A Living Boy's Life Shall Be Protected By A Fathers Will

It was a quiet night and no noise was made except for the slight crack at the end of the street. There stood a man who appeared so suddenly that if anyone had seen they would've fainted. He was quite an extraordinary looking man with a navy blue cloak and a matching blue pointed cap. His jet black hair went every which way over his scalp and he had round circular glasses placed on the bridge of his nose right in front of his hazel brown eyes. He had a rather thin figure, knobbly knees, and a matching thin face. This was James Potter. James took no notice to the eerie silence that crept over the street. If fact, he had always found it rather peaceful. The night was always calm and relaxing for those who hadn't taken notice to the ruined house at the end of the street like James just had in that moment. His eyed widened and he ran to the house he had made home. The inside of the house was even eerier than the street outside and it held an aura of evil.

"Lily! Harry!" He shouted and wasted no time running up the steps and into his sons room, checking the other rooms as he went. He stopped dead when he saw a familiar figure standing near the window. He looked rather old with silvery hair and beard that could've tucked into his trousers. He, like James, had on a cloak, but his was that of a lighter shade and he had matching buckled boots. His eyes were blue behind half moon spectacles and his nose was very crooked as if had been broken at least twice, "Albus Dumbledore," James said, trying and failing to keep the bitterness out of his tone.

"Ah, James!" Albus said turning toward James with a smile, "Were your travels well?"

"Where's Harry and Lily?" James asked, avoiding the question. Dumbledore's eyes turned sad.

"A wonderful witch Lily was, but she could not hold off Voldemort long enough," James went still. Voldemort showed up here? At Godrics Hollow? But how and when? A lump formed in James's throat.

"A-and Harry?"

"He was taken to his aunts," James clenched his fists.

"Harry is my son!" He spat angrily, "You have no jurisdiction over-!"

"Your son?" Albus interrupted calmly, "How can that be if your dead?" James took a step forward.

"Is that a threat?"

"Just merely the Ministry's judgement," Albus replied, "After all, why would they send you on a sudden two week trip unless they figured you were in trouble? With your absence from Godrics Hollow, the public would easily assume you were either taken hostage by Voldemort to force you onto his side or killed by Voldemort outside of the house," James wasn't sure what to say. If he tried to speak, he felt like he was going to say some not so kind things to this man. Instead, he took a deep breathe before turning on his heel, "Where might you be going?" James gritted his teeth and made his way toward the door.

"All I can say is that you better pray to whoever that Harry has not been found by Petunia, because if he is," He turned to glare at the old man, "I will have your head mounted and sent to the Ministry," He slammed the door behind him.

James closed his eyes and opened them to see a familiar street labelled Privet Drive. James and Lily hadn't been to Petunias house in years, but James knew well enough where it was. He glanced up to one of the branches to see a tawny owl staring back at him. He pulled out a long stick and with a slight wave some parchment and a quill appeared. The quill jotted on the parchment almost on it's own as James placed the stick back into his pocket. Once the parchment was folded and placed neatly into it's envelope, he held his arm out to the owl who rose off the branch and landed gracefully on it, "Can you take this to Sirius Lupin for me?" The owl gave a soft hoot of understanding before grabbing the letter with its beak and flying off. James looked down the street and narrowed his eyes when ge saw a bundle of blankets laying on the front porchof Number Four of Privet Drive, "Didn't even bother to place him in cradle or something. Nope, just gonna put him on the front door step with a bloody letter and expect them to explain stuff to him." He muttered angrily.

James made his way to where Harry lay and picked him up gently. As soon as he saw Harry, his anger turned into sadness. There, underneath a tuft of jet black hair, was a curiously shaped cut like a lightning bolt. As he made his way down Privet Drive, the tawny owl from earlier came fluttering down the street toward James with a letter tied to his leg. James sat on the sidewalk and placed Harry on his crossed legs before untying the letter from the owl and opening it up.

Dear James,

I'm glad to see you're alright. I have to admit, with all of the rumors floating around, I almost believed you were gone. I'm sorry about what happened to Lily, mate. I know you loved her. If you need a place to stay, Reggie said you can live at his. I would let you stay here, but I'm afraid we don't have the room. I'll be on my way to pick you and Harry up about the time you see this. Just wait for me outside Private Drive.

See you soon,

Sirius Lupin

It didn't take long for a familiar motorcycle to drop down out of the sky. The man riding astride it took off the helmet to reveal a familiar face.

"Padfoot," James said half exasperated, half relieved. Sirius Lupin had a slender body, bright blue eyes, and black hair that reached his shoulders with the front half of it tied into a ponytail at the back of his head. His outfit was a bit more normal looking than James. He had black laced boots, blue jeans and a black leather jacket over a plain grey t-shirt.

"I gotta say," Sirius said stepping off the motorcycle, "You look like crap," James laughed tiredly.

"Rough day," Sirius nodded understandingly and moved closer.

"Can I...?" Sirius glanced at Harry. James handed Harry to Sirius slowly as to not wake him. For a few moments the two stood there unsure what to say. Sirius tucked a strand of Harrys hair away from his face.

"We should get going," James whispered softly. Sirius nodded before passing Harry back to James and looking into the glove compartment. He pulled out a baby sling a handed it to James who took it gratefully. After they made sure Harry was secure, they both stepped onto the mororcycle and sped off.
