Chapter 20
The damp seeps into thin material as Link tries not to shiver.
Just ahead is an old man draped in robes, his frame bent with age and black eyes lit by the fires. He gestures to the sword floating in front of him, ‘it’s dangerous to go alone. Take this.’
Strangely, Link feels he’s making a horribly important choice. More than just taking a weapon from a doddering stranger. There’s a slight hesitation as Link clasps the hilt.
Done.
Something happened, but Link is not sure what. Probably not important anyway as Link has what he came for. There's no chitchat, just a short thank you before he turns and heads out of the cave. His stride is confident and sure. Nothing is getting in the way of saving the woman he loves.
A parody of a smile tugs at the old man’s mouth. It isn’t pleasant. ‘Poor Link. You’ve met with a terrible fate, haven’t you?’
