Chaos part 7
Sam‘s POV
Don’t panic, Sam. Everything will be fine. Just have a normal conversation with Adrianna. Just you and her. You were fine at the bar—just be like that now.
Sam sat stiffly in the rehearsal lounge, trying very hard to act normal. Abby and Anna had gone out, leaving the building quiet, except for the faint sound of Dre and Britt talking in the next room.
And, of course, Adrianna.
Who was sitting way too close for Sam’s brain to function properly.
Adrianna’s phone buzzed. She glanced at it, then turned to Sam. “Hey, Abby just texted me. What do you want for lunch?”
Sam blinked, her brain immediately going blank. “Uh—where are we eating?”
“Some new sandwich place,” Adrianna said, patting the seat next to her. “Come sit over here, I’ll show you the menu.”
Sam hesitated. “I’ll stand. There’s nowhere to sit.”
Adrianna raised an eyebrow. “Don’t be silly, sit next to me.”
Sam froze.
Adrianna was sitting on a small chair. A chair meant for one person.
If Sam sat next to her, they’d basically be on top of each other.
“What are you waiting for? Come on!” Adrianna grabbed Sam’s wrist and pulled her down, making Sam practically land on her lap.
Sam’s brain malfunctioned.
“Okay,” Adrianna said, completely unbothered, “they have salami, chicken, ew—avocado peanut butter.”
She kept listing the menu items, but Sam wasn’t listening.
No, she was hyper-focused on the fact that Adrianna still had an arm around her waist.
“Sam?”
Sam jumped, letting out a tiny squeal. “What?!”
Adrianna grinned. “What do you want?”
Sam scrambled for an answer. “Uh— I’ll have salami.”
Adrianna stared at her, amused. “You made me list every single item on the menu just to pick the first one I said?”
Sam panicked. “Sorry! I didn’t mean to—I’ll pick something else—”
Adrianna laughed, standing up. “I’m joking, Sam. It’s fine.” She stretched, still chuckling. “I need the restroom. Be right back.”
Sam nodded, trying to breathe.
As soon as Adrianna left, she collapsed forward, face in her hands.
Oh my God. Get it together, Sam.
Adrianna was perfect, and Sam kept embarrassing herself.
Okay. New plan. Just be friendly. Joke around. Have fun.
By the time Adrianna came back, Sam had collected herself.
“Hey,” she said casually.
Adrianna plopped back down—directly onto Sam’s lap.
Sam made a high-pitched noise.
“Do you mind?” Adrianna asked, not even trying to squeeze next to her.
Sam giggled nervously. “Nope! It’s fine! Totally fine!”
“Good.” Adrianna smirked. “Wanna watch something?”
“Uh, sure! What show?”
Adrianna thought for a second, then grinned. “How about… The Bachelor? What do you think?”
Sam had zero thoughts about The Bachelor right now because her brain was too busy screaming about the fact that Adrianna was still on her lap.
Adrianna took Sam’s silence as agreement and pulled up the first episode on her phone.
Sam forced herself to focus.
“This show is good,” Adrianna said after a few minutes.
Sam nodded quickly. “Yeah! Totally! Addictive!”
Without thinking, she wrapped her arms around Adrianna’s shoulders, pulling her closer.
Adrianna didn’t react.
She didn’t pull away.
She just… settled in.
Oh my God. What is happening right now.
They were already exhausted from rehearsals. But now, curled up in a comfortable chair, holding each other, watching TV?
It was only a matter of time before they both dozed off.
Half an hour later, Sam woke up to the sound of women screaming.
“Oh my God, what is that noise?” she groaned, voice still sleepy.
“Ugh,” Adrianna muttered. “It’s my phone.”
Sam blinked herself awake.
And then she realized.
She was lying completely on top of Adrianna.
Their faces were two inches apart.
Sam panicked.
"Sam," Adrianna grumbled, shifting slightly, "get off me."
Sam scrambled up so fast she nearly fell. "I’MSOSORRYIDIDN’TMEANTOMAKETHINGSAWKWARDBETWEENUSANDIHOPEWECANSTILLBEFRIENDS!"
Adrianna frowned, sitting up. “What?”
Sam stared at her, mortified.
Adrianna tilted her head. “I just need to open the door for Abby and Anna. They’re locked outside. What made things awkward?”
Sam’s face burned.
“It’s nothing,” she muttered. “Never mind.”
Adrianna gave her a confused look before heading to the door.
Meanwhile, Sam sat there, trying not to die.
It was only a matter of time before she completely screwed things up with Adrianna.
