Tamaki/Reader - Parents
You stared at the stick in your hands, unable to process the information. Five other tests littered the bathroom floor with the same results. Positive? It couldn't be. You didn't miss taking your birth control. You knew that birth control didn't have a 100% success rate, but you had been with Tamaki for going on five years now, and it's never once failed. How did it fail this time? You slid to the ground, your hands shaking as you threw the stick across the bathroom. You tried to calm yourself down, taking deep breaths. You were both pro heroes. You might be able to put a hold on your career, but you didn't want to have to ask that of Tamaki. You didn't even know if he wanted kids. Sure, you've talked about spending your lives together, buying a house, that kind of thing, but never kids. You weren't even engaged yet. You were still just his girlfriend, and now, the mother of his child. You stayed in the bathroom for another hour before leaving, tucking the sticks away in your purse. You knew he wouldn't look through there, and you had to figure out what to do. You decided to call Mirio and ask him to meet you at a local cafe. Tamaki was his best friend since they were kids, maybe he could help.
"Hm. I don't know if Tamaki wants kids. We've never really talked about it before. Why do you ask?" Mirio asked, sipping his coffee. Your stomach was doing somersaults in your belly, your hands trembling as you gripped your tea. You wouldn't normally drink tea, but you knew caffeine wouldn't be good for the baby. "I'm pregnant," you mumbled. A moment of silence past, then another, and another. You looked up to see Mirio staring at you. "Seriously? With Tamaki's kid?" he asked, his mouth hanging open. You rolled your eyes. "No, Mirio, it's Aizawa's." He just stared at you, processing what you just said. "Of course it's Tamaki's! I just...I don't know if he wants kids, and I don't want to ask him to put his career on hold," you explained. Mirio smiled at you, reaching across the table to gently hold your hand. "I can't explain to you in words how much he loves you. He constantly gushes about you and every single one of your accomplishments. He'll go to the ends of the earth for you. The two of you make such a great team, you guys are gonna be great parents," Mirio said, stroking his thumb across the back of your hand. You looked at him with tears in your eyes, smiling. "Thank you Mirio," you whispered, squeezing his hand before pulling away. "Of course. And I'll be the best uncle ever!" he said, laughing. You giggled along with him before checking your phone. Two texts and a missed call from Tamaki. "Oh, I better get going. Tamaki is starting to worry," you said, standing up and giving Mirio a big hug. "Thank you, and I'll keep you updated!" you whispered before walking out. "Bye Y/N!" he said, ruffling your hair a little before you left.
You walked in your shared apartment with Tamaki, gently setting your purse down. "Tamaki? Where are you?" you called out, going to look around. You walked into the living room to find him folding laundry and absentmindedly watching TV. "Hey," you said, smiling at him. His head shot up and a huge smile broke across his face. He all but ran across the room and pulled you into a tight hug, bending down to burying his face into the crook of your neck. "I missed you," he said, muffled. Your heart swelled and you smiled, hugging him tightly. "I missed you too Tama," you said, inhaling his scent as you gently pet his hair. He let out a low whine when your hand ran through his hair, sighing when you gently scratched his scalp. "Where did you go?"he asked, shuffling you backwards until the two of you fell on the couch and he could comfortably lay half on top of you. You let out a small "oof" noise, chuckling. You loved how adorable he was when he was needy. Although to be fair, he hasn't seen you in nearly 16 hours. "I went to coffee with Mirio," you said, your heart starting to pound in your chest. He took notice and tilted his head up to look at you, his eyebrows furrowed in concern. "Your heart is beating faster. Why?" he asked, anxiety rising in his chest. You were silent for a moment. "Please sit up, Tamaki." He did so without any complaints, moving away from you until you weren't touching anymore. "B-bunny?" he asked, watching you sit up before going to stand in front of him. You refused to look at him, instead opting to stare at the ground. Your hands were shaky and sweaty, and it caught his eye. "Y/N, what's wrong?" he asked, his own hands starting to shake. What if you were about to tell him you didn't love him anymore? He didn't know if he could take losing you. "Tamaki," you said, your voice shaky. You looked up at him, already in tears as you bit your lip. His eyes were wide and filled with fear. "I'm pregnant."
He stared up at you, his eyes wide and his lips slightly parted in surprise. "Y-you're...what?" he asked, his mouth dry. "I'm pregnant. I found out this morning. I took multiple tests. I still have to make an appointment, but...congratulations, Tama," you said, tears sliding down your cheeks. You couldn't tell if he was happy or angry or sad and it freaked the hell out of you. Slowly, he started to speak. "I-I'm...gonna be...a d-dad? We're having a kid?" he asked, tears filling up in his eyes and started to fall down his face. You smiled as you nodded, more tears falling. "Oh my god, I'm gonna be a dad," he cried, launching up to wrap you in a hug. The smile on his face was blinding, even through the tears. You smiled back, overwhelmed with happiness and relief. The two of you collapsed to the ground, still holding each other and crying. "We're gonna be parents," he whispered, gently putting his hand on your lower stomach. You nodded, smiling more than you ever have. "Yes we are," you whispered back, gently placing a kiss on his cheek. He turned your head before kissing you, his hand moving to cradle the back of you head. Your hands came up to cup his face, pulling him closer to you. The kiss tasted salty, but neither of you minded. You pulled away, resting your forehead on his. "Tama, what are we going to do?" you asked, your voice starting to shake again. "What do you mean?" he asked, pulling away, worried. "We're both pro heroes. What are we going to do?" you repeated, biting your bottom lip. "We have more than enough money to comfortably support a baby, and we-"
You interrupted him, kissing his forehead. "I don't want to ask you to put your career on hold. I'll stay at home to raise our baby until they're old enough, but I don't want to ask that of you," you explained quietly. "Bunny, I'll do whatever it takes to support you and our baby. You're the most important things to me. Heroism will always come second," he whispered. You rested your head on his shoulder, wiping away your tears. "I love you, Tama," you said, holding him to you. "I love you, Bunny," he said, kissing the top of your forehead. There was a brief moment of silence between the two of you before you chuckled. "Oh god, now we have to tell our friends." Tamaki let out a groan as he buried his face in your hair, making you laugh even more.
