Secrets

The gentle touches. The soft kisses. The little noises that filled the room.
The feeling of their bodies molding together as one.
Her heart raced in her chest as tears stung at the corners of her [e/c] eyes, threatening to break free at any moment. The memories were almost too painful to live with anymore. After that night he would barely look at her, let alone touch her.
Now she sat on the bathroom with her back pressed against the wall, hand subconsciously moving to rest on her stomach where a new life was forming. What was she supposed to do?
“[Y/N]?” Nat’s voiced called from the other side of the door, “Are you alright sweetie?”
“I don’t know.” The younger woman confessed, voice almost lifeless.
“What’s wrong?”
“Everything.”
“What’s going on?” Tony’s voice could be heard now and she could imagine the confused look on his face as he looked between Nat and the bathroom door.
“Something’s up with [Y/N].”
“Anything we can help with [n/n]?” Tony asked, concern lacing his voice, “Should someone go get Bruce?”
“No!” She exclaimed, tears rolling down her cheeks as her voice cracked, “Please no.”
“Alright, what’s going on?” Nat asked, the softness in her voice replaced with and undertone of anger, “Did something happen?”
“I don’t wanna talk about it.” [Y/N] murmured, pulling her knees close and burying her face in them, “Could you guys just leave me alone?”
“[Y/N] [M/N] [L/N],” Nat began, “if you don’t open this door right now and tell us what the hell is going on I promise that I will break it down and make you tell us!”
“Nat calm down.” It was Steve talking now, “What going on?”
“[Y/N] is acting like a depressed sixteen year old and locking herself in the bathroom.” Nat growled.
“Why?”
“That’s what we’re trying to figure out.” Tony sighed, “I’m getting Bruce.”
“What about me?”
She stiffened, hearing his voice on the other side of the door was the last thing she needed right now.
“Your little….well whatever she is because whatever you two have is confusing….has locked herself in the bathroom.” Nat snapped in response.
“What happened?” Bruce asked, his voice louder now that he was closer to the door.
“You tell us.” Tony muttered.
“[Y/N]-“
“Go away!” [Y/N] shouted at all of them, her body beginning to tremble.
“Not gonna happen.” Steve stated.
“Seriously [Y/N], just open the damn door.” Nat huffed.
“I said go the hell away!” She shouted as she opted to turn her sadness into anger, putting her hand to her stomach once again as though protecting her budding child from her wrath.
“Maybe we should-“
“You’re kidding me right Bruce?” Tony snapped, all emotions were on edge, “The girl you’ve been dating for God knows how long has locked herself in the bathroom and you’re just gonna up and leave her?”
“Maybe they’re not together anymore?” Steve thought out loud.
“Good going Cap.” Nat sighed upon hearing a yelp from the other side of the door.
“Sorry.” The super soldier murmured with his head bowed.
“Are you still together?” Tony asked Bruce with a raised brow.
“Just stay out of it.” Bruce sighed, brown eyes trained on the door.
“[Y/N] sweetie, are you and Bruce still dating?” Nat asked, deciding to start small and maybe coax the other woman into letting at least one of them into the bathroom to figure out what was going on.
“The hell if I know.” Said woman answered bitterly, tears pricking her eyes once again.
Out in the hall, all eyes narrowed on Bruce before Natasha continued.
“How long have you been in there?”
There was a long pause before an audible sigh could be heard and [Y/N] spoke, “A while.”
“I’ll go get her something.” Steve announced as he walked off towards the kitchen.
“Steve is getting you something to eat.” Tony called to the lone woman.
“I don’t care.”
“Why are you doing this?” Bruce finally spoke.
“I have my reasons.” [Y/N] replied.
“Just come out of there and we can talk about this.” He continued.
“There’s not really anything that needs to be discussed, this is happening and that’s all that’s too it.”
“Will you stop talking in riddles?” Bruce sighed in annoyance.
“Just leave me alone Bruce, you’ve been doing such a great job of it anyway.” [Y/N] muttered.
“Is that what this is about?” He shouted, “You locked yourself in the bathroom because I haven’t been giving you attention?”
“Bruce calm down.” Tony urged.
“You have everyone out here worrying about you and you’re throwing your own pity party in there!”
“Pity party?” [Y/N] yelled, the bathroom door swinging open with such force that it slammed against the wall.
“Will both of you calm down?” Natasha asked, looking between the two.
“You really think I’m so petty as to spend six hours in a bathroom because you’ve been ignoring me?” [Y/N] growled, stepping closer to him with narrowed [e/c] eyes.
“If there’s something you want to say [Y/N] just say it.” Bruce said.
A loud ‘crack’ echoed through the hallway, Bruce’s head was jerked to the side as [Y/N] retracted her hand and crossed her arms. She didn’t even bat an eyelash as Bruce’s skin began shifting to a light green color, it wasn’t like she hadn’t witnessed this before. Natasha and Tony on the other hand were quickly at Bruce’s side attempting, and failing, to calm him.
“Now you did it [n/n].” Tony huffed.
“He’ll get over, just like I will.” The [h/c] haired woman spat back bitterly.
“Will you just say what the hell is bothering you?” Bruce growled, the green eyes of the monster inside burning into her own [e/c] as his hands gripped her upper arms harshly.
“Bruce, let go of her.” Natasha ordered, “You don’t wanna do something you’ll regret.”
“You really wanna know Bruce?” [Y/N] asked, all venom in her tone replaced by vulnerability as she moved one of his hands to touch her stomach, “You’re gonna be a father, well if you want to be anyway.”
“No way!” Tony shouted in disbelief.
Natasha stared back and forth between [Y/N] and Bruce, not as bothered by the news as Tony was.
“What?” Bruce whispered, his eyes and skin fading into their natural color.
“I’m pregnant.” [Y/N] confessed.
“Were you going to tell me?” He asked, his eyes drifting to her stomach then back to hers.
“I don’t know, you pushed me away and….I didn’t think you would want….us….a family.”
“I distanced myself from you because I didn’t want to hurt you [Y/N]!” Bruce sighed heavily, “That night, god that night was perfect, but it made me realize just how much you meant to me and I got scared.”
“I think this is the part where we leave silently.” Tony said.
“You don’t know how to do anything silently.” Nat sighed, dragging Tony away from the scene.
“Bruce, I’ve been on the receiving end of the Hulk’s rage and made it out just fine.”
“What next time you’re not so lucky?” Bruce countered, “What if next time it’s not just you? What if-“
“Will you stop with all that what ifs?” ]Y/N] asked dully, then took his hand from her stomach, “If you don’t want this then fine, that’s alright, we’ll be fine. But at least tell me.”
“I want this, I just don’t know how it’ll turn out.” Bruce assured, putting his hand back on her stomach and smiling softly as he stared down at her stomach.
“Neither do I, but we’ll make it through this. You can’t just run.”
“At least we can figure it out together.”
“Together.” [Y/N] repeated, pulling him closer to brush her lips over his before he pulled away sharply with a worried look.
“But what if-“
“Bruce!”
