Chapter 6

Sasuke sat on the couch, leaning back with his arms crossed, his sharp eyes staring at nothing in particular. The apartment was quiet—too quiet. It had been a week since Naruto left, and despite trying to focus on other things, Sasuke couldn’t shake the feeling of something missing.

Then, the doorbell rang.

Sasuke frowned slightly. He wasn’t expecting anyone. He stood up, making his way to the door, and when he opened it, his eyes widened ever so slightly before he schooled his expression back into its usual calm.

Standing there was none other than his older brother, Itachi.

He didn’t show much emotion on his face, but deep inside, he was… relieved. Happy, even. It had been a while since he last saw his brother, and despite everything, Itachi was still the one person he looked up to the most.

Sasuke stepped aside. “Come in.”

Itachi gave a small smirk and walked inside, taking a slow look around the apartment before turning back to his little brother.

“What are you doing here?” Sasuke asked, closing the door behind him.

Itachi raised an eyebrow. “What, I can’t visit my little brother?”

Sasuke rolled his eyes. “It’s been a month since you last came here.”

Itachi sighed. “I know. I’ve been busy.”

“With the gang?” Sasuke guessed.

Itachi nodded. “Yeah.”

Sasuke didn’t say anything, but his eyes softened for a second. He understood. Itachi had a lot of responsibilities, but that didn’t mean Sasuke wasn’t annoyed by how little they saw each other.

Seeing the brief flicker of emotion in Sasuke’s face, Itachi smirked slightly. “Did you miss me, Sasuke?”

Sasuke stiffened, his expression turning into a glare. “Tch. Not at all.”

Itachi let out a rare chuckle. “Liar.”

Sasuke turned his face away, feeling a small warmth in his chest. Itachi always knew how to push his buttons, but he didn’t really mind.

They walked over to the couch, sitting down across from each other.

“So,” Itachi started, resting an arm on the back of the couch, “tell me about your life. Anything new?”

Sasuke thought for a moment, then shrugged. “Same as usual.”

Itachi gave him a look. “Really? I heard that you had someone staying with you for a week.”

Sasuke’s body tensed just a little. Of course, Itachi would know about that.

“What was his name again?” Itachi asked casually.

Sasuke looked away. “It’s not important. He already left.”

“Hn.” Itachi hummed, studying his brother’s expression. He didn’t push for more information, but he had a feeling there was more to it than Sasuke was letting on.

Sasuke, wanting to change the subject, leaned forward. “What about the gang? How is it?”

Itachi nodded slightly. “It’s fine. We’ve had a few problems here and there, but nothing we can’t handle.”

Sasuke hesitated for a second before he finally said, “I want to join.”

Itachi’s relaxed expression faded, replaced by something more serious. “No.”

Sasuke frowned. “Why not?”

“You’re still young. It’s dangerous.”

“I’m 21.” Sasuke’s voice was firm. “You joined when you were 18. And you know I can protect myself.”

Itachi narrowed his eyes. “It’s not about your skills, Sasuke. The life of a gang member isn’t just about fighting. There are things you don’t understand yet.”

Sasuke clenched his fists. “Then teach me. I want to be part of it. I don’t want to be left out anymore.”

Itachi studied him for a long moment. He could see the determination in Sasuke’s eyes—the same determination he himself had when he was younger.

After a pause, he sighed. “…Fine.”

Sasuke blinked, slightly surprised.

“The gang needs new recruits soon. You can join,” Itachi said. “But you won’t do any dangerous missions.”

Sasuke’s lips curled into a small, satisfied smirk. “Deal.”

Itachi sighed again, shaking his head slightly. “You’re impossible.”

As the night wore on, the two brothers had dinner together, talking about small things. It was a rare moment—peaceful, like they were just two normal brothers catching up.

But soon, Itachi had to leave. After saying his goodbyes, he stepped out into the night, leaving Sasuke alone once again.

Sasuke went to bed, but sleep didn’t come easily. His mind was full of thoughts—about the gang, about his brother, about the path he was about to take.

And then… there was him.

Naruto.

Sasuke stared at the ceiling, his thoughts drifting to the infamous gang leader Kyubi. He had heard so much about him. Even his brother respected the guy. Sasuke had always been curious about him—what kind of man could earn that level of respect?

But now, he will about to know.

After itachi leaves the house he directly goes to the gang meeting room .

The atmosphere in the dimly lit warehouse was heavy with authority. Shadows stretched across the floor, flickering under the dull glow of overhead lights. The air smelled of metal, gunpowder, and something unmistakably dangerous.

At the center of the room stood Naruto Uzumaki—Kyubi.

He was dressed in his usual black coat, his golden hair standing out even in the darkness. His sharp blue eyes scanned the room, taking in the familiar faces of his most trusted gang members. Beside him, Kakashi Hatake and Shikamaru Nara stood with composed expressions, their presence reinforcing the authority Naruto commanded.

Around them, some of the most notorious names in the underground world stood in attention—Pain, Nagato, Kisame, Konan, Zabuza, and Hidan. Each of them was a force to be reckoned with, and together, they formed the backbone of the most feared gang in the city.

As Naruto stepped forward, the quiet murmurs in the room died down instantly.

“All of you are here, good,” Naruto said, his voice calm but firm. He looked at each of them before continuing, “We’re expecting new recruits in a few days.”

The room remained silent, but there was an air of curiosity.

“To see if they’re actually worth our time, we’re going to give them a mission.”

His eyes glowed with a dangerous edge, a hint of amusement playing on his lips.

“Of course,” he added, tilting his head slightly, “it won’t be a real mission.”

Some of the members smirked knowingly.

Shikamaru stepped forward, taking over the explanation. His voice was smooth, calculated.

“This is a test. We need to see their instincts, their reactions, and most importantly, their potential,” Shikamaru explained, his sharp gaze sweeping across the room. “The plan is simple, but every detail needs to be executed perfectly.”

The gang members nodded, understanding that this was more than just a test—it was a trap.

They didn’t let just anyone into Kyubi’s gang.

Pain folded his arms. “How many recruits?”

“Not sure yet,” Kakashi answered, his tone neutral. “Itachi is bringing one of them himself.”

At the mention of Itachi, a few of them exchanged glances.

Kisame chuckled, his shark-like grin appearing. “If Itachi thinks the guy is worth bringing in, then this should be fun.”

Hidan scoffed. “Tch, what’s the big deal? If they’re weak, we’ll just get rid of them.”

Konan shot him a look but remained silent.

Naruto smirked slightly, but his voice was sharp when he spoke. “No one is dying unless I say so, Hidan.”

Hidan clicked his tongue in annoyance but didn’t argue.

Shikamaru continued explaining, his voice never losing its casual confidence. The more he spoke, the more the gang members’ expressions shifted—from curiosity to interest to full understanding.

By the time he finished, the room was silent again.

Then, one by one, they nodded.

“As you say, Kyubi,” they all said in unison.

Naruto’s smirk widened slightly. He had complete control over the room—over them.

Everything was set.

The recruits had no idea what they were walking into.
