Oceans the Color of Your Hair

"Shoot," Hyuna realized, "I think I accidentally booked rooms with one bed. Mizi, Sua, do you mind?"

Sua reasoned that it wouldn't matter that much, because everyone else would be sharing a bed-but everyone else was also dating. Sua wasn't against this, but she'd had a crush on Mizi for months and thought that it would be awkward.

"Sure, that's fine," Mizi chimed in, adjusting the neck of her brown crop top. "Right, Sua?"

Sua nodded, determined to make this work. She could always just sleep on the couch. "No worries."

Hyuna looked relieved, but there was a new sparkle to her smile. "Great! Here's the room key," she handed it to Sua and winked.

Shit. She'd had this planned the whole time.

Sua played along. "See you later." Mizi and her wandered down the hallway until they got to room 144. Sua unlocked the room and looked around.

The bed was large enough, queen-sized, but it would still be snug. Instead of a couch, there was a chair in the right corner of the room by the window. Mizi immediately began unpacking her suitcase, putting her toiletries in the bathroom and hanging some of her dresses. Sua set down her bag, took out the book she was reading, and cozied into the chair.

The right side of her body was getting warm from the sun shining through the window, and she got up to stretch. "Do you want to go down to the beach?" she asked Mizi.

Mizi hopped right up from the bed. "That sounds fun! Let's go."

The beach was only a couple minutes' walk away, and they made small talk as they walked on the soft sand. "What are you most excited for on the trip?" Mizi inquired.

Being with her didn't seem like an appropriate answer. "Taking a break from work," Sua said instead.

"Right? I love my job, but sometimes I just need some space from it." This opened up into a conversation about their jobs and how annoying some of their coworkers were. The sun was beginning to set, and they sat down to watch the sun dip below the water, staining the waves a fiery orange, red, and pink. Sua tried to sit as still as possible to take in her surroundings, but gave up as she turned to watch Mizi, whose hair almost matched the remaining visible rays. Sua sighed.

Mizi's eyes locked with Sua, and Mizi's head tilted ever so slightly, hand reaching out to touch Sua's hair. Their bodies pressed together and their mouths met, tentative but eager. They had waited so long for each other.

"Mizi?" Sua said, gently pulling away.

Concerned, she replied, "Is everything alright?"

Sua grinned. "I don't think the one bed is going to be a problem." Her cheeks were flushed, excited.

Mizi smiled, softly murmuring, "We'd better get back to the hotel."
