James is boarding the train on his way to his fifth year at Hogwarts;he goes to his booth and realizes he is the first one here. As he patiently waits for the rest of his friend he takes out his tin from his pocket and opens it. "Oi earth to prongs" the voice came along with a hand on his shoulder,he looked up to find his best friend,Sirius black, "when didhe get here?" James question silently. "Yeah yeah I'm here" James responded while he stood to give Sirius a hug. They both sit down and before James can ask how he has been,Sirius beats him to it by saying "Why are you still obsessed with that tin,it's probably bogus anyways." "But what if it's not? I mean we both know that things appear in it sometimes,and they all make sense in a way. I will find out who this is,Sirius,I know it." James spoke with confidence in himself and his abilities to understand all of his "clues". Before Sirius responds,Remus and peter both walk into the train together,making a straight path towards the booth that James is at. Both boys stand to give hugs to their friends and then all four of them sit down. "Moony,wormy, please for the love of Merlin, tell James that this soulmate thing is ridiculous and just started to mess with first years?" Sirius all but begged the two boys looking exasperated "I don't know pads,maybe he is right? I mean what does it hurt to hope?" Peter said. "Thank you!!See Sirius? Peter agrees I'll find my soulmate this year!" James exclaimed with excitement "wait what? I never said that,do YOU think you are going to find your soulmate?" Peter said,in confusion and wry for his friends feelings. "Well I want to,it's been five years now,you'd think I'd have a clue of who it is by now,but I don't. Do any of you?" James asks, now seemingly frustrated at his tin for not just telling him who his soulmate is. When he looks at all his friends,he notices Remus looks almost sad,but he deems it nothing seeing as the full moon is close,so he looks at his other friends. "No,I haven't a clue,all I know is that they apparently like to smoke and maybe i guess read? I mean that could be anyone,that could be moony for all we know! That's just more proof this is all waffle." "Or who knows,you could get another clue and it may be really obvious." James sounded defensive, probably because he really wants this to be really. He is known to be a hopeless romantic. After awhile the conversation drifted off,everyone getting bored with the talk on potential soulmates. Well,everyone besides James.

Time skip to when they arrive at Hogwarts,they walk into the great hall and take their seats while the new students get sorted into the different houses. After a while James sees Sirius' little brother,regulus black, walk into the great hall, suspiciously late. James watches as he and his friends walk to their seats and start eating,he looks over to Sirius and sees him also watching regulus,with something far away in his eyes. "Are you okay,Sirius?" He asks with concern lacing his voice. "Hm? Oh yeah I'm great!" Sirius puts in a very obviously forced smile as he says this,making James worry more,but he chooses not to press the matter while they are in the great hall.

They finish eating and head to their dorm to unpack,once they are done they all stay in their dorm and hang out while they catch up about what happened over the summer, all of them refraining from asking Sirius about his,knowing it's more of a taboo subject for all of them. "So you got to go to an actual Montrose magpie game? What was it like?" Peter asks James after they all get into their beds and start talking again "yes! It was so cool ,Pete,I even got an Angus Campbell jersey SIGNED by him. It was awesome,I should totally see if mum and dad can get you all tickets" all he got was groans from Remus and Sirius and an excited gasp from Peter "can you really do that? I would owe you my life"Peter said dramatically. "I definitely can try to,that would be so cool,us going to watch it together."
