A Prime Appearance

Catra’s ears twitch at the sounds of chatter not too far away from her. The voices are different from the ones she’s been hearing since her kidnapping as she feels a sharp pain in her chest, a hiss inadvertently leaving her lips as her eyes snap open.

“She’s awake!” Someone calls out frantically, “Glimmer! Bow! She’s awake!”

“We’re coming, Adora!” Bow calls back as warm hands find their way to Catra’s face.

“Hey! Hey!” Adora says trying to say a little calmer as her hands move from Catra’s face to her shoulders, “You’re okay. You’re safe.”

Catra groans out as she feels Adora’s hand brush against a sore spot on her left shoulder, the blonde’s hand instantly recoiling.

“Adora!” Glimmer says as the pair stop a step short from Adora, “Is she really awake?”

“I think so.” Adora replies as one hand goes back to Catra’s face, she whispers, “Hey, it’s okay. You’re safe.”

“yousaidthatalready…” Catra grumbles out almost incomprehensibly as she hisses out in pain.

“What did she say?” Bow asks.

Adora narrows her eyes down at the magicat, ignoring her friend for the moment, “Can you tell me your name?”

“Water…” Catra mutters out instead, a cough on the verge of destroying the slight peacefulness of calm in her body as her throat gets drier, “…water.”

“Water!” Adora repeats almost too excitedly before getting up and grabbing a water bottle before returning just as quickly, she gently nudges the magicat, “Can you sit up?”

Catra shakes her head.

“Do you mind if I move you a little so you don’t end up breathing in this water?” Adora asks.

Catra nods once and that’s all it takes for Adora to gently move herself so that the magicat’s head is pretty much in her lap. Catra looks up and sees the concentration on Adora’s face, a small smile paints her lips at the sight as she’s gently propped up so she can drink.

“Is this okay?” Adora whispers.

“Yeah.”

“Okay. Bow holds the water bottle out to Adora, the blonde takes it and unscrews the lip before gently cupping Catra’s cheek, “Ready?”

“Mm.” The magicat hums back a response.

Adora places the bottle against Catra’s lips and tilts it up slowly until she can hear the sound of the magicat drinking the water, after a few moments, the blonde pulls the bottle away, “How’s that?”

“Better.” Catra replies looking straight up into Adora’s soft eyes before she remembers Delia and the rest of her camp, “I have to go.”

“Woah!” Adora holds Catra down as the magicat tries to get up, “You’re hurt.”

“Uh huh.” Catra replies with a grimace on her face, “What doesn’t kill me right?”

Adora rolls her eyes, “You can’t just go.”

Realisation dawns on the magicat, “Oh, I get it.”

Adora looks to her friends confused, “Get what?”

Catra scoffs despite the pain in her body, “What do you need me to steal now?”

“Steal?” Adora repeats bewildered.

“Yeah. That’s why you won’t let me go.” Catra surmises, “What do you need me to steal?”

“Nothing…?” Adora answers confused, “We don’t need you to steal anything.”

“Sure.” Catra nods, “Then you wouldn’t mind letting me free so I can go.”

Adora frowns down, “You are in no condition to go anywhere.”

“Whatever, princess.” Catra grunts out as she once again tries to get up only to be wrapped up in the blonde’s arms, “What are you doing? You said I was free to go.”

“Can you stop being so stubborn? You’re hurt. Like really hurt.” Adora tries to reason, “I don’t know if you remember, but you got hit by a car.”

“I remember that.” Catra replies flatly, “Pretty sure I’ve also been stabbed, electrocuted and have a few broken ribs.”

“And a gash on your forehead.” Bow happily provides, “It’s not so bad since Adora fixed it up.”

“Adora?” Catra says as she looks up.

“Me. I’m Adora.” Adora introduces herself, “And that’s Bow and Glimmer. My best friends.”

“I’m… I’m out of here.” Catra tries again, “Thanks for fixing me up or whatever but I need to go.”

Adora turns to her friends, “Guys, can you give us a minute?”

“Sure. We’ll be over here trying to get a fire started.” Glimmer calls back as she grabs Bow’s hand and walks back towards the little area they’ve decided to make camp for the night.

Catra looks up, the sky is still dimly lit, the light is starting to fade fast, “You haven’t got a fire started yet?”

“No.” Adora sighs out, “It’s not like we can just get one started out of nothing.”

“Where’s the car?” Catra asks as she tries to look around only for her head to protest at the movement, “Why didn’t you just take the car?”

“It wouldn’t start.” Adora replies, “Look, it’s not like we had much of a choice.”

“And the horses?” Catra ignores Adora’s comment.

“You are in no state to ride a horse.” Adora looks down at the magicat with furrowed brows.

“Not me, idiot.” Catra snarks out, “It’s not safe to be out here at night…”

“We’re not leaving you.” Adora snarks right back.

“Take the horses and get to the closest town.” Catra orders, “If you can’t get a fire started before dark comes over, we’re as good as dead.”

“Hey, wait, no.” Adora says, “We’ve got torches if it comes down to it.”

“No. The creatures around here aren’t scared of artificial light.” Catra reasons, “And in these woods, without fire, we’re as good as dead. So, either get that fire started now or get on those horses and get the fuck out of here.”

Adora turns her head to her friends still struggling to get a fire lit and then over to the horses tied up by the trees, weighing the two options up, “Do you know how to start a fire?”

Catra, despite the pain in her body, lets out a small and pained chuckle and nods, “Help me up.”

“Quit moving princess.” Catra grumbles as Adora tries to reach for her bottle, jostling the magicat who’s got her head in lap a little before giving up and leaning back against the tree.

“Is there a reason you’re using our best friend as a pillow right now?” Glimmer points out as her and Bow sit on the other side of the fire, “Because Bow made a bed up for you over there.”

“No. I’m not moving again.” Catra retorts as she glances at the poor excuse for a bed, “I can already feel my rib scratching up against my lung.”

“You didn’t have to move.” Adora says with an air of frustration, “You could have just instructed us and not actually get up and do it yourself.”

“No, I couldn’t.” Catra replies with a small victorious grin on her face, “You three yahoos can’t seem to follow instructions.” She looks up and sees the glare and pout on Adora’s face, “Besides it would have taken longer and I definitely would have killed Sparkles over there for making things worse.”

“Hey?!” Glimmer shrieks as Catra tries to hold back a laugh at how easy it is to rile up the woman, “Whatever…”

“You were doing really well, Glim.” Bow tries to reassure her.

“Shut it, Bow.” Glimmer pouts, crossing her arms over her chest, “I’m hungry.”

As if on cue, Adora’s stomach growls too as she shuffles a little making Catra growl out, “Shush.”

“Are you talking to me or your stomach?” Catra jests as she nestles a little more into Adora’s lap, “Didn’t you bring any supplies?”

“The taxi ride was only meant to be a couple of hours.” Adora replies as she tries once more to grab her bottle, “It’s not like we planned to be ambushed and fighting for our lives today.”

“Tell me about it.” Catra agrees closing her eyes once more, “When daylight hits, we’ll take the horses into town. And then we can part ways.”

“You’re in no condition to travel…” Adora tries to recall the magicat’s name before she remembers that she doesn’t know it, “Uh, what did you say your name was?”

“It’s Catra.”

“Fitting.” Glimmer snarks from the other side, a huff of a laugh behind it, “Creative.”

“Shut it, Sparkles.” Catra growls out and winces in pain, “I didn’t name myself.”

“We need to get you to a hospital.” Adora says, “Actually, we all need to get checked out.”

Catra’s eyes open once more, and that’s when she notices the darkness around Adora’s face and eyes, her hand reaches out involuntarily and gently caresses the blonde’s cheek, “You’re hurt too, princess.”

“It’s nothing.” Adora brushes off Catra’s concern but then finds herself leaning into her hand, “I’ll be fine. I’ve just got some bruises.”

“I’ll go to my bed.” Catra offers only for Adora to quickly grasp her hand that’s on her cheek, “You need to rest too.”

“It’s fine.” Adora repeats, “Besides, I feel like you’re a flight risk.”

“Can’t stop me taking off if you’re asleep.” Catra tries to joke but it’s met with a look of concern on Adora’s face, “But then again… my body isn’t exactly listening to me.”

“Thank the stars for that.” Adora smiles down in a little relief.

Catra nods slightly, “Did you check the horses for supplies?”

“Huh?”

“The horses.” Catra repeats a little louder, “Those idiots that caught me had supplies.”

“If those guys were idiots, what does that make you? Since you got caught by them.” Glimmer asks with a smug look on her own battered face, not that Catra can see her through the fire’s flames.

“Me? I was outnumbered and surprised.” Catra tries to shrug, “I wasn’t trying to save myself anyway.”

“What do you mean?” Bow wraps an arm around Glimmer.

“Delia and Fagan… my friends were just trying to protect me.” Catra sighs, “I wanted to give myself up, they were more than happy to up and move the entire camp for me. To keep me safe from those… idiots.”

“I fear to ask…” Adora says more to herself than the group as she squeezes Catra’s hand.

“Fagen’s dead.” Catra eyes glaze over as she tries not to think about the look of life leaving his eyes that fateful night, “And Delia… I… I don’t know. I hope she made it. But, I’m not sure of that. Which is why I need to get back.”

“I’m sorry.” Adora breathes out.

“Not your fault.” Catra tries to shrug again, and then grabs Adora’s hand, “I need to get back.”

“We’ll help you get back, but only once you get better.” Adora’s voice still soft, “I’m not going to let you just walk out and probably bleed out and die before you get to where you need to be.”

“Why do you care so much, princess? You barely know me.” Catra narrows her eyes at the blonde.

“You saved me. Saved us.” Adora says.

“I was trying to escape.” Catra replies.

“That’s not true.”

“Yeah, it is.”

“No, it’s not.”

“Why the fuck are you arguing with me about my own motivations?” Catra asks instead.

“Because.” Adora starts with a smirk on her face when she looks down at the magicat in her lap, “If you were planning on escaping, you would have just left and not taken every single one of them out.”

“Well, I’m not an asshole.” Catra defends, “I know what they’re like. And a pretty girl like you… well, I wasn’t going to let that happen.”

“I know you’re not an asshole and wait…” Adora starts and then pauses, “Did you just call me pretty?”

“No.” The magicat quickly denies.

“Oh my stars… you did!” Adora beams out as Catra tries to get out of the blonde’s neck before being quickly held in place, “Woah, where do you think you’re going?”

“Away.” Catra tries again only for second time, “Argh, you’re so annoying!”

“And pretty!” Adora laughs out as she gently cradles the magicat into her arms, “But you still shouldn’t move again.”

“Uh huh.” Catra winces a little in pain at the jostling, “Should have just let me die.”

“That’s not funny, Catra.” Adora says sincerely.

Catra’s taken aback by Adora’s sincerity, she looks elsewhere for a distraction and a change of subject, “What are you doing here, in the Waste?”

“I’m supposed to be competing in a tournament at the end of the week.” Adora replies looking a little dejected, “If we get there.”

“What tournament?” Catra presses on.

“It’s a martial arts tournament. All styles.” Adora perks up a little upon speaking about it.

“You’re a martial artist?” Catra asks.

“Sort of.” Adora replies with a blush, “I’m okay…”

“She’s more than okay.” Bow adds in, “She’s won multiple events.”

“Yeah, Adora’s going to win this one too.” Glimmer pipes up.

“That’s… pretty cool.” Catra agrees, “Just as long as you don’t beat me up too.”

“Definitely not.” Adora rolls her eyes, “I don’t start fights.”

“Huh.” Catra just says and then she winces a little differently, “Uh, I think I’ve sprung a leak…”

“Hm?”

Catra reaches beneath her jacket and then scrunches up her nose in confirmation, pulling her hand out and sighing out, “Pretty sure whatever you did to put me back together again has split.”

“Oh, shit!” Adora reaches down and finds that the entire bandage she had wrapped around the magicat’s stab wound completely drenched, “Glim!”

“On it!” Glimmer and Bow quickly rush over, “Told you we should have stitched it up while she was still out.”

“Stitch me up?” Catra asks before realising what was going to happen, “Oh… right.”

Adora grimaces, “The bleeding seemed to stop when we had you all bandaged up…”

“Where are you stitching me?” Catra asks in lieu of dealing with Adora’s comment, “Front or back?”

“Both, probably.” Glimmer replies as she starts going through their bags for her first aid kit and then finds what she’s looking for with an, “AHA!”

“You’re kidding… Sparkles is going to stitch me up?!” Catra asks shocked.

“You wish it was me.” Glimmer sticks her tongue out childishly at the magicat, “Bow’s the medical guy in the team.”

“Uh huh… which makes you?” Catra says with a wince.

“Management.” Glimmer smirks, “Now, get your jacket and shirt off.”

Catra looks up and sees Adora’s face go red, “Uh, Adora? Help me out here, would you?”

“Mhm.” Adora replies without any eye contact, “Um, what do you need me to do?”

“Undress me, princess.” Catra says with a little chuckle at how bashful Adora is being, “Stop being weird. I’m going bleed out if you don’t hurry up.”

“Oh, right.” Adora snaps out of it and gently helps Catra out of her jacket and shirt, the blonde’s eyes dart away upon realising Catra doesn’t have anything on underneath the two layers, “Stars…”

Catra looks down at herself, “Yeah, no point for support when there’s not much there to support.”

“HA!” Glimmer laughs out, breaking the tension as Bow gloves up and grabs the suturing kit, “I’ve got a bottle of booze if you want to numb the pain a bit.”

“What kind?” Catra looks over at Glimmer.

“Whiskey.” Catra thinks about it, “It’s not for drinking, idiot.”

“Oh, then what’s it for?” Catra asks as she looks to Adora doing her best to keep her eyes stare in a respectable spot, which so happens to be the magicat’s eyes, “What’s it for, if not drinking?”

“I’ll show you.” Glimmer smirks as Bow gets into position next to Catra on the ground, Adora’s hands placed gently on the magicat’s shoulders. Glimmer cracks the lid on the bottle and brings it over, “Ready?”

“Not sure what you’re… oh, FUCK!” Catra almost leaps up, only to be held down by Adora when Glimmer pours the whiskey onto the magicat’s leaking stab wound on her chest, “WHAT THE FUCK, SPARKLES!!!”

“Now, Bow.” Glimmer calmly instructs.

“On it!” Bow quickly wipes off the remnants of alcohol before he starts to sew up the small stab wound.

“GEEZ-FUCK!” Catra grunts out as she writhes around.

“Stay still, Catra.” Glimmer chastises, “Or Bow will have to start again.”

“It’s okay.” Adora’s voice breaks through the magicat’s thoughts of swiping her claws through Bow, “You’re doing great. He’s nearly done.”

Catra relents, her breaths become shorter and faster as she grits her teeth through the pain until she hears Bow say, “DONE!”

“Fuck, finally…” Catra breathes out.

“Turn her over.” Glimmer says.

“Wait, what?!” Catra turns her head frantically to Adora.

“Just to your side, Cat.” Adora says with an apologetic smile on her lips.

Catra closes her eyes and takes a deep breath in, “Fine.”

Adora helps Catra to her side and once again Glimmer splashes the whiskey over the wound before Bow gets to work.

“You’re okay. You’re doing really well.” Adora repeats calmly and soothingly as she holds the magicat in place, “Nearly done. I’ve got you. I’ve got you.”

“Promise…?” Catra grits out.

Adora nods despite the magicat not being able to see her, “I promise.”

Catra claws dig into the earth the longer Bow stitches, “Fuck…”

“Breathe, baby. Breathe…” Adora says and almost instantly she feels Catra still, “What?”

“What did you say?” Catra asks, the line of questioning taking her mind off the pain.

“I said… breathe?” Adora answers not sure what the problem is.

“You said something else with it…” Catra probes.

“Uh…”

“Done!” Bow calls out for the final time.

“Saved by the bell. Or should I say by Bow.” Catra smirks as Adora gently rolls her back, “That was… a lot.”

“I know.” Adora nods, “You should rest.”

“We all need to.” Glimmer announces, “Argh, I knew I should have brought more snacks.”

“Check the horses.” Catra says absentmindedly, “Will and his cohorts should have supplies. They weren’t hunting when I was held captive with them that’s for sure.”

“Why didn’t we think of that?” Bow asks Glimmer, “Come on, Glim. Let’s raid their stuff. Maybe they’ve got swags or something too.”

“Grab a torch, fire torch.” Catra reminds them, “Each.”

Bow nods, “We won’t be too far.”

“Thank the stars for supplies!” Glimmer declares as she bites down into a protein bar, “Also, yuck.”

“Eat up, Sparkles.” Catra chuckles, “It’s either that or starve.”

“They’re not that bad.” Adora says as she polishes off her second bar, “Would be nice if they were berry flavoured or something.”

Bow grimaces as he eats his bar, “Could be worse, I guess.”

“What about you?” Adora asks as she unwraps a third bar, “You have to eat too.”

“Aren’t you afraid I’m going to choke?” Catra says and Adora smiles down at her.

“Do you want me to feed you, Cat?”

“Maybe.”

“Gross.” Glimmer sticks her tongue out at the pair, “Get a room.”

“Would love to.” Catra replies without turning her head, “Bit hard when we’re in the middle of woods next to the fucking road though.”

Bow yawns out exaggeratedly, “I don’t know about you guys, but I’m literally beat.”

“Come on, Bow.” Glimmer grabs his hand and a torch and head to where they’ve set up to sleep for the night using what they’ve raided from their attacker’s supplies.

“What about you, princess?” Catra asks, “You need your beauty sleep too.”

Adora nods, “Eat first, then sleep.”

“Feed me?”

Adora laughs a little before nodding and then bringing the bar up to Catra’s mouth, “Just so you know I’m going to be spooning you tonight.”

“Why’s that?”

“Because I’ve got a feeling that you’re going to run.” Adora replies, “And it’d be easier to just trap you in my arms than anything else.”

“How long have you been thinking about spooning me?” Catra smirks as s takes a bite of the bar in front of her.

“Not long.” Adora shrugs, “I’m only doing this for safety though.”

“Uh huh. Safety.” Catra repeats unconvinced.

“Yep. Safety.” Adora confirms, “Plus it means I can put pressure on the stab wound on your back and keep an eye on it if it starts to leak again.”

“It’s fine if you want to touch me, Adora.” Catra says completely surprising the blonde, “I’m not going to turn down a warm body.”

“What? You’d be happy with any warm body?” Adora questions playfully as Catra takes another bite.

Catra shrugs, “Your body will do. And it helps that you smell pretty good too.”

“So full of compliments, aren’t you?” Adora rolls her eyes as Catra takes the last bite of the bar and the blonde scrunches up the wrapper and pockets it, “Okay, ready?”

“Nope, but spoon away.” Catra says in amusement, “Actually, toss that wrapper out of your pocket. Don’t want anything pawing at you trying to find the source of the smell of the wrapper.”

Adora pulls the wrapper out of her pocket, “Uh, I’m just going to…”

“Yep.” Catra says as she winces while she rolls off to the side with the help of Adora, “I’m good.”

Adora giggles a little as she gently settles the magicat down on the ground so she can get up and put the rubbish away before coming back, “Okay. So, how are we doing this?”

“Well, roll me over and then I’m all good.” Catra muses, “Just don’t crush me, princess. I’m already broken.”

“Okay.” Adora chuckles at that before moving herself behind the magicat, “Just let me know if I am crushing you, okay?”

“Sure.” Catra says as Adora carefully adjusts the magicat on her side so she can properly spoon her, before trying to shut down the purr that involuntarily rumbles out of her chest.

“Oh my stars…” Adora whispers out, a coo and a grin on the blonde’s face upon hearing that, “Did you just… are you…?”

“Shut up, princess and go to sleep.” Catra chastises, “This is not because I like you.”

Adora pulls the magicat closer into her chest, “Whatever you say.”

“I do say.” Catra yawns.

“Goodnight Catra.” Adora whispers after a tired yawn and a smile on her face.

“Night, Adora.”

Adora wakes up to the sound of a someone beeping their horn loudly. She opens her eyes, laying on her back as she rubs the sleep out of them and yawns and then groans out when the horn sounds again.

“Ugh.” The blonde grumbles, “Glim? Bow? You guys awake?”

“It’s too early!” Glimmer bemoans as the couple slowly wake up, “Wait… is that help?”

Bow springs up, pulling Glimmer up with him, “Oh, that’s good! Maybe they got our message!”

“Woah!” Adora quickly stops the pair, “What if it’s not?”

“What do you mean?” Bow questions looking around.

“What if they aren’t here for us?” Adora says, “I say we check it out before we give ourselves away.”

“You’re right, Adora.” Glimmer agrees, “We don’t know what other kind of crazies are out there.”

“I’ll take a look, you guys stay here.” Adora instructs as her friends’ nod.

“Be careful.” Bow whispers out.

Adora nods back to him as she quietly steps forward towards the sound of the car making so much noise so early in the morning. The sun has just risen, and the coolness of the air still lingers as Adora gets to the edge and peeks out from behind a tree.

“Hello! Anywhere alive?!” A policeman calls out, except the vehicle he drives is not marked as a police car, it’s a rather fancy sports car of sorts, definitely not something the police would be using, “Hello? Anyone?!”

Adora watches as a second person exits the vehicle, another man, taller and a lot more intimidating that the first, though he is not dressed in any type of uniform. Instead, he wears white. A white suit that doesn’t belong in this environment. He puts his hand on the first man’s shoulder, “Find that magicat and bring it to me.”

The first man nods, “Yes, sir.” And then starts to make his way towards the woods as the man in white leans against the car, pulling his phone and tapping on it a few times and then holding it to his ear.

He grunts out when no one answers his call, pocketing the device and then crossing his arms over his chest, he mumbles out, “I gave you one simple job Will. Bring that magicat back to me in one piece. It cannot be that difficult to take care of one wretched beast.”

Adora gasps slightly to herself before backing away and back to her friends, the man in white seems uninterested as he looks at his nails in the meantime.

Adora quickly ducks behind a tree when the first man approaches, running back to the man in white, “Sir! Come quickly!”

“What is it, Paxton?” The man in white scowls back, “You better not be wasting my time. And if you mess up my suit… there will be hell to pay.”

Paxton gulps down, “Uh, yes sir, mister Prime.”

“That’s Lord Prime.” He growls out and the other man cowers.

“Yes, Lord Prime.” He corrects himself, “This way. I think you should come see this.”

Adora quickly rushes back to her friends, harshly whispering to the pair, “We have to go. Now!”

“What? Why?” Glimmer whisper shouts back.

“No time!” Adora gestures for them to follow her before she realises the magicat’s missing presence, “Where’s Catra?”

Bow and Glimmer shrug as they look at one another, and then all three turn there heads to where there’s noise coming towards them, “No time. Come on!” Adora gestures to them to start moving.

The trio pick up their bags and start to move further into the woods, just out of sight from the newcomers, panting softly as they hold tight in the safety of the thick brush. Adora brings a finger to her mouth to signal silence, her friends nod as they watch the newcomers go to their camp site.

“Lord Prime, the horses!” Paxton points out, “But what happened to Will and the rest of the squad?”

“Did you not see the road?” Prime reminds the other man, “The damn cat shredded them to pieces.”

“Oh.” Paxton gulps down, “What, uh, what do we do now?”

“Go find that magicat!” Prime orders angrily, “Bring it to me. Now!”

“By myself?” Paxton visibly shakes, “But… that thing did that to Will and the whole squad…”

Prime glares at him and she cowers once again, “Are you disobeying me?”

“No, Lord Prime.” Paxton backtracks, “But, if that magicat can take out 7 people single handedly… oof!”

Prime grabs the man, pulling him up so that his legs dangle off the ground as he glares into Paxton’s eyes, “Find it or I will make you wish that beast would have killed you.”

“Y-yes, my Lord. S-sorry Lord Prime.” Paxton quickly stammers out, “I’ll get the magicat for you. On my life.”

Prime drops Paxton down to the ground, “Get going then.”

“Come on, we need to move!” Adora gestures to her friends once Paxton and Prime have both moved on, “We can take the horses.”

“Good idea.” Bow agrees.

“It’s not too far.” Glimmer says as she sees the horses up ahead, “Quick!”

The trio start to sprint towards the horses, they sling their bags over the top of their chosen horses, Bow and Adora easily mount their horses, “Shit, Glim!” Bow quickly jumps back down to help her up, “Come on, I’ll give you a boost.”

“Okay.” Glimmer puts a hand on the horse and the other on Bow’s shoulder as he gets ready to boost her up and then… “Oof! Bow!”

“Hey! What the?!” Bow manages to get out before he’s picked up and flung against a nearby tree, “Ow…” and then blacks out.

“Bow!” Glimmer shouts out before she’s grabbed by the hair and yanked back, “Ow! What the fuck?!”

“Ah… what do we have here?” Prime’s breath grazes Glimmer’s ear.

Glimmer manages to turn around and kick Prime in the shin as he grunts out but doesn’t drop her, “Let go!”

“Hey!” Adora comes up from behind and charges full speed at him with her horse, “Let her go!”

Prime doesn’t have time to move out of the way as Adora knocks him to the ground, his grip on Glimmer loosening enough for her to run away while Adora turns her horse around to get to Bow who’s on the ground.

BANG!

A loud gun shot sounds from where Prime gets to his feet.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

“Woah!” Adora’s horse drops down to the ground all of sudden, trapping the blonde’s leg under it she goes down with it, “Ow! Glim! Run! Don’t worry about me!”

Glimmer looks between her best friends.

Bow is knocked out on the ground from the knock to against the tree.

Adora’s trapped under her horse as Prime growls out, making his way towards them with an angry scowl on his face, “You will pay for that.”

He raises his gun to Glimmer, “Please! No! Don’t kill us! Please!”

“Where is that beast?” He growls out and cocks the gun, pointing it directly at Glimmer, “And don’t lie to me.”

“I don’t know!” Glimmer shouts out and then screams as Prime pulls the trigger, a bullet landing close to her foot, “I don’t know! I’m telling you the truth!”

“Well, in that case.” He points the gun directly at Glimmer’s chest, “You are of no use to me then.”

Glimmer slams her eyes shut as she waits for the killing shot.

“Oof!” Prime goes down as Paxton lands on him, the gun knocked out of his hand as he tries to get up, “Get off me you buffoon! Paxton! Get off!”

Paxton doesn’t respond. The man’s mass pinning Prime under him as Glimmer quickly gets up and collects the gun and then spots Catra. The magicat sprinting over and lands a hard punch to Prime’s face, knocking him out cold.

“We have to go.” Catra grunts out, “Get your boy and I’ll grab the princess.”

“What?!” Glimmer frowns.

“Do it, Sparkles!” Catra shouts out as she pulls Adora’s leg free, “Can you walk, Adora?”

“I… I don’t know…” Adora replies as she gets to her feet with Catra’s help and then hisses out when she puts weight on her right leg, “Ow… my leg!”

“Fuck.” Catra grunts out before getting under Adora’s arm, “Come on, I’ll be your crutch. We need tot get to the car.”

“What car?” Glimmer asks as she starts to drag Bow by the leg towards the magicat and Adora.

“Prime’s car.” Catra replies before looking down at Bow, “Is he dead? Because if he is dead, there’s no point dragging his body around.”

“He’s not dead.” Glimmer growls out.

“Can you carry him?” Catra asks seriously and Glimmer just stares at her with an obvious look of no. “Help Adora to the car. I’ll grab your boy.”

“Cat…” Adora tries to argue as Glimmer props herself under Adora for support.

“I’m fine, princess.” Catra smirks back, “Magicat genes help me heal faster than the average bear.”

“You’re still hurt!” Adora calls out.

“So are you!” Catra crouches over Bow and thinks about how she’s going to lift him up, “Get going before Prime wakes up!”

“Come on.” Glimmer gestures for Adora to start moving, “I’ll grab our bags once you are safe in the car.”

“The bags don’t matter, Glim.” Adora says as she grimaces and winces with every step, she glances back quickly to see Catra sling Bow over her shoulder, her eyes widen, “How is she doing that?”

“Magicats, am I right?” Glimmer shrugs, “Come on.”

“We’ll be right back.” Catra says as she grabs Glimmer by the arm, “We’re going to grab the rest of our stuff quickly and then be back.”

“Be careful.” Adora says to both of them, “If you can’t get them, don’t worry about them.”

“We’ll be fine, Adora.” Glimmer smirks and then brandishes the gun to show her, “I’ve got this if he tries anything or wakes up.”

Catra rolls her eyes, “Come on.”

A few minutes later, the boot opens and Glimmer gets into the backseat of the car with Bow who’s still knocked out while Catra shoves the trio’s bags into the boot before getting into the drivers seat. Adora breathes out in relief from the front passenger seat upon seeing the pair reappear.

“Keys… keys… keys…” Catra repeats looking around before slamming her fists on the dash when they aren’t obvious to their whereabouts, “Fuck it.”

“What are you doing?” Adora asks as she watches Catra rip out wires under the steering wheel.

“Hot wiring this thing.” Catra replies with a wince and then…

Vroom!

Catra smirks as she looks at Adora, “Got it.”

Adora rolls her eyes but there’s a smile on her face, “Can you even drive this thing?”

“I can drive anything, princess.” Catra grabs a pair of stray sunglasses from the dash and puts them on, “Now, let’s get the fuck out of here.”
