some creepy purple stuff

Two boys sat in a nest of safety, a gray blanket engulfing their lanky shivering bodies. It was Halloween night and the power was out, not due to PG&E or any power lines down, but causes unknown. Something supernatural you might suppose, seeing as a mass blackout without proof of turned off power or tampering was quite unheard of. The city was terrified to the bone. Everyone was evacuated off trick or treating grounds and back into their homes. Families huddled in blankets and illuminated their homes with candles and flashlights. Children curled up in their parents laps, teens fearing the urban legends seen on shows like buzzfeed unsolved were coming to life. Rumors of purple shadows haunted suburban neighborhoods. Homes plagued by fear, terrorized by the thought of a nameless threat, the purple shadows. The boys sat in the icy room, shaking in the blanket as they held a single candle, cupping it in their hands, surrounded by amethyst crystals, the moonlight reflecting a purple glow, softly reciting the following, “Purple Shadow, Violet Mist, Lavender Haze”. They were performing a retrieving spell, for the purple shadows which lurked in the night. They concentrated perfectly, no interruptions prodding at their mind. They intently focused their energy into the spell, hoping to sufficiently fuel it. Their energy was fading, their minds falling into a dull, empty, numb state, still chanting in monotone lifeless voices. Their chocolate and seasalt eyes rolled back, their eye whites as bright as the stars, the raw power manifesting, materializing then and there in the two boys empty souls. The purple shadow crept its way into the room, turning to a violet mist swirling around their frail bodies, taking final form in a lavender haze, poisoning the boys bloodstreams, intoxicating them. Their starlight white eyes taking in a purple hue, as they eerily whispered, “You’ve come, master.”
