Chapter 16
Endless air. Endless sky.
It’s all Link can feel as he falls. He doesn’t panic. That would be foolish. With the calmness of one who had spent most of his life in the air, he spreads out his arms and legs to slow his descent. Hopefully enough time for someone – anyone - to save him
He blinks, and the island above becomes a tiny speck.
There’s a jerk as sharp claws pluck him from the air. Breathless, he can only dangle helplessly as Zelda’s wingloft drags them upwards with heavy wing beats. Back towards home.
Link is flung forwards like a rag doll back onto solid ground. He closes his eyes and listens to the exhausted honk of Zelda’s bird companion. The soothing melody of her voice as she soothes him.
Was she going to let you die?
Small, tiny thought. Banish it.
It’s shoved into the back of Link’s mind when he moves his head upwards and sees her smiling face. Bright as the sun.
