Monday, October 7th 1984
"UGHHHH" Ben groaned
"Oh my gosh Ben. When are you going to stop SCREAMING in my ear." Darius asked with a tone of sarcasm.
"Darius.. do you not get it. I just made THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY ENTIRE LIIFEEEEE" Ben dragged his words in annoyance.
"Have you even ever once talked to Kenji?" I don't know.. maybe he's cool?" Darius said.
"I don't need to talk to him to know he's a huge asshole." Ben replied.
"Well now you're gonna have to." Darius laughed.
LATER THAT DAY
Sluurrrppppp
"Sammy there's nothing left in that cup i promise you, babe" Yasmina said.
Ben had his head in his hands as he sat with Yasmina and Sammy on the curb.
"Ben can you stop mopein' around?" Sammy asked as she took another slurp of her empty slurpee
"IM NOT MOPEING" Ben yelled in defense
Yasmina laughed "you totally are."
"I'm going to have to Kenji freaking Kon for more than ONE SECOND tomorrow! This is misery!!!" Ben said as he layed back onto the pavement.
"Just think about alllll the extra credit." Yaz said sarcastically as she waved her hands in a rainbow shape slowly.
Sammy giggled and nudged Yasmina's arm.
"Yeah Ben, you'll be fine!" Sammy said.
THE NEXT DAY. Tuesday, October 8th 1984
Ben watched the clock during class. Every second went faster than it usually does. He dreaded the end of school, which never happened.
"Psst.. PSST!!" A younger girl with braids and a bright blue shirt tried to get Ben's attention.
Ben turned to her in confusion. "What??" He shrugged
"Are you okay?? You're being loud if you didn't know." She rolled her eyes.
"I am??? Oh im sorry. I'm just nervous.. You're Zayna? right?" Ben asked.
She laughed a bit and then she nodded. "What are you nervous about? A test? Because if you are dont be.. youre smart!
Zayna was an exchange student from Senegal, she was a lot younger than most high schoolers but she was really smart so the school decided to put her in junior classes.
"Thanks, but it's not about that." Ben said.
"Then what's it about?" Zayna asked.
"I have to tutor Kenji Kon after school."
"Oh, he's a nightmare. Good luck with that." She said and smiled.
Ben's eyes widened and he turned back at the clock.
Ringgggggg
"Well! That's the bell. Bye Ben!!" Zayna waved.
Ben let out a sigh before picking up his bag and heading to the library.
