Chapter 21
Lapis steps out of the pool and wrings out her hair when Amethyst calls out to her. "Yo Lapis!"
Lapis looks up in the stands, her eyes gloss over Bleu who was drawing. Her hands stops mid-wrung as not only Amethyst, but Garnet and the new girl, Bismuth come into view.
How long were they there? "Yeah?" Lapis walks closer to the stands as Amethyst makes her way further down the stands.
"Where's Peri?" Amethyst asks.
Bleu pauses in her sketch as her ears tune in to the conversation. Lapis frowns slightly. Why? "What time is it?"
"It's 4:30," Garnet answers from her position on the very top of the stands.
Lapis smiles softly at her before she turns back to Amethyst. "Try the robotics lab. She's been working on a project. I'd also check the computer lab, she was working on a game too."
Amethyst nodded her head. "Thanks."
Before Amethyst could turn and head out, Lapis stops her. "Amethyst, be careful with her."
Amethyst nods her head. "I just want my friend." With that, she quickly makes her way to the top of the stands.
Lapis shakes her head before she turns and dives back into the water.
Amethyst races around the school. Since she was closer to the computer lab, she checks there first but to no avail.
She sighs as she makes her way further upstairs and towards the robotics lab. She releases a breath when she spots Peridot's green here.
"Peri?"
Peridot who was working on a connector piece drops them. "Shit. Amethyst, look what you did! Now I have to start over."
Amethyst frowns but steps closer. "Can we talk?"
"About what?" Peridot restarts connecting the pieces.
"About what happened at Garnet's boxing match." Amethyst notices Peridot's hands freeze but continues on. "I just want to make sure that we're still cool."
"I told you we were."
"Peri, can you at least look at me?" Peridot sighs and turns to face Amethyst. "I do like you Peri, don't think I don't. If I wasn't with Pearl, I would date you." Peridot looks away from Amethyst and down at the floor.
"That all?"
Amethyst steps closer and lifts Peridot's chin with two fingers. "I don't want to lose you as my friend over this. You may be a nerd but .. you're still my nerd." Amethyst smiles at her.
Peridot smiles back. True, she's hurt that Amethyst is with Pearl, but she doesn't want to Amethyst as a friend either. "Okay."
Amethyst smiles brightly and pulls Peridot into a hug spinning them around. "Thanks Peri. I don't know what I would do without you."
Peridot blushes at the statement. "Y-You're welcome. C-Can I get back to my project?"
Amethyst pulls back. "So whatcha working on?"
"A bot for robotics class. It has a laser, a hammer, a saw, and it even has lights."
"Damn Peri, whatcha preparing for, robotics war?"
Peridot blushed. "N-No, but there is this robotics fight club that I plan on attending."
"Real Shit Peri? I want in!"
Peridot pauses shocked and looks at Amethyst. "Really?"
Amethyst nodded her head. "Yeah. If it's anything like wrestling or sports, I'm down."
"It's not neccesarily; though they do gamble and scream a lot."
"Sounds great! When is it?"
"Next weekend at 6."
"Great, it's a date. Just hit me up."
Peridot blushes profusely. We're just friends. It's just friends going out together. "O-Okay."
Amethyst smiles but continues to watch Peridot work.
