path to healing
The burrow was eerily quiet, it's not the same without him the thought tightening his chest. The battle was won 2 days ago, everyone was numb the lack of laughter and explosions is depressing. the silence is deafening. he had lost so many people, Fred, Lavender, Tonks, Remus. Poor Teddy loosing who he needs most before he can even remember them, just like me, I'll never let him forget them. he promises himself. the midnight moonlight seeps though the window, lighting the room slightly, his eyes adjust to the dark living room as he tiptoes in. his eyes catch a flash of red, she sits curled up like a cat on a plush armchair, tub of ice cream cradled in her lap, fork sitting haphazardly on the rim of the tub. He stands there watching her for a few minutes, the moonlight lighting her face in the most beautiful way, just further reminding him of how much he had missed her. Her deep chocolate brown eye flicker up, spotting him.
"you know its rude to stare " she quietly calls out
flushing a deep Shade of red he perches on the arm of her chair
"fork?"
"yeah, the spoons were all dirty" she responds simply
he thinks back to the pile of dishes in the kitchen sink that no one has bothered to do I'll do those later I guess
"Want some?"
"wha- oh yeah, thanks"
the pair eat in comfortable silence, sharing ice cream on a single fork, thinking over the past year
"It will get better" she says, as if reading his mind
And in that moment he knew that they understood each other perfectly. She was right, it will get better because they had each other. that was all they needed for there path to healing
