Fairy Lights
Christmas with Luna can be a mess. A very literal mess, but Neville wouldn’t change it for the world. The house, already cluttered with plants and horns and odd mock-ups of make believe creatures gets drowned in tinsel and fairy lights weeks before Christmas even rolls around. She places mistletoe in every corner and surprises him with kisses and he always turns red and sputters and laughs and she dances away to plan her next ambush.
On Christmas Eve they always invite their old friends and they all cram into the small space that is the Longbottom flat. Ron and Hermione on the loveseat and Ginny and Harry at one corner of the couch, up until last year when Draco joined them and now he drapes himself like a snake across the Potters (Neville would never understand that dynamic but Luna said it was healing partnership, so he didn’t question it).
Luna and Neville sit on the ground and pass drinks around by hand because it allows them to be close to their friends and Luna believes in the benefits of sharing energy with the ones you love.
When the night turns to morning and Christmas is upon them, Luna always drags Neville away to their room and closes the door. The others laugh and leave in good spirits while Luna kisses him in the dark and pushes him to the bed. She doesn’t mean to be rude and no one seems to think she is, but it surprises Neville every year that this beautiful, fae-like woman wants him so much. It leaves him so warm inside.
Christmas with Luna is always such a mess, but god, Neville wouldn’t have it any other way.
