Baby steps

Jin POV

"Hyung, who is that baby?"

"Why is he with you?"

"He is so small"

"Did you left medicine to work as babysitter at the end?" It was all questions that came from his other friends doesn't know who said what from the rush of them but he is sure the last one is from yoongi.

"Guys guys!! Please be quiet ; you will wake him up" I told them refering to the baby sleeping in Tae's arms.

We moved to sit on the couch and immediately, Jiminie and Hopi surrounded the baby cooing that he is so cute.

"Omg!! Hyung, look at his small nose it's just so cute" jimin squeaked brushing jungguk's nose lightly.

"Hyung I guess the baby really needs to have a bath" Hoseok said and I know what he is referring to; the baby really needs a bath his face and body is covert in dirt and the clothes he is wearing are ruined.

"Yeah I know I will give him a bath in few minutes, I just don't want him to wake up now he is going to be scared to be surrounded with new environment"

"Hyung, you still didn't tell us; who is this baby?" Yoongi asked narrowing his eyes as he suspects what I'm gonna say and I sighed.

"Please don't shout after what I'm saying but this baby will stay with because his parents abandoned him and his name is jungguk"

"WHAT!!?" yoongi and Namjoon _shouted despite my warning_ waking the baby up who started to whine. I shoot them a glare and they apologised silently.

"Shhhh, it's okay baby; go back to sleep" Tae told him in a hushed voice swaying him gently.

Third POV

"Poor thing, your hyungs are so loud" jimin said casually _as if the baby already became part of the family_ while stroking the baby's stomach to which the baby winced moving Jimin's hand. Jin frowned in worry at first, he thought the baby was sleepy but now that the action is repeated, he is worried that he may be hurt in his stomach; he should check on him soon.

With Tae's and jiminie's soothing voices besides the swaying, hair and leg  brushing by Hoseok and Tae , they managed to make him sleep again. Jin was relieved that the baby is comfortable around them.

"Jin hyung, you know it's hard to raise up a baby"

"I know Namjoon_ah but I'm totally qualified"

"Yes, you are qualified but we are not. And what about our jobs; you already is the most busy one among us"

"I know that but we  will figure out way. Yoongi, we can't leave the baby to the authorities, he need love and care and I'm sure we can give him that."

"We barely at our 20th we can't raise him up well at least you can but the rest of us can't"

"You are at your 20th and one of the most successful people in your fields"

"You said it in our field, raising a baby is not in our profession"

"But you are so caring and I'm sure by days you will know how to take care of him, we can manage our self and our schedules"

"Why are you so attached to him hyung" namjoon asked and he froze, why am I really attached to him? Jin kept thinking of this.

"To be honest I don't know, I suddenly feel that I should protect him at all cases. I know you like to think logically but the logic says that he has more chance with us to have a proper life but if we sent him to the orphanage, he may end with not qualified parents or worse. Also Namjoon he has been abused, he won't trust anybody. I want to ensure happiness to him and don't you think that it's fate that made his mum bring him to us?" Jin told him and Namjoon took a  while before replying but the baby cut him by crying again.

The baby looked very stressed; Tae, Jimin, and Hoseok tried to reassure him but to no avail, he was looking around the room with scared eyes until Jimin moved from his side a little and the baby's eyes fell on Jin, he leaned towards him clinching and opening his hands in indication that he wants him, he didn't waste a second and took the distressed baby in his chest humming quietly and to their surprise it didn't take more than 2 minutes to calm down and reduced to a pouty cute face that made them awe.

Yoongi and Namjoon looked at each others with a meaning look Then looked at the boy in Jin's arms who seemed relaxed against him while Jin is looking at him with caring warm eyes, they know hundred percent that Jin is capable of taking care of him but they doubt themselves; will they be able to really deal with traumatized baby??

"I'm going to give him a bath so he can rest then we can continue" Jin interrupted their silent communication ،and they nodded knowing that their talk will disturb him. "Tae, come with me to help. Jimin, can you and hobi got the clothes and his bath tub. Joon and yoongs can you instal his portable crib in my room, please"

The all nodded and went to perform the mission in hand. Jin sat on the closed toilet lid seating jungguk on his legs and asked Tae to adjust the temperature of the water while he tried to play with the baby to get him to smile but the baby kept whining and attaching him self to Jin as to his himself.

Jimin go the bath tub and went to choose cute outfit for him babbling about how he would look cute in bunny onesies or bear why they didn't make one with both on it?. They got his pants off but when they reached to get his T-Shirt, he started fussing and moving their hands oway trying to hide.

"Hey, baby it's okay let's just take this yukie clothes of you" Jin cooed frowning from his actions but the baby only get more fussier and staring at Jin with wide scared eyes.

Scared....the baby was scared of them after trying to get his T-Shirt and the realisation hit Jin like a brick. Wincing while rubbing his stomach. Scared while trying to get his shirt off, Jin didn't want to believe the ugly truth and he looked at Tae who also seemed to realise.

The braced them selves.

"He Gukkie it's okay" Jin said hugging him to his chest the nick name slipped past his lips not knowing from where it came but didn't care. "We won't give you an ouchie baby, we just need to put your in the bubbles, look" he turned him so he is looking in his small attached tub which is now full of bubbles from different colours and the baby relaxed a little looking curious so Jin took him gently and made his legs touch the water and they were surprised of the reaction.

The baby started giggling after touching the water trying to move his legs so it can splash some water out, it made Jin and Tae's hearts warms they looked at each others as soon as hearing and seeing him happy. His one beaking small tooth_smile was so precious, the sound of his giggles would make you smile even in your worst days. He is so precious.

Few minutes and Jin withdrew him so he won't catch a cold being naked to which the baby whined wanting to be there while extending his tiny arms.

"Just a minute cutie, we need to take this off" Tae told him holding the him of his worn out t-shirt and the baby stiffened a little but let him pull it off.

Gasping and crying.

That's what followed.

They gasped and froze from what they saw and the baby cried being scared from their reactions while trying to hide his tummy.

"S sowwy. m me sowwy!"

He stuttered out and that's what got them to the reality. Jin quickly hugged him gently not to hurt him more whispering to him to calm down while Tae rubbed his feet gently while the small fragile scared baby kept apologising. He was both cause the baby started talking and the word he knows is "sorry" rather than starting with "mama or appa" he started with apologising, it breaks him.

They wanted to hug and hide him from this cruel world, they wanted to make the ones who are responsible for that pay the price but no matter what they will do to them it won't put off the raging fire when they saw the innocent baby tummy this missed up.

Why he is apologising? For being beaten from probably drunk abusive father to get him bruises that turned purple? Or from being cut with a knife with the same father while the mother just stood watching her child being cut open leaving a nasty scar on his tummy while few of them looked new? Or he is crying for being innocent and harmless with no way to defeat himself? Or for being in a cruel world?

They didn't know why he is apologising for but the both is hugging him now gently to not scare or suffocate him, their tears is falling at steady rate till they forced it to stop, the baby doesn't need more fear.

"Shhhh, no more tears sweetie, we want to see your smily pretty face" Jin told him wiping his falling tears with his thumbs. "You are safe with us, no more ouchies" he continued rubbing his back till the baby calmed down.

Jin gently picked the baby again and put his body in the bath tub situating him as to not slip and fall. The baby tensed at the first before fully relaxing the warm water and again started playing while giggling, Jin gently rinsing his body with water being aware of the wounds.

Tae took the toys the are provided with tub and started playing with him hearing more squeaks and giggles which made they laugh a long. Tae looked at Jin seeing the look in his eyes, the look Jin always look at his dongsaenges that promises with protection and comfort.

Jin won't leave jungguk no matter what.

They finished bathing him, pulling him in a big towel that only part of his head appears and went to Jin's room to dress him, the baby was blinking slowly wanting to sleep.

Upon entering the room, they found the rest of his brothers waiting with yoongi and Joon finishing the crib.

"Hyung, I finally chooses this bunny onesies it will look very cute on him" Jiminie said bouncing wanting to hold the baby but again when Jin went to give him to Jiminie, he whined and held into Jin making Jimin pout.

"Sorry Minnie, he just needs to sleep" Jin told him and Jiminie smiled immediately.

"Baby is so tried, right?" Jimin said in gentle soothing voice brushing his hands in jungguk's hair.

"Tae can you please prepare his bottle?" Jin asked him and Tae nodded got out to prepare it. He knows how to make a bottle from experience with his cousin and going to Jim's clinic.

Jin still holding the baby went to fetch the first aid kit from his drawer making all of the others frown in question.

"Don't panic please, we don't need to scare him more" he told them paying the baby down on his bed. "Remember when he winced and removed your hands from his stomach, Jiminie?" He continued looking at Jimin who nodded.

"Wait, you don't mean? Hyung no!! He is so small" Jimin said tears immediately flooded in his ears and the others gasped lightly putting their hands on their mouthes.

"His parents hurt him in his stomach, please don't react so furiously or suddenly, he will panic more" by the time Jin finished and looked at the baby he was closing his eyes comforted with Jin's finger that he holds and being in this fluffy towel made him more warm.

"Poor baby" they all said with sad voices and Jin sighed not wanting more than to protect him.

Jin asked jimine to hold the baby's hand so he can free his finger and dress him and for Hobi to try and distract him if he ever woke up while Namjoon and Yoongi stood nearby not wanting to disturb them but don't want to leave the baby they also felt the need to protect him. How can someone be cruel like that?

Jin started by diapering him then gently applied some antibacterial cream on the open wounds the last thing he wanted is for the poor thing to have infection. Then he gently dressed him and put the small cap on his hair.

"His soo cute, how can he be this cute?" Hobi said in hushed voice wanting desperately to squeeze him.

Jin held him just in time Tae is back with the bottle handing it to his hyung commenting on how he is looking adorable and cute to which Jin chuckled brushing the bottle on the baby mouth_after checking the temperature_ and the baby started suckling while sleeping.

"Guys, I won't leave the baby no matter what" Jin suddenly said after a few minutes of silence and before anyone could answer Yoongi replied.

"We know hyung, and we also won't leave him we will make efforts to take care and protect him" Jin looked at him with find eyes smiling gratefully.

"Yes hyung, although I'm scared to hold him I will try my best" this was Namjoon who went and knelt Infront of him and brushed his hand gently on jungguk's hair to which the baby relaxed more and hummed in satisfaction making Joonie beam in happiness making all of them smile and giggle.

"Welcome to your new home baby, you will meet your hyungs when you wake up...sweet dreams" Jin whispered to  him leaning  a little and giving him small gentle kiss on his forehead and the baby fully slept finishing his bottle. He is finally finding the secure and warm hands to hold and comfort him, maybe those strangers aren't that bad.
