Summary
Who knew getting blasted with a device made by drunk kids would cause all this fuss? Not Skye. They were simply conducting research on the incident at the Academy when Skye and some students were blasted with a device, leading to some... unforeseen side effects.Amnesia and transforming into a wolf were definitely not on her bingo card when she signed up for SHIELD.
Note
Hello my dear readers! Yay, more content from me in barely two weeks! You can thank Rhino for this, they kinda gave me the idea through their latest fic and I hyperfocused on it for like a week, so... this is the fruits of the hyperfocus. I have a few more installments of this one shot series, yes it's gonna be a series, and hopefully it doesn't become more cause I still have other fics to work on XDDAnyway I had fun writing this fic, thank you so much to my dear friend and beta Kitsune, she suffered through my constant yapping about this as I wrote it. So did Rhino, so sorry to you too XDDHope you enjoy!

Skye woke up with a gasp, eyes snapping open as she was suddenly assaulted by loud noises and sharp smells. Every whisper, every gasp, every spike in a person’s scent made her overwhelmed. She heard something on her right and turned to look, finding a girl sitting there, her loud breath sounding shaky and her movements cutting the air like a knife as she tried to touch the laying girl.

Skye sat up and stared at the brunette girl looking at her with worried eyes. She smelled nice, the lavender covering up the sharp scent of something… maybe chemicals… but it all screamed safe to Skye and she wasn’t sure why. However, despite that, when this girl tried to put her hand on her knee, Skye panicked and backed away quickly. She suddenly felt warm under her skin, a pain in her bones that made her want to scream and everything got louder… sharper.

“Skye! It’s alright it’s me… it’s Jemma…” the girl, Jemma said, her voice too loud despite it being barely above a whisper, her worry and confusion evident in not just her eyes now.

“Simmons, what happened here,” a male voice demanded as a tall man with dark hair walked into view. He was different from Jemma. Where she was nice and safe, he was harsh and dangerous, his bland scent barely covering up the piercing undertone of gunpowder. Even the way he carried himself was dangerous and if she couldn’t smell him she would still be on edge.

“Ward, it-” Jemma tried to explain, but the man cut her off.

“We have to go, I was able to get our intel while you two were doing… whatever it was you were doing.” His voice was accusatory now, his eyes moving between Skye and Jemma with so much annoyance as he seemed to ignore the confused young adults all around them.

It all happened so fast after that, Ward moved to grab Skye, probably so she would get up to her feet, but the movement scared the poor girl and she pushed herself away until her back hit a table. His strong hand was almost on her as her heartbeat quickened and the pain became more intense, the heat under her skin no longer this warm comfort through the pain but a part of it now, and she jumped over the table to get away.

Instead of landing on her ass or her back, the pain in her bones intensified until it felt like they were moving on their own. What happened next probably confused a lot more people than just her when Skye found herself standing on shaky paws. Yes, paws, four of them. Her whole body was in pain but it was settling, her new body unfamiliar to her and the warmth that was once feeding the pain was now simply a dull sensation.

Skye tried to take a step, but as soon as her front paw hit the floor again she slipped and fell, her claws making it slippery. At the loud gasps coming from every corner of the room, her ears twitched and her head turned to see the gathered crowd around her and the brunette girl — her name was Jemma, right? — causing Skye to involuntarily growl at them. It all felt strange… she was in her body, well this new body, but there was something else in there with her, an instinct that fought for control at every turn and was so far winning.

“What the hell happened?” she heard Ward ask among the confused whispers of the people around her.

Luckily, she did manage to get up on her own, her ears flattened on her head however as she noticed the tall man taking careful steps in her direction and she growled. He stopped in his tracks at that, but only for a moment before the dark-haired man moved again. Skye stayed in a crouch and took her own careful steps away from him, trying not to trip again.

She did have to stop eventually, however, when her back paws hit a table. This was bad, whatever he was trying to do, Skye wouldn’t let him. When Ward’s hand reached out, she pounced and bit directly into his arm, making him yell out. Blood was already dripping from the wound and onto the floor. He tried to get her off him but Skye’s jaw tightened in retaliation which made Ward hiss in pain even more.

“Skye!” Jemma yelled, her tone dripping with worry and fear. When the words reached her ears, the wolf loosened up ever so slightly but that was enough for Ward to yank his arm away.

Skye fell to the ground with a thud but managed to run off and hide under a chair in the corner, only tripping a few times. “Simmons, call Coulson and May in, they need to come back to assist with the situation,” Ward ordered, his free arm cradling his bloodied one. When she’d fallen off him, she had removed parts of the skin with her teeth so the wound looked terrible.

“Yes, Agent Ward,” Jemma replied, hurrying off to make the call.

It took some coaxing, but the team managed to get Skye onto the Bus and in the Cage. The hacker was still a wolf so it had taken serious patience and care but they did manage it, thanks to Simmons. They’d left the bed in there as well as the table.

Once the chaos from the weather machine had settled, Coulson had also called in a medical team for Ward, who was now being evacuated to the nearest SHIELD medical facility. He would be fine after surgery and once they gave him painkillers but he would be out for a while. Which meant he needed to find them a new specialist.

“How stupid do you have to be to try grabbing a wolf that is clearly feeling threatened?” Coulson asked May and Simmons, exasperated, as the three of them sat in the older man’s office.

“I don’t know, sir,” Jemma admitted, shaking her head. “He seemed aggressive when he joined us again, he wanted to go as fast as possible to get Mr. Dormer and Mr. Gill. I believe that is what led to Skye… transforming and later biting him.”

Coulson sighed before looking down at his computer showing the footage of what happened at the academy. “He’ll need disciplinary action once he is in recovery,” Coulson mused before looking towards May. “But for now, I’m down a specialist.”

“We’ll have to think about whether we want Ward back on the team once he’s recovered. It will be months before then, yes, but we saw Skye’s reaction to him, do we really want to invite that back onto our team?” May asked, her face as unreadable as ever, except to him. Coulson could see her concern, how she was looking out for the younger members of the team in her own way.

“I guess that’s another thing to think about later. For now…” Coulson said, trailing off as he turned back to Jemma. “Agent Simmons, what can you tell me about what happened down there to lead to… all this.” He gestured to the screen.

“Well it’s a little difficult to understand, sir,” Jemma admitted, looking down. “Agent Ward, Skye and I were in the Boiler Room looking for intel on what happened to the pool and Mr. Gill at the lecture. Ward was walking around, elsewhere and I was with Skye. We were talking with other students, and then she went to the bar for a drink and intel. Bartenders generally know a lot, she said. That was when the disruption happened. A blast shot out of the device some students were working on a few ways away and Skye went to push people away from the blast but it hit her. A lot of students that were hit suffered from mild amnesia varying from a few seconds to a couple hours, nothing too bad but Skye didn’t seem to know any of us or where she was. She also seemed overwhelmed by stimuli, and that was when everything happened. Ward scared her, she transformed and he tried to grab her.”

“And she’ll be alright in the Cage?” Coulson asked her, going to pull up the footage of the room.

“She should be yes,” Jemma answered, nodding as she spoke.

That was when the older agent showed them the screen with the live feed of the Cage, showing Skye, still as a wolf, sniffing around the room curiously before stopping next to the door and scratching at the floor. “What is she doing? Is she trying to get out?” He asked, confused.

“Put up the audio?” May suggested, looking at the screen.

Coulson did so and as soon as he did, the agent regretted it. The three of them could hear the whining Skye was producing as she seemed to try finding a way out. The wolf held up its head and Skye howled quickly before running off to the bed and hiding underneath. The older agent pressed back on the audio button, cutting it off as Skye started whining again. At that, Simmons turned around and headed for the door. “Where are you going, Agent Simmons?” Coulson asked, confused.

“Skye is lonely, sir, she needs someone there for her who won’t cause her distress,” the biochemist explained as she stopped in front of the door. “And she needs to be in a more open space where she can run, truly stretch her legs, and learn to control this gift SHIELD gave her.” Before her commanding officer could reply, Jemma was out the door.

Skye watched from her spot under the bed as the door opened, and Jemma carefully walked in, one hand expertly holding two containers on top of one-another and her other hand holding a tablet. Once the door was closed, the other girl walked further into the room while balancing the containers together. “Hello, Skye,” Jemma greeted her with a smile, though the wolf stayed where she was, preferring the safety of her position at the moment. “I um… I brought you food and water.”

Skye’s nose wiggled slightly at the mention of food, unsure of when she ate for the last time. There were a few smells around her, but the girl raised her head to get a better whiff of them, like Jemma’s sweet, safe lavender scent, chicken, rice and broccoli, but she wasn’t completely sure, and water. Under her watchful eye, the brunette girl dropped the tablet onto the table and placed the containers in the middle of the room before removing the covers and taking her tablet back. Once that was done, she went to sit with her back to the wall furthest from Skye.

“Don’t worry, take your time. I’m only here so you’re not alone,” she assured gently, scrolling away on the device.

The two spent a good half hour in a comfortable silence as the wolf watched Jemma work but would immediately look away the second Jemma tried to catch her in the act, drawing smiles from the woman. Skye wasn’t going to lie, she was starting to feel a little hungry, and she felt safe enough to get out of her hiding place, so she stretched and slowly got up. Her eyes were on Jemma the whole time, inspecting for any reaction to the movements, but there was nothing, making her feel bolder. Bold enough to take slow deliberate steps towards the food. Skye wasn’t used to being on four paws yet, so she did trip a few times, but she did manage to make it easily enough. The way everything looked, it was almost like dog bowls, but she wouldn’t complain, it would be hard to give a full meal with plates, glasses and utensils to a wolf. She did her best to form a raised eyebrow at Jemma, though.

“Would you like me to tell you about the team?” Jemma suddenly asked as Skye started to eat. The wolf looked up and gave what she hoped to be as clear of a nod as she could in this form. “Well first, we work for an organization called SHIELD. It stands for Strategic Homeland Intervention Enforcement and Logistics Division, which makes it really seem like they want to spell out a specific word if you ask me.” Jemma chuckled at her own words, before turning serious once again. “SHIELD is a spy agency, we make sure the world is protected from what we consider the ‘weirder world’. Which sometimes means we cover up certain events or things or even people for the safety of others. Or their own. You work as a consultant for SHIELD, helping us with hacking and other computer related issues. We picked you up from your van a few months ago, you’d been living in it for a few years after you escaped the foster system. From what you told me, you don’t know much about your parents and it's why you learned to hack.”

Skye ate as she listened, enjoying the food that probably was meant as leftover for a member of this team. It felt strange to hear about things she was already supposed to know, especially things about herself, but she was still interested, her ears twitching as the girl spoke.

“A lot has happened since you came on board, but I’d like to say we are all friends now,” Jemma continued, chuckling at that part. “Well except you and I of course.” Skye looked up at that, cocking her head to the side. “Oh it’s nothing bad! It’s good, even. We have been together for a little over a month now. You kissed me at a base called the Hub back in November, been together ever since.” Jemma blushed as she blurted out the last part.

Oh… Skye didn’t expect that. Well she was hoping for it, Jemma was cute, and she was nice and felt safe to be around. She shook the thoughts out of her mind as she shook up her fur. The other girl seemed to get the message.

“But I digress… the commanding officer for this team is Agent Coulson, I think you met him when you came onto the Bus. Director Fury did this for him after he finished his recovery from the alien invasion in New York. He built up this team so we’d have all that we needed to run our own missions. We’ve called for backup before, but we normally do things ourselves. Then, our pilot is Agent May. She’s known as The Cavalry but doesn’t like it when we call her that, so we don’t. She was a field agent and then was in administration for years until Coulson asked her to join. No one knows what really happened in Bahrain to get her to transfer, but we all have theories. Anyway, next is Agent Ward, our specialist.”

At the mention of the man’s name, Skye growled to show her displeasure of him.

“Yes, well we all had trouble with him at first but once we started to become friends he warmed up to us. I do believe Agent Coulson will be calling in a new specialist since Ward will be unavailable for a few months. If they bring him back onto the team at all after what he did. So don’t worry, you might never have to see him again.” Jemma gave her a reassuring smile as she spoke. “Then there is Fitz, my best friend. He is an engineer and we always work together. We created tranquilized guns and perfected it while on this team. Still are, really. Before you and I got together you thought Fitz and I were involved. I can understand the confusion, we are quite close. But that also leaves me. I am Jemma Simmons, biochem. Been involved with SHIELD since I was 17 years old, after I got my PhDs and they recruited me to attend SHIELD academy. That is where I met Fitz actually. You were my first field mission if you can believe it. Well, not you per say, but it was when we picked you up, so it counts. It was very exciting, I never even passed my field assessment,” the agent explained, a soft chuckle to her voice as she spoke of her own debut at SHIELD.

Skye liked seeing the other girl happy. When her food was done and she’d drank some water, the wolf moved closer to Jemma and laid there, keeping her in her line of sight. The two of them stayed quiet for a while, simply basking in each other’s presence, the brunette scientist focusing back on her tablet.

In the meantime, back in Coulson’s office, the older agent looked down to the screen once Simmons had closed the door behind herself. “So…” May said, breaking the silence. “What are we going to do about our specialist problem?” she asked, leaning forward in her chair.

“Well, like I said, Ward is going to be facing disciplinary action once he’s better, but we really should find a new specialist. Besides, like you said, with how Skye reacted I don’t know if we want him back,” Coulson replied, looking back at his friend, who hummed in agreement.

“You’ll need to make sure this one is a people person, and is adaptable. This team doesn’t need another incident.”

“I’m guessing you have someone in mind? You’d only bring these things up if you’d been thinking about it,” the man asked May, his signature smirk painted on his lips.

She took the tablet from his desk and started typing, casually pulling up what he could only assume was a personnel file. “There aren’t that many specialists who fit that description and would be willing to join this kind of team, but I do know of one. I scouted her at the academy a little while before Bahrain. She’s good, has much better people skills than Ward, and her general talent in specialist work was impressive back then, can only imagine how she is now. My assessment is that she would make a good SO for Skye, especially now. Very adaptable in everything she does.”

“Never seen you use that many words to praise someone before. Who is it?” Coulson asked, and she handed the tablet to him. “Bobbi Morse? I thought she was running around with Barton and Romanoff.”

“Not as much since New York. Plus, she’s been looking to expand her horizons, and asked to be put on a team a little after you built this team.”

“So she’s available?”

“From what I can see,” May replied with a nod. “I’m sure she could join us at the Sandbox if you asked nicely.”

“I’ll call Hill, ask if she could arrange this. She thinks I’m dead,” Coulson pointed out with a pained look in his eyes.

“Good idea,” May agreed as she got up from her seat. She gave him a subtle encouraging smile and then walked out, leaving him to make his phone call.

Bobbi Morse stood in the tarmac of the Sandbox as she watched the plane known as the ‘Bus’ getting offloaded by a group of agents. They were bringing down a pretty large box and a young man, both of them going to a truck and a car respectively, both of them going to the facility a few miles away. With a slow deep breath, the blonde walked over to the Bus and joined agents May and Coulson on the ramp. “Hello, sir, Agent May,” she greeted them, receiving nods of acknowledgement in return. “Heard you needed a new specialist?”

“Agent Morse, thank you for agreeing to join our team. I trust Deputy Director Hill informed you of why there was an open spot?” Coulson asked, gesturing for her to follow him up the stairs to the next floor.

“She did, yes, but she was pretty vague about it. Only said that he was mauled in the arm.”

He gave her a sheepish look as he nodded. “He was, yeah. Something happened and my consultant is now transformed into a fully grown adult wolf…” Coulson explained hesitantly, and she had to do a double take, stopping in the middle of the hallway.

“I’m sorry what?” Bobbi asked, confused.

“According to my agent who was there, she was blasted with some kind of device that erased most of her memories and possibly gave her the ability to shift into a wolf. I had word before we landed that a team is now looking into this device to see what caused all this to happen.”

“And why was your specialist bitten? I would assume a team that works well together wouldn’t attack each other despite these circumstances.”

“I would agree, but without her memories I believe she saw him as a threat,” Coulson explained, his fingers now massaging his temples. “He was approaching her with his hand stretched out and was trying to grab her. Skye must have felt cornered and attacked.”

“So he was an idiot,” Bobbi concluded, drawing a genuine laugh from her new commanding officer.

“Yes, he was. Still is. He should be getting surgery soon if he isn’t already.” The two of them stopped in front of a door to what had to be the interrogation room. “This is the Cage, where our consultant Skye is staying for the time being. She hasn’t returned to human form yet, but we’re hoping it happens soon.”

“You want me to go in there?” the blonde asked in surprise.

“You are different from Ward, so I am hopeful she will like you more. Plus, Agent Simmons is still in there, as far as I know, so you should be fine.” Coulson threw her his best smile and moved to open the door. “Let’s go, then.”

Bobbi sighed and walked in as soon as the door was open, followed closely by the older agent. The scene that greeted her as she took it all in should not have surprised her as much. She wasn’t sure why, but even with Coulson’s warning, she didn’t think she would find an actual wolf. It was big, slightly bigger than a normal fully grown wolf, with black and brown fur and some white patches along its paws and neck. Agent Simmons was sitting on the floor with her tablet in one hand as the other pet the rather large predator laying next to her.

As soon as the wolf – it was really Coulson’s consultant, Skye, Bobbi remembered – saw the blonde and Coulson standing by the door, it bolted away clumsily, crouching under the bed with a growl. “Simmons, this is Bobbi Morse, she will be our new specialist. Morse, meet Doctor Jemma Simmons, our biochemist,” Coulson introduced them, drawing their attention away from the scared wolf, though Bobbi kept her in her line of sight.

“It's a pleasure Agent Morse,” Jemma greeted the blonde as she got up from her spot and gave her commanding officer a nod.

“Same here, Agent Simmons,” Bobbi greeted back, shaking the younger girl’s hand.

“How’s Skye doing?” Coulson asked the scientist, his eyes darting back to the bed.

“Until you arrived, she was calmer, and had only been that close to me for about twenty minutes. I’m sure she will get used to you both soon enough,” the brunette informed them, her own head turning to the growling wolf. “Otherwise, she is doing alright.”

“That’s good. And do you know if she will be able to turn back to human soon?” Coulson asked, h.

“I don’t, sorry,” Jemma apologized, shaking her head. After a moment of silence, she glanced at Skye and turned back to the others. “Um… I apologize but it would be best if one of you leaves. Having many people around may be overwhelming for Skye.”

“Oh yes, I understand. I’ll go, leave you girls alone,” Coulson decided, nodding along. He saw Bobbi about to protest but he stopped her. “You should stay, let Skye get used to you. I don’t want another mauling incident.” His voice almost sounded pained as he said that last part.

“Yes, sir,” Bobbi acknowledged with a nod.

“It’s giving me so much paperwork to deal with…” Coulson muttered under his breath, Bobbi wasn’t sure they were meant to hear it, but the whine Skye let out as Coulson left meant that she also heard. It almost sounded like an apology, but the specialist couldn’t be fully sure.

“Come sit, Agent Morse,” Simmons offered as she went back to her spot from earlier. “It’s more inviting to Skye, and feels less threatening.”

“Alright,” Bobbi said with a shrug, going over to sit a foot from the biochemist. “And please, call me Bobbi.”

“Call me Jemma, then,” Jemma replied with a smile. “So, Ag-Bobbi, tell me about yourself.”

Skye listened as Jemma and the new team member chatted for about an hour, even through take-off and she stayed hidden under the bed. The wolf could tell that Agent Morse – or Bobbi, as she wanted to be called – was keeping an eye on her, and she couldn’t blame the blonde… Skye was a predator that attacked the last person who was in her position on the team. To be fair, Ward had felt dangerous, his stance was aggressive and even his scent wasn’t helping his case, while Bobbi smelt far nicer – vanilla, and a hint of gunpowder that was far more faint than Ward – her stance was more inviting, and she generally felt safe.

Once they were safely in the air, Jemma had moved a little and was now sitting closer to the table that was in the middle of the room, placing herself in between Skye and Bobbi. The former appreciated it and after an hour of just watching, felt comfortable enough to get close to Jemma again. The brunette smiled down at Skye and gave her soft strokes along her neck. It was the first time Skye had let Jemma touch her since being a wolf, which the agent noticed as her smile widened. Skye got even closer to Jemma and gave her a quick lick on the cheek, hoping the brunette would understand the gratitude she was trying to convey.

With a poke of her nose on the girl’s shirt, Skye moved away and got closer to Bobbi. The wolf was still clumsy as she walked, not quite used to being on four legs, but she was starting to get better. Skye stopped close enough to Bobbi that if the blonde wanted to, she could stretch and touch her head. “Um… hi,” Bobbi greeted, her eyes flicking between Skye and Jemma, unsure of what to do.

“I think she likes you,” Jemma observed, her smile clear in her voice. She’d stayed where she was, electing to look at them from her spot. It was true, Skye did like Bobbi and she was glad someone had noticed.

“Ok but… what do I do…?” the blonde complained, though Skye could tell she wasn’t angry, just confused.

“I’d say stay where you are and let her make the next move. If she wants you to do something, she’ll let you know,” Jemma informed her. Skye wasn’t sure she was a fan of people talking about her like she wasn’t there or like she was a wild animal, but she couldn’t exactly speak for herself like this, and she was technically a wild animal while in this form.

She still whined to show her displeasure at that, but pushed herself closer until her nose was touching Bobbi’s leg. The blonde looked between Jemma and Skye, confusion still painted on her face, and that almost made Skye laugh, though she wasn’t sure how she could do that as a wolf. Of course, now she had to move even closer, drop her head onto the agent’s leg and drag herself to Bobbi’s hand.

Finally, Bobbi understood exactly what Skye wanted her to do and started scratching at her head, making her whine happily at the contact.

It was a few hours later, as Skye was truly relaxed, enjoying the scratches the blonde was still absentmindedly giving her, when she started feeling the warmth again. She was always pretty warm, especially as a wolf, probably a byproduct of the fur, but now it felt like when she first transformed. The warmth was becoming intense again, almost painful.

Skye suddenly got up and stretched herself, hoping it would help setting the pain, but it didn’t do anything. She then also shook herself, trying to see if that would help, but to no avail.

“Skye, are you ok?” Bobbi asked, concerned. She’d jumped when the wolf had gotten up so suddenly.

Skye looked up at her and growled lowly, a faint whine mixed into it. She headed back to the bed and instead of hiding underneath it, she jumped on top, chewing at the sheets.

“What’s wrong?” Jemma asked, looking between the blonde and wolf. Her only response was a shrug from Bobbi and a whine from Skye.

The pain was getting worse, bones starting to move back into place, snapping as they did so, causing her to howl in pain. It hurt so much, the heat burning beneath her skin as her body worked overtime to shift her back to her other form. The process was somehow slower than before, when she went from human to wolf, but Skye hoped she would learn to shift safely back and forth and it wouldn’t hurt as much, or else she would try her best to never let it happen again.

“Should I go…?” Bobbi asked hesitantly, her voice piercing through Skye’s ears.

“I think you should,” Jemma agreed, her voice thankfully close to a whisper as she seemed to understand what was happening. “Tell Agent Coulson that Skye should be back to being human in a minute.”

As Bobbi left, the door closed behind her, but there was no way to soften it, so when the latch sprung back into place the sound reverted through the room, through Skye’s body.

It didn’t take long for the process to finish once the blonde was gone, the last of her bones snapping into place and her body was back to human. Skye panted heavily as she tried to stabilize her breathing, groaning from the soreness every time she moved.

Once she was able to breathe normally again, the brunette slowly looked up around the room, her dark eyes meeting Jemma’s own brown eyes. “H-hi…” Skye greeted shakily, suddenly very aware of her lack of clothes.

“It is quite impressive that you can transform from human to wolf and back unscathed. I have never seen anything like it,” Jemma rambled as she checked over Skye once they’d gotten the hacker out of the Cage and into the medbay, with a fresh set of clothes. The biochemist had kicked everyone else out, opting to give the other girl some privacy.

“I wouldn’t really say unscathed, I’m really sore,” Skye pointed out, fidgeting a little on the table Jemma had her sitting on.

“Well soreness seems normal, considering what you told me about the bones shifting back and forth when you transform. You are also running quite warm… I can’t tell if it has to do with you being able to become a wolf or if it is something else…” Jemma deplored, pointing the thermometer over the younger brunette’s forehead. It was indicating 104 degrees, which would be a fever for a normal human.

“I was really warm as a wolf, and it got worse both times I was shifting, like the heat was making the pain worse, or something. It could just be normal, maybe I run hot now?” Skye suggested, using her index finger to swipe the device away from herself with a fond smile. “Is there a way to stop these? Am I stuck like this forever?”

“Maybe you do, yes, but I will have to run more tests to make sure. As for if this is permanent… I will have to take a blood sample to tell you those things, I’m afraid,” Jemma informed her sadly, giving her a soft smile. “Before that, are you experiencing more side effects? You mentioned being very sensitive to noises and smells as a wolf, is that still happening? Is there anything else?”

“I guess so, yeah? I can smell you pretty well even when you’re across the room and sharper scents feel disorienting, and I guess it’s the same thing for sounds,” Skye told her, before thinking of anything else that she hadn’t mentioned yet. “I don’t think there’s anything, I wasn’t exactly in a large enough space to test out how fast I could go, or anything like that.”

“No, I guess not… maybe we'll find someplace soon where you can run around?” the biochemist suggested kindly, to which Skye nodded. Jemma then moved around the lab and gathered supplies, taking a syringe and vials to draw up some blood. “Alright, if there isn’t anything else, I guess I should take some blood samples. The faster we do this, the quicker you will be able to get out of here.”

“Ok, I guess,” Skye agreed hesitantly. She braced herself as the other girl took the needle and moved to press it up against a vein. It really wasn’t pleasant for Skye, she felt trapped, even more than just the room itself, but she wanted to have her answers and Jemma seemed to think doing blood tests was the right idea.

“First vial done,” the older girl chirped out, moving to change the vial.

“Stop,” Skye ground out, her eyes closed, doing her best to think of anything else.

“The second vial is almost done, it won’t be much longer,” Jemma assured her, oblivious to the younger girl’s struggle.

“Please stop…” she begged again, her body feeling warmer again and the machine she was hooked up to was beeping faster and faster.

“Almost do-” Jemma tried saying again, but was cut off when Skye grabbed the biochemist’s wrist and pushed it away from her arm. She then took the needle and yanked it out, drawing some blood from the puncture site. Jemma hurried to apply a gauze to the small wound, but Skye was already calming down, the beeping slowing down to a normal rhythm and her body heat going back to her normal temperature. “I guess blood tests won’t be possible anymore…”

Skye scoffed, but shook her head. “Not really no.”
