongue, another pleasant side effect of standing by the water. She watches as the sun dances across the waves, a ghost of a smile settled on her lips. The sun still hangs low in the sky, but even the small amount of light it provides is enough to make Luna glow. Standing outside, slightly cold from the light breeze tickling at her back, her toes in the sand—it's nice. Steady. She likes the calmness of the morning, before the rest of the world has woken up. When she can just be one with the water.

Water brushes her feet, and she steps back in time to catch the yawn from the woman who has just moved up beside her. Luna's smile grows wider.

"What are you doing up so early, Luna?"

"The nargles had brilliant timing, really—they woke me just in time. Look at the water, Gin."

Ginny smiles, moving back a bit and planting herself just behind Luna, freckled, muscular arms wrap around her waist. It's comforting in its familiarity.

"You had a nightmare?" A kiss to the cheek.

Luna hums. "That's in the past, now. The water really is quite beautiful, this morning. More than normal. Wouldn't you say?" She turns to face Ginny, a wave of adoration rushing through her.

Ginny meets her half-way, landing a kiss to her lips, now. It's soft, it's warm, it's lovely. Luna sighs into it, suddenly reminded of her infatuation with this woman.

"I adore the water as much as you do, dear—but let's go back to bed for now, yeah?" Ginny grabs one of Luna's hands and puls them back up the beach, into their house.

Luna has found she quite likes this, too. Likes her—Ginny.

She giggles as Ginny leads them to bed, peppering kisses along her shoulders, whispering sweet nothings into Luna's ears.

Luna loves her, wholly, truly. And when they finally disentangle themselves long enough to get out of bed, she'll tell her as much.
