Is This A Date?

“Hey Catra?” Adora says as they sit down at an outdoor picnic table across from the food trucks as they wait for their order to be ready, the magicat turns her head to see Adora looking at her with concern all over her face.

“Yeah?” Catra replies after clearing her throat.

“I want to apologise for before.” Adora bites her bottom lip and fidgets with the hem of her shirt, “I shouldn’t have agreed to that drink with… well, you know who…”

“It’s fine, Adora.” Catra replies with a sigh and then looks over at the blonde with a teasing grin, “Guess you like women that look like amazons or the she-hulk.”

“I do not.” Adora huffs before crossing her arms and pouting in denial.

“Uh huh.” Catra shakes her head with a small smile, “I think I should test that theory…”

“Yeah? Your theory is not going to work.” Adora denies again, “I was just being polite.”

“Sure, you were.” Catra drawls, “Though if that was true… You didn’t accept a drink from the suit last night…”

“That’s… that’s because I still had a drink!” Adora argues, “And… maybe I was a little… surprised.”

Catra hums, “I still want to test my theory…” the magicat grins widely at Adora, “And if I’m wrong, then I’ll owe you a favour. But. If I’m right…”

“What kind of favour?” Adora interrupts, “Also, what do you want if you’re right? Which you totally won’t be…”

“I want a kiss. A proper one.” Catra replies with a smirk, her tail flicking side to side happily at the thought, “On the lips. Maybe tongue.”

Adora’s face heats up at the thought of kissing Catra properly, a smile appears on her face as she daydreams for a moment until she feels something warm against her forehead. Looking up cross eyed at the finger on her forehead, she stares back at Catra with an unimpressed look, playfully swatting the magicat’s hand away, “Stop that!”

“You kind of zoned out there, princess.” Catra points out, “Just checking you weren’t brain damaged.”

“I did not zone out.” Adora rubs her forehead.

“You so did.” Catra grins, “What were you thinking about?”

“Nothing!” Adora blushes brighter, “Shut up.”

Catra starts to laugh, “I think I know what.”

Just before Adora can retort, their order is called and Catra gets up, “Hey! We’re not done yet!”

The blonde quickly follows Catra to help collect their food, the magicat just smiles back at Adora, handing the blonde the drinks as she grabs the food and then says, “Eat first. I’ll test my theory after dinner.”

“What are you doing?” Adora asks as they sit back down at the picnic table, this time across from one another, the blonde watching as the magicat pulls her phone out and taps on it a few times.

“Giving Huntara a heads up that we’re going to drop by later.” Catra replies before pocketing her phone again and smirking at the blonde, “Eat up.”

“You know, when you said you’d take me out for dinner, a food truck wasn’t what I was thinking.” Adora admits as she digs into freshly made burger and fries, “Not that I’m complaining…”

“Oh, this isn’t our dinner date, princess.” Catra replies, “This is just, dinner.”

The blonde quirks an eyebrow in questions, “It isn’t?”

“No.” Catra shakes her head, smiling back, “Definitely not. I like to make a good first date impression.”

“Well, this is already pretty impressive, if you ask me.” Adora mirrors Catra’s smile.

“Oof, talk about a low bar.” Catra jokes, earning herself a kick in the shin, “Ow!”

“You deserved it.” Adora says matter of factly, “Where are you taking me for our dinner date?”

“I’m not telling you.” Catra replies, “You’ll have to wait until then.”

“I hate waiting.” Adora bemoans, “Please! Just tell me!”

“Nope. Be patient, Adora.” Catra chastises with a grin, “And don’t think I don’t see you stealing my fries.”

Adora feigns innocence, “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” And then steals another one.

The following grin on the blonde’s face has the magicat shaking her head, “You haven’t even finished your own yet.”

“Stolen fries are better.” Adora declares as she swipes another one and pops it into her mouth and then smiles innocently back at the magicat, “Mmm… so good.”

Catra swallows down hard upon hearing that sound from Adora, clearing her throat and then returning the favor, swiping one of Adora’s fries and eating it before shrugging, “Tastes the same to me.”

“Can I try your shake?” Adora asks eying the magicat’s drink and then offers, “You can have some of mine.”

“Go for it, princess.” Catra picks the drink up and holds it out to Adora, the blonde taking it and grinning as she takes a sip, “Good?”

“Stars… it’s so good!” Adora’s eyes nearly roll back, “Darn, I should have got this one too.”

“Have it. I’ll have yours.” Catra offers.

“Oh, no. I can’t. This is yours, I just wanted a taste…” Adora holds it back out to Catra.

“Nah, it’s yours now.” Catra pushes it back towards Adora and then quickly swipes the blonde’s drink and taking a long drink, “Ahh… so good.”

Adora rolls her eyes good naturedly, taking another sip and then says, “Thank you.”

“My pleasure, Adora.” Catra smiles as they continue to eat their food in a comfortable silence.

“A gym. Why are we at a gym?” Adora asks as she follows Catra into the gym, grabbing onto the magicat’s hand as they enter.

“To test a theory.” Catra replies glancing over her shoulder as she heads towards the reception desk, the receptionist woman looks up with a warm smile, “Hey Kylie, Hunt around?”

“She’s working upper body tonight... She’s either at the benches or the free weights…” Kylie replies as she stands up from the desk and looks around inside the gym area, “Oh, over there. She’s at the racks.”

“Thanks.” Catra nods to Kylie, “Can we head in there for a few minutes?”

Kylie looks the magicat up and down, “You’re not going to work out in a suit again, are you?”

“Don’t think so.” Catra shrugs, “But if I do, uh, you know what, here. Scan away.”

The magicat holds her card out and Kylie scans the membership card, “Is your girlfriend going to work out too?”

“Adora?” Catra turns her head to the blonde and then back to Kylie, “I’m… I’m not sure. I’ve got a feeling that she’s going to want to challenge me or Hunt at some point tonight… She does look like the competitive type.”

Adora doesn’t even bother denying it, “Maybe. Is… is that okay?”

Kylie opens up a drawer and pulls out a card and holds it out to Adora, “Here, it’s a 5 day pass. Starting from today.”

“Oh, thank you.” Adora takes the card and smiles as she waves it Catra proudly, “Ha! Maybe when I plan the next date, we can do a gym session?”

“That’s not a date.” Catra points out as they walk into the gym area.

“It so is a date activity.” Adora argues, “A gym date. I’ll even spot you.”

“What makes you think I need a spot?” Catra replies with a challenging grin on her face, that quickly changes to annoyed when she hears someone laugh out at her statement, “Ugh, we’re not all built like trees, Hunt.”

A large purple skinned woman with a white ponytail and rippling muscles comes over and slaps Catra playfully on the shoulder while still laughing, “I’m not a tree, kid. But I’m as thick as one.”

“Yeah, in the head as well.” Catra rolls her eyes as she snarks out with a grin as Huntara just laughs a little more, “Anyway… Huntara, I want you to meet Adora. Adora, this is Huntara.”

Adora’s jaw drops upon seeing Huntara, a dopey look on her face as she zones out a little, before the magicat nudges the blonde and she comes back to the present, she turns to look at Catra with a confused look on her face before she notices the magicat smirking at her. The blonde huffs out, clearly caught, “Shut up.”

Huntara looks between the pair and crosses her arms over her chest, flexing her muscles in the process and smirking, “Awe, kid. Are you trying to set me up with another one of your friends? Because I already told you, I’m married.” She turns to Adora, “Sorry, blondie. I’m taken.”

“Uh…” Adora goes bright red, “I wasn’t… uh, I’m not… Catra…?”

“She’s with me.” Catra replies holding back a laugh, “And apparently she’s not interested in your type.”

“I’m not.” Adora whispers out to Catra and then clears her throat, turning to Huntara and not looking the muscle woman in the eye, “I mean, you know, because you’re like… taken. And I’m like… kind of with…” she turns to the magicat, “Are we like…?”

“Like what, princess?” Catra asks with a shit eating grin.

Adora faux glares at the magicat, “Catra!”

“Adora!” Catra mirrors with a chuckle.

“Are we like…” Adora waves her hand around exasperatedly, “You know…?”

“I do?” Catra plays on, before quickly giving the blonde some respite as she turns to Huntara, “She’s mine. Keep your grubby hands off her.”

“I am?” Adora asks dumbfounded before she straightens up and grins, turning to Huntara as well, “I am.”

“Good to know.” Huntara nods at the pair and then says to Catra, “Finally got your shit together, huh?”

The magicat shrugs, “What can I say?” Catra reaches out and takes Adora’s hand in hers, “I found the light that I spark.”

Huntara grins, slapping the magicat on the back, “Good. I was getting worried about you being stuck alone for all eternity.”

Catra squeezes Adora’s hand, “Had to wait for the right one.”

“Awe! You think I’m the one?!” Adora coos as she pulls Catra in for a hug.

The magicat blushes, leaning into the blonde’s body and breathing her in, “Yeah. I think so.”

Adora hums out happily as Huntara chuckles under her breath, the larger woman interrupting the pair, “Are you planning to workout or just show off your girl, kid?”

“Show off my girl.” Catra simply replies and the pair share a laugh, “My arms are dead anyways.”

“I didn’t see you in here today.” Huntara says trying to recall if she did or not, “When did you train?”

“I didn’t train here.” Catra says as Adora finally releases the magicat from the hug, “My arms hurt from unloading the truck this afternoon.”

“You know, you can always call me to help you out for stuff like that.” Huntara offers, “I’m always up for a few extra dollars.”

“You know why I can’t have you help me, Hunt.” Catra breathes out, “Scorp still feels threatened by you when you’re around Perfuma.”

“I don’t know why she’s still so jealous.” Huntara huffs out, “She’s got flower girl.”

Catra shrugs, “Well, she’d kill me if I brought you over to help me out. She still gets that twitchy eye thing anytime your name comes up in conversation.”

“Oh, you still talk about me?” Huntara asks genuinely surprised, “I’m flattered.”

“No. I don’t talk about you.” Catra says, “Flower girl loves to talk about her time with cacti and how she overcame it or something and your name always creeps up when it comes to pointy plant things.”

Huntara smiles to herself, “Ah, those were the days…”

“Please don’t fuck up her and Scorp’s relationship.” Catra pinches the bridge of her nose, “Stars knows it took them long enough to finally get together.”

The larger woman laughs, “Okay. You got it. I won’t help you unload the trucks.”

“Thanks.” Catra nods back and then turns to Adora, “Wanna get out of here, princess?”

“Yes.” Adora replies with a beaming smile, “Though, I think we should definitely come back for a workout date.”

“No.” Catra groans out while Huntara perks up in interest, the magicat growls at her, “Don’t. I’m not hurting myself again because of my stupid competitive streak.”

“Better not, blondie.” Huntara nudges the blonde, “The kid is a little crazy when she works out. It’s like all or nothing with her. She ended up challenging everyone to a squat competition. Fair to say, someone had to carry her home that night. And yes, that someone was me.”

Catra rolls her eyes at Huntara’s preening, “I beat you too.”

“I wasn’t trying, kid.” Huntara argues, “I’m not stupid enough to goad you into what I usually squat.”

Catra’s about to rip her jacket off to prove a point when Adora step between the pair, “Woah, no.”

The magicat tilts her head at the blonde in question as she shrugs her jacket back on, “No?”

“Come on, I owe you a kiss.” Adora declares biting her bottom lip, “Just… not here.”

“So… I won?” Catra asks with a sly grin.

“Yes. You won.” Adora replies quickly before grabbing Catra’s hand and waving to Huntara, “It was really nice to meet you!” and then the pair exit.

“Can you grab the remote out of the glove box please?” Catra asks as she pulls up to the building garage security gates, “I still haven’t got a keyring for it yet.”

The blonde nods and pulls the remote out and pushes the button to open up the doors, “Where do I get one of these?”

“You didn’t get one when you got your keys and swipe?” Catra asks as she drives forward.

Adora shakes her head, “No. It wasn’t in the envelope.”

“Call the building manager on Monday and they’ll sort something out for you.” The magicat says as she parks up and turns off the engine, “Are you planning to get a car?”

“No.” Adora replies as she unbuckles her seatbelt and pushes the door open, the magicat doing the same as they walk towards the elevator, “Do you think if I parked my push bike in my car spot, it’ll be alright?”

“I don’t see why it wouldn’t be.” Catra replies as the elevator dings and the doors open, the pair get in, “Though, you should still lock it up to something.”

“Oh.” Adora furrows her brows, “Maybe not then.”

“I can install an anchor point or something in the ground that you can chain your bike to if you want.” Catra offers, “It’ll be low enough that if or when you get a car, you’ll still be able to park over it without wrecking your vehicle.”

“You’d do that for me?” Adora asks softly, Catra nods and the blonde pulls her in for a hug, resting her chin on the magicat’s shoulder, “Even though I’m an idiot that can’t stop fawning over certain types of women?”

“Maybe I should get all muscley too.” Catra jests, “Then I can all of your attention all time.”

“No. I want to be the muscley one in this relationship.” Adora replies with a chuckle.

“Muscles don’t always mean strength though, princess.” Catra points out.

“Kind of does…”

“Strongmen and women would dispute that.” Catra replies with a grin, “Besides, I reckon I could get muscley.”

“Hm…” Adora hums out as the lift finally gets to their floor, “Maybe I need to see it to believe it…”

“Oh, game on!” Catra declares as she pulls the blonde out of the lift and then they stand in front of their apartment doors, “So… my place or… yours?”

“You pick.” Adora says as she pulls Catra in by the lapels of her suit jacket and presses their lips together in a soft kiss.

Catra hums out happily, wrapping her arms around Adora’s waist to bring her even closer as she deepens the kiss, reveling in the little whimper she gets out from the blonde. The magicat smiles and inadvertently ends the kiss, “Mm… that was…”

“Wow…” Adora finishes as her eyelids flutter back open and she rests her forehead against the magicat’s, and then repeats, “Wow…”

Catra chuckles as she places a chaste kiss on Adora’s lips, “So… do you want company tonight?”

“Definitely.” Adora grins as Catra walks them backwards towards Adora’s apartment, the blonde’s back presses against her door as Catra kisses the blonde once more, this time with a little more intent as her hands run up and down Adora’s sides, “…fuck…”

“Not tonight.” Catra whispers, “Too soon.”

Adora nods, “Um… keys…”

“Yes, you’ll need them to get into your place.” Catra teases, thought Adora just leans in for another kiss.

“Then don’t distract me.” Adora chastises playfully, finally managing to get the key in the lock and the door open, she grabs Catra’s hand and leads her inside, “Come on.”

Catra laughs as she’s tugged inside and nearly trips, “Hang on, let me shut the door first.”

Adora releases Catra’s hand, the magicat walking back to shut and lock the door before following Adora into her bedroom. Adora looks up from where she’s grabbing her pajamas, “Don’t make fun of them.”

“Wouldn’t think of it.” Catra grins as she looks at the horse pictures all over the blonde’s sleeping clothes, “Oh, let me go grab my sleeping stuff. And maybe a toothbrush…”

“Don’t take too long.” Adora says as she grabs Catra and pulls her back in for another kiss, “I don’t like being alone in my apartment when you’re so close by.”

“I’ll be back in 15mins. Maybe less.” Catra says softly as she leans her forehead onto Adora’s, “You’ll just have to let me back in when I knock.”

Adora giggles, “Of course.”

“Okay.”

“Okay.” Adora shoves the magicat back lightly, “Go. Quickly!”

“I’m going!” Catra laughs as she makes her way back to the door, Adora hot on her heels, the magicat turns around once she’s exited the door, barely out of the blonde’s doorway and pulls Adora in for a kiss, “I’ll be back.”

Adora nods as she watches Catra make her way into the apartment and shut the door. The blonde doing the same as she heads back to the bedroom to change.

Knock knock

Catra knocks on the door, her hand mid knock when Adora opens the door up and the magicat’s eyes go wide while her jaw drops to the ground.

“Hey Catra…” Adora greets with a sultry look on her face as she smirks at the effect she has on the magicat, “Looks like you’ve got a type too.”

Catra nods dumbly back at the blonde, “Uh huh… totally do.”

Adora laughs, pulling Catra in by her baggy sleep shirt and slams the door shut behind them as she wraps her arms around the magicat, pushing them until Catra’s back is against the door, the blonde’s lips pressed against the magicat’s in an intense and hurried kiss, “Mm… what took you so long?”

Catra grins, trying to look the blonde up and down, “It’s a little revealing, isn’t it? What if it wasn’t me knocking?”

Adora blushes a little, “You don’t like?”

The magicat pushes Adora back just enough to get a second look at the blonde’s attire, “You know… when you said you were going to get into your pajamas… I was expecting a horse onesie or something… not… short shorts and a red lacy bra…”

Adora shrugs, “I could go and put my horse onesie on if that’s what you prefer…”

“Don’t you dare.” Catra growls as she pulls Adora back in for another heated kiss, the blonde giggling into it, “What happened to no sex until we get to know each other better?”

“Who said we were going to have sex?” Adora quirks an eyebrow up at the magicat, “I’m just giving you a… taste of what’s to come…”

“And… where else can I… taste?” Catra grins as she feels the blonde rubbing her thighs together.

“Just my lips…” Adora leans in and presses her lips on Catra’s, “On my face…”

Catra laughs out as they continue to make out, the magicat moves her arms under Adora’s thighs, lifting her up and walks her over to the bedroom, a yawn suppressed into the blonde’s neck, “Sleep?”

“Sleep and cuddle?” Adora suggests.

“Of course.” Catra nods with a chaste kiss on the blonde’s cheek, “I’ll be your sleeping company again… but…”

“But?”

“Please tell your friends not to wakes us up before 9am.” Catra pleads and Adora laughs once more.

“I’ll text them.” Adora offers as Catra lowers them onto the bed, the blonde pulls the magicat into her arms, “Mm… goodnight Catra.”

“Mmphf… night… princess…” Catra nods off into sleep.

Adora runs her hands through Catra’s short hair as she pulls her just a little closer into her chest, sighing out happily as she closes her eyes too, falling into an equally peaceful sleep. Forgetting to let her friends know not to drop by earlier than 9am.
