Zay Babineaux
19 years old.
College had always been something Zay had been interested in. He liked learning, and as much as he liked sports, he knew that a career in baseball wasn't always in the cards. So he took AP classes on top of joining three different varsity sports and a few different clubs to make his applications really pop out.
What he wasn't counting on was just now many colleges wanted him. He was getting offers from all over the country. At least a dozen wanted to give him full rides, and more still offered pretty decent scholarships. The world was his oyster.
Then he got arrested for the crime of walking in a neighborhood and he was reminded just how small the world was for him.
It stayed with him, even as he toured different colleges. The humiliation, the fear, the anger, the pain.
But it drove him to prove everyone who looked at him and thought he was nothing, wrong.
He got into Stanford on a full scholarship and is double-majoring in literature and politic science.
He's currently in a long-distance relationship with Marjorie, a girl he started dating during his senior year of high school.
