The aggressive and fast paced stomping of heels on concrete, at a tempo of about 120 beats per minute (bpm), could be heard from a mile away. The frantic and fairly annoying stepping was coming from none other than Caitlyn Kiramman.

It was 8:23 a.m. and Caitlyn had not woken up to her 6:20 a.m. alarm. Now she was late to getting her morning coffee, which she usually retrieved by 8:25 a.m., and in turn will likely be late for her first class of the day, which she usually arrives to around ten ‘till 9.

She got to the campus café at 8:27 a.m., too late for her liking, but she went on with her normal routine. She went up to the counter, ordering her usual iced chai latte with almond milk and vanilla. She then turned on her heels and power walked straight out the door.

It was now 8:34 a.m. and she wasn't even close to the building she needed to be in, so she power walked faster. Furious stomping at a tempo of 135 bpm can make it quite hard to notice your surroundings. Caitlyn realized that when she plowed straight into somebody, black coffee spilling all over her white blouse. Thankfully, her tea did not spill, but she was irritated nonetheless.

“My apologies, I wasn't watching where I was walking,” Caitlyn huffed unhappily in her British accent, which would have been more charming if she were not drenched in black coffee.

“No worries. I was in a rush too, so I guess we're both at fault,” the person who bombarded her replied in a feminine voice.

Caitlyn lifted her head at the almost heavenly sound and locked eyes with a slightly shorter woman. The woman was about 5’7 or 5’8, Caitlyn would've guessed. She was strong too. Large, muscular arms and lord knows what else. She had long, spiky, deep magenta hair that was shaved on the left side. Her eyes were a light grayish-blue color that reflected almost everything. She had piercings. One silver hoop in her left nostril and two cuffs of the same color in her upper left ear. She wore a white cropped skin-tight tank top, the neckline of which higher up than average. She wore a pair of baggy black jeans and had a red flannel tied around her waist. She wore dirty and extremely broken in black converse. She was also well accessorized, sporting a silver chain around her neck along with a silver ring for every finger that Caitlyn didn't bother to fully examine because she did not want to seem creepy.

“I-it’s quite alright,” Caitlyn managed to get out.

The woman let out an awkward chuckle. “Sorry about your shirt. I owe you a new one.” She extended her hand to Caitlyn. “I'm Vi, by the way.”

Violet’s first class is at 9 in the morning. It is now 8:30 a.m. and she had just woken up. She curses herself as she quickly climbs out of bed, realizing she forgot to set her alarms last night.

She ran to the bathroom and quickly brushed her teeth and hair before running back out and frantically digging through her closet. She picked the first thing she could find, grabbed all her jewelry, and shoved them in her back pocket. She could put them on while she was walking to class. She then quickly poured straight black coffee from her fridge into a plastic to-go cup.

Vi frantically grabbed her bag and rushed out the door of her apartment, jogging across the campus. After a while, she decided she was close enough to the literature building that she could resort to power walking.

She sighed and rubbed her temples as she rushed towards her class, thinking to herself, how stupid am I? She dropped her hand from her face and the second she looked down at the ground she collided with someone.

Her coffee spilled all over the poor woman’s white blouse and she instantly felt terrible. As she took in the aftermath of the collision, she also took in the woman's appearance. She was tall. Around 5’11, maybe even 6’0. Vi didn't know. She was lean, too. She had long navy blue hair and bright cerulean eyes. She wore sleek black pants and a white, now brownish, button up blouse with a black unbuttoned blazer over it. She also had some very nice breasts. Vi cursed herself internally at the thought. Seriously, Vi?

She blinked quickly when she heard the woman speak up. “My apologies, I wasn't watching where I was walking.”

She was British. From where exactly? Vi had no idea. The accent was very charming though.

Vi cleared her throat and spoke up, “no worries. I was in a rush too, so I guess we're both at fault.”

“I-it's quite alright,” the woman replied quietly.

Awkward. Vi could work with that.

She smiled and let out a soft chuckle. “Sorry about your shirt. I owe you a new one.” She then extended her hand to the woman in front of her. “I’m Vi, by the way.”

The woman slowly took her hand, giving it a firm shake. “Caitlyn.” Her expression stayed the same, almost stoic.

Caitlyn. Caitlyn… Caitlyn… Such a nice name.

Vi sighed softly and pulled out her phone. “Give me your number so I can get you that new shirt, yeah?”

Caitlyn’s eyes went wide. “Y-you really don't have to-”

“No,” Vi stopped her and held her phone out once more. “I'm replacing it for you, okay?”

Caitlyn reluctantly nodded and took Vi’s phone, typing her number and name into the contact information and pressing save. Once Vi had her phone back, she pocketed it and smirked at Caitlyn.

“See ya, Cupcake,” Vi said before she abruptly ran off.

As Caitlyn sat in her music performance class she continued to wonder about the woman she had just ran into. The woman who called herself Vi. The woman who spilled coffee all over her blouse. The woman who was actually incredibly attractive. She ignored that thought.

As she was packing up her things, her phone buzzed on the music stand. When she picked it up she saw a number she did not know.

What's the brand of that shirt? Want to get the right one ;)

It's Vi.

Caitlyn smiled to herself and replied back.

It's a Ralph Lauren. I do not expect you to buy it. I don't expect anything from you.

Vi

It's no problem.

Are you sure? It's quite pricey.

Violet sat in her History of American Literature class contemplating every decision she’d made in the past hour. She woke up late, spilled coffee on a hot girl, completely ruined all chance of ever getting a date with said hot girl, and ran off before they even had a full conversation.

She groaned and hid her face in her hands. “Why am I so stupid?” she wondered. Vi lifted her head and rubbed one eye with her pointer finger. She glanced over to her phone that lay face down to her right. She reached out and flipped it over, looking at the time. 9:15. She smirked to herself. “Perfect time to text her,” she thought delusionaly.

She unlocked her phone and opened her messages. She thumbed the small blue icon in the upper right and corner and typed “Caitlyn” in the text box that popped up. She then clicked the blue highlighted contact right below the box and began typing a message. She nodded when she thought it was smooth enough and hit send.

She set her phone back down, not expecting a response from Caitlyn anytime soon, so she went back to focusing on her professor. She's a very boring woman. The standard millennial English teacher vibe. Cardigan and all.

Vi’s attention was pulled away not even two minutes later when her phone buzzed.

Vi smirked and rolled her eyes as she looked at the message, thinking this girl was foolish to not accept the offer, and also quite stubborn.

Just as she hit send, the professor dismissed the class, so she stood up and began gathering her belongings. It didn’t take long before she was out of the building and on her way back to her apartment.

As she made the long walk back, she thought about Caitlyn. Her long navy blue hair, her bright blue eyes, her lean and curvy figure. She was definitely a sight for sore eyes.

As she entered her shared apartment, she heard the sound of gunshots, very likely from a video game. She walked in and shut the door behind her, locking it.

“Jinx, is that you?” she called out.

“Yeah!” a feminine voice called back.

Vi passed through the small kitchen and into the living room, where her bright blue haired sister sat on the couch playing Fortnite.

Vi smirked and leaned against the wall, crossing her arms. “Do you ever stop playing those dumb video games?”

Jinx let out a chuckle, “nope.”

Vi rolled her eyes playfully and plopped down on the couch next to her sister. She let out a soft sigh and glanced over to Jinx, who was completely enveloped in the video game.

Vi gazed down at her hands before having, what she would consider, the dumbest idea of her life. In other words, an epiphany. Vi reached into her back pocket and pulled out her phone, unlocked it, and opened the conversation between her and Caitlyn. She let out a sigh as she stared at it, contemplating her ideas. She then turned to Jinx.

“I met this girl,” she started with a sigh.

Jinx raised an eyebrow and paused her game. “You did?”

Vi nodded in response.

“And?” Jinx questioned.

“And I think I want to ask her out,” Vi admitted.

Jinx nodded, taking a moment to think it over. “I think you should do it.”

Vi raised her head, looking her sister in the eyes. “Really?”

Jinx nodded firmly, unpausing her game and returning to playing. “I mean, the worst she could do is say no.”

Vi nodded. “But,” she stared hesitantly. “What if it goes well and she expects like a real relationship. I've never been in one before. I don't know if I'm ready for that…” she admitted.

Jinx set her controller down and looked Vi in the eyes. “You like her?”

Vi nodded weakly.

Jinx smiled softly in return. “Then just let it happen, Vi.”

Jinx then returned to playing Call of Duty, leaving Vi with her thoughts. Vi sat there for a moment just thinking before she slowly began typing a message. She typed, backspaced, typed again, backspaced again, typed one last time, and read it over. It seemed decent enough, right? She took in a deep breath, let it out, and hit send.

Hey, Caitlyn. I was wondering if we could meet up somewhere tomorrow and I could give you the shirt?

Maybe like a date?

It doesn't have to be a date if you don't want it to be.

It's just a suggestion.

Caitlyn’s eyes went wide as she read over the messages. She certainly did not expect this. She didn't even know what to do. Should she go out with a woman she doesn't even know? Well, isn't that the point of dating? To get to know someone? She groaned and buried her face in her hands.
