Chapter 1
As Sir Nighteye, Le Million, and Deku we’re out on patrol for the first time during Deku’s internship, the pitter-patter of bare feet was heard from the ally at the groups right. The two students stiffened as their teacher raised a hand, signaling them to stay where they were. From the ally, a little girl, no older than 7, raced out, barefoot, and wearing a knee-length white dress with vine patterns at the base. She had long silver hair, messily tied up in a ponytail and a little horn protruding from the left side of her forehead. Big ruby eyes sparkled in joy as she laughed, turning back to the ally to call,
”Daddy, come on!” A chuckle was heard from the ally, and a few moments later, a man appeared, winded and breathing heavily through his black medical mask. He wore a green dress shirt and black pants. Gloved hands carried a pair of light yellow sandals, which presumably belonged to the barefooted girl.
”I’m not as fast, or as young as you are, Eri. Please don’t go running off like that again.” His voice was cold and harsh but had softened for his daughter. Sir Nighteye cleared his throat, making the pair take notice of the Pro and hero students. Eri squeaked in fear and ran back to her father, hiding behind his legs which had moved to a more ready position. Deku’s eyes widened at her reaction, feeling a little guilty to be at the source of such a young girl’s fear.
Sir Nighteye stepped forward so he was directly in front of the man. “Are you the girl’s father?” He nodded to the trembling Eri. The man’s eyes narrowed at the Pro before nodding stiffly. “I am.”
Le Million moved forward, followed closely by Deku, and knelt to be at the girl’s level. “Hi! I’m Le Million, and I’m training to be a Pro Hero! What’s your name?” Eri stared at him for a couple of seconds before glancing at her father, seeking... something. His golden eyes narrowed at the students before meeting Eri’s and nodding. The girl stepped out from behind her father and stood tall before the blonde. “I’m Eri.”
The short answer made Sir Nighteye raise a brow. Le Million was trying to come up with an answer when Deku crouched to her height and stuck out a hand. “My name is Deku! What’s your quirk?”
Something in both the man’s and Eri’s eyes flashed. The man swiftly scooped up his daughter, bowing shortly to the Pro before turning on his heel to start making his way back into the ally. Sir Nighteye followed, calling out to the man, “Stop! How do we know she’s your real daughter, and you’re not just some kidnapper that brainwashed her?!” Le Million followed the Pro close behind with a confused Deku at his side.
The man (Villian? Sir made a very good point) made no move to stop. After 10 minutes of walking and both Pro Hero and students trailing him, the brunette finally halted, turning a searing gaze to the Pro. He had stopped in front of a mansion, a huge man with pink hair standing by the gates.
“Chrono.” The pink-haired man stepped forward, taking Eri without a word before striding past the gates and towards the mansion. The brunette then turns to the trio. “Can you give me a good reason I shouldn’t put a restraining order on you three? Or charge you for harassment, even?” Deku floundered at that, stuttering apologies and incoherent words while waving his hands around in an embarrassed gesture.
After about 20 seconds of this, Sir Nighteye raised a hand, making him stop. “What’s your name?” The brunette sighed, running a hand through short hair. “Chisaki. Chisaki Kai.” Sir Nighteye nodded, satisfied with his response. “Chisaki-san, why did your daughter react that way?” Golden eyes narrow at the Pro before Chisaki turned away.
“That’s not my story to tell. If we ever meet again, perhaps you’ll have taught your student that some people aren’t proud of their quirks.” Deku flushed at being called out, muttering apologies.
Chisaki walked through the gates surrounding the mansion, before lifting one gloved hand in farewell. “Until we meet again, Heroes.”
