It was a somewhat normal day, birds chirping, wind blowing, causing some leaves to fall. Rinku loved to look outside, it had always been her favorite thing, especially stargazing, and everything else!
She closes her window, giggling softly to herself after seeing two birds being lovey-dovey, laying one's head on another.
Rinku decides to visit Muni! It's been awhile since she'd stayed there.
She's in front of Muni's house.. that quickly? Huh. Opening the door, she expected to be greeted by lights, only to be met by darkness.
Maybe she's not home? That's odd, she usually is. Unless it's school.
"Muni-chan? I came to visit!" Rinku announces, she stays silent.
No response.
She's confused, walking around the house, checking the living room, her bedroom, under her bed, the bathroom..?
No one.
"..Muni-chaan? Are you pranking me?" She yells once again, only to be met by a deafening silence. Her smile starts to fade.
Rinku was anxious, frantically looking around.
Red eyes meet .. red?
..It's wet.
Her eyes widen, slowly walking over to the maroon liquid on the floor, behind the kitchen counter. That wasn't there before.
Muni.
On the floor, lifeless. Rinku sees her soulless yellow eyes, it's scary.
But.. but how? How could this have happened..?!
Her breathing becomes erratic, she backs away, her back meeting the wall. Rinku's eyes felt wet, her heart started to swirl.
Everything felt unreal.
Everything is unreal.
Rinku quickly sits up from the bed, red eyes wide open. She was sweating, her lights were off.
It was just a nightmare.
She quickly turns on her lamp, trying to calm herself down.
"It's okay, just a nightmare.. Muni-chan is alive.." She whispers.
But she's still anxious, it felt so real. Was it? No, no it wasn't.. she thinks. She hopes.
Rinku grabs her phone, finding Muni's dial number and calling her, as she nervously fidgets with a strand of her blonde hair.
Ring ring ring!
Pick up, please.
Ring ring ring!
Muni doesn't like talking on the phone.
Ring ring ring!
She slowly starts to get anxious, maybe she should hang up. She doesn't wanna bother her after-all.
Her thumb reaches for the red button, before Muni finally answers.
'..Rinku? It's 2am..' She speaks, she sounds tired.
Rinku tries to compose herself. "Muni-chan, can we stay on call? Just for a bit..?" Her voice shakes slightly, she fidgets with the hem of her sleepwear.
Muni realizes something was wrong, bed shuffling was heard, she sat up. 'What's wrong..!? Your voice is shaking, that's not like you!'
"No, no! It's nothing! I just had a nightmare!" The blonde tries to reassure her, and also herself.
'Are you sure?'
"..Can you.. can you let me hear your heartbeat?"
It was silent for a while, Rinku immediately regretted it, did she get weirded out?
'Okay.'
Her red eyes soften, calming down from hearing her voice.
After a second, a heartbeat was heard, Rinku immediately relaxed, some tears still falling from her eyes, mostly out of relief. She closes her eyes, pulling her legs up to her chest, wrapping her arm around her knee as she put the speaker next to her ear.
Hearing her heart beating, it was so reassuring. Muni was alive, alive and well. It felt so warm, she sighed, basking in the relief. The room doesn't feel as dark now.
'..Rinku? You still there? Did you fall asleep..?' Muni mutters after a while.
Rinku doesn't flinch, smiling harder from hearing her voice. "Yeah, I'm still here.. I think I'm getting sleepy though.. hehe."
She giggles, 'Okay, go to sleep then.' Muni's smile was heard from the phone.
"Okayy.." Rinku responds, ending it with a yawn.
"Nighty night, Muni-chan."
'.. Nighty night, Rinku.'
The call ends, Rinku plops back down on her pillow, closing her eyes, letting sleep hug her tight.
Muni dislikes talking on the phone, but for Rinku friends is a different question.
