txt yeonbin - "run away with me"
Soobin stretches out on Yeonjun’s bed. There’s so much of him that there’s no bed leftover for Yeonjun, so he stays standing, leaning against the door jamb.
“I talked to the teacher, and we’ll have one more day of team practice tomorrow before he comes in,” Soobin says. “You were right, I think we need it.”
“Good,” Yeonjun says. “I tried talking to Kai, but I think he thought he was in trouble. You might have to do it.”
It hurts to report a failure after Soobin’s success. It hurts for multiple reasons, but the worst is the heavy look in Soobin’s eyes as he nods and wipes his hands down his face.
“Not tonight,” Yeonjun says. “I told him to rest, and you should, too.”
“Okay.” Soobin falls quiet and stays that way, unmoving, hogging Yeonjun’s bed. Eventually, he says, “You know where I could rest? The beach.”
“Hyung can drive now,” Yeonjun says. “I could have us there in a couple hours.”
Soobin groans in his chest, so low Yeonjun feels it in his own, like Soobin sent an earthquake shaking across the floor.
“A drink with an umbrella in it,” Soobin says.
“One thousand fried shrimp,” Yeonjun says.
Soobin groans again.
“Do you want to sleep there?” Yeonjun says. “I can go sleep in your bed.”
Soobin opens his eyes and smiles, rolling up to a seat. “You’re too good, hyung. Remember when you’d let me sleep in your bed because mine was too messy?”
Soobin says that like it’s an old memory, dredged up from the deep, but it’s floating right on the surface for Yeonjun. He doesn’t reach for it. He claps Soobin’s shoulder as he goes past through the door, and says again, “Get some rest.”
