Chapter 4
Hermione watched as James foo back home. Draco and her told him they would get past this, that they wouldn’t abandon him again, that things would be ok and they all would move past this.
She didn’t know how they were going to handle this. It was so hard to be around him now, she didn’t know how this had happened, well she did know, it wasn’t any of their faults. She tried to explain to Draco that these feelings would never go away, they couldn’t.
He had told her to drop it, that it didn’t matter. That it wouldn’t matter, no matter what, no matter the soulmate bond that was between all three of them, they would bury these feelings.
When Hermione had first started dating Draco, she knew she had found her other half. She couldn’t believe it at the time, when their feelings for each other started to change.
He was the boy who bullied her, made her feel less than all throughout Hogwarts. How could he of all people make her feel so complete?
It didn’t happen fast, not at all, they had ran into each about 15 years after the war had ended. She had been broken up with Ron for about ten years, she was making a fast track through the minstery, hoping one day to be minister of magic.
She couldn’t believe it when she saw him, in the muggle world of all places. She hadn’t seen him for years, no one had.
Shortly after his trail, he just disappeared. So when she was coming back from a visit with her parents, whose memories she had restored shortly after the war, she was surprised to see him just drinking coffee casually at a coffee shop near the entrance to diagon alley.
She had been taken aback and years later she still felt the shame of thinking he was up to something. She had followed him around for weeks, cloak out in glamours.
He caught her of course, she hadn’t known how he had, he had admitted later on their first date together that he knew the smell of her by heart.
After he had caught her, things changed. Anytime she would visit her parents, she would stop by that coffee shop and they would just talk.
He had gave so many apoliuzes to her, it took her a while to forgive him or course, but once she had everything seem to fall into place.
She had learned that he came to the muggle world often, but still had a place in their wizarding world. That he had lost most of his wealth after the war, that he had cut ties from his family because his father views would never change.
She had heard shortly after the war, after Lucious Malfoy was thrown in Azkaban for his crimes that Narissca Malfoy had taken her own life.
When she brought up to Draco how sorry she was for his mother passing, he screamed at her. Told her it wasn’t her business. That he didn’t need her pity.
She hadn’t understood his reaction and when he stormed off, she thought for sure she would never see him again.
She hadn’t for almost a week, when she felt his loss so loudly from her life, she knew without a doubt she was in love with him.
She had went to the ministery and searched for his address, when she found him he was so drunk he could barely stand.
He tried to push her away, tell her to leave but she stood her ground.
He cried into her arms, he begged to know why his mother would do that….after everything he had done to keep her safe, getting branded by a madman in order for her to see another day.
Hermione didn’t know what to say to that, she just held him and she knew something had shifted in the both of them.
They both needed each other, that these feelings would never go away.
They had kept the relationship a secret for about a year, she knew she had hurt Draco by doing this, she just knew what people would say. The things Harry and Ron would say and she didn’t want to hear it.
Even though he made her feel whole, they both knew that something was missing….Something
Meaningful and deeper. They didn’t know what it was until they both started feeling differently towards James three years ago, sensing a deeper connection.
She smile to herself as she came and took the seat next to Draco, he had his head in his hands.
“We really shouldn’t be surprised that it is him, you know? He has always been our biggest supporter.” Hermione said as she rubbed Draco back.
“It…. It doesn’t matter, ok. We can’t…. We just can’t Hermione. I know we can’t help our feelings and they will never go away, but we must bury this…. We have to.” Draco told her.
“Draco, he is our soulmate…”
“I don’t care! It doesn’t matter, the bond doesn’t force us together and you know it. He will be fine…. This will be fine.” Draco told her.
“That’s not true! You felt how much he was hurting these past three years! How much we hurt him! He has a right to know, to make that choice on his own!” Hermione snapped out.
“It doesn’t matter, look we came back because of that but not because we are going to pursue anything. We will go back to how we have always been, we will encourage him to find someone…. When he does the bond will break on his end and he will think the connection was just a phase.” Draco said.
“They won’t go away for us though and you know he will never feel truly happy and we will still know it’s there…. How.” Hermione tried to say.
“That’s our burden to bare Hermione…. We have to do this…. For him. Please Hermione. He can never know the truth, ok?” Draco begged.
Hermione eyes filled with tears and gave a small nod.
