20-somethings
Once upon a time, long long ago… Well, actually 25 years ago but still, that’s over 2 decades ago… Belle married her Beast and had the attendance of 6,000 of their closest friends and family! Oh, I can’t imagine the big cake and all that sweet marriage stuff they had for it…
So, instead of a honeymoon, King Beast decided to bring all the kingdoms together and name the entire kingdom Auradon, or Paradise as what the Isle kids like to call it.
The Isle of the Lost is where all the villains, sidekicks, all the interesting people or creatures are banished; there’s no magic, no wifi, and no way out because of the magical force field… or so I initially thought.
Hang on, you’re about to meet the main quad of seven in the story, but first, this happened:
&&&
They say that someone’s eyes are the window to one’s soul. That’s what Namjoon’s mom told him 15 years ago and he never forgot about it. He knows many different expressions of the extraordinary from shakespeare to poems to metaphors of his own mind… but nothing fits right with how he feels looking towards the island.
Something beautiful, being trapped without a choice due to the actions of someone from the past. Maybe the idea won’t be so bad after all…
“How is it that you’re gonna be crowned king and graduate at the same time next year?” Namjoon looks toward his dad with a grin. “It feels just yesterday when we began preparations for it all.”
Namjoon’s mother gives a sweet sigh, “That was 4 years ago sweetie, you know Cogsworth says time does indeed fly when it’s a long time.”
“But he just turned 18!”
“Dad, did you forget I turn 23 in less than a month?” Namjoon’s dimples rise up with the joke.
“23! I didn’t make a decision until I was like 38.”
Belle clicks her tongue, frowning, “Uh, you decided to marry me at 28, if it was 10 years later, Joonie would have taken the throne years ago already.” she says matter of factly.
“Well it was either you or the teapots,” he jokes, but Belle still frowns, “You know I’m kidding,” and they both broke into a knowing smile even Namjoon can’t help but grin at.
Namjoon loves his parents dearly. He has his father’s charisma and his mother’s benevolence. He thinks about having his own partner, if he’ll ever have one. Being a prince in line for king, he’s definitely got plenty of suitors waiting for him. However, none have gotten close to that specific side of his heart; romantic love.
He walks forward, “Two things actually-”
“Ah-ah-ah!” oh, the tailor. Namjoon completely forgot about him measuring his formal wear for the end of the year.
He bites his lips to continue, “First, I was wondering if I should probably find a suitor for the crown in the future. I know I haven’t made a lot of progress on that.” Namjoon hesitates.
He knows how this goes for everyone; find a suitor, fall in love, get married, and there you have your happily ever after… it seems so easy yet… it’s the same cliche story in every book. Namjoon admits he doesn’t want that, but he still doesn’t know how to… even at the age of 20-something. He still feels like a kid lost in a maze.
“Oh Joon,” Belle comforts him, “You don’t have to feel pressured to do that.”
“That’s your choice isn’t it? Didn’t Mrs. Pot say that?” Beast responds warmly. It both surprises and relieves Namjoon. He does remember what Mrs. Pot said.
“This is your happily ever after,” Belle smiles, quoting the same words, “where you can write your own story, romance wise, learning from your mistakes, or growing up.”
“Well, that leads to another thing,” Namjoon says slowly, his eyes wander to his parents’ eyes.
“We’re listening, Joon-ah,” Beast affirms.
A deep breath. “Mom, Dad, I’ve decided to make my first, official proclamation after years of procrastinating,” Namjoon tries to laugh but his smile falters at the thought for a good reaction, “I have decided to invite the descendants of the villains in the Isle of the Lost… to come live in Auradon.”
A moment of silence for 2 seconds until a handkerchief fell from Belle’s hand.
“I’ve been thinking about this for a really long time and I just… something tells me about giving them a chance,” there it is again. Namjoon doesn’t know how to explain this gut feeling in his pounding chest.
“The children of our sworn enemies,” Beast slowly says, “living among us?”
“Well, I may have already sought out through the list and chose the ones that would need our help most: a second chance,” Namjoon clarifies, “I’ve already chosen them. I got word that their surnames are now legal in the documents. They just need to be signed by them personally.” he tries smiling.
His mother nods, however the Beast’s face begs to differ, “You have chosen them.”
Namjoon knows that tone; the tone his father uses in a withdrawal manner in meetings and favors he will most likely refuse upon.
“I gave you a second chance,” Belle reminds her husband.
Beast’s shoulders fall to Namjoon’s short-lived relief.
“What are their names and parents?” Belle asks.
Namjoon takes a deep breath though he has expected this question to arise, “Min Yoongi, son of Cruella de Vil… Jung Hoseok, son of Jafar… Kim Taehyung, son of Evil Queen,” another deep breath and jaw clench, “And Park Jimin, son of Maleficent.”
A wince is heard from the back, the tailor most probably, shaking up at the mention of… well, her.
“Maleficent!?” Beast’s voice booms in the room, making Namjoon’s chest jump a little.
“She is the most evil villain in the land!”
Namjoon knew that barely 4 seconds ago.
“All villains are all guilty of despicable crimes and judgement!”
“But I don’t want to look at them as a descendent of a villain, Dad,” Namjoon says firmly, making the Beast be quiet to listen.
“They’re kids my age… Do you think they, my age, have anything to do and wait for, for the rest of their lives?” he asks. “They’re innocent, Dad… with a potential to write their own story. Can’t they be given that same chance like you just gave to me? Like everyone in Auradon?”
The words just came to him. Namjoon always knew he had the most benefits, he honestly doesn’t know what else to do with the leftover of it. Why not share it to the ones who need it most? That’s a question on another side of his heart.
Beast sighs, holding down his glasses to clean, “I suppose… they are innocent. We all deserve a chance.”
Namjoon smiles, dimples in full sight grinning. If his parents are on board then maybe, this isn’t a bad plan after all. Maybe that will finally convince the board, despite having a week long debate about the single subject of bringing the villain kids over.
As his father walks back out the room, Belle walks to Namjoon with a proud smile. She stands just a head below him. Namjoon always liked how his mother would still stand bold and strong as if she was taller.
“You did amazing sweetie,” his mother's smile widens to which Namjoon returns thankfully with grace. Before leaving, she kisses her son on the cheek as an affection.
Namjoon only ever accepts such physical affection from close family and friends. The only ones being his mother’s cheek kisses, his dad’s big and happy hugs. His closest friends too; Seokjin Hyung would always punch him every ten times he does to him and Jungkook’s small yet hesitant back hugs to him for him on multiple occasions.
“We’ll see you real soon okay? I love you.”
“Love you too,” Namjoon’s voice falls to a whisper as his mother leaves the room. They probably have a meeting or an evening out for dinner with another party. Either way, Namjoon must have forgotten from being overwhelmed by the reaction.
Maybe it was too quick… or too late? Good riddance, it was probably a bad idea… well, too late to back out now because this has been Namjoon’s plan for years. He’s not going to chicken out in the last month.
This plan was all he could think about since he became 20 when his parents told him he should think about his first proclamation. Just 3 years later, in less than a month, 4 villain kids would be roaming around Auradon freely.
Namjoon looks out the window again to the dark and cold island surrounded by the blue sky and water.
He doesn’t know if he should emotionally start preparing himself to panic or to be… disappointed.
Jimin skipped school… again.
“It’s the life of being 20-something.” That’s what 24 year old Hoseokie says. “Let loose, do what you want, except escaping the Isle because we know that’s impossible.”
Gradually as the kids get older and eventually to their 20s, they begin to loot and steal bigger values. Soon, it’s taking on jobs like their parents earning the bare minimum wage which everyone gets because the Isle doesn’t have that luxury like Paradise.
Skipping school has definitely become the norm these days. Or was it months or years? Jimin doesn’t like to register time when he’s having fun. It makes the trouble more fun.
Jimin wears a leather bomber jacket with pink and purple sequins with white accents. Together it looks like he has wings like his mother with her long cloak. Underneath is a t-shirt and his legs show off in skinny leather pants. His vibrant pink hair was a personal choice after dying it blond on his 18th. His mother grounded him until the next year. The very next year, he started dying it from orange to red to finally sticking to the pink.
“Thank goodness because I’m getting pretty attached to the blue I have,” Taehyung says in a smug, “now we can consistently match!”
Even to this day when the subject of them matching comes up, he never fails to show off his blue bomber with a tiger stitching he did himself and of course Jimin’s jacket... which he did himself too.
Usually after that, Jimin tries ignoring Taehyung for the day out of flattery. However, he always found the younger following him on his side since he was 14, 15, 16, and all the way to his 20-somethings. He has become soft for the blue headed boy.
Today was almost just as soggy and dirty as any other day on the Isle for Jimin
Mornings are often spent out jumping on rooftops, maybe break some on top of the sleepers with the dust it inhabits. It’s crazy, he knows, Yoongi has told him far too many times throughout the last 7 years.
Then, it’s brunch at the hut to meet Junky for the monthly bet off. Being archenemies to the daughter of Ursula is just one life long bet to see who would be the leader of the Isle. Jimin has kept a streak for the last three months even though he’s pretty tired of it.
He sighs as he enters the doorway to the rusty hut that is called an in-and-out bar. He’s grown too fond of the place to feel entirely disgusted. He only has a few complaints including the rowdy pirates of Junky’s crew and mates.
“Well… look who’s here early,” Jimin hears someone say lazily as if they just woken up.
“Hey Chewy,” he throws his bag down on the chair diagonal to her, “Is Jihyo coming?”
“She’s stuck washing windows and dishes for her dear mother.” a voice growls from the back of the counter, “She has sent me down to do her bidding on her behalf.”
Oh great… that voice doesn’t excite Jimin one bit, “Fish sticks, Hwa. Fish sticks.” he sasses.
Seonghwa smirks with a mocking expression and bow as he disappears into the back to get the filthy food everyone’s stuck eating.
No way he’s going against Seonghwa, son of Captain Hook who unfortunately took far too many charms of a pirate physically and characteristically. He’s an ordinary first mate pirate with a grand love for gold and shiny bits. It was probably the rusty sequins on Jimin’s jacket that caught his eye on him at first.
“If she’s bailing me then I’m bailing her,” Jimin says as if it’s not a big deal, however the look of disgust goes on Tzuyu’s face.
“She’s going to steal your voice, Spunky.”
“Ah-ah! You forgot there’s no magic here, Tzuyu.”
A sigh is let out. “Right. Remind me why we’re all stranded here on an island.” She passively says, flipping her dirty red hair back. It shows off the shoulder design of white sequins on her leather jacket.
“Seems like you’re already tired of the permanent Rapunzel treatment,” Jimin pulls the dangerous card.
“Rapunzel was locked away for 16 years!” she hisses, fists punching the counter effortlessly, “I would have been out 3 years ago if it wasn’t for that stupid barrier by the Fairies.” Tzuyu deadpans.
Jimin laughs as he rolls his eyes. The thought of getting off this Isle has been long gone from his mind. He just laughs at the joke now. He laughs even harder at the thought of anyone knowing their names, the place itself.
Who in their right mind would just bring up “I wonder what the villain kids are doing right now.” while living in luxury and dreams of paradise?
&&&
“Uh, Hwa?” Tzuyu makes a confused gesture to Seonghwa’s tray, “Those are chicken fingers?” she picks one up, “that aren’t even fully cooked yet?”
“Exactly, feed them to the peasants and pumas in the back,” Seonghwa snaps, “Where’s Spunky?”
“His quad just dragged him out a few minutes ago,” Tzuyu smirks, “and you’re telling little miss Junky that.”
“Oh no, she’s gonna kick me out for no good reason again.”
“Exactly.”
&&&
So it just so happens that Yoongi and Taehyung are indeed professionals in dragging Jimin as they please. The only professionals with some help from Hoseok who can drag the Son of Evil Embodiment wherever as they please.
Off schedule: Jimin finds himself in the wrecked shop that is Jafar’s old lair, which was where Hoseok works at, cleaning some of the old trinkets and pickets.
He grudgingly sits on the chair, legs up despite visible uncomfort. He was wearing a leather jacket similar to Tzuyu but it’s with spikes all over and a colorful array through it.
“Ooh,” Yoongi hums, staring around the dirty shot glass, “I’m smuggling this.” He shamelessly smuggles the glass inside his latex bomber jacket that has always been too big for him. Though, it’s fashionable over the ripped black and white jeans that match his half black, half white hair he dyed due to motherly peer pressure.
“Yoongi, I need to stock up the shelves by this week,” Hoseok almost complains more but doesn’t due to Yoongi being the certified oldest of the 4.
“Well someone’s in a grumpy mood,” Yoongi mumbles.
Taehyung scoffs, “Says the grandpa here.”
“Hey!”
And there goes the certificate of Yoongi the Oldest, which is crossed out to grandpa, all ripped to shreds for the 612th time… this year alone.
“Are any of your parents acting all weird all of a sudden this past month?” Hoseok asks.
Taehyung keeps his gaze on one of the shop trinkets, “Not really? Maybe?” pause, “They’re villains, they’re probably scheming a way out of here for the millionth time.”
Yoongi laughs, “Kinda dumb to be honest.”
The other three don't ever comment on the insults. They’re far too used to Yoongi’s trash talk behind their parents back.
“Well like, if they were, we’re probably involved in it,” Jimin reminds them, “It’s all about world domination!” He acts like how his mother says it, though his friends already know.
“Well, what are we going to do for the next, I don’t know… 20 years?” Taehyung jokes however the cold truth lies below it and they know it.
“What we always do?” Jimin says quite grimly, “I’ll become a bit happier once we start banging some places up.”
“Ah,” Hoseok claps, “The old witch’s place is left alone at this time, maybe a robbery for the sweet stuff?”
Taehyung gasps, genuinely excited as he jumps, “A heist plan, I love it already!!”
“Hey, careful!” Yoongi says, “the wicked witch is horribly cannibalistic, they might eat us… literally.”
“Hey, I’m the one who lists out the cons in this,” Hoseok reminds, “and the only con in this is the fact we’re gonna make our parents extra happy when we make it out alive.”
Yoongi laughs, “There’s the spirit we know.”
Jimin smiles.
At least there’s a plan for today.
The amazing thing about being a villian kid is that once in the spirit of yelling and cursing everyone out of the way for them, it feels like there’s nothing stopping them for one second despite the halts from the peasants.
Nothing feels better than to just to bang on the metal chambers filled with tension and to steal the only candies from children.
It’s what happens when everyone thinks they’re useless and misunderstood.
It’s what happens when everyone’s a villain kid in their prime ages.
It’s when everyone sees familiar yet frightening built henchmen walking towards in an intimidating stagger. Almost everyone in sight was running in fear and cowardice. That must mean one thing:
The Mistress of Evil’s presence.
Jimin turns around to see with a small, knowing smile, “Hey Mom.”
Maleficent in her high presence stands before them in a wicked smile, “Are you still just banging on doors and feeding the poor peasants and pumas in their rusty cages?”
Jimin frowns, “We’ve robbed the old Witch’s little candy store.”
Maleficent gasps as she throws her scepter to the other hand, “Ah! There’s that dreadful creature I raised.” she snickers.
The insults are strangely fond. Jimin just rolls his eyes in reply. The others stand watching without objection… or it could just be the henchmen from behind basically trapping them.
“When I was your age, I was cursing entire kingdoms-” Maleficent chuckles in her son’s immediate joining, “walk with me, child.” she takes a hand around Jimin’s shoulder to say, “See, I’m just… just trying to teach you the real thing that counts.” She raises a brow to him.
“How to be me.”
Maleficent gestures with her hands and Jimin lightly nods, “Yeah, I know... of course.”
“You’re the Son of Evil Embodiment and most importantly the son of Maleficent, Mistress of Evil,” she glares at Jimin’s unfazed expression.
“I’ll do better next time-”
“And with that I have news!” she exclaims loudly.
It surprises Jimin and even Hoseok in the back. Taehyung’s eyes widen in judgement while Yoongi stays still with crossed arms.
This ought to be one big surprise…
&&&
“So, you’re sure they’re gonna be happy to come to Auradon?”
Namjoon shakes his head, “I only have fingers crossed, I can’t guarantee, Jungkook.”
Jungkook sighs, clicking the fork on his finished dish of pastry dessert, “It’s not exactly like coming into a bakery with that fresh smell of goodness or a flower shop with the essence of nature, Hyung.”
“Well, I’m not hoping for a quick change you know? Fairy Godmother, Jin-Hyung, the Three Fairies, my parents… I just want to be a good leader for everybody,” Namjoon admits as he picks up his finished dish to Jungkook.
“You are a good leader, Hyung,” Jungkook tells him, “It’s why I thought you were cool in the first place.” he smiles and Namjoon returns so too. Jungkook never ceases to tell Namjoon how cool he is without fail despite his shyness.
“So, in your opinion,” Namjoon says, “do you think they’ll take a chance here?”
Jungkook stays quiet, wondering, “Only time will tell,” he answers, “We have 9 months till your crowning. Anything can happen in 9 months.”
Namjoon nods from Jungkook’s input. He’s always appreciated the younger for insight and outside guidance.
Jungkook was no prince or any specialty of the royal family. He was Jungkook, son of Alice from the Wonderland book. He was a florist downtown near the castle, and your friendly neighborhood kid.
Namjoon met Jungkook when he sprained his ankle as a kid. 9 year old Jungkook promised 12 year old Namjoon he would forever stay by his side in return. Low and behold 10 years later, he would’ve been so lost without the younger as his pillar of strength.
He’s freshly 20 years old now, joining the kids in the prime age of 20-something.
He’s having fun, much more than after he turned 13 and thought of having a job along with high school. He still drinks banana flavored milk instead of soju and banana chips instead of the fancy tortilla chips.
It’s definitely not that hard to differentiate him from Namjoon’s part of the scene.
“Do you ever think… that they have dreams or passions?” Namjoon asks him.
“I really hope so,” Jungkook hums, “I’d rather be dead than live without a passion you know?”
“Right, but what if not, hypothetically?” the Prince clarifies, “Like, the kids call Auradon ‘Paradise’ more as a mock than a wishful dreamscape. I don’t know if it’s jealousy, envy… or just them not having the opportunity to do what we do? Write our own story, give ourselves a good happily ever after.”
Namjoon continues thinking about the possibilities. If there was a class about villainy history and the Isle of the Lost, maybe Namjoon would take it to learn more and find some empathy in the children.
Or if his plan to reform them succeeds, he could take in more kids and reform so much more…
“That seems like a lot, Namjoon.” a different voice, not Jungkook’s is heard, snapping him out of his flurry of thoughts.
“Oh, Jin Hyung.”
“You’re thinking so loud I have to do something,” Seokjin says, walking to Namjoon still sitting on the sofa chairs of the pastry shop.
Namjoon looks up to the broad shouldered man, “So? What do you think?” he asks him.
“One word, Joon-ah,” Seokjin says in a calm tone, “brilliant.” He whispers happily.
“Really?”
“Bibbidi bobbidi brilliant and beautiful,” Seokjin quotes his mother, “You know it.”
Jungkook sighs from afar, “Could you elaborate, Hyung?”
“Well, sure this is a risk after so many years,” Seokjin glances to Namjoon with a smile, “I’m definitely all on board with giving them a chance to be here. My mother always says to find the beauty in everyone. If Namjoon finds beauty in Isle kids then we have a good chance.” he simply smiles.
Jungkook just shrugs sweetly, ‘If this goes wrong, don’t come to me for help because that’s the only thing I can’t help you with.’
Even through the doubts, this is what Namjoon’s so thankful for Seokjin Hyung. He’s the delighted son or friend everyone would want to have. Not to mention the handsome face everyone swoons over. Despite his short or perhaps nonexistent interest in a love life, he has a large scale of friends but gladly keeps Namjoon and Jungkook on the top of his list.
He’s a lover of planning and organizing the parties and services and holidays for Auradon.
Being the Prince-soon-to-be-King of Auradon is one thing, but Namjoon can definitely appreciate the effort Seokjin gives to him.
“It’s going to be alright Joon-ah, and if they don’t want to stay here,” Seokjin frowns, “We can send them back right? It is their choice.”
The thought of the villain kids not taking a chance in Auradon is quite slim, especially since change is difficult and they have lived on the Isle all their life.
“I guess Hyung is right,” Jungkook finally says, “I mean, I don’t know if I’m just being biased but, who wouldn’t want to live here in Auradon?”
&&&
“We’re gonna live where??”
“I said you four have been chosen and invited to come live and attend a different school,” Maleficent says obviously.
Jimin is unable to process the information, “which just so happens to be where?”
“Didn’t I say Auradon?”
The word triggers a fight message to the other three; Yoongi's almost wrestling one of the henchmen, Taehyung's being smuggled by the other, and Hoseok is effortlessly taken care of on floor between the henchmen, already knowing he won’t outfight them.
“Well, yeah, where sweet dreams come true and all the funny stuff we hear in fairytales, right?” Jimin says.
“You tell me, Sweetpea.”
“Uh yeah,” Jimin isn’t sure what else to say other than to point at the elephant in the room, “But umm… did you forget that we’re stuck on an island with a magical force field that keeps us here?”
Maleficent looks at him with devious, “Oh, must I say that this was lil Prince Charming that will become King of Auradon-”
And there goes the fight or flight response for the others…
“This was the ever so innocent Prince’s idea,” Maleficent says simply and it leaves the 4 villain kids in silence.
“It shall give us a chance for world domination!” she licks the top of her teeth to smirk.
“But Mom, what-”
“Knuckleheads!” she yells to the henchmen, walking back, most probably the villains’ lair. She didn’t hear Jimin’s objection due to some plan in her lunatic mind.
Yoongi and Taehyung were released from the grasp of the henchmen. They both pick up a shaken Hoseok from the ground, still unable to register the news. Jimin begins to walk away with them all until-
“Children!” Maleficent sing-songs raspily for them, which earns a groan in frustration and still utter confusion from the 4 of them.
&&&
“You will go to Auradon, find the Fairy Godmother, and bring me her Magic Wand,” Maleficent says finally as she pedicures her nails.
After a long discussion of the scheme, which so happens to be ironic from the earlier time the 4 were talking about, the kids almost understand the plan they’re in for. It seems like Hoseok was right that something was up.
“Well, what’s in it for us?” Jimin finally asks as he’s really sure there’s a reward for grandly helping for world domination.
“Matching thrones, his or her or their crowns,” his mother rolls her eyes.
“Uh, ma’am I uh,” Hoseok hesitates, “I think he meant us.”
Maleficent glares and Jimin could hear Hoseok wince from behind him, but it’s covered when she throws the pedicure knife away to wherever. “It’s all about you and me Child,” she beckons Jimin to her, “You want to be known as the Master of the Evil of all the land and the Isle forever hm?”
“Well, yeah-”
“Well then get me the wand!” she viscously tells him. “Because with that wand and my scepter, I will be able to bend both Good and Evil to my will!!” Maleficent growls in conviction, but it stops when another voice comes in.
“Our will?” Evil Queen deadpans that she’s not the only one in the plan for world domination, along with Cruella de Vil and Jafar pointing out in correction.
“Yes yes, our will, our will,” Maleficent wavers the correction. She then snaps to Jimin for his attention, “And if you refuse to go, you’re grounded for the rest of your already-terrible life, young one.”
“What, but mom-”
“Ah,” Jimin’s mother snaps and lowers her head to make eye contact with him. She stares into Jimin deeply to fight the quick withdrawal to accept the plan.
This is an often occurrence between them. Jimin doesn’t have his mother’s eyes. Instead, he has silver-blue colored eyes he almost hates. Almost. It doesn’t go well with any of his clothes unless it’s black and white. But he’s not Yoongi, so that’s a big no.
The green fire in Maleficent’s eyes burn and Jimin’s blue stare gives up with a groan and perhaps a short migraine.
“Fine, I’ll do it,” he accepts as if he really had a choice.
“I win,” she says as if it wasn’t obvious for the past 20 years.
“Taehyungie! My mischievous little one!” Evil Queen beckons Taehyung by his short alias and he skips graciously to her. “You just find a special someone to get your happily ever after all settled.”
“Of course, Mother,” Taehyung says automatically as he’s presumably used to the expectation of finding a partner.
“Oh and preferably one in line of royalty, with a castle, and oh!”
“Lots and lots of mirrors!” Taehyung acts out a happy box smile of his when quoting his mother.
However, it falters when he’s responded with, “Oh the wrinkles dearie, don’t do that.” Evil Queen reminds him and he returns to his usual resting face.
He looks more unapproachable that way. Taehyung assumes he unfortunately gets it from his mother.
In the back, Maleficent rolls her eyes in the utter stupidity.
“My son is not going,” Cruella tells her, “I do be missing him too much already when he’s not here.”
The reason makes Yoongi visibly confused, heavily furrowing his brows, “You do?” absolutely unsure if his mother is lying or not.
“Well of course! Who’s going to touch up my roots? Fluff up my fur-jackets and scrape the buttons off my feet and floor?” she easily says not noticing the treacherous duty her son does.
Yoongi rolls his eyes into the empty oblivion, “I guess going to ‘Neverland’ wouldn’t be that bad.” he mumbles.
“Yoongles baby, you do know there are vicious animals like the pumas out there?”
“And there’s the dangerous card, good grief,” Yoongi turns around walking away, massaging the bridge of his nose. He still needs to work on the little ball of fear when approaching animals... and everything else outside the Isle for this matter. It didn’t go well years ago and it most definitely wouldn’t work if he goes to Auradon now.
“Oh and Hoseok’s not going either!” Jafar says to Maleficent, unknowingly adding fuel to her inner fire. “I need him to stock up the shelves again.”
“Just stock up the shelves with some candy, Pa,” Hoseok says, throwing the few bags attached to his jacket loops. “If I were you, I’d be careful of the old witch cursing you to death when they find out it was us,” he whispers to him, not like he does need to be careful.
“Come on Seok, didn’t I train you to be a professional thief?” Jafar scolds Hoseok who looks at him wearily. “You’re staying here and that’s final.”
Hoseok tries to start but Jafar shushes him before he could, silencing him as always without negotiation.
“Taehyungie’s not going either,” Evil Queen reminds, “We gotta get rid of the little stubble he has growing.” she says shamelessly as Taehyung frowns, touching his cheeks.
“Great, so I’m doing this alone,” Jimin mumbles on the stairs, unsure if he’s happy or really, really upset that his friends can’t go with him and to take over the world.
“What is wrong with you all idiots!” Maleficent wails a yell and screech that makes everyone in the room jump. “People over there used to cower at the mention of our names!!” she yells harsher as she takes Jimin’s arm up with a wince from the stairs and onto one of the chairs.
“For over 20 years, I have searched for a way off this dreadful island! For over 20 years, they have all taken our chances for our revenge!!” she yells in the tormented memory.
“Revenge on Snow White and her horrendous squad of tiny men!”
“Ow,” Evil Queen winces lightly at the personal attack.
“Revenge on Aladdin and a darn genie in a lamp!”
“I will!-” “Pa!”
“Revenge on all 100 dalmations and more that have escaped! your! clutches!” she growls with a finger to Cruella.
“Oh, but they didn’t get the baby!” She says in protest, giving a squeak to her fur ball on her shoulder to which she cackles to everytime.
“And I! Maleficent!” she yells again, “The most evil of all the land,” she walks toward Evil Queen with a gesture and she complies passively. “I will finally get my sweet, sweet revenge,” she takes the mirror from Evil Queen, “on Sleeping Beauty and her relentless little prince,” her tone mocks more in the end.
“Villains!”
A chorus of yes is responded.
“Our day will arrive soon,” she says with a smug, looking at the hand mirror. “Give the little boy your mirror.” Maleficent smirks handing the precious mirror to Taehyung. “It’ll come in great use.”
Taehyung’s eyes curiously widens. He observes the small hand mirror that’s as big as his hand, particularly intrigued by the rusty crafted architecture. “So this is your magic mirror.”
“Oh, you haven’t seen the big one,” Evil Queen says, “though that is just one piece of it. It will help you find things.”
“So like my happily ever after?” Taehyung deadpans.
“Like my waistline.”
“Like the magic wand, hello!” Maleficent tears Evil Queen’s small joke on the side for the real plan. “I need my spells- my spellbook! Where is that thing, I left it-”
Evil Queen points to the fridge like compartment with a tongue click, making Maleficent yelp in desperation.
“Oh! The Safe! The Safe! Queen, help me! I can never get this thing to open for me!!” she consistently bangs on the compartment for it to open but it doesn’t budge until Evil Queen gets up and pulls the lever east to the side.
A fog is let out from it that makes the Mistress of Evil gasp in devious excitement. “My spellbook! Come child, come!” she calls for Jimin and he stands for her immediately.
Maleficent’s spellbook looked quite new, but the pages were all old and beige as it’s been kept away for decades. The black hardcover cover had a fire-like design of dragon wings and golden accents at the corners. Jimin could easily hide it away in his jacket or his bag that has a secret slot inside.
“She doesn’t work here but it will in Auradon,” Maleficent says, “Remember? When we were spreading evil and ruining innocent lives,” she reminisces to Evil Queen.
“Like it was yesterday!” Evil Queen grins.
“And now… you will be making your own memories,” Maleficent sweetly says as she gives Jimin the book, however, quickly takes it back with a smile, “by doing exactly as I tell you,” she cackles, throwing the spellbook into Jimin's chest.
“Thank you?-”
“They will arrive tomorrow at 10 am sharp,” she interrupts Jimin once more, “I better see them all there.”
All the villian kids nod and make their way out of the lair. Hoseok takes the bags of sweets to restock the shelves one last time unexpectedly. Yoongi sighs when his mother reminded him to deliver the last batch of fur coats tonight.
“I think I would rather be off her clutches and be rampaged by a pack of dogs or wolves,” Yoongi mumbles.
Jimin could only let out a breath of laughter he didn’t know he had been holding the whole time. He’s hugging the spellbook onto his chest for such small support, “We are going to Auradon tomorrow.”
“Can you believe after 23 years of only knowing we can’t go out the barrier, they tell us now we’re going out?” Taehyung scoffs, “I have no idea whether to buy it or not.”
“If it’s world domination then they’re not kidding, Tae,” Hoseok says sluggishly, obviously tired despite the time being just mid-day.
“Yeah well…” Jimin gives a face of doubt to his friends, about to complain when he realizes, “I really hope we’re getting majorly paid for this because I swear they knew about this coming longer than today.”
Namjoon stands out on the castle’s main balcony. The sun sets out behind the trees and the stars follow it before he could register. It’s dark enough for the fairy lights around the castle to shine brightly.
He then looks out to the always-dark Isle. There’s no light or hope there. The lights might be broken due to the Isle’s poverty.
He could only hold on to that glimmer of hope he has in his heart.
Tomorrow and the months that follow… only time could tell now.
