Knock knock

The next morning, Aya woke up happier than she ever has. ‘Is this what it’s like to be in love? Why haven’t I done this before?!’ She thinks. Get gets out of bed. Her servants come to her and help her get ready, choosing a gown for the day. It was a simple, pink gown with off the shower sleeves and was paired with some white heels and a pearl necklace. Then Aya’s makeup was put on, it wasn’t anything special. Just some subtle blush paired with some mascara and lipgloss. Her hair was styled into twin braids today with two bows at the end. The small crown was placed on her head and she was ready for the day!

Aya walked to the dining room to see breakfast waiting for her, her father and mother, along with her twin brother bickering over the strawberries. Aya smiled, “Good morning.” Aya’s father smiled back, “Good morning dear, breakfast is waiting. Sit down.”

Aya sat down and thanked the food before beginning to eat. While eating she decided to ask her parents a question. “Mother, father, h-hypothetically.. what if we cancelled the ball.?” The king and queen looked at her in surprise. “Now sweetie, why would we cancel such an event? It’s for you to find a prince to marry. It’s for your good, princes from kingdoms all over the land are coming. Unless.. have you found one?” Her mother answered

Aya’s face turned a bit pink. “U-uhm no! I just, don’t like the idea of choosing right then and there. You know? I don’t want to rush into marriage-“. Her father cut her off. “Silence, Aya. You are turning eighteen soon. You need to find a prince before then. You will get married, for the sake of Green Day.” Aya sighed and pushed her plate away. “I’m full, I am going out.” Her mother frowned as her brothers became silent, they knew better than to bicker at this moment. “Be safe sweetie..” Her mother commented.

Aya stood up and headed out of the castle, calling a carriage to take her into the bustling town below the castle. On the ride, Aya thought about the conversation. She didn’t get it. Why did was her father and mother in such a rush to get her married? She didn’t like this one it. She knew they wouldn’t approve with Mitsuki, the prince she met yesterday. She wanted to call it fate, he was perfect to her. But it would all stay a day dream. He was a wanted convict in their kingdom. She wondered what kingdom he came from, Radiohead maybe? Or what if he came from the kingdom of Aerosmith? Whatever it was, it definitely was a cool kingdom. Aya looked outside the window of the carriage to see people gathering around it, excited to see the beloved princess of Green Day. If only they knew who she truly was, or who she loved.

(With Mitsuki)

Mitsuki was in the town, buying some food for herself. Her hood and mask was off, and her hair was down. so she looked different from the wanted poster. Her head turned as she heard commotion from the townspeople. It was a carriage, Mitsuki never had good eyesight, but she could make out who was in there. She recognized the person. It was princess Aya. The beautiful princess she met yesterday, possibly from fate. Today her hair was in twin braids, and she was wearing her crown. Mitsuki thought she looked amazing. Yet she’d probably say no matter how or what she wore.

Mitsuki finished buying her food and got closer, watching the people admire the princess. Aya Oosawa, the reason she stayed longer in the kingdom she’s wanted in. She would’ve left yesterday if it weren’t for Aya. Mitsuki wanted to get closer to the princess and god her uncle was probably worried sick on why she hasn’t returned, and why she’s wanted in the most powerful kingdom. She couldn’t help but feel a little guilty, instead of correcting Aya that Mitsuki in fact wasn’t a prince, she went along with it, and fooled her, that and for not even sending her uncle a message. Mitsuki knew she had to tell Aya in case things went further, but it wouldn’t hurt playing this game just a little bit longer, right?

(Back to Aya)

Aya got out of the carriage, people showering her with gifts she gracefully refused. Every move she made, every word she spoke, it all had to be done with grace and precision. Because that was the princess they admired. And that’s who she had to be. Aya couldn’t even begin to imagine what they would say if they saw who she was, or who she loved for that matter. She continued to walk through town, buying two baskets of strawberries for her and her brothers. They both loved them so two baskets would last a week at best.

She walked into the plaza where she saw a crowd of people. Aya walked towards the crowd, they parted the way for her, Aya came across to see a guard, parading something. “The wanted prince attacked me yesterday! He took a young maiden with him. Everyone! Beware! He is a danger!” Aya’s eyes widened. Oh no. That was the guard from yesterday. The guard saw her and pleaded. “Princess! Please do something! He kidnapped a maiden and took her hostage! He attacked a royal guard!”. He grabbed her hands and put them together. Aya was shocked but she tried to stay calm. “My father, the king, will deal with this. He doesn’t need you to alarm the people. They already are worried enough.” The guard quickly let go of her hands and nodded. “Yes princess.” He walked away, the crowd disappearing with him. Aya sighed and walked back to the carriage. She hopes prince mitsuki make it out safely, he was for sure in danger now. This definitely alerted the townspeople more than they should’ve.

She was still a little saddened though. If he had made it back to his kingdom, wherever it was, that would mean she wouldn’t see him again. Oh well, it’s not like anything between them could happen anyway.

That night at dinner, the king couldn’t stop complaining about the stupid prince that stole the sword. They still haven’t caught him, and the king was unusually mad about said sword, it didn’t seem like anything special. It was just a sword, but Aya digresses. She finished her dinner, carrying one of the baskets of strawberries she had bought with her to her room. She changed into her nightgown, undoing her twin braids and taking her makeup off. She grabbed her basket of strawberries and sat on her bed, eating them slowly.

Knock knock.

Aya jumped and looked to where the sound came from, someone was knocking on her window. Aya paused. Wait a minute, was that the prince from yesterday? He was wearing his hood and mask again, this time she could see him more clearly due to the lights in her room still being on. She could see his grey eyes, the mole under his right eye, his bangs. Aya ran to the window and opened it. “P-prince Mitsuki?!”. Mitsuki smiled. “The one and only.” Aya was shocked. Why was he here? “W-why are you here? Get inside!” Aya stepped out of the way as the prince entered her room. The prince. Her crush, is in her room. “Well.. I wanted to say hi earlier while you were in town.. but it’s hard when you’re always surrounded by people and guards.” Aya blushed. “You were there?” Mitsuki nodded. “Yeah, but in disguise. A-anyways. I’m also here to say goodbye. I’m returning to my kingdom tomorrow, and I came here to thank you for not snitching on me that night..” he smiled, or at least it looked like he did. Aya returned the smile. “It’s no problem, thank you for dragging me away from the guard. And yes, it’s probably for the best you return. People are scared of you now.” The prince laughed. “I’ll be sure to visit you, princess.” Aya’s face turned pink. “I’ll be looking forward to it prince Mitsuki..”.

Mitsuki gave her a tiny bow, “Well then I’m off.” Before he could go. “Wait! Which kingdom are you from anyway?” His eyes widened before relaxing again. “Nirvana. Kingdom of nirvana.” Aya sighed. Of course it was nirvana. That was the coolest kingdom. Makes sense. “Well then, goodbye prince Mitsuki. Until we meet again.”

“Until we meet again.” He quickly stole a strawberry from the basket and climbed down from the window, going into the dark forest once again, just like last night. Aya laughed. Oh geez.. she has it bad. She felt like she fell more in love with Mitsuki. She started thinking about the kingdom of nirvana. She didn’t know much about them. But they weren’t too far apart, she doesn’t know who said he was from a faraway kingdom because he clearly wasn’t. She always adored the architecture and music choice of the kingdom, loved it actually. Much better than her kingdom. But unfortunately, she had to keep that a secret. If people found out the perfect princess enjoyed another kingdom more than her own, people wouldn’t definitely criticize her over it. But she smiled nonetheless, taking a bite of a strawberry from the basket. She was looking forward for the next time Mitsuki would visit her.
