Olivia A. Dunamis

CHAPTER II: OLIVIA A. DUNAMIS
"Now that we have settled in and sorted I have a big announcement to make so listen up students!" Headmistresses McGonagall announced loudly, capturing the attention of everyone in the room.

"After many years of recovering from the second wizarding war, the ministry has decided that it's about time that we should once again embrace a tradition of our, a very special game that has once bring wizards from every corners of the world together, the 'Triwizard Tournament'."

As the name being mentioned, every student started whispering. This definitely interested a lot of the students as some even immediately talk about signing up.

"Quiet children!" McGonagall command.
Everybody immediately settled back down as the Headmistress went back to carefully explaining the game but down at the Ravenclaws table, a ravenette boy turn to his blonde hair friend

"Finally something sound fun." The ravenette, Preston whispered.

"Probably..." The blonde friend unmindfully replied. She was too focus on what McGonagall had to say.

"...and that would concluded everything. I hope everyone has listened well because this game is not to be consider a joke. If you decided to put your name into the Goblet, you would not only be representing OUR school but yourself at a person. You also MUST remember that the game is very dangerous so please consider carefully before you act." McGonagall warned very carefully.

After delivery the speech, the Headmistress invited everyone to enjoy the delicious meal that magically appeared in front of them. As the students started digging in, conversations and laughter started to be exchange. The muggles-born, half-blood with their curious question about magic and the pureblood same curiosity about the modern human world. After dinner the students was lead back to their house by their headboys and headgirls as the Headmistress bid them goodnight.

"Hey Olivia! Here your safety instruction for the game. Look like many rule has been changed ever since the last game." The headboy, Nick, said while handing the blonde girl and thin book.

"Oh, thank you Nick." She took the book, giving him a polite smile.

Liv head towards the girls dormitory after that, deciding on unpacking first thing first. When reached her room, she was greeted by all of her roommates from previous years. All the girls were so excited to see each other again that the moment Liv stepped in, she couldn't contain her smile either. Everyone's was chatting excitedly about their upcoming classes, what they did over the summer vacation, some girls were talking about beauty products and some other was talking about how bored they would be with a working phone or laptop.

"So what did you do over the break? I can absolutely sure whatever it's it must be more fun than going fishing with my grandpa for an entire week." A girl asked.

"Ocean, you know that I didn't do anything much. I just mostly hangout with my aunt, she took me out for archery a lot, sometimes we went for picnic afterwards that's was fun, other than that we didn't really do much this year." Liv said.

Her aunt, Nubia, is an ex Olympic archer for the British team back in the 90s. After she winning a gold in 92 and a silver in 96 she went on to become a coach for the team and Nubia also teaches some classes too. Nubia is Liv only known family. She told Liv that her mother has to constantly work overseas or whatever, not that she cared. Liv never even meet the woman. When Liv's Hogwarts letter first arrived, both Nubia and Liv was very surprised and confused, but they sure learned to adapt quite quickly. In fact, it only took the girl three days to get a hang of the magical world, from their rules, to their custom and culture, she even managed to catch up on a large chunk of their histories…

Liv can't never forget her feeling the first time she visited Diagon alley, the place is probably the most enchanted place she ever seen. Everywhere was just vibrant colors, beautiful architect design and fascinating store, so much excitement that her 11 years old mind almost explored. And the more professor Sinistra, the woman that personally delivered Liv's letter, told her about the wizarding world, the more Liv become fascinated.

Something that Liv has always pride herself with was her independency. As early as Liv can remember, she has always been quite a ‘self-aware’ child…well at least that is how Nubia would describes her niece, Liv prefer to use the word ‘efficient’. Her aunt has never had to tell Liv to do her homework or to do her chores, Liv just knows. And those kind of quality proven to be very useful during her past years at Hogwarts. Not only does she know how to look after herself, it also made her a fast learner, it make her an ‘efficient’ one. Now Liv one of the best student in the Ravenclaws house…if not all of Hogwarts.

And even if it doesn’t really fit the Ravenclaws’s quality, Liv does enjoy winning.

"Wow, that sound seriously so fun. All I did the entire vacation was just stalking Paris and Lindsay on magazines since my dad was too busy to take us on vacation." One of the other roommates, Charity said.

"Paris and Lindsay? Is it common for muggles to be so interested in Paris city? Also what kind of spell is Lindsay?" A pureblood girl asked, voice fill with curiosity.

"It's not...never mind." Charity tried to explain but then immediately let it go as the other girls break out in laughter.

Later that night, as everyone has already gone to bed, Liv decided to stay up a later than usual. Her migraine has start to kicked in again. Ever since the week before she was supposed to return to school, Liv has been suffering from constant headache that seriously screw up her sleep schedule. If she was still at home, Liv would just take an Aspirin or two but since artificial medicine is almost never heard of in the Wizarding world, she would just have to bit the bullet and hopefully sleep it off.

'Damn it, should have ask the nurse first before I went to bed.' Liv thought annoyingly as she tucked in and forced herself to go to sleep. Long night…

…Especially with those flashing lights, burning flames, metals crashing into each other sound…and screaming. Her dream been getting more lively lately.

The next morning, while joining everyone in the hall for breakfast, Preston came running with an exciting new to her, "Did you read the new!? It said right here that students over the age of 14 would be allow to participate tournament! I'm 14 tomorrow! Isn't that great!?" He exclaimed, holding up the slim guide book to her face.

"You gonna sign up?" She asked, taking a bite out of her sandwich.

"Yeah, I mean why not right? It's a free for all and it's a really good chance to show off my intelligent and magical ability. And imagine if I win!? Could be really useful for job interview later on." He said, putting on a mischievous smirk.

"I guess...but Pres isn't the game is like crazy dangerous? Please think it through, I really don't want you to get hurt..."

"It'll be fine, you just gotta trust me...by the way, do you have your Charms textbook? Mine is still back in Cambridge." Preston unaffectedly asked.

Liv glared at him but then just let out a sigh of defeat.

Once week later, the other schools starts to arrive. There has been rumours everywhere about a new mysterious academy joining them this year that make every student even more hype up. As said the three school that would be joining Hogwarts this year are to be showing up tonight. The whole school is currently in the Great Hall when Flitwick came running through the door and whispered quietly to McGonagall. In just a blink of an eye, the silver hair woman stand up straight, fixing up her robe and hat before turning to the students

"Students! I would like for you to join me in welcoming our friends all the way from France, Headmistress Maxime and her lovely students of Beauxbatons academy!" The woman in green announced out loud cheerfully.

The huge oak doors open with a bang capturing everybody attention. The first to enter was the Beauxbatons students, they were basically gilding into the hall, every movement were so elegant, gentle and a hint of bewitching. Then come Madame Maxime, headmistresses of Beauxbatons. She was undoubtedly one of the most unique woman Liv has ever lay eyes on. Maxime was tall, even taller than Ha grid, her hair has a faintly shade of red, her cheekbones are high, her nose perfectly straight, she gave off a very classical, elegant European woman vibe and not to mentioned her students. Every single one boys and girls look perfectly groom, not a single hair out of place, their powder blue uniform has no wrinkles in sight and their aura are so bright perfectly matching their graceful smile.

"They are from that fancy French school, Beauxbatons..."
"They're really pretty..."
"That's one big woman..."
"So sophisticated... "

Liv heard other whisper and she has agreed, they're definitely a different from Hogwarts even with just their look. She even caught Ocean's eyes adoringly stare at them, not that she and many other aren't doing the same. Hogwarts headmistresses immediately step up and give Maxime a warm welcoming handshake since it has been 14 years since they last saw each other.

Before everyone was too caught up with the Beauxbatons, McGonagall once again demand the attention of her students

"And now from the North, the proud students of Durmstrang and their headmaster, Adelmo Stefan!" She said.
The doors once again open up with an even louder bang revealing the Durmstrang students in their sharp, military uniform. Unlike Beauxbaton entrance which has been like a delicate ballet, Durmstrang entrance was loud and heard. Like a lion on the hunt, every boys has a serious, determent look in their eyes as they put on an impressive show for the other. In the Muggles world, their preformance would be call 'Parkour'.

While everyone was distracted by the show, Liv noticed McGonagall and Maxime eyes were on the headmaster. Some said that he was offered the position after Karkaroff. He promised that changes would be made to the institution and true to his words, much had been improve in Durmstrang or at least that was what Liv read on the news. Stefan stepped forward after his students stunts preformance giving a kiss on the hand to Madame Maxime and a polite and charming greeting bow to the other Madame in green. McGonagall return his greeting with a civil handshake.

Every students is already so hype up as far Liv can see, so much that Liv can feel Ocean's excitement rubbing on to her as she and other can't stop chatting about their two visitors brilliance. But where is Preston? One of the other Ravenclaw boy asked that make Liv finally noticed.
"Yeah, where is Pres? He was so excited for the game that it's weird he isn't here." Liv said looking around for her friend.
"He probably just overslept again. You remember second year, after he discover a perfect place for napping? He has often missed dinner ever since." Ocean said without a single hint of worry.

"And lastly we'll be welcoming a new friends, this is their first time joining the game and since this is our first official meeting with them I want you to give a warm welcome to Alfea Academy from Italy!" The Headmistress declared pulling everyone attention away from their conversation to the main doors.
As the doors open, it's not just Hogwarts but the Durmstang and Beauxbaton students were also shock at what they seeing. The students of Alfea weren't just wizard and witches, they're fairies, actually winged fairy

They enter the hall as everyone can't keep their eyes off them. Sure there are fairy in the Wizarding world but it was more like pixie, the small size version of fairy like Tinkerbell or the Veela but most of them has evolved out of their wings.
"Fairy!?"
"No way!? I thought they extinct!?"
"Look at their wings, they're so beautiful!"

To none of the Alfea students surprise, of course the other would be staring at them. With their majestic one of a kind wings, somewhat glittery uniform, some are wearing modernised armour, they were standing out like a sore thumb. Among all of them there were this one boy in particular that have caught eyes of most girls. He was tall, hair in a dirty blonde shade and his facial features was easy on the eyes, hell, he is really good looking and especially those striking silver blue eyes that somehow look so similar to...Liv's.

"Headmistress Faragonda, what an honor for Hogwarts to welcome you to the Wizarding world. I'm sure you and your students would have a comfortable stay with us." McGonagall said kindly.

"Thank you Headmistress McGonagall. It's also our pleasure to be joining you." Faragonda respond in an equally cheerful manner before signing to her students to transform back.

From the once fascinating glittery fairy they turned back into the human form completely identical to the other wizards in the room. Once again shocking everybody.

"Hey!" The ravenette said shocking Liv as he took a seat next to her.

"Damn it Preston! Where were you? You missed the whole introduction." Liv smacked him the head.

"I was heading here but saw Flitwick at the entrance so I went elsewhere. Can you believe it!? Fairy!?" He said, his face vivid.

"It's insane! I never thought that there are still winged fairy out there!?" He continued.

"Me too, I never thought that I would get a chance to see one either. Have you seen their wings, they're the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen." Liv couldn't contain her excitement either. Her eyes once again traced back to the mentioned silver eyes boy. He was sitting with the Gryffrindor.

"Well, those aren't the only things that are gorgeous. I overheard some girls gabbing about the Blondie over there." Preston pointed to the Gryffindor table.
"They were all talking about how dreamy his eyes are but you know who they remind me of? They kind of look like your Liv, I mean scratch that he looks identical to you but just...you know...male." Preston keep looking back and forth at Liv and the guy. What Preston meant was the features was all there, the sun kissed tanned complexion, the slight cupid bow lips, the amber eyes, the chubby cheeks that has yet to lose it baby fat…especially the small little beauty mark on the both of their right cheekbone. Liv and the boy from Alfea by no chance has an unique look, they wasn’t one of a kind but still no one else at Hogwarts that look like them. You can definitely see the resemblance between the two.

"That's ridiculous, you probably just hungry." She tried to laugh it off. Preston doesn't push it.

"Did you know that not all of the Alfea students are magical? Apparently they accept Muggles into the school and those are call 'Specialist'." Preston said, once again making Liv wonder where did he got these information.

"How could you possibly know?"

"I asked, duh doy! When I was wandering elsewhere I bummed into a dark skin fella, Aki, over there, next to Blondie, and asked him a couple question but he is only a wizard though and he didn't mention the fairies either." Preston explained with a smug look on his face.

'Gossip girl of Hogwarts.' Liv thought to herself.

And so for the rest of the night, the hall was filled with talking and laughter. The sound of schools joining each other in meal and conversation, everyone getting along in harmony. And tomorrow the game will began.

Later that night in the female Ravenclaws dormitory, Liv and her roommates were just getting ready for bed when one of the girl finally ask the question
"Do you notice how odd it's that Alfea just suddenly decided to reveal themselves?" Charity asked, her face was serious.

Charity voiced the question a handful of students has been wondering about all night.

"Yeah, but isn't it a good thing that they decided to rejoin other?" Another asked.

"I mean I guess, you know what professor Binns said about witches and wizards without a coven, dangers would more likely to fall onto them so maybe that's why...maybe they're looking for more protection." A pureblood girl said.

"Agree and beside they may even be the last place in the world that you can find actually living, winged fairy." Said Ocean. ‘’They probably just looking for more protection for their kind.’’ An interesting point from Ocean but it's also said in some old book Liv read that fairy are also very dangerous creatures themselves. Their powers origin are from a cosmo crystal that fell into Earth thousands of years ago. And since fairy power come from evolution and not spells or practice, they are not bounded to follow rules or patterns, no boundaries, no spells or wand.

By midnight while everybody was sleeping safe and sound, Liv was woken up by an irritated headache. She kept telling herself to sleep it off but clearly this time isn't the case. After hours of toss and turn, around 5am the blonde hair girl finally got out of her bed to go see Madam Pomfrey. The sky was still very dark as Liv made her way to the hospital wing. Reaching to open the door she suddenly heard a loud 'thud' as something hit the ground.

'Please just be a chair' she prayed.

"Ouch!..." A voice appeared.

'Crap!!!' A wave of panic splashed over her as Liv slowly opened the door all the way.

"I'm really sorry! I should have knock first, are you alright!?" Liv said as she crouched down to meet...amber eyes.
The boy from Alfea.

"It's ok, I shouldn't have stand too close to the door anyway. We haven't met, I'm Justin." He kindly said, still on the floor, his face slightly red from kissing the ground.

"Olivia, Liv. Again I'm terribly sorry." She offered him a hand.
As Justin stand up, Madam Pomfrey returned into the room, holding a bottle of muddy mossy coloured potion.

"Merlin! I left barely for a minute and you already mange to hurt yourself already? Miss Dunamis, what can I do for you?" The older woman snapped at the boy’s clumsiness before turning to Liv.

"It's actually my fault, I open the door and it hit him." Liv apologetic answered. Her fingers fidgeting.

"I see, well it's only a small bruise, it'll pass in no time and here you go Mr. McQueen, this will help with your headache." Madam Pomfrey handed him the muddy color looking bottle.

He thanked the nurse before open it up and took a sip, his facial expressions immediately changes as the salty bitterness hit his tongue
"Well I didn't said it's was pumpkin juice. Drink up!" The nurse sassily said.

"Now, how can I help you Dunamis?"

"I having a headache too actually. Well more specific a migraine so I was hoping you have something to help ease the pain?" Liv said.

"Of course dear, how long have you been having one?" Pomfrey asked.

"About a few day before school started."

"I see, wait here while I go take your medicine. It's quite funny how the both of you have the exact same system." She smiles gently as the grey hair nurse went back into the potions room. Liv sigh as she took a seat on a close by bench. Next to her is Justin, the mysterious boy from an equally mysterious school. He is struggles with his bottle of potion as his eyebrows creased together clearly trying to fight off the horrible taste of the medicine.

"I always find the best way to fight off the taste of medical potion is just to cover your nose and drink it as fast as possible." Liv said without thinking.
Justin postpone his potion before turning to Liv. Now being so close together that Liv got to see his eyes even clearer and true to Preston's words, they're identical, even some of his facial features are similar to her.

'How odd.' She thought.

"You probably know more about these magical stuff than I do, my parents are normie and it was just about a week ago that I discover I have magic..." He chuckled nervously, clearly he's bother by something. ‘’Well, bottom up…’’ He chucked the rest of the potion.

"I can related actually. My aunt is a Muggles or normie like you said so I technically didn't have a lot of preparation entering this world either. At first I was so terrified but thank to a great support system, I pull through." Liv said comforting.
Obviously Nubia was no help when it came to anything magic related but she was amazing with moral support. When first found out, all that Liv was panic and scared, if it wasn't for Nubia's support, she would never had made it this far. So despite not knowing each other at all, Liv still wants Justin to know that he'll be ok.

"Yeah, you right. I'm actually quite grateful to have my friends support too. It basically felt like they saved my life." He said while his face doing an absolutely 180°, flashing a small smile at her.

"If you..."

"Here you go! Just take this then head back to bed. If you still feel symptoms left after tomorrow then tell me as soon as possible, alright? The same go to you young man. Now off you go." Madam Pomfrey instructed while looking at the duo of blonde in front of her.

"Of course, Madam Pomfrey and thank you." Liv took the bottle as she stood up, thanking Pomfrey politely.

"Yeah, thank you ma'am and I'm sorry for waking you up too early." Justin also politely said.

"It's alright, just go back and get some sleep, it's already a quarter till 6."
Leaving the office, Liv and Justin continue to engage in many casual conversation as she walked him back to the guest quarters. Surprisingly they both enjoy each other company quite a lot. Liv told Justin a little about her home while he told her more about his experience in Alfea, leaving out serval details. At this point the sun is already bright, well as bright as possible in Scotland. Before parting, Liv turn to Justin

"If you ever want to see more of Hogwarts and Hogsmeade in the upcoming visit my friends and I would love to show you and your friends." She offered. A chance to make international friends and a chance to learn more about his school.

"That's sound pretty great. Thank for the offer. Goodnight or more like good morning Liv, see you around." He joked, bidding her goodbye.

"Good morning Justin, I'll see you later." A small laugh coming from Liv as she also bid goodbye.

As they returned to their room, creeping in quietly as the other are still sleeping soundly. After taking their potion then went to bed, both blondes had nothing but a dreamless sleep, finally. Liv being free of her migraine and Justin being free off his nightmare.
