King Henry

Henry carries a certain guilt every time he sees his daughter’s face.

The memory of him telling Maleficent that they can’t be together after all haunts him day by day. And he would never forget Maleficent's face as she opened the cradle to find his daughter.

'I shall just have to break your heart as you had broken mine, lover.'

And when she had left, the only remainder of her visit was the curse hanging on Pam's head.

He took his daughter in his arms, and swore on his life, that she will never be harmed ever again.

When his wife announced to him that she’s carrying another child, he didn’t get any joy from the news.

He was horrified. Another child for Maleficent to target. But there's nothing they could do about it.

The baby boy came in the middle of winter.

He love the boy. And the boy is a darling of sweet temperament.

Made it easy for people to forget the little baby. Not when Pam needs more attention. She had just began to understood that she’s different.

And she’s terrified. And she needs her parents.

She needs them more than the baby does. He would barely remember this, would he?

It was during summer when he decided that the family should go to the beach. Somewhere nice and warm, in Ankara

Pam was 7, and Tine was 5. They had been running around, enjoying themselves like only children could.

Ariana was at ease, and he was contented to sit back and relax.

It was then that he heard Pam screaming bloody murder.

“Henry!” Ariana had screamed. He had run towards the ocean, where he saw Tine pulling Pam further to deeper waters. He was laughing and mocking his sister, and Pam was screaming and yelling for him to let go.

“TINE!” he had roared. “TINE, STOP IT!”

Both children stopped and stared as he ran and pulled Pam harshly. Tine looked bewildered.

He didn’t even realise when he hit Tine in the face.

“HOW COULD YOU DO THAT?” he yelled. “WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO YOUR SISTER?”

Tine blinked, and his lips quivered. Pam was staring at the scene, just as shocked as her little brother.

He walked with Pam in his arms, and he could hear Tine running behind him with his small legs, crying and saying sorry over and over again.

He put Pam down when he reached the beach. Tine went to him, bawling his eyes out.

“Pasha Type,” he said sharply. The young man looked at him in bewilderment. He’s new to Henry’s court, but already infamous for being a brilliant minister.

“Your Highness,” he bowed. Tine was crying and tugging at his shirt.

“Look after Tine. I’m going to have my daughter checked.”

Type looked at him back hesitatingly. But he knelt and cooed for the crying boy.

Tine was still tugging, his voice croaking from crying. “Fadder,” he sobbed. “Fadder, I’m sorry.”

“Come here, Prince Tine,” Type said kindly. Tine shook his head. But Henry stood out of his reach and walked away. Type caught the boy just before he could bolt off after his father.

He felt like it was yesterday that he’d left Tine in Type’s care.

The next thing he know, it was Tine’s 14th  birthday and Tine was kneeling in front of him, albeit a bit fearful as Type calmly informed him that Tine has been progressing well in his study, is well-liked by the palace help and would do well as a squire, in preparation for knighthood and princedom.

He nodded in disinterest. As long as Tine is not hurt, he doesn’t mind.

When Type came, face thunderous, telling him that Tine has gone missing, his heart dropped.

And when Type looked at his daughter and said ‘You have always been insecure in one upping Tine in every corner to the point of becoming obsessive. You are honestly telling me that you suddenly started respecting his privacy after 18 years? Try again,’ he willed for his daughter to argue back, or at least to be shocked about it.

But he saw how her face darkened and she scowled, not a care in the world for her missing brother.

Sure, she is entitled. But he had let her be, since she has an imminent curse hanging on her head.

He didn’t think it would have made her so…cruel.

Type, the Prince Sarawat and their men left, to find Tine no doubt.

Henry sat back on his chaise and realised he had lost his son 13 years ago in Ankara.
