Summary
One-shot. Mika hates humans. A thought he'd never thought he'd have. But Yuu is the one human that he wants to be near. After the demon episode, as the vampires call it, Mika has had no information on Yuu. And he's worried about him. He tries sneaking in but learns that sneaking past the elite guard alone, no matter how huge the hole behind them is a challenge. Especially when one of them is Guren himself, the one human that Mika hates with a passion. When Mika and Yuu finally meet what will happen.
Note
So this is one of the first fanfics I've ever written so it's really crappy compared to my other ones. However, it's also my longest oneshot, so I'm really proud of it. Hope you guys enjoy.MikaYuu is the Best OTP.

Mika looked behind him the lights of the nobles houses all dimmed down to a low. Good. After that battle they were sure to be asleep at noon in the day. Even Ferid and Krul. That was one vampire cliche that happened to be true. Even then he kept his guard up. He didn't dare underestimate their keen sense of observation. His cerulean eyes scanned the horizon making sure there were no vampires in sight.

That was when he ran. He ran as fast as he could with the lightest steps he's ever took. He still didn't trust somebody not to hear. He jumped over rumble and buildings using his easy access of stamina to get through the distruction of the Shinjuku district. Why was he doing this you ask? (Haha I'm breaking the fourth wall) Why was he heading toward the humans' base? Alone. With only his sword. And while only having half a day's worth of sleep. Ok scratch that barely any.

It's been seven days since Yuu lost control and seven days since Mika had any information on him. Mika could normally count on Krul to give him at least an update on whether he was alive or not. But apparently Krul couldn't even get a spy past the giant hole caused by Lacus driving that plane through it. So he was going himself. He didn't care how many humans he had to cut down. They were just using Yuu for their horrendus human experiments. Or at least so he thought.

He finally arrived at the third defense wall protecting the city. The giant gap in the wall was visible for miles and he could see the people working to repair the wall and the guards with their cursed gears patroling quite a bit away from it.

'They sure are serious about guarding that gap. But that leaves less people to guard the rest of the wall.' Mika thought. "Idiots." he mumbled. Not that he minded though. Their absent-mindedness would make things all the more easier for him.

He turned and ran through the alleyways hoping to make it to the other side of the wall in record time. He came out of the maze of buildings to see that the work crew was maybe half a mile away.

'I could have sworn I just ran two miles. How big is this wall?' Mika pondered. Deciding he wasn't going to get much more safer than this. 'They really are idiots. I don't see any any guards along the wall over here.' That thought in place Mika decided to pull a Kirito and run up the wall.

He made it about halfway up the wall before he decided to stop on a ledge to catch his breath. He searched over the hallway. Just because they weren't watching didn't mean they weren't up there. He could hear slight voices making him slightly wary. The moment someone saw him he would have to run back to Krul and that was the last thing he wanted.

The voices seemed to be above or below him. If they were below he could easily escape them. If they were above he'd have to wait for them to pass. Concluding it be safer to wait for them to pass in general Mika made his way to shadows. The only way to tell he was there was the glint of his sword and when his cape fluttered out into the sunlight. He could hear their footsteps coming closer and decided to listen to their conversation anyway. Why not?

"I hate the fact that we're stuck here patroling while Yuu is still in the hospital." a feminine voice said.

At the word Yuu Mika's ears perked up instantly. 'Humans. What did they do to Yuu.' he thought bitterly. The fact that he's in the hospital filled him with dread.

"Well you didn't think you could stay there forever did you Mitsuba? With Yuu finally awake and our wounds healed we don't have an excuse to stay there. Besides we'll visit him when we get off duty." said another feminine voice. One that sounded familiar to Mika.

"Yuu-chan! Snap out of it."

Mika shook his head. It couldn't be that girl could it? He still had that image of her hugging him in his mind.

"I know I know." Mitsuba said. "I'm just glad he's alright. He really had me worried there. It's not like Yuu to stay down for long. The fact that he stayed down for seven days outright scared me."

"Is that worry in your voice. What happened to you hating him."

"I never hated him. I just disliked him for rushing ahead is all. But I guess all can be forgiven for what happened."

"Yeah. I had a talk with Guren earlier."

"Really?"

"Yeah. Remember how we have those stamina enhancing pills?"

"How could I forget?"

"Point. Anyway before I got the batch for us he gave me a box of pills and told me to give it to him."

'I knew it.' Mika thought.

"I guess that didn't go down well with you."Mitsuba said.

"No it didn't. When I asked what they were for, he said "Yuu has a special cursed gear so he needs a special dose of pills." I didn't think about it but when that happened I started speculating. My theory is that Guren's pills are what made Yuu go demon mode back there. And it scares me."

"I know Shinoa. I never really liked Guren. Always got a really weird vibe from him." Mitsuba said.

"Guren mentioned something about Yuu being his trump card that day. But at the moment I was too scared for my life to think about it."

"Don't blame you. But if Guren thinks he can use our friend like a guinea pig he has another thing coming. Besides Yuu's too strong to have his life ruled for him."

Shinoa giggled. "Got that right. I'm surprised he agreed to stay in bed today."

A wave of relief passed through Mika as he slowed his steps to a stop. Only then did he realize he was following the girls and he was now dangerously close to the gap in the wall. Questions filled his mind. When did he start following those girls in the first place? What was Guren planning? Could the humans sense him? Why did the humans care so much?

Mika shook his head again. He had to pull himself together. When he deemed the two girls far enough away he crossed the ledge to the other side while wondering why he didn't do that earlier but not before sneaking a look at Guren who was on patrol at the moment. His vengeance would have to wait a bit.

'Great now I sound like Yuu.' Mika innerly groaned. As much as he loved him one Yuu is enough. 'Love!' Where had that come from? Mika shook his head again and lightly slapped his cheeks trying to get rid of the blush creeping up his cheeks. 'Mika snap out of it.'

After getting passed the wall he ducked in and out of alleyways and took the long routes around. Humans are the exact opposite of vampires. Up and going during the middle of the day. That's why it was so easy to ambush the other. One attacks in the daylight. The other attacks in the shadows of the night. Tracking Yuu wasn't a problem. Mika could easily track his scent after seven days.

The one problem? Yuu was at the other end of the city. Mika could take his chances and go through the town. He shook that plan aside. 'Nope. I don't have a disguise. I'm not an idiot.' The other option was to go around the city. Sure it'd take a while but it would ensure his safety. Deciding it wasn't any good to stand around thinking he ran.

As he ran around the edge of the city in the shadow's he looked around. It wasn't in too bad condition. The building's were livable and the people were living normal lives, happy and care-free.

"Hey. Wait a minute." a voice yelled directly at him.

Startled, Mika tripped and fell to the ground. Not wanted the guy to catch him he got up and continued running.

"Stop. I'm not going to hurt you." the voice yelled again.

Mika shrugged it off. 'Typical human. Like I'd believe him.'

"You're Mika right? Hey wait up!"

Ok that was it. Mika turned around and brought out his sword. "How do you know my name?" he asked the stranger.

He was wearing a typical Japanese Imperial Demon Army uniform. His pink hair fell in place on his head. Beneath his thick glasses red eyes stared down at the sword pointed at him. He instictively reached for his dual swords but stopped himself. Instead, he put his hands in the air.

"I'll ask again how do you know my name?" Mika growled. He really didn't want to kill someone. That was the last thing he wanted really.

"I'm Kimizuki. I'm a friend of Yuu's. You're looking for him right? At least that's why I'd asume you'd be here." he said.

"A friend of Yuu's? Please. All you humans are the same. I bet you're using him for some horrible experiments."

"How could you possibly say that. Sure I punch him every now and then, but that's just to knock some sense into him. He's still my friend though and my comrade. I wouldn't hurt him. Every time I see Yuu he's either eating, yelling at Shinoa, or ranting about avenging you. Now that he knows you're alive, you're all he can talk about."

Mika looked startled. 'Why does he look so angry about what I said?' Instead the word "Really?" came out of his mouth.

"Yeah. He reallly wants to see you again. He wants to have a proper reunion. Not that I blame him. I'd probably act like that too if I was in his shoes."

"How do you know? You haven't lost your whole family." Mika snapped. His eyes widened in realization of what he said and he instantly regretted it. He saw Kimizuki divert his gaze.

"I'm afraid you have it all wrong. Every one in this damn world knows what it's like. I lost my parents and my sister is currently fighting for her life against the disease that rained hell upon us a few years ago." Kimizuki himself snapped. He hastily tried to regain his composure.

"Listen. I know you don't trust humans. And I guess I don't blame you. Colonel Guren just hits me the wrong way. But you can trust me when I say I am truly Yuu's friend. So's Yoichi, Shinoa, and Mitsuba. You don't have to worry about them."

"So what if I can trust you? What are you going to do now that you've seen me?"

"That's easy. I'm going to take you to Yuu."

Mika looked at him. "Why would you.."

"Why?" Kimizuki started. He turned back to face him. "Yuu wants to see you. Any friend of Yuu is a friend of mine. Besides my patrol is about over. Just follow me from the shadows. When we get to the hospital I'll tell you where to go. Ok?"

Mika sighed. "I guess I can trust you. But if you so much as.."

"Blah. Blah. Yeah. I get it. You don't want me to hurt him. And I won't. I promise." Kimizuki stated and turned around. He started walking on and continuing his patrol. Mika looked at him. Despite his cold exterior he seemed to care for Yuu. 'I guess not all humans are half bad after all.' The conversation between the two girls from earlier rang in his head. 'Not all. Hmm. I guess Yuu really does attract good people.'

Mika launched himself in the shadows and followed Kimizuki on the rest of the patrol. He sheathed his sword so nobody could catch the glint of it. Every soldier Kimizuki passed was given a respectful greeting. He never hinted to the vampire following him around. Mika was surprised at how nice some of the people were. And how happy they were scampering around the city.

After half an hour Kimizuki turned around and started heading back toward the other end of the city. He stole a glance at Mika and slightly nodded. Mika understood the gesture. They were heading toward Yuu. Finally after another hour of walking Kimizuki stopped in front of a building. It looked like a typical hospital and there wasn't as many people around patroling the front. Kimizuki snuck his way to the side of the building, Mika following close behind.

"Ok. Yuu is on the second to last floor third room to the right from where we are." Kimizuki said as he pointed up.

Mika looked at him and gave him a slight smile. "Thank you."

Kimizuki nodded. "No problem. But Yuu's expecting me any second now. I told him when my shift ends. So wait a minute and let me tell him that I'm alright. Then I'll leave and you guys can talk. "

Mika nodded in understanding. Didn't want Yuu thinking one of his friends got hurt. Kimizuki walked back around to the front and entered the building. Mika, on the other hand, couldn't just enter casually. As much as he wished too. He hopped up on the legdes and jumped on the balcony. He looked in to make sure it was Yuu's room and sure enough he was in there, talking with a brown-haired boy.

"So Yoichi, how did the patrol go?" Yuu asked. He was busy trying comb out his unruly hair.

"Nothing unusual. I got put with the group of new recruits. They kept asking me questions." Yoichi answered.

"You always get the easy stuff." Yuu said.

"Dealing with them was not easy. They wouldn't stop talking. Thankfully I have a lot of practice with Shinoa."

"She does like to toot her own horn." Yuu said. Yuu and Yoichi laughed. Mika smiled. Seeing Yuu happy sent huge waves of joy throughout his body. It was all he wanted to see.

Yoichi looked at Yuu. "That's one of the first real laughs I've heard from you in a while."

Yuu looked back at him. "Really? I didn't notice."

"Well it was. And I bet I know the reason." Yoichi said.

"I swear Shinoa is rubbing off on you. Ok. What is this reason that you speak of." Yuu questioned.

"It's Mika isn't it. You're estactic that he's alive. You sound a lot like me when Kimizuki asked me out." Yoichi.

"When I what?" Kimizuki asked as he opened the door to the hospital room. He looked foward at the window to see Mika staring at the conversation.

"Your boyfriend is comparing how I feel right now to how he felt when you asked him out." Yuu explained.

Mika looked on at the conversation. When his name was brought up, Mika looked at Yuu's reaction.

"But I'm right aren't I?" Yoichi said.

Yuu looked down. "Yeah you're right. When I first saw him I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought Asuramaru was showing me hallucinations again. But I was so happy. I thought he was dead. For four years." Yuu said. His voice was wavering slightly. Kimzuki stole another glance at Mika. He was tearing up slightly. Kimizuki felt himself smile.

"I'm sure he's happy to know you're safe as well. You are family after all." Yoichi smiled. He noticed a bit ago the presence at the window and the blonde hair he would see out of the corner of his eye was obvious.

Yuu smiled. "Thanks. You always know what to say Yoichi."

Kimizuki smiled. That was one of the reasons he loved Yoichi so much. He was kind and considerate to those around him. He was the complete opposite of his hard-headed self and could always calm him down in a situation. Even when Yuu pissed him off beyond belief.

Kimizuki entwined his hand with Yoichi's resulting in a blush from the younger.

Yuu slightly chuckled. "Is Yoichi embarrassed?"

"Who's sounding like Shinoa now?" Yoichi countered.

"Good god." Yuu said as facepalmed himself and fell back against the bed. He accidently hit his head on the headboard. "Oww. Shit. Oh good god that hurt."

Yoichi and Kimizuki cracked up laughing. Whenever Yuu accidently hurt himself Kimizuki and Yoichi always took the chance to laugh at him for it.

Kimizuki brought the conversation back to him. "Are you embarrassed?" he asked Yoichi.

"N-No." Yoichi said as he looked away. His face was bright red but he made no move to seperate his hand from Kimizuki's. Kimizuki chuckled and kissed his cheek lightly. "K-Kimizuki!" Yoichi exclaimed. "Stop teasing me! You know I don't like that."

Yuu laughed at the sight. 'It's never boring around here.'

"I'm sorry Yoichi but you're just too cute when you blush." Kimizuki said in his defence. Yoichi finally having enough slapped him upside the head. Hard.

"Oww Yoichi. What was that for?" he asked.

"For embarrassing me."

"Ha. So you do admit it!" Yuu said.

"What no. I." Yoichi sighed, knowing he lost the argument.

Kimizuki looked at an impatient Mika in the window and chuckled to himself. "Well me and Yoichi have to get going. So don't do anything reckless. You hear me?" he said pointing an accusing finger at him.

Yuu raised his hands up in a gesture of surrender. "I hear you, mother. I won't do anything."

"Why you!" Kimizuki growled.

Yoichi sweat-dropped. "Now now. Kimizuki didn't you say we had to go?" he questioned. He wanted to give Yuu and Mika some alone time.

Kimizuki sighed, getting at what Yoichi was hinting. "I did didn't I? Anyway bye Yuu." he said as he exited the room. Yoichi waved him goodbye and followed Kimizuki out the door. Yuu gave them a wave goodbye.

The sun was beginning to set outside and it cast shadows that danced across the wall. Yuu saw them every day he was in there but something didn't look right. One shadow looked like the shape of a person. His eyes widened and he stared outside the window. He instictively reached for his sword to find it not there. 'God damn Guren taking away my weapon.'

"Who's there?" Yuu asked. "Who's there?" he repeated.

Mika swallowed and stepped out of the shadows and into the room. "Hi Yuu. " He waved shyly.

Yuu's eyes widened in shock. "Mika?"

He nodded. "It's me. I wanted to see you again. After that day I had no idea what your condition was."

Yuu looked down at his hands. "So I worried you too huh?"

Mika hesitantly sat down next to him. He had no idea what to do. So he just went with the truth. "Yeah you did. I had no idea if you were even alive at that point. But I'm happy to see you awake." Mika smiled.

Yuu smiled back. Tears were brimming his eyes. Yes Yuu. The one who never made friends and was practically a revenge obsessed maniac was crying. Not able to keep it in anymore he hugged Mika.

"I thought you were dead! I thought I would never be happy again! I-I." Yuu cried, and silent tears flowed down his cheeks. Mika never saw this vulnerable side of him before. Not knowing what else to do he wrapped his arms around him holding him close to him.

Yuu sobbed into Mika's chest feeling the muscle flex under his clothes. Mika's protective side took over as he ran his fingers through Yuu's hair. It just felt so right. Mika's feelings from four years ago resurfaced at finally getting a proper reunion with his Yuu. Yes he loved Yuu. He did back when they were in the orphanage and he planned to make his feelings known after they escaped. Sadly things didn't go according to plan. Now he had Yuu back and he wasn't going to let him go.

Yuu parted away from Mika and wiped his tears away. "Sorry about that." he apologized.

"It's alright. You've held that in for a while now huh?" Mika said.

Yuu nodded. "So what now?" He looked out the window. "You're a vampire now. What's going to happen?"

Mika looked down at him and smiled. "Race doesn't determine the side. At first I was on the human side. Then I was on no one's side. I didn't know who to trust. I just knew I had to find you. Now I'm thinking I'll be with you guys. After all if you trust the humans I see no reason why I shouldn't."

Yuu looked over at him. Was this the same Mika? He remembered Mika trying to get him to run away with him and abandon the humans. "You mean that?" he asked.

"Yeah. Not all of them are bad. I saw that conversation between you, Kimizuki, and Yoichi. I heard a conversation between Shinoa and Mitsuba earlier. That was accidental though. Then Kimizuki found me and brought me here."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. You mean to tell me.. you had a conversation with Kimizuki and didn't kill each other." Yuu asked. Kimizuki was so easy to get mad at.

"We about did but don't worry. We won't. I assure you." Mika said.

Yuu sighed. "That's a relief. Now that leaves two problems."

Mika looked at him. What problems could there be.

"First off is Guren. I highly doubt he'll let you in the army let alone let you live. If he sees you all hell is gonna break loose." Yuu said. Mika could see the worry in his eyes.

Mika sighed. "I'll think of something to convince him. Then again I did stab him that one time and about killed him. He seems like the type to hold a grudge too. What have I got myself into."

Yuu sweat-dropped. "A lot of trouble is what. Guren's already mad at me for not killing you that one time. Then there's the problem of your food source."

Mika looked at him a little bit startled. Yuu looked back at him with a serious expression. "I know you. You wouldn't drink a human's blood. You wouldn't be able to do it. So you must of had some place you got it from. Like another vampire. How are you gonna live without it?" He asked.

Mika looked down and diverted his gaze away. Yuu was sharp. And he wasn't as much of an idiot as he was four years ago. "You're right I haven't drank a human's blood and I don't plan too. I have about ten day's worth of Krul's blood but after that. I guess I didn't think about it."

"Krul? You mean the queen of the vampires?" Yuu asked. Yes he paid some attention in class.

"Yes, she's the queen. And I'm her quote on quote "Pet."" Mika said.

"Dang you worked your way up in society huh?" Yuu joked lightly. Mika smiled at the tried attempt to lighten the mood. Suddenly Yuu snapped his fingers and stood up. Mika was a bit surprised at the sudden action. "I think I have a solution to your food source problem." Yuu said. He was smiling lightly. 'What are you thinking.'Mika thought.

"Drink my blood." Yuu said.

Mika did a double take. Yuu did not just say that. Right? Right? "Y-You're kidding."

"Nope. I mean come on. Nobody in the rest of this place would let you. I however know you wouldn't hurt me intentionally. So I'd trust you to do that. I've entrusted my life to you before." Yuu said.

Mika was trembling slightly. "And you see where that got us. No. I refuse to drink from you. I could kill you. I've never bitten someone before." That was technically true. He never really bit anyone in the neck. The only time he ever bit someone was four years ago when he bit Krul's arm.

"But you won't kill me. I know you. I trust you. If you can manage to convince Guren to let you into the army and fight for us, then surely drinking a little bit of my blood won't be a bad arrangement. A good enough amount to keep both of us healthy." Yuu argued. He did have a point. It was just something Mika didn't want to acknowledge.

Mika shook his head. "NO! I refuse to hurt the one I love!" Realization of what he said kicked in and he covered his mouth with his hands. Yuu, however, froze. 'He loves me?' was the only thing he could process through his brain. When he was finally able to move again he took a few steps foward and captured Mika's lips in a kiss. Mika barely had any time to react, but he soon closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around Yuu's waist.

They seperated from lack of air. Yuu took a seat next to Mika and wrapped his arms around his chest and snuggled close to him. "I love you too." he said. Mika's senses returned to normal and his heart was pounding against his chest. He put his arms around Yuu in a protective embrace and placed his head in Yuu's black mop of hair. "I guess. Your arrangement wouldn't be too bad." he finally admitted. Yuu always had a way of winning an argument with him.

Yuu looked up at him. "You mean it?"

"Yeah I do. But the moment you feel dizzy, tell me to stop. Ok?" Mika pleaded.

Yuu smiled. "Of course. As if I'd let you do that anyway. So stop worrying. Ok?"

Mika chuckled. Life was looking up again.
