As soon as Bakugou got to Mei the other pros arrived and he was able to let out a breath and started breathing again, he picked her up in his arms and carried her all the way from the sight of her crash all the way to Recovery Girl. Mei was by no means light, because as everyone knows she was 80% muscle, but Bakugou carried her like she was a singular bag of flour, there was not a single sign of struggle on his face. As he got out of the actual arena some of his classmates and pros said they would take her from him and go to the nurse themselves.
“If any of you fucking extras think for a second that I’m going to give her to you, you’re fucking stupid I can take her by myself” he spat loud enough for everyone to hear and walk away with their hands up in surrender. Bakugou’s eyes glanced at the girl and started muttering softly calling her stupid and that he can’t believe she would just jump in front of him like that. As he realised she wouldn’t be responding anytime soon his eyes softened and he let out a sigh. He then slid open the door to Recovery Gils office and saw the old woman sitting on a chair, she promptly got out of it as she noticed the unconscious girl in his arms.
“Put her down on the bed sweetheart and go wait outside for a minute” Recovery girl told Bakugou, somehow he didn’t curse out the old woman instead he did as he was told without his signature ‘tch’. As he sat outside the office he heard a mixture of loud voices running towards him, before he could even turn his head to look at who it was Kirishima yelled out to him.
“Hey Bakubro is Mei okay?!”
“Is she going to wake up?” Mina asked her voice breaking
“Oh my god is she dead?!!” Kaminari cried
“Don’t be fucking stupid you phone charger! She’s going to be fine Recovery Girl is with her now” Bakugou retorted
“I heard Midoriya and All Might were put in a separate room to her, so maybe something is actually wrong with her” Mineta butted in
“Listen here grape balls she’s fucking fine so you can fuck off!” Bakugou made his way towards the now cowering Mineta only for him to be stopped by Kirishima who told him it’s not worth it.
One of the schools teachers then interrupted the group and told them that unless they have an injury that they should all head home, and that they can visit their friend tomorrow. Most of the class did exactly as the teacher said, but the Baku-squad was different, they pretended to walk away and as soon as said teacher had left they rushed back to the infirmary to wait for news about Mei.
“You guys think we should get her some food and flowers for when she wakes up?” Kaminari spoke up breaking the silence.
“That’s such a good idea bro, she would love that!” Kirishima beamed.
“Let’s get her some spicy chicken ramen, that’s her favourite” Mina exclaimed quite proud of her knowledge of Mei’s favourite things
“Oo oo her favourite flower is a purple and white Dahlia!” Sero said profoundly which earned him confused stares from everyone in the group. “What just because you guys don’t talk to her doesn’t mean I don’t? We know each other’s favourite things, we just have that bond.”
This lead to the entire group yelling at Sero saying something along the lines of they talk to Mei literally everyday but it’s weird that he knows her favourite flower. “If you continue yelling like this my patient won’t want to wake up at all” Recovery Girl scolded the 5 friends.
“Is Mei okay?”
“Is she going to wake up soon?”
“How bad we’re her injuries”
The group all rose from their chairs and began bombarding recovery girl with questions. “Calm down my dears, your friends is perfectly fine she should wake up in the next hour or two. Her neck has some bruising from the Nomu that doesn’t want to go away, along with a few bruises and burn marks but she has no broken bones it seems something shielded her before she got hit, did any of you see anything” Recovery Girl explained
“She can produce powerful energy shields so it was probably one of those” Bakugou confessed.
“Ah yes well that would do the trick, we’ll I heard you talking about getting her flowers and something to eat so if you want to do that and be back by the time she wakes up I’d suggest leaving soon” the old woman suggested.
“Okay come on guys lets go we have to hurry” Mina shrieked
“You go I’ll wait with her” Bakugou stated, Kirishima sent his friend a quick wink before Mina grabbed hold of his hand and started dragging him away. Once they were all gone he went into the room to see her laying there with the bruising around her neck that recovery girl spoke about, it was a bright purple shade and the sheer sight of it stirred up strong feelings of regret inside him. These were feelings he wasn’t used to but he blamed himself for what happened to his friend, as in his head if he had just been faster Mei wouldn’t have had to teleport in front of him and she wouldn’t be here right now. He sat down in the chair next to her and didn’t say anything for the next 15 minutes, he just observed her stillness which was something no one in that class was used to, as they all come to know Mei to be an unnecessarily loud person in the short amount of time they had all been in the same class. After those 15 long minutes he began to speak quietly, half hoping Mei wouldn’t hear him.
“Listen here you flying bitch you shouldn’t have done that, it was reckless and stupid but that’s probably exactly why you did it right? I won’t fucking let it happen again, no one is going to get hurt because of me again.” He paused before saying “especially not a friend like you”
As he finished he saw Mei stir slightly before waking up. As she blinked into consciousness she began to quietly say “Wow if all it took for you to stop being a bitch and call me your friend was being slammed into a building, I would’ve done that weeks ago”
“Oh I regret saying anything, I preferred you in your comatose state, do me a favour and go back t fucking sleep” Bakugou chuckled
“And now you’re laughing while talking to me, I died I knew it, this really is heaven” Mei retorted.
“Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but when you die you’re going straight down to hell where you belong” Bakugou said with his face returning to its original form.
“That’s fine because I know at some point when you die you’ll go straight down and join me. Also if you haven’t noticed im pretty much the best person ever so Satan will love me and make me his queen” Mei giggled and Bakugou simply huffed with a slight smile appearing on his face
“All jokes aside I am glad that you’re ok-“Bakugou got cut off by their classmates all storming into the infirmary.
“Wifeyyyyyyy” Mina yelled out as she pushed through her classmates and ran straight for Mei and engulfed her in a tight hug. The rest of the Baku-squad followed Minas lead and crushed Mei while the rest of the class stood there with huge smiles on their faces holding the gifts for Mei. They were all halfway home when they got a series of texts from Mina saying Mei was about to wake up and hey planned to bring her something to eat along with flowers. The whole class turned around and made their way back to the school and were now in the infirmary talking and laughing with everyone else, even Todoroki managed to let out a laugh at some point. Maybe he wasn’t so bad after all Mei thought to herself.
“The fact that you managed to put up a shield in like a second to stop yourself from getting your entire back shattered is majorly impressive my dude!” Kaminari complimented his best friend.
“Bro you weren’t there how do you know I put up a shield, but thank you I kinda didn’t feel like getting killed by that weird Nomu thing” Mei questioned
“Oh basically Recovery Girl asked how you managed to not die and Bakugou said you can make powerful shields so we just assumed” Mina filled her friend in to which Mei’s only response was to thank her friend and he simply told her to die.
“Mei sweetheart someone is here to pick you up so all your friends are going to have to go unfortunately, so off you pop my lovelies” Recovery Girl interrupted. Everyone said a quick goodbye to Mei leaving only the Baku-squad still in the room with her as she collected her belongings. Just before she left the room she used a sliver of her power to warp her appearance so that she had her own clothes on instead of a hospital gown. Of course her choice was her usual attire of a sports bra (with a regular one underneath) black cargo pants and a pair of black lace up doc martens, she was a fan of the cargo pants for 3 reasons; number 1 is that they were loose and apart from her super suit Mei hated tight clothing, number 2 they had a lot of pockets and finally number 3 the pockets were as deep as men’s pockets.
“I know all of that is easy for you but it still amazes me that you can just change clothes like that because of your quirk” Kaminari confessed.
“I’m just amazing what can I say, if any of you ever need an outfit change just hit me up” Mei smirked at her friends as they all left the infirmary saying a last goodbye to Recovery Girl. They had just left the room and headed for the stairs as Mei heard a familiar voice yell call out her name. Behind them stood Shinsou whose eyes showed that he was clearly worried sick about his friend. Mei dropped her school bag and made her way over to Shinsou, he matched her steps and arrived before Mei wrapping his arms around her. It didn’t take long for her to match the gesture and bury her face in his neck, all she could think of was how nice he smelt and how warm and encompassing his hug was. Without breaking the embrace he softly asked Mei.
“Are you okay, I heard about the villain attack but I didn’t know you were injured until I saw everyone in your class apart from you walk into the infirmary” It was at that point Mei let go of her friend and placed both her hands on his shoulders.
“I’m fine I may have got thrown into a building by a weird villain creation but it takes more than that to knock me down, I’m sorry I worried you angel” Mei’s face grew softer as she said the last words.
“I will always worry about you because you’re one of the most reckless people I know, but I’m glad you’re okay do you want me to take you home?” Shinsou offered platonically.
“My brother is outside I think, but I’ll text you when I get home and we still have to plan our meet as the last one doesn’t count” Mei said as she embraced him once again before making her way over to her friends who were impatiently waiting.
“Wow you spend two hours with a girl and she says it doesn’t count, why must you always hurt me so Mei-Mei” Shinsou cried placing his hand on his heart pretending to be hurt.
“I hurt you because I adore you oh dearest one and I’m not that reckless. Bye eye bags I’ll see you soon!” Mei yelled out already being halfway down the stairs. Shinsou watched her leave the school as he leaned over the banister with a slight smile on his face, he really did love having her as a friend.
“What kind of stupid nickname is Mei Mei?” Bakugou scoffed.
“I can’t believe Mei has friends other than us” Kaminari cried
“Oh shut up the pair of you I might be tired as shit but I’ll still kick your as-“Mei was interrupted but yet another lung crushing hug. She wondered if her poor body was going to catch a break that day.
Kenji was back and Mei couldn’t be more excited to see her brother, of course they had been texting every day since he’s been away but it was nice seeing him in person. “If you hadn’t just gotten your ass handed to you, I would’ve done it now”
“So you’ve been gone a week and that’s the first thing you manage to say to me when i almost died?” Mei scoffed
“Oh pish posh you didn’t die, but I am glad you’re okay otherwise I would’ve gone slightly insane without you around” Kenji said as he let go of his sister.
“Um Mei are you going to introduce us to your friend?” Kaminari interjected.
“He’s not her friend you stupid piece of shit that’s her brother” Bakugou spat.
“I guess you’re Bakugou then from the colourful language, did my sister teach you that or have you always been like this?” Kenji chuckled as he stuck his hand out waiting for Bakugou to shake it.
“If anything she got this from me” Bakugou responded as he shook his hand.
“I’m Seki Kenji, its lovely to meet you all” he said as he bowed his head. The gang each took turns introducing themselves, once they were finished Kaminari turned to Mei and said,
“Mei did you know your brother was the 4th best student in the school?!”
“You know what I had no idea! Kenji how dare you hide this from me, I trusted you and you betrayed me!” Mei cried.
“Alright alright it’s time for me to take Mei home, I would drop you all off but unfortunately there’s not enough space for all of you, so if you want I can take you to the train station in rounds but if not I’ll just steel Mei and Bakugou since he lives near us and you guys can text Mei when you get home safely” Kenji remarked as the 4 of them agreed that they would all walk to the train station together.
The remaining trio got into Kenji’s car with Mei calling shotgun and Bakugou sitting in the back. Mei explained to her brother exactly what happened at USJ, she then answered some of her brother’s questions and the last thing he said before he started talking to Bakugou was “Well I’m proud of you for managing to upgrade mind-link, come up with a fantastic plan and managing to save your friend, you did well sis”.
He reached over and squeezed Mei’s hand. “So Bakugou how is hero training going?” he asked
“Its fine but most of our classmates don’t fucking take it seriously so I can kick their asses in a second” Bakugou retorted.
“Fucking hell you’re honest aren’t you and what do you think of Mei?” Kenji continued on laughing while he asked.
“Yeah I don’t think I want to know, he literally just admitted we’re friends like 20 minutes ago, I don’t want that to change” Mei said while looking from one boy to the other.
“Mei is one of the only ones who actually have potential but I can still kick her ass” Bakugou said while looking straight at Mei.
“Haha you wish you could beat me, I would literally demolish you in a fight quirk or no quirk” Mei giggled.
“Fucking fight me then you little shit” Bakugou quickly responded
“Listen fuck knuckle, pick a date and I will show you that I won’t even have to break a sweat to crush you into nothing” Mei threatened and the pair began bickering as if they’ve know each other for years.
Kenji could only laugh at the pair, they were so similar in the worst possible way and simultaneously very different, he was certain that there would never be a quiet moment as long as those two were around. “I can see why you two are friends, you both swear like pirates and you’re both cocky cunts, Mei you seem to be less of a cunt than Bakugou but still cunty”
“What the fuck did you just say” the pair yelled out simultaneously. It was just then that they arrived at the Bakugou household, with a quick goodbye, he left the car and the Seki siblings drove off back to their own house.
“Mum I’m hom-“Mei was cut off with yet another bone crushing hug, she was sure the next one she received would actually break bone.
“Are you okay? Who did this to you? Did you kick their ass? Are you still hurt?” Mei’s mother questioned frantically.
“If you keep crushing me like this I will actually be hurt” Mei struggled to say, but once her mother let her go she was able to catcher breath and answer the rest of the questions “Yes I’m okay, it was a Nomu a weird creature made by villains and I didn’t kick his ass but All Might did”
“God I can’t believe that school letting villains in so easily, is your teacher alright? I heard he got hurt protecting you lot” Aiko continued
“I think he’s okay, he got his face smashed in but me and the lads managed to get him out and he was telling us off as Kirishima ran off with him” Mei responded, when suddenly a loud bang emerges from the front door being slammed open.
“I leave you alone for one day, one MOTHERFUCKING day and you manage to get hospitalized?!” A furious Hina roared.
“Yell at me all you want but please don’t hug me I think my ribs are cracked from all this hugging” Mei spoke with her hands in front of her.
“Would you be so kind as to explain exactly what happened before I beat the shit out of you as well?” Hina asked and Mei wanting this whole day to be over gave her mother and Hina a run-down of the day’s events. Once that was over they all sat down to eat and spend the rest of the night watching movies until Mei fell asleep on the couch, forcing Kenji to carry her upstairs to her room where he tucked her in and placed a kiss on her forehead.
Mei woke up at 6:10am and at first she thought it was a dream because there was no way she would still be alive if she was late for training. Once she rubbed her eyes and looked back at her phone she saw it was in fact 6:10am so without a second thought she teleported and started profusely apologising to her brother who could only respond with hysterical laughter.
“What exactly is so funny?” Mei looked very confused at his reaction.
“You seriously think I’m going to make you train after you were injured, I know I’m mean but im not a complete bastard” Kenji retorted
“So we’re really not training today?” Mei said still confused.
“Nah you have an extra 2 hours now to just chill and then I’ll drive you to school, oh and I can take Bakugou on the way now that I know where he lives” Kenji suggested and Mei thanked her brother for her extra free time.

Mei decided to use her spare time to catch up on some sleep since most nights she goes to sleep around 1am and then has to wake up 5 and a bit hours later. She ended up waking up 10 minutes before they were scheduled to leave, she teleported downstairs and quickly ate breakfast before using the downstairs bathroom to brush her teeth and change into her school clothes using her quirk. Kenji then yelled at Mei to get into the car because he didn’t want to be late in picking up Bakugou.
“I really doubt Bakugou is going to care if we’re late” Mei snorted
“Well I’d rather not risk it with his temper” Kenji retorted and all Mei could say was that he was all bark and no bite. They arrived at Bakugou’s house, the boy got in and said a quick hi to the siblings before they set off. About halfway through the journey Mei’s phone started going off with message notifications.

“No not since I threatened to kill him via mind-link one day” Mei scoffed which caused both Kenji and Bakugou to laugh. The trio shortly arrived in the car park and they made their way to their classrooms when Mei saw Shinsou.

Bakugou and Mei arrived in class to see all their friends gathered around Kirishima at his desk talking, once the red head saw the pair he called them over and the group started talking about how long it would for Aizawa to return.
“There’s no way he’ll be back this soon even the manliest man would need time off” Kirishima expressed.
“No I bet any money he’ll be back today” Mei said
“You’re fucking stupid there’s no way he’ll be back so soon” Bakugou scoffed. Before any of the other friends could give their opinions Aizawa made his way into the classroom.
Once he got everyone to settle down and stop fussing over him, he told the kids that the annual sports festival was going to be going on despite the recent villain attack. Aizawa explained that this was the perfect opportunity for them to be scouted before their internships took place, since it was only 2 weeks away he let the class go and begin training.
Suddenly a massive group of people amassed before the 1-A classroom. Mei and her friends got up to see who was outside and they heard Iida ask “What is your business with Class A?”
“They’re scouting out the enemy, small fry” Bakugou spat. “We’re the ones who made it out of the villain attack, they wanna check us out before the sports festival now out of my way extras!” Iida being the sensitive soul he is yelled at Bakugou for calling people extras.
Then suddenly Mei’s purple haired friend pushed through the crowd to say “I came to see the famous 1-A for myself and it turns out you’re all pretty arrogant. Are all the students in the hero course like this? Well maybe all except one” He looked at Mei as he said the last part and Mei responded by blowing over a kiss.
Shinsou carried on “There are a bunch of people in general studies and other courses that didn’t make it into the hero course, now depending on the sports festival we might get transferred into this course and so some will get transferred out. So I came with a declaration of war”
There was then a moment of silence that Kaminari broke by crying out “Mei shouldn’t you control your friend?”
“Why would I he’s on a roll and he does have a point, I sincerely hope Mineta gets kicked out and Shinsou joins our class” Mei scoffed with her arms folded.
“Mei why would you say something so hurtful” Mineta exclaimed to which Mei replied with a middle finger.
Kirishima joined in on the conversation “Bakugou what are you going to do since it’s your fault they’re hating on us?”
“It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter as long as you rise to the top” Bakugou scowled before looking over his shoulder towards his friends but maintained eye contact with Mei “You coming or not?”
“Hell yeah lets go” Mei gathered her things and made her way over to Bakugou, she stopped just in front of Shinsou “I’ll see you later” she said with a smile on her face. Leading to Shinsou getting a few pats on the back and ‘whoo’s’ thrown at him. Bakugou and Mei walked away together and made their way to the train station, Bakugou with his hands in his pockets and Mei walking shoulder to shoulder with
“You got first place in the entrance exam didn’t you?” Mei asked.
“Yup beat you by a point” Bakugou stated.
“Shut the fuck up that’s not the point, I was going to ask what are you going to say if they ask you to say something before the ceremony?” she said while hitting her friend repeatedly.
“That’s a fucking stupid question I’ll just make something up on the spot” Katsuki replied swatting Mei’s hands away.
“If you say something Bakugou-esque everyone will hate you and I’ll just laugh” Mei commented as she pushed Bakugou away
“Do I look like I give a fuck about what people think? If you keep hitting me im going to take that as an invitation for a fight and I’ll beat the shit out of you” Bakugou scowled.
“I can absolutely guarantee if we have a fight today my brother will kill both me and you, so I’ll take a rain check on that” The two of them arrived at the split road when Mei asked Bakugou if he wanted to come round her house, but he ended up telling her he needs to go train and some shit like that.
