Chapter 6
“We’re here! We’re here!” Kara squealed as the car pulled up. It had been 2 days since they arrived at Alex and Kara's home. Eliza had suggested the girls go to the Winter Fair for the night. Tomorrow was Christmas Eve and Eliza claimed she needed a few free hours to finish shopping. So now the four girls were at the fair. As soon as car stopped Kara opened the door and pulled Lena with her. Maggie laughed as she watched Lena rush to keep up with Kara.
“Kara’s not real subtle with the Lena thing. Is she.” Maggie commented as she got out the car.
Alex chuckled as she followed Maggie up to the ticket booth. The Winter Fair was basically just a regular fair that served hot chocolate and had Santa Claus as an attraction. Apparently it was unnecessary to buy tickets as Lena had already bought and left them for them. Alex had always loved the fair. Partially because Kara’s excitement was contagious and partly because of the atmosphere of frivolity. She’d come here with a boyfriend once. Watched as he won her a stuffed bear and bared it he kissed her on the Ferris wheel. But it had never quite felt as she imagined it would. Today, was different. Alex knew that she and Maggie weren’t actual together, but it still felt different. It felt nice. The soft glow of the lights illuminated the world in a way which made everything romantic. Most of all Maggie. And her dimpled smile.
“Come on Danvers. I’ll buy you funnel cake.” Maggie smiled as she grabbed Alex’s hand and pulled her into the thick of it.

“You have powdered sugar on your nose.”
Kara blinked and let the empty plate fall into the trash. Powdered sugar still clinging on it where the funnel cake once sat.
“Just here.” Lena said as she touched a spot on her own face. When Kara started to viciously scrub the side of her face. Lena laughed and took Kara’s hand. Stopping her arm from moving.
“You got it.” Lena said. She was prepared to let go of Kara’s hand but was surprised when Kara’s fingers skimmed down her wrist and intertwined with hers. Lena met Kara’s eyes and Kara smiled at her. A soft sweet smile the made her heart flutter. Lena found herself smiling back as Kara tugged her hand.
They had been at this fair for around an hour and Kara hand been very friendly and very touchy feely. Hand touching and hugs were given with even more freedom than usually. And Lena had caught Kara staring a few times. She’d turn to look at Kara to see that Kara’s eyes were already on her. A blush would spread across Kara’s cheeks as she turned away. Lena was becoming more positive that Kara had feelings for her. Hopefully they would find a moment to discuss it.
“I love this game!” Kara cried as she brought them to a stop in front of a stall. It was that old carnival game where you try to knock over bottles with a ball. Lena knew that the bottles were weighted down to ensure they weren’t easy to tip.
“Ok, ladies here you go.” The stall worker wearing reindeer ears passed them three balls each.
“Ok, you ready to play Lena!” Kara asked. Her cute little grin in place.
“Alright. But winner chooses next activity.” Lena challenged.
“You got yourself a deal.” Kara smiled. Kara turned to throw her ball and Lena smiled at the Kara’s tongue stuck out of her teeth as she concentrated.
“Booo and Yeah!” Kara spun and clapped excitedly as she knocked down the bottles. Her throw had been a lot harder than Lena’s expected. Lena’s first ball missed the bottles. Kara missed her second throw and pouted adorably. Lena managed to hit one her second throw but it didn’t knock the bottles down. Kara knocked them all over her third time and Lena managed one.
“So I guess that means I win!” Kara clapped her hands excitedly.

“The alignment is off on this thing.” Alex complained as she through her gun down. Maggie just beat her at another game of Duck Shooting.
“Keep saying that Danvers. Keep saying that.” Maggie laughed as she picked another prize from the window. Maggie walked up behind Alex and whispered in her ear, “If you want I can give you some pointers on your stance.” When Alex looked back she saw the flirtation in Maggie’s eyes. Alex blushed deeply and Maggie grinned when she saw it. She enjoyed flustering Alex. Especially since Alex seemed so easily flustered recently. Alex gaze noticeably flickered to Maggie’s lips before she spun around.
“Let’s switch guns. See who’s laughing then.” Alex replied. Her voice a bit rougher than usual.
“You’re on Danvers.” Maggie grinned. They threw some more money on the counter and lined up their shots. Maggie hit 14 ducks and Alex hit 21.
“Is there a polite way to say ‘I told you so’?” Alex asked with grin. Alex picked out a prize for herself but stall-keeper looked perturbed.
“Listen ladies, I don’t know if you guys are like cops or soldiers or whatever. But can you hit up another stall? You’re taking all my swag.” The guy complained. Apparently most people didn’t hit the amount of ducks needed to get a prize.
“We’re DEO actual. Super-secret Alien justice agency.” Maggie told the guy. Alex’s mouth fell open at Maggie’s answer.
“She’s just kidding!” Alex told the guy as she pulled Maggie away. Her arm going around Maggie’s waist and her other taking Maggie’s arm.
“She’s right. We’re actually the CIA.” Maggie said as she was dragged away by Alex and enjoying the confused look on the stall-keepers face. She also wasn’t immune to the fact that Alex had arm around her waist. Even if it was just to drag her.
“Not funny.” Alex said. Her face taking on that in-charge serious locked jaw look that Maggie had seen directed at suspects. She had always found it kinda hot.
“I thought it was kinda funny.” Maggie grinned as she let her hand slid into Alex’s. “Come on Danvers. I’ll buy you a hot chocolate.” Maggie laughed as she pulled Alex with her and she didn’t miss Alex’s little smile as she followed.

“So what do you want to do next? It is your choice since you won” Lena asked. Kara just smiled and linked arms with Lena and leaned into her. Grinning she led Lena through the crowd.
Kara was getting a bit nervous. Just a bit. The past hour had been wonderful. They’d eaten funnel cakes and played games and held hands and Kara was feeling so alive. She was certain that her crush on Lena was fairly obvious. She’d been caught staring more than once but Lena hadn’t pulled away or acted awkward. Instead Lena leaned into the physical contact and even initiated it. Which gave Kara encouragement and now Kara led her to the giant Ferris wheel.
“Ride for two please.” Kara said to the worker. She led Lena into the seat and they settled in for their assent.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been on a Ferris Wheel before.” Lena said as she leaned into Kara. “It wasn’t exactly appropriate for a Luthor.”
“Well, what do ya think?” Kara questioned.
“It’s lovely. The glow of the lights. The slow rocking of the carriage. It’s almost romantic.” Lena said. Her eyes landed on Kara and Kara turned away and began fiddling with her fingers.
“Um….Lena, I need to tell you something…..if that’s ok?” Kara asked. Even though it sounded like a jumble of words.
“Of course Kara……anything.” Lena said.
“Umm…..I think….no I have……I like you Lena. Like I…..like like you. I mean….” Lena silenced her. She tilted her head and pressed her lips to Kara’s. It was light kiss. Barely more than brush of the mouths but enough to tingle Kara’s insides.
“I like you too, Kara.” Lena smiled against Kara’s mouth before pulling away.
“Really.” Kara asked
“Yes. Really.” Lena smiled before snuggling back into Kara. A happiness settled over Kara. Lena liked her. Millionaire, CEO, genius Lena Luthor liked little Kara Danvers. Except Kara Danvers wasn’t Kara’s real name. Her name was Kara Zor-el. And she also went by Supergirl. Which Lena didn’t know.
Lies. There was always so many lies. Lies about her powers, lies about her family, lies about her job. Kara had been hurt by lies and still she lied. Lena had also been hurt by lies. Her mother and her brother had been terrible to her. Kara wouldn’t start a relationship with Lena with more lies.
“Lena, I have to tell you something else.” Kara said as they exited the carriage. Lena still huddling against her and held onto her arm tightly.
“Yes?” Lena said as she gave Kara a quick kiss to the cheek. Kara pulled Lena behind a building and away from the crowd. As Kara pulled her into the shadows Lena leaned in and kissed her again. Her hands went to Kara’s lower back and Kara felt the tip of her tongue. The feel of Lena’s mouth on hers nearly made Kara forget what she was about to do. Kara managed to pull away and slipped out of Lena’s arms.
“I really do have something important to tell you.” Kara said as kept her distance from Lena. Afraid to touch her again as it would might make her weak enough not to confess the truth.
“Ok?” Lena said. Her eyes were dilated as she gazed a Kara. A longing in her eyes.
“Lena, I…I’m Supergirl.” Kara confessed. She turned away from Lena;s gaze. Afraid to see her reaction.
“What?” Lena asked. Sure she had misheard.
“I...I’m Supergirl, Lena.” Kara repeated. Her eyes going to Lena’s face to study her reaction.
“You….you’re Supergirl?” Lena said. Her eyes hard on Kara. Her face tense. Jaw locked.
“Yes…and I told you because I don’t want us to start anything when we have secrets and I trust you because you’re a good amazing person and….” Kara started to trail off when Lena took a step toward her. Lena’s arms reached up and she gently removed Kara’s glasses. Kara smiled at Lena weakly as Lena studied her face.
“It’s true.” Lena whispered as she took a step backward.
“Lena, I’m sorry! I wanted to tell you! I just couldn’t...” Kara said as she stepped toward Lena.
“Stop.” Lena said and Kara froze. “I….I need some time to think about this. You….your cousin imprisoned by brother. You hate my mom. I….I need some time to think.” Lena said as she backed away from Kara. She turned away and disappeared in the crowd. Leaving Kara alone.
