Chapter 2
Dawn has struck, the sun illuminating the sky above. Mafuyu has finally retreated, While waiting for the time to return, she sat down near the kingdom’s gate trying to treat her wounds the best she could.
She got the correct treatment she needed once she got back. The head of the dark knights, Aoyagi Toya immediately summoned her once he heard of her situation. Toya was well-versed in the light kingdom’s strategies as he had the most face to face encounters with them, he was clearly interested in the situation that caused the injuries that were inflicted onto Mafuyu.
Naturally, he was shocked to hear that infamous light knight Akito had been working with a hermit. It was a custom across all kingdoms that any relation with a hermit is forbidden. Toya escorted Mafuyu back to the castle’s recovery room after she told him everything about what had happened.
The recovery room was dusty, it hasn’t been used in awhile. Cobwebs infested the corners of the room, the wooden floor would creek under Mafuyu’s feet. The room had an old musty smell and the bedsheets placed on the small bed in the corner next to the window reeked of sickness. Mafuyu would have to stay there for a few weeks at least. During her journey to recovery, Mafuyu wasn’t allowed to move too much, meaning she would spend most of her time in that room. Mafuyu dreaded the thought.
Throughout her time in that room, Mafuyu had no one to keep her company, only occasional visits from the crazy alchemist Rui Kamishiro who’d have her try remedies, ointments and mixtures he swore would heal her quicker. It felt lonely in that room and she wished she’d recover quickly.
