•Waterworks named the chat "Problem Children of UA"•
Waterworks: Welcome to the chat fuckers
Insomniac: Umi it's almost 11, what the Hell
Insomniac: We need to go to sleep
Blondie #1: Says the one named Insomniac
•Insomniac changed their name to Cat Whisperer•
Snappy Shark: Let's be real though
Snappy Shark: None of us go to bed early
Pinky: True that
Floaty: Why is Bakugou Blondie #1?
Pinky: Umiko's blonde
Broccoli Boi: If you think about it, there's technically 3 blondes in the chat
•Waterworks changed their name to Blondie #2•
Pikachu Knockoff: I'm not changing my name
Floaty: Why is the chat called 'Problem Children of UA'?
Blondie #2: Cuz I'm pretty sure Aizawa has wanted to expel you guys multiple times.
Blondie #2: Also cuz 'Toshi and I are pretty annoying
Cat Whisperer: True
Broccoli Boi: Hey Umi, how do you know Shinsou anyways?
Broccoli Boi: You guys seemed pretty close before the training started today
Pikachu Knockoff: I noticed that too
Cat Whisperer: She's my sister
Pinky: Wot?!
Pikachu Knockoff: I thought she would be Bakugou's sister with the way she looks and acts
Floaty: Yeah, they both seem to have lots of bottled up rage hidden in their bodies
Cat Whisperer: 2 angry Pomeranians
Blondie #1: WHAT DID YOU CALL ME YOU FUCKING EXTRA?!
Cat Whisperer: I'm just stating facts, Bakugou
Cat Whisperer: And the fact of the matter is that both of you are angry Pomeranians
Blondie #2: Hitoshi?
Blondie #2: I hope you sleep with the door closed
Cat Whisperer: And why is that?
Cat Whisperer: Umi?
Cat Whisperer: Hello?
Cat Whisperer: Oh no
Broccoli Boi: Should we be worried?
Pinky: Probably
Whoever invented alarms can kiss my ass. I woke up at the ungodly time of 6:30 on Wednesday to the sound of 'Baby Shark' blasting out of my phone. I sighed, rolling out of bed and stretching. My arms and back protested the movement, still sore from Aizawa running Hitoshi and I through the wringer yesterday during training. Now that he was confident in my ability to manage my quirk, he had no qualms about pushing me to my limits.
"It's all about being the best at what you do." He explained. "If you're the best at controlling your quirk, you can get that spot in 1-A without any issues."
I grabbed my clothes and made my way out of my room towards the bathroom, giving Racer a friendly scratch on the head as I passed her. I closed the bathroom door, getting ready to take a quick shower before getting breakfast. Turning the water on, I made it as cold as I could stand it before stripping and getting in. I washed myself quickly, feeling the excitement course through my veins. Today was my first day in General Studies and my first day going to actual school. Homeschooling was fun and all, but I didn't get to hang out and make friends with kids my age. Even though technically I was a year younger than everyone else, seeing as I had only just turned 15 and everyone I knew so far would be turning 16 this year, I still had hope to make more friends.
Turning off the shower and stepping out, I cried myself off and put on my uniform. The skirt was a little longer than I thought, and the jacket was a little tight around my shoulders, but it actually wasn't as bad as I first thought. I decided to leave my jacket unbuttoned for now, and I brushed and blow dried my hair, braiding it so it was out of my face before heading out of the bathroom and down the stairs. Mic was already in the kitchen, 4 mugs placed beside him on the counter.
"Black or cream and sugar?" He asked when he saw me. I thought for a moment.
The amount of excitement you have right now is enough to get you through the day. Eloise commented. For the love of God don't put more sugar in your system.
You take the fun out of everything, I retorted.
"Straight black." I replied, walking towards the toaster and popping in a bagel. Hitoshi came down the stairs, his uniform jacket off and hanging in his hand. He looked tired, and he had a small bruise forming in his cheek. I winced at the memory, feeling guilty for punching Hitoshi in the face during training...
It started when Aizawa wanted us to practice hand-to-hand combat. We had already been training for 2 hours at this point, and we were starting to feel the weight of sleep and soreness make its home in our bodies. We faced each other, getting into position and getting ready to fight. I had never fought someone before, so I really didn't know my own strength. Aizawa gave us the signal, and Hitoshi charged at me. I didn't have time to think, and I just swung my fist, feeling it connect with the skin of Hitoshi's cheek. He stopped moving, clamping his hand over his cheek in pain. I felt bad, and made some ice form before wrapping it up in a towel and handing it to 'Toshi. Let's just say training was over after that.
The toaster popped and I grabbed my bagel, spreading a generous amount of cream cheese on it before plating it and grabbing my coffee. I sat down at the dining room table, taking a bite a nd scrolling through my phone. Mic went upstairs to finish getting ready, and Hitoshi perched himself in the counter, taking a long sip of his coffee. I decided to check my messages, taking another bite as I scrolled through the group chat.
Pinky: GOOD MORNING!
Broccoli Boi: Mina, it's to early for this
Snappy Shark: I have to agree, especially considering Kaminari and I stayed up till 2 am working on Hero Studies essay
Pikachu Knockoff: Why does All Might want a 2 page essay anyways?
Pikachu Knockoff: We're having a test on the same stuff the essay went over today guys
Blondie #1: This is what you get for waiting till the last minute to work on it
Cat Whisperer: Don't let Aizawa know that. Lord knows what he'll do to you guys
Blondie #2: You said it sis
Pinky: Look who finally decided to join us!
Blondie #2: Morning guys
Snappy Shark: Ready for your first day at UA, Umi?
Blondie #2: Yeah, I just want to see who my competition will be for the 1-A spots
Blondie #1: That Blond fucker from your first training session is gonna be a definite yes
Blondie #2: Monoma?
Floaty: Yeah, he's not the nicest person around
Cat Whisperer: Don't forget a lot of the people from 1-B and 1-C
Blondie #1: Yeah, those fuckers too
I turned off the chat, finishing off my coffee before standing up and putting my dishes in the sink. Hitoshi was still drinking his coffee, so I left and went upstairs. I went back into the bathroom, brushing my teeth quickly and making sure there was nothing on my face before returning to my room. I grabbed my bag, filling it with my notebooks, wallet, phone charger, and headphones before heading back dowstairs. Mic was already throwing on his jacket when I went to go put on my Timberlands and my coat. Hitoshi and Aizawa came downstairs and grabbed their costs and shoes as well. We all walked out to the car, Mic locking the door behind us, and I was suddenly glad that I had thrown in thick black socks instead of tights. The November air was chilly, and the socks were thicker than the tights would've been, so my legs weren't as cold.
The ride to school was quiet, the nervousness and excitement that hung in the air speaking louder than our words would've. We parked in the faculty parking lot, getting out and making our way into the warm building in front of us. Aizawa and Mic made their way to the teacher's lounge, leaving Hitoshi to guide me to class. We were there early, so few students were actually in the classroom when we arrived. Hitoshi guided me to a pair of desks in the back of the room, setting his stuff down before taking a seat. I followed suit, glad to be sitting down. I rubbed my lower back, feeling the tension in my muscles from the previous day's training. My arms still hurt as well, and my shoulders would protest of I moved them around to much.
"You still sore?" I asked Hitoshi, who was playing Crossy Road on his phone.
"Very. Knowing Dad, he'll take it easy on us the first hour, then it'll be back to pushing us to our limits." He grumbled. He idly rubbed his bruised cheek.
"How's your cheek?" I asked. I still felt slightly guilty about punching him. He shrugged.
"I didn't know you could punch so well." He chuckled, and I felt better about the situation. More students filed in, and I got one last text from the group before class started.
Broccoli Boi: Have a good first day, Umi!
Blondie #2: Thanks Midoriya! I'll do you guys at lunch!
Our teacher walked into the room and tapped on the podium, effectively shutting everyone up and starting class. He cleared his throat, looking out at the test of the students to see who was here and who wasn't. He glanced at me, then down to the attendance sheet he had on the podium, then back to me.
"Class, we have a new student joining us today. If you could be so kind as to come up to the front and introduce yourself." He said, moving to sit at his desk. I got up, making my way towards the front and looking out at my classmates. "Just tell us your name, age, and quirk, please." My teacher prompted.
"My name is Umiko Shinsou," I began, getting a few murmurs and gasps from the rest of the students when I said 'Shinsou'. "I'm 15, and my quirk is Water control. And yes, Hitoshi is my brother." I said. I walked back to my seat, sitting down and taking a breath. Hitoshi patted me on the back, sending a small smile my way before paying attention to our teacher. The first part of class went by uneventfully, aside from the few flares I got from some of my classmates that had been there when I fought with Monoma. Lunch was the turning point for the day. Hitoshi and I met up with Midoriya, Mina, and Bakugou, sitting at one of the open corner tables. We made casual conversation, mostly talking about our days so far and how Uraraka was hanging out more with Iida and how Kaminari and Kirishima ended up getting lunch detention because 'somehow' Aizawa found out about them waiting till the last minute to do their essays.
Hitoshi have a soft smile that almost went unnoticed when the lunch detention was mentioned, and I had to keep from laughing when Hitoshi acted like he didn't know anything. Bakugou was in the middle of telling at Mina about her eatting Snickers for lunch when Monoma and his posse sauntered over. Monoma slammed his hands down on the table, drawing attention from other tables around us and forcing Bakugou to shut his mouth.
"What do you want, asshole?" I asked, glaring at him before turning my attention away from him and taking another bite of my ramen. Monoma smirked.
"A little birdie," He said, pointing to a black haired girl behind him who I recognized as a girl from my class. "Told me your going to try and get into the hero course."
"Well you heard correctly." Hitoshi replied. "And we all know that you are too. So what do you want?"
"I just wanted to make sure Umiko knew what she was getting herself into." Monoma said. He turned to me. "You understand that they only let the best of the best into the hero course, right?"
I nodded. "And I intend on beating you to the 1-A spot. Remember, I strung you up to the ceiling the other day." I responded smugly.
Monoma momentarily paled before glaring at me again. "You don't have that long until the Joint-training, and you don't have a lot of time left to train. Face the facts and cut your losses; You're going to lose to people you have been training for much longer than you. Which means you're going to lose to me." He said. He turned and walked away, the rest of his group following behind. I flipped him the bird, huffing before eatting more of my ramen.
"Don't listen to him." Midoriya said. "You and Hitoshi have been training hard, and you'll be ready for the Joint-training session when the time comes."
"I hate to admit it, but I agree with Deku." Bakugou muttered. "You can do some pretty cool stuff with your quirk, and from what I hear, there's going to be a part of the training where you team up with others. You could team up with Shinsou and beat his ass." Mina nodded in agreement, and Midoriya and Hitoshi hummed in approval.
"You guys are right." I responded. "Monoma's gonna eat his words."
Lunch finished uneventfully, and the rest of the day flew by. That night at training, I pushed myself to my limits, making myself sore all over and nearly pulling a few muscles. If I feel asleep on the car ride back without even eatting dinner, no one said a thing.
