Baby steps

Third POV

Jin woke up to his phone ringing, he groaned quietly taking the phone finding that it's strange number but decided to answer maybe it's an emergency.

"Hello?"

"Yes I'm"

"What? Are you serious!?" Jin said in shock going to the living room so that he won't wake jungguk by mistake.

"OMG!! I can't believe it thank you so much"

"Yes yes, I will come today! About an hour and I will be there"

" Good bye, thank you again" Jin closed the call trying to swallow the more than great news, he needs to get ready!

In less than 20 min he was ready, all the boys are sleep as  today was their day off so they decided to take the chance to bond  with Jungguk and bring him to the park when they wake up, Jin wanted desperately to tell them where he is going to but he decided to keep it secret. He took jungguk gently from his crib and put him beside Tae in his bed.

"Tae Tae" Jin said in hushed voice but of course Tae was in very deep sleep so Jin pulled his pillow making sure that Jungguk is sleeping peacefully.

"Mmmm ...what? Hyung give me my pillowww" Tae said with sleepy tone trying to reach for the pillow.

"Tae Tae I'm going out take Jungguk beside you and take care of him" now Tae opened his eyes little to take jungguk in his embrace and was out again and Jin thanked his luck that Tae didn't question it any further.

Jin secured the other side of the bed with pillows just incase. He took his keys then got out quietly.

It was another an hour that the boys started waking up and getting ready; when they (all except Yoongs and Tae) entered the kitchen, they felt something odd. Jin wasn't there.

"Wow is Jin hyung still sleeping, that's not him" Hoseok said frowning.

"Maybe he is just extra tired this morning you know how he has been busy the past weeks" Jimin said reassuring his hyungs. "I volunteer to make breakfast"

"And I volunteer to see something to watch" Namjoon said and got out leaving jiminie and hobi to the breakfast.

It has been 20 minutes later when they finished preparing breakfast (or early lunch) that Yoongi and Tae who was holding freshly showered baby kookie came to join them.

"But where is Jin hyung?" Namjoon asked Tae.

"He is out" Tae said shrugging.

"To where? Did he tell us that he has important thing to do" Namjoon said frowning knowing how Jin appreciate his off days and will do anything to stay home.

"I don't know I was too sleepy to ask to be honest" Tae replied trying to remember if his hyung mentioned any thing about his destination.

Namjoon took out his phone and called him.

"Jin hyung....where are you?"

"You are on your way now?"

"Can't wait...be safe bye" he ended the call looking at the curious eyes.

"He said that it's a very great surprise and that he is on his way back"

"Ok..here Tae... kookie's bottle" Tae thanked him and started to feed the baby each of them started eating thinking about the great surprise that their hyung has.

After they finished eating they went to the living waiting for their hyung to come and playing with Jungguk who was in a very pleasant mood. He was setting in Hoseok's legs who was shaking him making the baby laugh loudly.

Suddenly they heard the front door opening and they looked up to see Jin coming (of course after taking of his shoes) with arms behind his back and a bright smile on his face.

"Hyung where were you?"

"Why is that smile?"

*Some babbling sound from jungguk while he was extending his arms towards Jin wanting to be held by him*

"What's behind your back..waah hyung, you got me ice cream?*

"Finally you quitted your job"

"Guuuuys, let him speak!!"

"Thank you Joon, No Tae, this is not ice cream and no Yoongs, I didn't leave my job" Jin said chuckling at his dongsaeng exclaim why Yoongi always wants him to leave his job, a mystery that he will never know.

"Guys take a deep breath" Jin said breathing deeply him self. "Jungguk ...is...officially...ours!!" He said slowly pulling the adoption papers. "we are his legal guardians guys!!"

*Silence except for Junggkook who started to whine for Jin who gladly took him*

"Hyung is that real? Junggukie is really ours" Namjoon asked in disbelief.

"Yes namjoon_ah" Jin said and got the adoption paper and gave it to him making the others surround Namjoon while he is scrolling through the pages and then a series of cheers erupted through the house.

They waited for this day since the first day they got jungguk, especially Jin he had been going through the processes of adoption as he is the eldest and social workers visited him in his office various time to see how he works and then visited them in the house to see how they deal with Jungguk. So when he got the call this morning, he couldn't believe himself and wanted to surprise the others so he went alone.

"Guys do you know what this means" Tae asked suddenly.

"It's jungguk's birthdaaaay" Jimin said cheerfully taking Jungguk from Jim's arms and swinged him in the air making Jungguk laugh loudly.

They agreed that since there are no records showing his birthday, the day when they officially adopt him will be his birthday and this day was the 1st of September.

"So we will take him to the park then we celebrate!?" Hobi exclaimed/ asked in excitement.

"It's his first birthday, we need to make it special. So why not me, hobi, and Namjoon take him to the park while the rest of us decorate the house" Yoongi suggested and they agreed as they need to make the baby feel more comfortable with all of them equally.

Hobi took Gukki to dress him up while the others prepared for their day.

"Hmmm, what should you wear today, baby?" Hobi asked him showing him his closet and let the baby choose. Jungguk looked at Hobi then to the clothes, they've done this before letting the baby know that he can ask or choose what he wants in a way to let him express himself without feeling scared.

The baby finally reached for a panda outfit which Hobi happily took and dressed him with. Hoseok quickly got dressed and together they went downstairs to meet the others.

"I can't get used to how cute he is!!" Jimin squealed trying to take Gukki from Hoseok but the latter ran away with him.

"Hyung, give him to meeeee"

"Not a chance chim, he is ours today"

"Yaah!! Don't run in the kitchen or you will slip" came Jin voice shouting from the living room while blowing some balloons.

After getting everything ready the trio took Jungguk and went to the party leaving the other three to decorate the house for him and get him presents.

They reached the park and put the picnic mat with various snacks for them; Hobi settled Gukki between his outstretched legs and leaned back on  his elbows taking some sun and breathing deeply. 

Baby Gukki kept silent watching kids running untill something caught his eyes, a father swinging his son in the swing while the kid is smiling and laughing. Gukki crawled to Namjoon pulling his shirt softly.

"What is it, baby?' Namjoon asked taking jungguk in his arms who pointed to the swing with grabbing hands. Namjoon got the message and took jungguk to the swing, setting  him in it, making sure that he is secure then proceeded to push him.

The baby was amazed with it, his laughs radiating each time he is about to come Namjoon but going swinging back again and Namjoon was pretending to catch him but fail when he goes back.

At Jungguk happiness, Namjoon felt happy but also felt a bang of sorrow hit him; the way Jungguk kept looking at the father and his son and their interaction with confused sad eyes hurt him it's like he was confused to why his parents were different. He hopes that one day he will understand that parents should be loving not cruel and abusing like his parents. On the other hands, he is happy with the progress they are making at first Jungguk will only go to Jin or Tae latching himself to them but now he is content with anyone of them. They still try to make him speak and realised that the only word "TaTa" that he says_much to Tae's dismay_  is not Tae himself but he says it when he needs something and due to Tae repeating "TaTa" to him, it stick with him. But from Namjoon point, they manage to make him comfortable with him and he started freely playing and laughing and that is a success to him.

After a while he noticed that kookie's started to get dizzy from it so he stopped it and took him in his hand noticing how his head immediately fell on his shoulder so he slowly went back to their spot scared of making him more dizzy.

"What happened?" Yoongi asked them in a worried tone when Namjoon sat beside them and leaning Kookie back on him.

"He got a little dizzy from the swing so we will take a break.

"Baby?" Hobi asked holding one of his tiny hands. "You feel ok? Do you want to nap?" at that Kookie nodded his head and closing his eyes while the three of them rubbed his hand l, tummy and head making Kookie feel fully content and closed his eyes to get the feeling of everything moving around go away.

It was 30 minutes later that Jungkook felt good again the moving feeling got away and he sat properly.

"Hey Kookie, do you feel okay now?" Yoongi asked softly brushing his bangs away from his eyes getting a nod from him.

"You hungry, baby?" Hobi asked getting out his bottle and Kookie took it from him and drank it. They were happy that he started to make things by himself like going to his play pin and pick up his favourite toys rather than being carried to their.

After they ate, they kept playing with Jungkook till Jin sent to them that everything is ready so they excitedly packed their things but that after making sure that Kookie is done playing with each game their and went back home.

When they reached home they found that everything is decorated with different balloons from various colours and some has shapes of kookie's favourite character in cars or ironman. Jungguk gasped from surprise then squeaked in happiness making all his hyungs heart melt in adoration.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUNGGUK" they all said once they reached the living room where a big cake that was decorated with blue and the sentence "HAPPY BIRTHDAY OUR KOOKIE" is drawn on it. They can tell that Jin really beats himself every time.

Kookie was still in awe looking around with bright eyes at every thing a big laugh shone brightly on his small face. He was very happy he can't really understand what is birthday but his hyungs were happy while singing to him and saying his name so he is happy too also they got a lot of ironman toys around.

"Junggukie~" he heard someone calls him and he turned to find a big ironman toy Infront of him it's about his height and more, he gasped when he saw it and reached to carry it giggling happily.

"We promise you baby that we will try our best to make you happy no matter what"

"Yes Kookie, you just point at everything and we will get it"

"Yah don't spoil it much!"

"Hyung, you are the most one who spoils him"

"Yes, I spoil him not you so I can be his favourite hyung"

"Haha hyung I'm his favourite hyung, he said my name firstly"

"No Tae we knew that it's just his way of asking for thing"

"You don't know for sure so still I'm his favourite hyung"

" Why can't we all become his favourite hyungs?"

"Says the one who sang to him a lullaby about him being the favourite hyung?"

"HYUNG"

Between their arguing Jungguk suddenly said loudly smiling happily making them all stop looking at him surprised.

"J Jungguk what did you say?" Jin asked take him from Namjoon.

"HYUNG" he said again hugging Jin tightly while Jin stood there eyes wide trying to perform any sentence.

"OMG!! He really talked this time" Tae said smiling happily and all his hyungs cheered at this.

"You are a family now Jungguk, we are officially your hyungs"

"HAPPY BIRTHDAAAAY" they sang again and got cakes over their faces laughing with Kookie their official dongsaeng.
