Chapter 9
"She seems... Confused, and is constantly flushing when she hears your name." Fiyero added. And oh, Elphaba was screwed...
"Wait... What?" Elphaba said, her voice a little louder then she had originally intended. She was not expecting to hear anything about Glinda acting like that.
"Yeah. Did you hook up with her or something? Lik-" Fiyero was cut off.
"Yero! What the fuck?!" Elphaba yelled. She looked even more surprised, but this time her face was flushed violet.
"I mean- im just saying, if she's this flustered... You did something though... Right? Or... Or you DID hook up." Fiyero yelled.
"W-What?- Yero, no. I just said yes to hanging out with her more...? And I don't think I like her..." Elphaba said, turning her face away.
"Okay, yeah... Suurreee..." Fiyero added, smirking. He took his leave out of the room soon after.
Elphaba was now left to her own mind, and mental madness... She started to think, and eventually...
"Oh..." Elphaba muttered, she now started to understand what the head reeling, face flushing, etc... Feelings were, and she started to combust. Did she have... feelings for Glinda? Maybe... She would figure it out afterword. Elphaba started pacing around her room nervously as she tried to process.
Glinda kept hearing Elphaba's name... It was almost like people were throwing it around just because they knew how Glinda would react. Even if it was just an occasional 'Ms. Thropp,' Glinda still felt a flush creep up her neck as she remembered Elphaba saying "Yes" To her asking if they could hang out while being a nervous wreck.
Her students started to flood into her room, and Glinda started to force herself to focus as she taught her classroom. She started to joyfully teach her classroom while she tried to bury the feelings of gay panic she was feeling. (Even though she didn't know it was a gay panic...)
The eyes of Glinda's classroom felt like daggers piercing into her, but she forced herself to push through it before she could end her lecture and let her students sketch. When she finally managed to finish what she was talking about, (Even though it felt like 1 billion years...) She plopped down into her chair and started aggressively drawing.
She started drawing other people at first, like her father the HIghmuster, her best friend Fiyero, her good friends Tibbett, Crope, and Boq, but she left space for two people in the middle: herself, and Elphaba. She drew the both of them smiling at each other, making her own face look ecstatic to look back at Elphaba.
The bell rung, which startled Glinda. She said bye to all her students, before pulling out her lunch bag and grabbing a fancy-looking sandwich.
Glinda's door was opened by Tibbett, who was smiling so widely at his book, it seemed concerning. Obviously, it intrigued Glinda that there were two girls on the cover of the book.
"Glinda!!! Guess who gave me this... Amazingly lesbian book!" Tibbett yelled, smiling happily.
"Who?? I... It actually looks..." Glinda's face flushed a shade of pink before she finished. "It looks nice..." Glinda finished, mumbling it.
"El-pha-ba." Tibbett said, overly pronouncing the syllables. Glinda's face turned into confusion.
"Oh, i forgot to tell you. if you want a really good romance book, go to Elphaba." Crope said, walking into the room with an apple in his mouth.
"And she makes you pay her for the book, which is... Smart." Fiyero said, dragging Boq behind him. All of them turned their heads when they heard Elphaba's flushed face as she stormed in. obviously, she did not want them to tell Glinda this.
"Oh, really?" Glinda asked, smiling smugly at Elphaba, who's face flushed. Elphaba tried coming up with a response, but was way too flustered for her response to be normal.
"It- It doesn't matter... It is just a book..." Elphaba muttered not-so convincingly.
"Well, Elphie. I didn't know you liked... romance." Glinda said and smiled wider.
"Everyone... Can we just fucking eat??" Boq said and pulled out some sort of salad.
"Yeah, yeah." Tibbett said, and started chowing down on a sandwich.
"Honestly, it's cute." Glinda said, and everyone just stared at Glinda. She felt a big flush spread across her face as she turned away in her chair. She eventually heard Fiyero chuckle and whisper something into Boq's ear as the guys all were snickering.
"Oh. U-Uhm... Mhm." Elphaba muttered, and kept eating.
Glinda felt like the happiest person in the world watching Elphaba eat quietly with a small smile on her face.
