Cinderella

“Having fun collecting dust over here?” Tony asked dryly as he walked up to Steve, “You haven’t moved from this seat all night, knees bothering you?”
“Hello to you too Tony.” Steve huffed in response.
“There are a number of lovely ladies here and you haven’t even talked to one! I know your tastes are old fashioned but I’m sure you can manage a little small talk.”
“It’s not like I’d know who anyone was.” Steve retorted.
“Not digging the masquerade theme?” Tony inquired as he adjusted his own mask, “I thought it was a pretty fun idea.”
“Excuse me?” It was a confident feminine voice that interrupted the two bickering Avengers, “Would you care to dance?”
“I don’t-“
“Of course he would, just take it easy on my pal here sweetheart he’s not as young as he used to be.” Tony said as he pushed Steve towards the masked [h/c] haired woman and laughed as the blonde man was pulled onto the dance floor.
“I’m not a very good dancer.” Steve muttered shyly.
“That’s alright, neither am I.” The mystery woman said with a laugh.
They danced around the dance floor, Steve actually managing to have a good time, and when the dance was over he didn’t bother to let her go so they continued to dance until they were both so out of breath they were about to collapse.
“I thought you said you weren’t a good dance?” The woman giggled, staring at him with intense [e/c] eyes.
“I’m usually not.” Steve admitted, “Do you want a drink?”
“That would be great, thank you.” She answered with a smile then watched as Steve walked away to the bar, bickering with his friend once more before returning with two glasses of water.
“I hope you don’t mind water.” He said sheepishly, handing the glass over to her.
“Not at all, thank you.” She said, accepting the drink and sipping at it, “You and your friend seem to be at ends.”
“Yeah, you could say that.” Steve sighed, glancing over at Tony before looking back at the woman in front of him, “He just doesn’t understand.”
“What is there to understand, you don’t belong in this time period so you feel out of place and are unable to interact with the people of this time.” The [h/c]-ette remarked, drinking more of her water, “It’s like a sad sci-fi movie.”
“Well it seems you know me pretty well.” Steve laughed softly, “Do I get to know you?”
“Perhaps.” The woman answered.
The clock began to chime and the woman tensed.
“I….I have to go.” She exclaimed, placing her glass down on the closest surface and turned towards the exit. Steve reached out and grabbed her hand quickly.
“Will I see you again?” He asked hurriedly.
“Oh I’m sure you will.” The mystery woman said with a smile then pulled her hand from his and ran off leaving Steve’s eyes to follow after her.

It had been two weeks since that party and still Steve couldn’t get that woman out of his head, what was it about her that drove him to this point?
“You alright over there Cap?” Tony asked, looking at the tense way the blonde was holding himself.
“It’s driving me crazy!” Steve huffed, “Who is she?”
“Ah, you’re talking about your mystery Cinderella.” Tony said with a chuckle.
“I’m glad you find this so amusing.”
The elevator gave a ‘ding’ and both men turned to see who had come to join them.
“You asked Fury for me by name, what do you want Tony?” The [h/c] haired woman asked as she walked across to where he and Steve were sitting.
“Well I’ve been a little worried about my pal here, seems a masked woman he met a couple weeks ago won’t stop dancing through his head,” Tony explained with a sly smile, “and being that you’re the best psychologist in town I thought maybe you could fix him up nice and good.”
“How sweet of you, if I didn’t know any better I’d say you’re actually being human.” The woman remarked then turned to Steve, “Would you like to talk?”
“It couldn’t hurt.” Steve sighed with a shrug.
“I’ll leave you to it then sweetheart.” Tony laughed as he left the two in the penthouse.
“First of all, I’m [Full Name], nice to meet you Mr. Rogers.” [Y/N] introduced herself.
“And you ma’am.” Steve said with a smile.
“Now, you’ve fallen in love with a woman you don’t even know?” She commented, staring at him intently.
“I think it’s safe to say yes, but the fact that I don’t know her, not even her name, is eating away at me.”
“What is it about this woman that has captured your attention so?”
“Her laugh is like the melody to the most beautiful song, her silk is soft as silk, and her eyes sparkle like stars. Not to mention her personality, I knew her for all of a few hours and felt like I’ve known her my whole life. All I know is that I want to know this woman more than anything in the world!” Steve exclaimed then sighed, running a hand over his face to calm himself.
“Then ask away.”
Her words were sudden and shocked him a bit. He stared at her in confusion until she took down her hair as she laughed.
“Tony is a sly fox I’ll give him that much.” She laughed and stared at him with gleaming [e/c] eyes then smirked, “So you’ve found me Mr. Rogers, not what are you going to do?”
His actions were as quick as a bolt of lightning and his lips were on hers just as fast.
“I’ve wanted to do that to you since our first dance.” Steve muttered against her lips.
“Charming, and here I thought you wanted to know me.” [Y/N] snickered.
“I want to know you in every way it’s possible to know a person.” Steve declared and then kissed her once more.
