“You aren’t supposed to be here.”

Darcy smiled wryly, her wings winking at him from the shadows before vanishing. “Hello, cousin.”

Thor watched her, eyes shrewd and curious, and she raised an eyebrow when he said, “I thought you were traveling with the Valkyrior.”

“I was dismissed,” she said simply, her lip curling. “Brunnhilde said something about being too sentimental, but I didn’t stay long enough to listen to the rest.”

“Battle-hungry, blood-thirsty Gunnr… sentimental?” Thor exclaimed in surprise, and chuckled. “You’ve become soft, cousin.”

“Laugh all you’d like, my lord,” Darcy said simply, pulling the beanie more snugly over her head. She grinned at him sharply. “Soft or not – I can still put you on your back and make you eat dirt.”

Thor guffawed loudly, loud enough for Jane to look over to the two of them half-curious, half-jealous. Darcy made a mental note to hint at her personal preference for romantic partners of the female persuasion – the deadlier the better.

“Does Lady Jane know of your…?”

“No, and I wish to keep things that way.” Darcy said sharply, and she shook her head. “She’s trying to create a Bifrost portal, cousin – you know that I am of no assistance when it comes to anything but battle and war.”

Thor nodded quietly, the thread of bitterness in her voice giving her away. She sat back, watching as her cousin walked over to where Jane was huddled, close to the fire.

There was something about mortals – something that drew Asgardians like moths to a flame. She wasn’t blind; Thor was smitten, half-gone on the woman, and Jane wasn’t much better. Darcy only hoped that their romance would go far better than hers had.

She thought back to the woman who had changed everything, and wondered.

Do you remember me, Natalia?
