Friend by choice?
CHAPTER 5:
The ground was so shaken that it was almost impossible to run in a straight line. Justin and Aki were pushing themselves to max capacity as they search for the Hogwarts students and their friends. Following the purple light beam, their turn to a countless number of left and right but it wouldn't be a challenge if the maze was simple. Soon enough the two boys ran into a dead end.
"Damn it! We never going to get there in time!" Aki let out his frustration. Punching the rock maze wall.
Justin was also running out of breath at this moment. It feels like they have been running for hours.
"Ok, screw this! Get behind me." The blonde boy commanded.
"Wait you not gonna..." Aki started.
"Yes, I will Aki. We don't have time for this."
Hearing the determination in his voice, Aki took a couple of steps back, giving Justin as much room as he could. Getting into his stand, Justin's body slowly warming up, well actually he is burning up. Quite literally cause there is flame coming from his turning orange and red gradient skin. Justin keeps taking deep breaths to make the fire burn brighter.
From behind him, Aki could feel the sweat pouring out on his skin. The flame was so bright that the witch has to cover his eyes. He's in a way standing right next to the 'sun'
"Justin! I think that's enough!"
Justin definitely heard that alright.
With just a swing of his fist, the 'ex-Specialist' easily breaks down the stone walls around them.
"Stay close!" The burning boy said.
Aki only nodded. Following Justin, who ran straight through the walls of the maze right to where the light is.
Closing in on the spot, they could hear screaming but it's wasn't coming from humans. It was the beast, an enormous, disgusting, vicious Firefly Goblin, squealing in pain as its being held by the neck by Liv.
Before there was any reaction, she broke the beast's neck like it was a toothpick. Dropping its lifeless body to the ground with her wand. And as the boys met her eyes, Liv quickly dropped her hands, looking away sharply, and "gently commanded" them to come to help her with Preston and Hagan.
Preston was still blacking out by the time the four kids rushed to take him to the infirmary. Hagan was lucky enough to only sprain his ankle but Preston was not so much. Just looking at the boy, everyone can tell that his right leg is obviously broken. During the time of treatment for the unconscious Ravenclaw boy, Liv never once leave his side. She feels guilty for something that wasn't even her fault, which is bloody stupid.
-----------------------------------------
Later that night, the school has an emergency assembly about the attack and that the game will be postponed for a week until further notice. And it mostly thanked to the Alfea Academy that almost all students and teachers walked away unharmed. Ocean, Charity, and a couple of their housemates did swing by to visit Preston.
"He has a broken right leg, and his shoulder is slightly dislocated but overall Madam Pomfrey said Preston would be alright. She just waiting for the potion to kick in." Liv said quietly, fingers fidgeting with the hem of her jumper.
"Well that is good to hear, right Ocean?" Charity said, nudging Ocean gently on the shoulder. Ocean was quickly to brush Charity off, pretending to be annoyed.
Other students also sigh in relief. There is no damage to Pres that Hogwarts couldn't handle. He'll probably wake up soon enough.
Around midnight, everyone started to leave the nurse's office but Liv and Ocean volunteered to stay and watch over Pres, with the headmistress and head nurse's stamp of approval of course. The two girls barely talk that night with Ocean constantly hovering over the boy. Her face showed a new kind of concern that Liv has never seen before. And not to mention the other girl's fingers something brushed over the unconscious ravenette's hand, some might even say lingering. Liv grinned a little bit. Usually, Liv did be up for a little teasing but she was beyond tired at this point and also the timing doesn't seem to agree.
"Hey, I gonna head to the bathroom for a bit. Try not to coddle him too much, ok?" The blonde girl stands up and head to the door. Not even bother to wait for a reaction cause she could tell Ocean's cheeks reddening even without looking at her.
Ok, so maybe Liv couldn't help but tease her.
On her way back from the bathroom, Liv encountered the Alfea trio. This time with an older boy she has never met before.
"I assume we should talk?" The older boy asked gently.
Justin, Aki, and Hagan all stood quietly behind him.
Knowing the inevitable, Liv only sighed. "Alright"
---------------------------------------
"So you telling me, I'm supposed to be some sort of...ancient warrior...hand-picked by the bloody Gods of...of...what was it?"
"Multiverse." Hagan said, unhinge.
Liv raised her eyebrow, a 'seriously' being left unsaid.
"Look Olivia, the is no way to easily say this, but it's true, you are part the of something really great."
"Right, next thing you know, you are going to tell me that the bloody Queen of England is an immortal deity that has been harvesting soul of the innocent..." Liv said jokingly.
"Well..." Matt started, and Liv smiled immediately fall off her face as she stare daggers at them.
Aki and Justin couldn't help but chuckled a little bit. The story of Elizabeth Windsor the, the forever queen, it will shock you the first time you hear it but as it progress, the more it's just make so much damn sense that it's just laughable.
"This had been a very INTERESTING conversation...but I'm afraid I have else where to be, literally ANY where else. Goodnight!" That last bit came off a little harder than she intended but Liv really hope the point is clearer than professor Trelawney's crystal ball. Whatever madness these people are planning, she want zero part in it.
"..." For a short moment, the four Alfean was left speechless. Who could have known British people could be so difficult.
"Oh screw this..."
"Justin, I don't think Faragonda would approve..." Matt held him back by the bicep. He know where the blonde boy is going with this.
Pulling away from the fairy's grip, he loudly said to the wizard girl that was walking away
"You are my sister!"
And just like that, it's like hell has frozen over... Well, at least to Olivia.
