Summary
Through the salvaged logs and records of the two main vessels exploring the frontier, Starfleet slowly manages to piece together the events that took place from star date 2265.23. This being a few months after the Enterprise NCC-1701 A had finished being constructed and been under the helm of the notorious Captain James T. Kirk.
