The crowd is definitely having the time of their lives; throwing bottles of beer on the stage, bras on every one of them, Remus even got a phone number at some point while he was kneeling and strumming along the music. The rush, the fire glowing inside him, the need, the quick breaths, the stolen looks, the deafening sound of his heart crashing against his ribcage. He’ll never get enough of that.
James is up for his solo, he stands up a glorious smile stretched upon his face, he’s so sweaty he looks like he just came out of a shower. Weirdly enough, Remus enjoys the show much more than usual.
A few girls and guys scream for him front row, James winks and turns his face to look at Lily behind the stage and sends her a kiss. Everyone in the stadium swoon and applause, begging for one. But James, being James, leans in the mic and says, “Sorry mates, my heart is already taken.”
Remus rolls his eyes and walks toward his water bottle, taking time to take in the view. A crowd full of everyone. Literally. Teenagers, mothers, fathers, uncles, grandmas, grandpas. Everyone made the trip, from everywhere around the world.
Just for them.
“‘Right, enough of that, Lover Boy!” Sirius smirks in his mic, gripping his glass of whisky with a strong and firm hand.
Remus doesn’t have to imagine what’s under his sleeves, he already knows. His arms are full of stars, and just below the shoulder, he has a moon tattoo. He can’t let his gaze linger. Not since Remus broke things off, too scared of what people might think if two of their favorite members of their favorite band were dating. He didn’t have the guts to tell Sirius. So he just made up a lame excuse about their love story being a mistake. What a fool. Not a day has passed since Remus hasn’t regretted his decision.
A chill goes down his knees as he watches Sirius take a sip off his glass, then lick his lips. His round and full lips. Wet with the alcohol he just drank. Remus isn’t even drunk, and yet he feels dizzy.
He blinks a few times and realizes James has started his drums solo. James always looks good. But he looks even better when he’s behind those drums, his eyes close as he feels the music and hears the crowd responding to his incredible and perfect solo.
Remus turns to Lily and mouths, “Hot, right?”
Lily blushes, then bites her lips and mouths back, “So fucking hot.”
When James finishes his solo, Sirius walks toward him and claps him on the back, grabbing his sides and hugging him so fiercely, Remus can feel it in his bones. What he would do to have Sirius crushing him like that.
Unfortunately, the show is coming to an end and Remus can’t even think of one thing that would make Sirius acknowledge him right now. He’s tried everything. Even kneeling didn’t work. Sirius simply ignores him.
“Soooooo,” Sirius squeaks in his mic, his voice reaching a higher octave – just like it does when he’s about to–
No.
NO.
Remus shakes his head, putting his bottle down next to his mic. No fantasizing about your ex-boyfriend on stage, he says to himself.
“-another one?” Sirius raises his hands up, smiling fondly as he watches the crowd react happily to his words. “Right, right.. I might have a surprise just for you, Wembley!”
Remus frowns. A surprise? All he knows is that Sirius sent him a sheet of music notes last night to learn for today, which he did by the way, but he never spoke about it being a surprise. He just thought those were some chords to play along to as they closed the show. In a moment of doubt, Remus searches James’ gaze, but strangely James won’t look at him. He’s looking everywhere but at Remus.
“This is called Silver Spring!” Sirius nods, grabbing the mic. Remus focuses on Sirius’ rings and starts strumming his guitar chords when his ex-boyfriend raises three fingers. Alerting them to start playing. He closes his eyes and starts singing a song Remus has never heard before.
“You could be my silver spring
Blue-green colors flashin'
I would be your only dream
Your shinin' autumn ocean crashin'
Don't say that he’s pretty
And did you say that he loved you?
Baby, I don't want to know,”
Sirius steps out and swings to the music. He lets the lyrics get to him, something he never does. And Remus can’t seem to look away. He’s mesmerizing. Out of the ordinary. That’s Sirius Black for you. The way the words simply pour out of his mouth, almost slurring them and twisting them off his tongue to make them his own.
“So I'll begin not to love you
Turn around, see me runnin'
I'll say I loved you years ago
Tell myself you never loved me, no
Don't say that he’s pretty
And did you say that he loved you?
Baby, I don't want to know,”
The lyrics hit Remus like a ten ton truck. Slowly, Remus understands. He knows why James wouldn’t look him in the eye. He knows why Sirius sent him the sheet without saying anything. He knows because the song is about him.
A few years ago, Sirius and Remus were lying on the floor of their dorm room, back in college, and he remembers vividly the way Sirius wouldn’t stop staring at him. Remus, back then, thought it was because he had something on his face. Now, looking back at this memory, he can’t help but want to punch himself in the face. What a dumbass. The following day, as they drank themselves under a table, Sirius leaned in and told him he loved him. Remus can recall the way his insides had twisted and how he almost threw up all over Sirius. He was so whipped. Even back then. Not enough to realize what was in front of him.
Remus gulps as he slowly realizes how bad he fucked up. Sirius wrote a fucking song about the break-up. And the worst part is that Remus can’t blame him for painting him the bad guy. The breakup was so sudden.
All Remus said to Sirius as he moved out of their apartment (the one they shared since they’d left college years ago) was; “I can’t do this.”
Remus can’t tear his gaze away from Sirius, who’s slowly turning around and for the first time since the beginning of the show look right at him.
“Oh no
And can you tell me was it worth it?
Baby, I don't want to know
Time cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me
I know I could have loved you
But you would not let me”
Remus, any semblance of common sense gone, slowly steps toward Sirius, his hands strumming the guitar chords with the force of a sailor sent to sea to die. He watches as his ex-boyfriend drags the mic stand and leans in, screaming the lyrics in the mic as the whole stadium erupts in applause and cheer.
This, Remus thinks, would be such a heavenly way to die. Being embarrassed in front of a whole stadium. By the love of his life.
“ Time cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me
I know I could've loved you, but you would not let me
I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you
Give me just a chance”
On those last two lyrics, Sirius’ voice breaks down, a few tears streaming down his pretty face. Remus can’t help himself, he reaches and wipes the tear away. Sirius gazes at him like he hung the moon up.
“GIVE ME JUST A CHANCE!” Sirius suddenly belts, tearing his face away from the mic as he wipes his nose on his sleeves and wipes the remaining tears away. He looks so pretty under the fabricated lights of the stage. Remus wants one thing, he wants to throw his guitar on the floor, drags Sirius away and steals him from the rest of the world.
“You'll never get away from the sound of the person that loves you,” his voice shakes in the words and Sirius’ lyric causes the stadium to scream in delight, a few of their most cherished fans front row crying and raising a firelighter in the air as they swing to the music.
James uses that pause in Sirius singing to drum as hard as he can, sending an apologetic smile toward Remus while mouthing, “Better remorse than regrets.”
“Was I such a fool?
I'll follow you down til' the sound of my voice will haunt you
Give me just a chance
You'll never get away from the sound of the person that loves you”
Remus takes the final step, reaching Sirius. He lets James paly on his own, raising Sirius’s chin up and smiling at him.
“NEVER GET AWAY! NO!” Sirius pours his entire heart into the music as he frowns at Remus.
“Time cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me,” Sirius calmly adds, gazing at Remus who caresses his cheeks, frowning.
What happens next is something unexpected, Remus grabs the mic and sings in his hoarse voice, “I’ll love you and follow you down til the sound of your voice can’t haunt me.”
Right after, Sirius add, “I know I could've loved you, but you would not let me!”
“Time cast a spell on me and now I regret losing you,” Remus leans in, breathing in Sirius’ perfume mixed with sweat.
“I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice–” Sirius can’t even end his song that Remus grabs his face and kisses him in front of a sold out stadium. At first, he’s surprised but slowly relaxes into the kiss. Remus has never be so hunger for him, if it weren’t for the cameras and the crowd, he would have fucked him right there right now. And the sound Sirius makes as Remus slowly explores his back and puts his hand in Sirius’ back pockets is enough to get him hard.
“THE MARAUDERS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!” James bellows in his mic, as the crowd chants ‘MORE!’. The curtains closes and Sirius and Remus jumps away from each other, panting like two teenagers that were just caught kissing.
He barely has time to register what just happened that Harry comes running toward him, his four-year-old face full of chocolate, and screams, “Uncle Moony and Pads kissing in a T R E E!” then runs away laughing like a maniac.
Remus turns toward Sirius, the kiss hitting him like a ten ton truck, and says,”Fuck Pads, I love you.”
It’s so stupid to put Sirius on the spot because if Sirius hates one thing in this world it's surely that. And Remus didn’t even think twice before kissing him in front of their biggest concert of their life. He simply did it. Sirius looked and still looks so beautiful.
Breaking the tension, James steps in the conversation, “It was about god-damn time!”
“Took you a full make out session in front of a sold out stadium to get it, didn’t it?” Sirius smirks, leaving his anger aside as he shakes his head.
“I LOVE SIRIUS BLACK!” Remus bellows, grabbing his face once again and kissing his lips.
They kiss so passionately that they don’t hear the person walking in until it's too late. They both startle when Lily’s voice interrupts, “Now that it’s clear you guys love each other. You’ve got a room full of interviewers behind the stage asking for explanations and a cute love story.”
Remus turns toward Sirius, his lips curling up in delight, he extends his hand and mouths, “Are we doing this or not?”
Sirius, grabs his hand, smiles and mouthed back, “Always.”
