I cracked open my eyes, stifled a groan and sat up.
The full moon had done a number on me, I realized while moving. My body was all sorts of wrapped up and hurting.
“Shh.” Sirius knelt down next to me with something in his arms.
“What’s that?” I asked, my voice rough.
“Tonks had our baby last night.” He softly announced.
I gasped.
“She did?” I tried to get myself closer to him.
“Called right before you went into the transformation. Andy is helping her rest in our guest bedroom, but she wanted you to meet our son.” Sirius angled the blanket, and I saw small brown curls and a tiny face.
“Oh my world.” I gasped.
“What shall we name him?” Sirius asked gently, guiding me into holding our son.
“A boy?” I looked at the small baby with all the wonder in the world.
“Our son, yes.” Sirius wrapped his arm around me and helped me support his weight.
“Teddy.” I decided.
“Teddy Remus Lupin.” Sirius rested his chin on my shoulder.
“Edward after Tonk’s father. He’s been such a help with her surrogacy.” I explained.
“Our little Teddy.” Sirius brushed his thumb over our son's face.
His face was red, though tan showed through the blush. His skin was softer than silk and when either of us brushed our fingers across it he scrunched his little face.
“Ours.” I started to cry.
“You alright?” Sirius seemed a little worried.
“We have a son. A little baby who is ours to love. How could I not be happier?” I sobbed softly.
“We’ve waited over fifteen years for this.” Sirius kissed my temple. “Our little one is ours to raise and hold and keep. We’ve earned this.”
“Oh, has Harry met him yet?” I looked at him with joy in my tear filled eyes.
“I’ll summon him.” Sirius slipped from the bed, leaving me alone with my baby.
Slowly I laid him down on the middle of the bed and rested beside him.
I let him hold my finger as he soundly slept.
“Moony?” Harry stepped into the room.
“Come.” I waved him closer.
“He’s so tiny.” Harry gasped as he crawled into the bed.
“You were too at this point. Your dad was so startled how tiny you were he couldn’t stop crying.”
“You’re crying too.” Harry pointed out.
“I think I finally understand him.” I smiled.
“His name?” Harry looked between us both.
“Teddy Remus Lupin.” Sirius hummed, a hand resting on my back as he spoke.
“Hello Teddy. I’m your brother. I’m Harry.” Harry laid down on the other side of Teddy, and my son took his free finger.
“I love you Teddy.” I kissed his head, relishing in how soft he felt.
“We all love you.” Sirius added, slipping behind me and wrapping himself against my back.
“Welcome to the family, baby.”
