Chapter 2
As Naruto sat on the couch, lost in thought, he heard footsteps behind him. Turning slightly, he saw Sasuke standing there with his usual indifferent expression.
"It's late. I'm going to sleep," Sasuke announced. "You should rest too, so you can recover quickly and leave me alone."
Naruto scowled at the last part but let it slide. "Yeah, yeah. But where am I gonna sleep?"
Sasuke rolled his eyes. "On the couch, idiot."
Naruto frowned. "Hey, I’m injured! Shouldn't I get the bed?"
"It’s my bed," Sasuke replied simply, as if that settled everything.
Naruto huffed, crossing his arms. "That’s so unfair! We should take turns sleeping in the bed."
Sasuke smirked, an amused glint in his eyes. "Fine. You take the couch at night, and I’ll take the bed... at night."
Naruto blinked, then scowled when he realized he’d been tricked. "That’s the same thing, bastard!"
Sasuke just shrugged, already walking toward the bedroom. "Too late. You already agreed."
Grumbling to himself, Naruto flopped onto the couch. He shifted around, trying to find a comfortable position, but no matter what, the cushions felt lumpy and awkward. He sighed in frustration.
"Stupid Sasuke and his stupid tricks," he muttered under his breath. "I should’ve just taken the bed first and argued later."
Hours passed, and Naruto found himself tossing and turning. His back ached from the weird angle of the couch, and no matter how he adjusted, sleep refused to come. He groaned softly, staring at the ceiling. It was going to be a long night.
---
The next morning, Naruto groggily dragged himself to the kitchen, his limbs sore from the uncomfortable couch. Rubbing his eyes, he yawned and reached for a glass of water.
Sasuke was already sitting at the table, sipping his coffee like it was the most peaceful morning in the world. His hair was slightly messier than usual, but his face remained as unreadable as ever.
Naruto yawned again and mumbled, "Good morning."
Sasuke glanced at him. "Morning."
Naruto scowled, his exhaustion making him slower to react. "Tch, are you always this grumpy in the morning?"
Sasuke sighed and took another sip of his coffee. "I’m just not a morning person."
Naruto chuckled, his mood lifting slightly. "You were like this last night too, though."
Sasuke narrowed his eyes slightly. "I wasn’t grumpy."
Naruto let out a loud laugh, shaking his head. "You can’t even say that with a straight face! That just proves my point."
Sasuke clicked his tongue in annoyance and went back to drinking his coffee, ignoring Naruto’s laughter.
Naruto, still chuckling, plopped down on the chair across from him. "You know, I think I should get the bed tonight. You tricked me yesterday."
Sasuke raised an eyebrow. "Too bad. A deal's a deal."
Naruto groaned. "Bastard."
Sasuke smirked. "Dobe."
After finishing his coffee, Sasuke went to his bedroom and grabbed some clothes before returning to Naruto. Without much thought, he tossed them at him.
Naruto caught the clothes and looked at them in confusion. "What's this for?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.
Sasuke crossed his arms and leaned against the wall. "We're going out to buy you new clothes. The ones you're wearing are covered in blood," he stated matter-of-factly. "So go take a bath and change. The bathroom is right next to the bedroom."
Naruto frowned. "Your clothes won’t fit me," he complained.
"They're not mine," Sasuke replied calmly. "They belonged to my brother. They should fit you better than walking around in bloodstained clothes."
Naruto hesitated for a moment before shrugging. "Fine, fine." He headed to the bathroom, letting out a dramatic sigh.
Once inside, he stripped off his ruined clothes and stepped into the warm shower. The hot water felt refreshing, washing away the dried blood and dirt from his skin. He stayed under the stream for a few minutes, letting himself relax, before finally stepping out and putting on the clothes Sasuke had given him.
When he looked at himself in the mirror, he noticed the outfit was a little tight, but at least it was clean. "Better than before, I guess," he muttered to himself before walking out into the living room.
Sasuke was already waiting for him, arms crossed. His sharp eyes scanned Naruto briefly before he gave a slight nod. "It looks fine."
Naruto huffed. "Yeah, yeah. So where are we going?"
Sasuke pulled out his keys and locked the door behind them as they stepped out of the apartment. "First, we're going to a café for breakfast," he said. "There's a clothing store nearby, so we'll go there after."
Naruto grinned. "Sounds good to me!"
The two walked through the streets in silence, the city slowly coming to life around them. When they arrived at the café, the warm aroma of coffee and freshly baked pastries filled the air. They found a table near the window and took their seats.
As soon as the waiter arrived, Naruto excitedly placed his order. "I'll have a big bowl of ramen!"
Sasuke turned his head toward him, staring in disbelief. "You're going to eat ramen in the morning?" he asked, sounding almost disgusted.
"Of course!" Naruto responded as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Ramen is life! I can eat ramen every day, every time!"
Sasuke let out a quiet sigh, shaking his head. "Unbelievable," he muttered under his breath before ordering himself a coffee and a sandwich.
The food arrived quickly, and the two ate in silence. Naruto happily slurped his noodles while Sasuke sipped his coffee, occasionally glancing at the blonde, who was clearly enjoying his meal a little too much.
After paying the bill, they started walking toward the clothing store. They had been walking for about thirty minutes when Naruto finally spoke up, a hint of impatience in his voice.
"Oi, Sasuke, how far is this store?" he asked, rubbing the back of his head.
"Just five more minutes," Sasuke replied casually.
Naruto narrowed his eyes at him. "You’ve been saying that for the last fifteen minutes!" he complained. "If it’s that far, why don’t we just book a cab?"
Sasuke glanced at him and shook his head. "It’s nice to walk," he said simply. "Besides, I don’t want to waste money on a cab."
Naruto rolled his eyes. "Don’t worry about that, I’ll pay you later."
Sasuke shot him a skeptical look but didn’t argue further. They continued walking, the streets bustling with people. After a little more walking, they finally arrived at the clothing store. It was a small but cozy shop, with neatly arranged racks of clothes and a warm ambiance.
Naruto glanced around, taking in the sight. "Not bad," he muttered with a grin.
Sasuke walked ahead and gestured toward the store. "Go ahead, buy whatever you want. Just don’t spend too much money."
Naruto beamed at him and nodded enthusiastically. He wandered through the store, looking at different clothes. As a mafia leader, he was used to wearing suits most of the time, but he had always liked comfortable clothing as well. Eventually, he picked out a plain white shirt, a pair of black pants, an orange T-shirt, and a pair of trousers.
Sasuke raised an eyebrow when he saw the orange shirt. "Why are you getting that?"
Naruto grinned. "Because orange is my favorite color, duh."
Sasuke rolled his eyes but didn’t say anything else.
After Naruto tried on the clothes and found they fit well, Sasuke paid for them, and they left the store, walking side by side once again. The sun shone brightly, and the streets remained lively.
"You know," Naruto said, stretching his arms, "maybe walking wasn’t such a bad idea after all."
Sasuke simply responded with his usual "Hn."
