coffee? nah

Jeongyeon woke with a head beating hangover, "Ah, God," she brought a hand up to feel the throbbing of her nerves. "I'm never drinking again,"

"You better not, you and Vice missed training today," a voice who didn't belong to Mina spoke, which made disoriented Jeongyeon alert.

She groaned when she saw Tzuyu at the table, sipping on some tea as she watched a movie, its volume really low. At least she's considerate.

Blinking the sleep away, she turned to look at her side, only to find that the woman who owns the bed she's on right now isn't beside her.

Jeongyeon sat up, rubbing her eyes with the heels of her palms, "Where's Mina?"

"Mina unnie more important than baseball now?" Tzuyu teases lightly.

"Tzu, I'm serious, where is she?" Jeongyeon already stood and made her way to the kitchen albeit the headache, memories of last night still without clarity.

"I don't know? She told me not to wake you," she nonchalantly says, "She looked like she cried all night again, though,"

As the Korean neared, Tzuyu placed her cup down on the coaster, "What did you do again?" judgment written on her face.

Jeongyeon closed her eyes shut and leaned on the counter for support— she tried to remember what has happened; what she has done, what she could've said. Or what she hasn't.

She was crying when I got back, maybe Sana said something?

Jeongyeon winces at the sudden pain her hangover is inducing, but she continues to rummage her brain for reasons.

Maybe her date with Nayeon went badly?

Forehead creasing, she disagreed with the thought instantly as Nayeon did nothing but treat Mina well these past few weeks. Too well.

Mina cried for how many times, but Jeongyeon couldn't even pinpoint any reason. Questions swarm her head, half of which for Mina, the other for herself— confusing her even more.

What if it's really me? She muses.

What if all these is because of me? What if when she said she didn't wanna fall...

A realization, an assumption more of, struck Jeongyeon in a flash.

What if she cried because she's going to leave me?! What if she cried because she's ending everything between us?!

"Fuck!"

Jeongyeon didn't bother answering Tzuyu's question. She grabbed her jacket and hurriedly wore her shoes.

A few seconds more, she's already out the door— a faint call for her name ignored.

Where are you?

Jeongyeon tried calling Mina's phone, but the latter isn't answering. It's her third attempt and it's still going to voicemail.

Her head is pounding, she couldn't think straight. What day is it today?

She noticed that there are only a few people walking around, in contrast to the usual bustle. What didn't change is the fact that people still look at her, but Jeongyeon couldn't care less. Shit, I don't even know the time.

She pulled her phone from her ear and discovered that it's 11:49AM on a Sunday.

Sundays... Jeongyeon thought hard. Mina doesn't have classes on Sundays.

She tried to remember anything Mina might've told her that had Sundays on it, but it isn't helping that her eyes still feels like its burning with the amount of sunlight this noon.

And then it popped suddenly. Mina has Oral Communication moved this Sunday at 11.

With the new information, she ran to her building and rode the elevator to her floor. The people she's with stared at her, and although Jeongyeon is used to this, there's something unusual in their eyes. She shrugged the weird feeling, she needs to see Mina. She needs to confirm whatever she said last night.

When the doors opened, she knew the class has already ended with all the people coming out of the room.

Jeongyeon still got off the elevator, hoping that Mina isn't the earliest of all the birds from getting out of the class. She resisted the flow of the crowd and onto the door, where she saw the back of a very familiar raven haired wearing a very familiar hoodie, talking to a professor. Jeongyeon knows it's Mina, she's certain, because that's the hoodie she refuses to return to her and claims that it's hers.

But that doesn't matter right now, Jeongyeon thought. She's leaving me, and I can't let that happen.

Jeongyeon only stared at the back of the woman who’s responsible for everything confusing; for all those little jabs on her chest that begin to hurt more and more with just one almost certain presumption.

The mere thought of Mina leaving her for Nayeon didn’t sit right— even if their date went well, even if Nayeon wants Mina now, even if it’s what their contract is all about.

I’m not letting you.

But there it came again. The question of why. Why wouldn’t she?

She watched Mina’s hair sway as she talked and nod at the conversation, maybe a minute has passed, maybe two, but Jeongyeon still hasn’t come up with a reason.

I can’t let you be hers.

Mina turned her heel to walk out of her class, relieved that this is the only one she has for this weekend. She was surprised when she saw Jeongyeon, she was even more surprised when she realized that she's looking at her worriedly— could even go so far to say that it was laced with hurt.

Clutching a folder to her chest, she walked up to her with a puzzled expression, "What are you doing here?"

Jeongyeon looked disheveled, she's still wearing the same clothes as yesterday. Her purple hair tousled, her eyes looked like they just woke up— but beyond that, Mina knows Jeongyeon is regarding her, as if she's treading on a thin line; for what, she isn't sure. There's no way she could've known what I told her last night?

Jeongyeon couldn't gather words to begin telling Mina what she has in mind, "Uhh, I..." her eyes flit, not able to meet the other's expectant gaze. She's unsure of the how's, the why's and if this even is the right time to ask.

How can I tell her that I know? How can I stop her from going just because she's hurting?

Mina seemed to had enough waiting and tried to help Jeongyeon out of whatever worried or awkward state she's putting both of them in and asked, "Have you eaten yet?" she reached in, lightly brushing the mess that is Jeongyeon's hair with her fingertips, in an attempt to smoothen it a little.

That had Jeongyeon look at her, but Mina thinks she'll remain speechless, considering the lost look she's given her, so she follows up, "How'd it go with Sana yesterday?"

Her face contorted with a grimace, Jeongyeon is not taking the Sana topic well, Mina reckons, so she pivots onto a lighter question, "Did you even brush your teeth before coming here?"

Like magic, Jeongyeon switched from being tongue-tied to still being tongue-tied, just with the addition of her being offended— playfully, Mina hopes, as she flashed the Korean her gummy smile.

"How could— of course, I did!" Jeongyeon exclaimed, trying to pass faux certainty, but Mina knows better.

She stepped closer to Jeongyeon and instantly, the taller girl snapped both her hands up to cover her mouth, which only made Mina chuckle at how easily she can catch Jeongyeon when she's lying.

So easy that you didn't even see that she's been lying to you all these months? Mina wanted to scoff at the thought that passed her.

It's not her right to know anything about whatever Jeongyeon does with Sana. It's not her right to feel betrayed, to feel used. Jeongyeon doesn't need to explain anything, simply because she's not Jeongyeon's anything, either.

So Mina decides to just enjoy how much time left she's got with this Jeong-ass. Decides to help her all the way through their contract, to get her back the person she truly loves— even if it means she'll only hurt herself more.

It won't be long till you get Sana back...

Mina clasped along the lining of Jeongyeon's jacket, pulling her slightly, and leaned to peck her hands that covered her lips with a playful smile, "I've kissed you a thousand times in less than a hundred mornings," she pulls them away and despite the other's protest, she kissed her anyway, "I'm not gonna start complaining now,"

If Mina learned anything while being with Jeongyeon all this time, it's that kisses never fail to make this Jeong-ass smile.

Mina knew going back to their usual set up is almost torture, but Jeongyeon doesn't know that. She doesn't have to know or else it will only complicate things.

I just need to stop myself from completely falling for you.

Jeongyeon smiled her shy one, and Mina wanted to melt, right there and then. She doesn't always smile like this, but when she does, Mina knows it's bound to make her weak.

But how do I keep myself from falling, when everything you do, I find endearing?

She can only shake her head, she knows answers aren't easy to find. She just hopes she can find them at the right time, before it's too late.

Jeongyeon reaches for her bag, and just this time, Mina lets her carry it for her. Jeongyeon reaches for her hand, and just this time, Mina lets herself live in a delusion that Jeongyeon will eventually be for her, and not for someone else.

-

Of course, Jeongyeon led them home. Tzuyu laughing as soon as she saw Jeongyeon and her hair, and basically the whole of her messy state.

"You really went out looking like that," Tzuyu snickers, "I tried to stop you earlier but you moved so fast, unnie,"

"Aish, shut it," Jeongyeon irritatedly says before heading to the bathroom with her overnight bag, leaving the two roommates alone.

Mina joined Tzuyu on the couch, a little smile tugged at the corners of her mouth, "So, she really did ran to fetch me?"

"Pretty much," Tzuyu took a bite from her bread, eyes never leaving the TV's screen, "She literally just woke up, asked me where you were, and ran out the door."

Mina giggled as she imagined the scene in her mind's eye. But why would she even do that?

Tzuyu continued, "I asked her if she made you cry again,"

There goes the reason.

Mina remained mum. She couldn't deny to her roommate that she cried last night, the evidence is just too obvious.

"Unnie," she called for the older girl and their eyes met, "Is everything alright with you two?"

Mina didn't know when the heaviness on her heart came back— she thought she's dealt with this when she told herself that it would be okay if she could just prevent her feelings for Jeongyeon to grow, but turns out, she's wrong again.

She wanted to say yes, but the drop on her chest is too sudden, it's becoming too much to bear, "No,"

Too much that she needs to at least let out a few, "We're— I'm not okay,"

Tzuyu turned up the volume of the TV, she guesses it's something her Mina unnie hasn't discussed with Jeongyeon yet, "Do you want to talk about it?"

Mina looked like she was contemplating, but Tzuyu wouldn't push if she's not comfortable sharing it. Their relationship isn't built like that.

After a few beats, Mina spoke, "I'm afraid, Tzu," her eyes told her that she were, if her words weren't enough, "I'm falling for Jeongyeon," she finally admits.

Mina looked relieved and conflicted and hurting, all at the same time. "But I thought you guys are already..." Tzuyu trails with confusion.

She doesn't understand her, not in the slightest bit. Her face made sure Mina knew that it's not the problem that she was expecting she would have.

Mina didn't answer, probably waiting for her to finish her thoughts, "I thought you were already in love with each other?"

Still, even with the curious question, Mina kept quiet. She averted her gaze and stared at nothing.

At this point, Tzuyu is certain. This is definitely the answer to her unnie's red and puffy eyes.

Mina is falling, and she's not sure if Jeongyeon is, too.

She breathed deep, composing a thought that may help put a stop to her roommate's worries.

"Have you seen Jeongyeon unnie's eyes when she looks at you?"

Mina stares at none, but at its mention, her lips tugged slightly— a small smile with a hint of fondness in her eyes.

Tzuyu wanted to sigh, and she would have done so, if it weren't for the chuckle that's escaped her involuntarily. Whipped.

"Now, imagine Jeongyeon unnie when she's looking at either Jihyo unnie or Momo unnie,"

This time, Mina broke into a smile; and Tzuyu couldn't be any prouder. Mina has gotten her point.

"And don't get me started at how she only ever talks about you," Tzuyu laughs softly at the numerous memories coming across her mind, "Momo unnie is already complaining that she feels like she's girlfriends with you, too, since Jeongyeon unnie never shuts up about the things you like and don't,"

Mina giggled at what Tzuyu has shared, but disbelief can still be traced, "I'm sure that's not true,"

Tzuyu shook her head with smug, "Ask anybody on the team what's the flavor of your favorite bagel chips and they'll tell you it's,"

"Choco Cinnamon," they said in unison, further proving Tzuyu's argument.

"Of course you know that, we live together,"

"I'm not sure if we still do, unnie, I don't even have clothes here anymore," she jokingly says.

They shared a knowing laugh, it's no secret that she and the captain switch dorms more than the agreed thrice a week, to the point that Tzuyu even does her laundry over at Chaeyoung's.

When that subsided, Tzuyu reached for Mina's hands and gave it a reassuring squeeze, "My point is, Jeongyeon unnie is crazy about you,"

"I don't expect you to see that, since all you both do is be on each other's face all the time," Mina giggled at it, not because it's funny, but because it's true, "But ask anyone, and I mean anyone, and they'll tell you that Cap already fell for you, a long time ago."

Tzuyu wasn't sure if she said the right thing, given that her unnie is jutting her lower lip and her eyes are shining as if she's about to cry— but it's merely her observation, along with everyone else's.

"If you've got it bad, trust me," she smiles, dimples boring her cheeks, gaze brimming with sincerity, "Jeongyeon unnie's got it worse,"

Mina only looked at her, and although the worry has lessened, it's still there, "If unnie hasn't said the three words yet, maybe it's because she's scared, or maybe she doesn't know it yet," Tzuyu laughs, "It took her eight months last time, we wouldn't be surprised if she takes the same time with you,"

She noticed that Mina still looks unconvinced, and tried to affirm further, "Don't worry about falling, she's already there with you."

Was assurance something Mina needed? Certainly not when she's trying to contain her feelings for Jeongyeon.

But did it have an effect on her? Of course. Because now, she thinks, maybe, even for a tiny bit, she and Jeongyeon can happen.

Maybe, with the littlest of chances, Tzuyu is right. That they both fell, Jeongyeon is just too oblivious to realize it yet.

-

Lunches are late breakfasts.

At least, that's what Jeongyeon keeps on telling Mina when she ordered an All-American breakfast at 2PM.

"Breakfast ends when AM becomes noon, then it's called lunch. Now it's late lunch, not late breakfast." Mina explains her point as she and Jeongyeon watch the other guests of the restaurant.

Jeongyeon faintly scoffed in disagreement. At the sound, Mina faced her with a slight frown. "I woke up just a few hours ago, it's my first meal, so it's a brekkie," Jeongyeon used a slang Mina was sure she got from a show they recently watched.

Well, okay, she kind of has a point.

Their argument couldn't go any further as the waiter placed their respective orders in front of them. Mina with the lonely and dry club sandwich (which definitely didn't look anything like in the picture) and Jeongyeon with the enticing and mouthwatering plate of breakfast.

Jeongyeon's eyes shone with how her food looked hot and tasty, "Itadakimasu!"

Mina chuckles at how charming Jeongyeon's Japanese has gotten. She easily picks up the words she teaches her and it's becoming more and more adorable to Mina. She couldn't wait till they move to phrases soon, where it's going to be a little harder, but she's sure it's going to be cuter.

If you're still with her by that time.

A mood souring thought has passed, but Mina didn't let it linger. In contrast to Jeongyeon's enthusiasm, she softly echoes, "Itadakimasu," and started to eat as well.

Mina only finished half of her sandwich and started to pick off some of Jeongyeon's bacon after she got a nod from the Korean. How forceful the nod was doesn't matter, because Mina disarmed her using one of Jeongyeon's own trademark tactics, the puppy eyes, to get her way.

Only when almost all of her bacon is gone Jeongyeon whined, "Ah, Mina-ya! You're eating on my plate!"

Caught, Mina resorts to her very rare, personalized, Jeongyeon-tailored pleading face— a look that's reserved for when the namesake gets pouty and whiny at the little things she does.

"The sandwich is dry," she says quietly, not wanting for anyone to hear, before placing her fork down at the table.

Frowning, Jeongyeon reached for Mina's bread and took a bite of it, "It tastes fine?"

"You can have it," Mina says plainly.

"Then, what will you eat?"

Mina lifted her iced Americano and showed it to Jeongyeon, "That's not food,"

With a shake of her head, Jeongyeon switched their plates, "Eat mine,"

Mina beamed to say the least, her smile wide, "Thank you, Yeonie,"

Jeongyeon only groaned before rolling her eyes, and to show thanks, Mina stuck a little of her tongue out along with her mischievousness.

Mina happily ate yet another stolen order and Jeongyeon could fake every frown, every protest, but she knows she'll give in to whatever Mina pleases, be it an overnight marathon of her superhero movies or a portion of her breakfast.

But what if she leaves you?

The thought that haunted her the first thing upon waking up came back, and it's making Jeongyeon nervous.

What if she leaves me tomorrow? What if this is her goodbye date...

She tried to dismiss it, decided that it's something they should talk about later when they get home.

They've almost finished their drinks when Mina spoke, "I’ve never watched it,"

"Never watched what?" Jeongyeon quizzes as she drank the last of her coffee.

"Avengers,"

"What?!" Jeongyeon almost sputtered and Mina was quick to offer a napkin, in case the former needed it.

"What?" Jeongyeon asked again, calmer this time.

Mina leaned back to her seat, crossed her arms, and watched the bustle of the people around, "We watched something else,"

"Why?!" Jeongyeon exclaimed once more. Mina couldn't make out if it's out of excitement or out of incredulity.

Nevertheless, she looked at her with a straight face, "Because that's our date,"

Jeongyeon seemed to enjoy the revelation as she scrunched her nose in a way she always does, and before she can even utter anything that will probably ruin the moment, Mina raced her to it; only, her eyes danced with smug.

"You're my Endgame, remember?"

Jeongyeon's smile could blind anyone with how wide it is, it's infectious enough for Mina to smile as gleamingly and to lose all the coolness she tried to portray.

"Come on, then!" Jeongyeon abruptly stood, almost knocking her chair over before offering a hand to the woman before her with an unwavering grin.

"Where to?" Mina took it with grace, as always, but now it's partnered with mischief.

"Cinemas!"

Before she even knew, Jeongyeon is already pulling her towards the exit and onto the floor where the theaters are.

-

The other floors of the mall told you it was just another normal day, but if you dare come another level up, rush and chaos shall welcome you.

"No way..." Jeongyeon muttered under her breath.

If the massive amount of people trying to get their tickets doesn't intimidate you, their mixed frustrated and excited grunts might do. People, some in costumes, flock and chat and laugh and whine, all at the same time. Everything is loud, everyone is exhilarated.

Jeongyeon looked beside her, she knows Mina doesn't like the crowds too much, and saw that she was as dumbfounded as she was. Probably overwhelmed, with the sea of Avenger's fans all at the same place.

"Too much?" she regards her.

Mina looked at her, eyes shining brightly as ever, "Look at Iron Man there!" she points at a cosplayer that had put it in so much effort to make a replica of Iron Man's suit, pulling Jeongyeon to have a closer look.

I guess there's no 'too much' when it's about her favorites.

Jeongyeon only chuckled as she let Mina lead them towards where Tony Stark is showing off his suit.

Mina's grin could split her face, and Jeongyeon is only too happy to be here with her. She took out her phone and snapped some candids of Mina basically fangirling over this hero.

Jeongyeon cooed at how adorable the photo came out and contemplated if she can replace her lockscreen that is Mina's selfie at the hotel, but she'll deal with that later as an idea popped on her mind, "Mr. Stark! Can my girl take a picture with you?"

Mina whipped her head quickly, her expression unreadable to Jeongyeon as she pushed her a little when the cosplayer nodded their way.

It's quickly forgotten though as Mina posed beside the famous superhero with much excitement. Once done, Jeongyeon ran to them and outstretched her arm up for a groufie, "And one with me, cheese!"

They thanked him and Mina couldn’t be any happier when Jeongyeon showed her their photos, “Send me everything later!” she beams at the girl beside her who only nods and smiles.

As Jeongyeon lifts her view, she was instantly reminded that they are yet to get tickets, and will probably take them forever with how long the lines are already.

She chewed on her lower lip, thinking. Didn’t Seulgi said she worked part time on cinemas?

“Jeong?” Mina slightly tugs at her sleeves, trying to get her to move. “I think we should get in line if we want to watch it today?”

But Jeongyeon had other ideas in mind and pulled Mina by the hand towards the booth. Though question was obvious on her face, Mina followed suit.

Jeongyeon was trying to contact someone, that part Mina was sure of. Contact who, that she doesn’t know.

“Seul?” Jeongyeon held Mina's hand tightly, protectively, so they won’t be separated amidst the frenzy, while she tries to sort things through a phone call, “Are you working today?”

Mina can tell the response Jeongyeon got was to her favor because she looked her way and smiled, switched her hold from her hand to her waist, “Think you can sneak me and Mina in?”

Not another moment, Jeongyeon pocketed her phone, still grinning from ear to ear, “We’re clear.”

“Clear?” Mina reiterated.

“I got us passes,” But how?

Jeongyeon reads her face and answers the unspoken, “We don’t have to stand for hours at the back anymore. Kang works here, so…” Her teammate? The Korean only smirked and pulled her closer as the crowd thicken.

With lines as long as the day, Jeongyeon knew seeing the show would be impossible, given that it's the weekend and it's overly popular with fans.

Mission not impossible when you know someone who works in the ticket booth, though.

-

“Cap!” Seulgi waves at them just outside the door of the cashier.

Jeongyeon rushed both of them to the back, finally meeting their would be savior, “So, any chance?”

Seulgi nods, fishing the cards from her pockets, “This is mine and RJ’s passes since we work here,” she hands her some sort of official ID’s with the cinema’s logo, “I’ll slip you both past the grumpy security, then you’re good since I’m friends with the staff who seats the people inside.”

Jeongyeon cheered and patted her head, “Thank you, Seulbear! I really owe you a lot on this one!”

“Don’t mention it,” giving a thumbs up to her captain before striding back to select seats in the system. “Hey, RJ,” she called for the other girl who was busy assisting the moviegoers.

“Yep?” she looks over her shoulder while printing out tickets, “Man the station for a while. Make sure Boss Bae doesn’t fin—“

A woman, whom Jeongyeon found beautiful but intimidating, walked past them without so much of an acknowledgement to neither her nor Mina, looked directly at the backs of her employees, “What does RJ need to make sure, hmm, Kang Seulgi?”

Both got startled upon hearing a familiar voice and turned to see its source, “Hyu— Sunbaenim!” Seulgi stutters, nervousness taking her ability to form coherent words, “I was just asking RJ to make s-sure,”

Jeongyeon wanted to snicker at the train wreck that is Seulgi talking to her boss but thankfully held it in. After all, she’s risking her neck to help her.

“If we got t-the Avengers started on time…?”

Boss Bae remained stoic, but gave a nod to RJ as a go ahead. Both Seulgi and RJ knew it wasn’t really the reason but that’s a secret they both have to hold, so the latter bowed and excused herself, silently gesturing for Mina and Jeongyeon to follow.

Mina couldn’t help but worry about what will become of Seulgi after that encounter, “Will she be okay?”

As they turn a corner, just a few meters away from the entrance of the theatre, RJ smiles lopsidedly, her eyes twinkle the same way as Jeongyeon’s and Mina thought of something.

“Boss Bae wouldn’t do anything to unnie, she’s her favorite,”

“Explains the guts, then,” Jeongyeon says, donning the same wry grin.

Unable to hold her curiousness, Mina asks, “RJ, are you sure you’re not related to this woman?” she pointed a thumb at Jeongyeon beside her.

“Why would you ask her that?!” Jeongyeon interjects, confused as to how they got to this topic. The seemingly younger girl only chuckled, “I’m not sure, unnie. I don’t even know your names.”

“Sorry,” Mina held out a hand, “I’m Myoui Mina. This purple haired dork is Yoo Jeong-ass.”

“Nice to meet you unnies,” RJ took it, snickering at the pout the tallest among them had while being introduced, “I guess we’re not, judging by our last names.” She shook Jeongyeon’s as well, amused at the two women she’s with right now, “Shin Ryujin,”

“I guess not,” Mina pouts a little as she pondered at their similarities, but then got excited a minute later when she saw that they’re almost at the entrance.

Ryujin thought slipping past security would be a challenge, since the men who had always managed the queue were always bad-tempered; but today, it was their co-part-timer who’s keeping watch. “Light Fury!”

The other girl only rolled her eyes, “What do you want, Shin? I’m busy.”

“Seulgi-unnie’s.” RJ gestured to the women behind her with a grin.

Both Mina and Jeongyeon bowed slightly, to which the other girl got startled to and bowed a little deeper in return, realizing her colleague wasn’t alone.

“Hello, please enjoy the movie!” the girl recovers and retains professionalism, even smiled congenially as she let the guests inside.

The couple thanked the girls for their help before entering the facility hand in hand, all giddy and excited.

Finally!

-

Finale.

Every single one of the moviegoers had red puffy eyes when they finished the whole of the masterpiece, knew it was the best ending anyone could have hoped for.

Needless to say, the whole cinema broke into tears.

Jeongyeon, who was only roped into this arc by the woman by her side just a few months ago, was sobbing worse than Mina, even hid her face behind her hands.

Despite her own tears, Mina managed to sound out a chuckle as she hugged Jeongyeon, “Do you regret watching my Marvel movies?”

Jeongyeon shook her head, merely leaned  to hug Mina back, “It was awesome and sad and beautiful,”

Mina ran her hands over her back in an attempt to soothe her. Who knew Jeong-ass would be this emotional for a movie she said she didn’t like when they first met? “Will you be okay?”

Jeongyeon breaks off the embrace, wiping her tears with the back of her hand, “Yeah,”

“Then let’s get you out of here and find some ice cream.”

-

A few scoops and a number of sniffles along with a recap of the movie later, Jeongyeon is as good as new.

They’re now at an arcade, where Mina is currently cheering for Jeongyeon who’s going as fast as she can in basketball, “You’ve almost beaten the high score!” Mina claps and jumps behind an already sweaty but very determined Jeongyeon, “Go, go, go!”

It’s Jeongyeon’s fifth attempt into breaking the 268 high score, it’s also her fifth failure as the last shots she’s thrown didn’t went in— locking her score to only 210.

She’s heard the buzzer five times, and all of it signaled that her five minutes to top the current highest has ended. She’s slotted both her hands on her hips, catching her breath while staring at the scoreboard.

She has been going at it for almost 30 minutes with little breaks in between, but she can’t seem to get past the 250 threshold.

Mina placed a hand on her lower back, “You’ll beat it next time,” reassuring her with a smile.

“Yeah,” she replies, lowering her voice a few tones, “We’ll get em next time.”

Mina could only let out a weak chortle, mildly amused at Jeongyeon’s attempt to use a Call of Duty reference.

Jeongyeon duck down to get the tickets she’s won from the machine, folded them by fours, before shoving it at her back pocket, “Do you know how to play Tekken?”

Mina scoffed as they walked towards the rows of game machines with different titles, most of it for two players, “You’re not beating me on Tekken, Jeongyeon.”

Jeongyeon merely raised a brow, a smirk playing along her lips, “Oh, we’ll see about that. Sit down,”

They’ve dropped two tokens in and chose their characters. Mina chose Jin, while Jeongyeon chose Law.

Round 1. Fight!

Mina did not waste any chances and took the offense. Jeongyeon has to admit that Mina knows her character’s combos well.

It was going great for Mina, to the point that she’s already won one round, but something doesn’t feel right.

Jeongyeon is not complaining about it. “You’re losing, why are you still smiling?”

Round 2. Fight!

Jeongyeon rushed and jumped, eventually leading to a backflip. Mina’s character couldn’t do anything as he was taking damage midair. She didn’t stop doing the same attack until she’s drained all the life out of Jin, “Ya! You’re cheating!”

The Korean only guffawed, “How is that cheating? I’ve fought fair and square!”

Mina smacked her arm, pout already on display, “You didn’t even let Jin set his foot on the ground, that’s cheating!”

“No, it’s not. That’s a perfectly legal move!” Jeongyeon shields herself from the incoming hits while laughing, it really doesn’t take much to rile Mina up.

They’ve played a few more rounds, Mina insisting that they play other characters each, to avoid being cheated on, but Jeongyeon seemed to have already mastered the art of annoying Myoui Mina, that it doesn’t even matter who she chooses. The result is always the same thing.

You win!

“I hate you,” Mina stood up and went to a Resident Evil aim and shoot machine, inserting two coins before picking up a laser gun. Jeongyeon joined her a few seconds later, “You are a sore loser, Myoui,”

Mina only looked at the smug Jeongyeon beside her, “I wouldn’t be if you only played fair. You’re purposely doing the same two moves that no one can block!”

Jeongyeon snorted yet again with laughter, she knows what she did, and she’s not regretting anything.

She stepped closer to a displeased Mina and pinched a good amount of her cheek, earning her a whine and a few protesting stomps, “You’re so cute when you’re mad.” Jeongyeon grins before leaning down to place a kiss on the other’s lips.

Start!

Jeongyeon leaned back, eyes glimmering with playfulness before focusing at the screen in front of her.

You’re lucky you’re cute, I couldn’t stay mad. Mina shook her head, realizing how one kiss from Jeongyeon can literally take away all exasperation off of her.

The game begun and after shooting numerous hordes of zombies (some flying, some are gigantic), Mina’s frustration earlier seemed to already have been forgotten as she laughs at Jeongyeon being startled at almost each turn. She obviously enjoys saving Jeongyeon’s character whenever the other gets jumped by a sneak attack.

It took them a whole lot of tokens just to revive and continue playing, but they’ve eventually given up, starting to get fed up with all the same gameplay.

Jeongyeon reached around her pockets for any more tokens, “Last two,” she turned her palm up, showing her what’s left from their 50 tokens, “Do you still wanna play?”

Mina looked around. We’ve played almost every game, so she declined and only took one, but Jeongyeon gave her both, “Use it. I’m just going to exchange the tickets for some sort of prize at the counter,”

Mina nodded and circled the arcade, there’s nothing interesting enough to play anymore, she thought, until she saw a shiny claw machine.

As she neared, she let out a silent gasp. Tim!

Rows of Tim Bear keychains from the movie Minions were sitting, waiting; a certain prize Mina would be very happy to get.

She excitedly inserted a coin, determined to get the cute plushie with the last of her tokens.

Meanwhile, Jeongyeon was at the counter, staring at the toys that hung on the wall. There’s a lot of teddy bears around here.

But Jeongyeon has her mind set to something ancient, “Can my tickets get those big dinosaurs?”

“That’s gonna take you 200,000 tickets,” the staff replied, to which Jeongyeon frowned upon. That’s too much!

The staff sensed her disapproval and tried to offer a different deal, “You can get that bear backpack if you beat our basketball high score, if that interests you?” he gestured to the direction of a bear whose eyes were literally just buttons and a tongue cutely peeking out at the corner of it’s mouth, just below it’s nose.

Jeongyeon nodded along, but in the back of her mind, she knows that bear wouldn’t have any owner any time soon. The high score is just too high. “I’ll keep the tickets for now. Thanks for the info, anyway,”

She made her way back to Mina and caught her staring at a claw machine, “Did you get one?”

As soon as Mina heard her, her lip stuck out, disappointed, “No,”

Jeongyeon chuckled and didn’t resist the urge to envelop Mina onto a bear hug, just like the tiny keychain that’s supposed to be the prize, “Is it bears over penguins now?”

“It’s Tim,” Mina whines softly, and Jeongyeon could see in her eyes that she really wanted to win it, “Bob’s?” she inquires further as she follows her line of sight.

Just as Mina nodded to confirm, Jeongyeon was suddenly hit with a realization. She lifted her head and looked back to where she was just a few minutes ago. Even from afar, she can see that the bear backpack from the counter and this bear keychain are the same.

Damn.

An idea popped out, but she wasn’t sure if she’ll be able to accomplish this one today, “Let’s go home,”

-

As they rode the elevator down to the basement, Mina couldn’t help but notice Jeongyeon’s fidgeting. Her thumb keeps on fiddling over their entwined hands, “Yeonie, are you okay?”

The Korean only offered a small smile, “Yeah.” obviously unaware that she’s tapping her thumb a little faster as they descend, “Why wouldn’t I be?”

Mina wanted to ask more, but the doors opened, revealing that they’re already on the parking lot. Jeongyeon’s strides seemed too quick and wide, Mina had to hasten her usual pace.

What are we rushing for?

When they got to where she has parked, Mina went to her side, while the other started the engine. It was a bit weird that Jeongyeon didn’t bother to open the door for her, but that’s the least of the things she’s worried about right now. She’s acting like she’s hesitant, like she’s torn, and Mina wants to know what’s going on. She reached out to cradle her face, asking silently.

It was only answered with yet another small of a smile, but this time, it isn’t laden with hesitations. “Can I leave you here for a while? I forgot to buy something,”

“So that’s why you’re fidgety,” Mina chuckled lightly, “Come on, I’ll come with,” she announces as she turn to open her door.

Jeongyeon lunges to stop Mina from unlocking it, “No!” her arms outstretched, pulling the door close.

“What—“ Mina was both shocked and confused at Jeongyeon’s reactions.

“I— sorry,” Jeongyeon leaned back sheepishly. Mina tried to read her, but she didn’t get any more chances as Jeongyeon opened her door in a rush as soon as she took a glance at her watch, “I’ll be quick. Sorry!”

“What just happened?” she murmured to herself as she watched Jeongyeon run across the lot.

When she disappeared from sight, an idea dawned on Mina. The thought alone put on an immediate grin on her face; the results, probably even more so.

In a jiffy, she turned the engine off and got off the car. Just like Jeongyeon, she ran back to the mall. The only difference is she’s rushing with two missions on mind. One: arrive before Jeongyeon. Two: don’t get caught.

-

It took her countless tries, numerous grunts out of frustration, and tokens that she would rather not sum up; but she did it.

Jeongyeon stares at Tim with a grin. Mina will be happy to see you.

She is once again in an elevator, descending to the basement where she has parked her car. She’s still a bit sweaty, given the effort she has put for this plushie, but what’s a little exercise and literally a few roars of exasperation at the basket when the reward waiting in the end is Mina’s heart fluttering gummy smile?

Maybe a few kisses, too?

Jeongyeon chuckled to herself. Were kisses always had been her lifeline?

Mina had definitely worsen my case on this one.

The lift came to a halt, and Jeongyeon let herself out, wearing Tim on her back for now so as not to let him be seen the soonest she comes to Mina’s line of sight.

As she neared her car, she noticed that the engine wasn’t running and no one is inside.

The hell?

She leaned in to the windows, pressing the side of her palms and peeking through its tint to make sure, but Mina isn’t there.

Bewildered, she held her phone to her ear to call for Mina. It only kept on ringing, kept being sent to voicemail. Where are you?

Seeing that she won’t get any replies either even if she texted, she decided that it’s best to just leave a message and wait for her to call back.

She wasn’t able to finish the voicemail as her eyes caught Mina rushing towards, carrying a box and a plastic bag.

It wasn’t long until Mina got to where Jeongyeon is. Her chest heaved a little as she draw in breath through her mouth, “Hi,”

“Hi,” Jeongyeon greeted her back, but then had a frown, “What are those?”

Mina lifted both of her hands with a grin, “It both starts with a C,”

By the look of the box alone, Jeongyeon already knew, inserting another joke, “Chizza?”

Mina laughed at her, “Better,” she handed Jeongyeon the squared carton and read, “Chicago Deep Dish,”

So Mina has failed one of her missions as she didn’t arrive before Jeongyeon’s back, but the results she was hoping to get surpassed her expectations.

Jeongyeon is beaming, her eyes literally sparkle, and if you even listen closely, you can hear the soft sounds she’s making, probably out of appreciation, “You remembered,” she pouts as she stared at the box.

All the running and rushing and waiting were worth it.

“Of course,” Mina knew this is what Jeongyeon is crazy about these days, “It’s hard to forget if you always talk about it,” she kids, to which Jeongyeon only laughed at; not bothering to deny that one.

“Let’s go home so we can eat your pizza,” Mina unlocked the car and took the box from Jeongyeon, before showing her the other bag on her hand, “Coffee,” picked one up for proof as soon as she set everything down, “The espresso roast ones,”

“You’re getting good at surprises,” Jeongyeon smirks, “Not as good as me, though,”

Mina cocked a brow as she pushed the door close, “Oh?”

Her smirk grows as she lessen their proximity, “Close your eyes,”

Mina does as she was told, albeit the suspicion. She confirmed it when she felt their lips connect, as it danced in the most familiar way.

To Mina, it felt as if it were months since they’ve shared something like this. It may even be the last.

You’ll be leaving soon. If this is the agony I feel just from a few days of you being away…

To Jeongyeon, it felt as if it is a confirmation, of what this girl means to her, of how much she meant what she said. But there’s also a doubt.

What if I’ve read wrong again? What if Mina doesn’t really want me? What if she leaves as soon as she knows my heart?

It was the briefest kiss out of all, but it’s easily the one that they’ll think about all night when they get home. Jeongyeon wanted more, Mina wanted more. It’s unfortunate that neither of them let the other knew, shameful even.

“You call that a surprise?” Mina jests, “I knew you’d kiss me,”

“That’s Surprise 1, and I know it’s going to fail,” she reached back, removing the straps from her shoulders one by one, “So I have a backup,”

Jeongyeon quickly reveals the Tim Plush Backpack. Mina squealed as soon as she laid eyes on the bear, “Tim!”

Of course, Jeongyeon gave it to her, happily and just as excited. Seeing Mina this happy is one of the best things that can happen in her day.

All the soreness and tokens and effort were worth it.

Mina giddily hugged the bag to herself, doesn’t care if she’s already in her early 20’s to be this excited for a plushie. Tim!

She saw Jeongyeon’s eye smile and couldn’t help herself. She held her flush against, embracing her, eyes glowing with joy, “Thank you, Yeonie,”

Jeongyeon hummed, “Anything for you,” she murmurs as she wrap her arms around Mina, “But I’m the one who should be thanking you,”

Mina leans back, confused, “For the pizza?”

Jeongyeon shakes her head, dropping a light kiss to her cheek, her voice quiet, “For letting me be your endgame date,” and another on the mole on her nose.

Mina knew the playful Jeongyeon is gone. She’s handling her with utter softness, and Mina might never admit, but it’s absolutely one of her many Jeongyeon-related weaknesses.

“Did you really think I’d watch it with Nayeon?”

She searched her eyes, but Jeongyeon doesn’t let her. Only gave her silence; an admittance.

Mina leaned to hug her more, hiding her face on the crevice of her neck, “Dummy,” she says, which made Jeongyeon frown in return, “I’d rather watch it alone if I'm not seeing it with you.”

Jeongyeon scoffed and rolled her eyes, but Mina can hear the little of her laugh, so she pulls back— gambling, wishing, that Jeongyeon gets what she means this time.

“You're the only endgame I want, Yoo Jeongyeon, no one else.“

-

The drive home was relatively silent, but it was far from being uncomfortable— it was rather filled with bubbling elation.

Both sides wore an infectious grin, neither expected the day to turn into a time they’d enjoy; a stark contrast to the horrible morning they woke up to.

Jeongyeon turns at the last corner and was greeted by a red in the stoplight. As they wait, she slightly turned to Mina with a fond smile.

Mina caught sight of it and met her with a question, “What?”

She merely shook her head and looked ahead, “Maybe this could be our second date,”

“What do you mean?” Although amused, it’s not clear to her what Jeongyeon was trying to say, “We go out every day,” she giggles lightly.

Dismayed, Jeongyeon’s mouth only formed a thin line. Mina took notice and frowned, bemused. Jeongyeon can be very confusing sometimes. She’d ask her further but the light turned green and they’ve already moved.

Jeongyeon maneuvered to park inside the university’s parking space with ease. Mina would’ve gotten off the car the moment its engine turned off, but the Korean isn’t moving. Is something wrong?

“Jeong?”

Jeongyeon remained her hands on the wheel, thumb stroking its leather cover, “Mina,”

She hummed, acknowledging, urging Jeongyeon to continue.

But still, she hesitates.

“What if I told you it’s okay?”

Uncertain of what the other meant, she reiterates, “It’s okay to what?”

She paused, Mina can tell her reluctance to proceed, but she waits.

Only to be surprised when Jeongyeon finally met her gaze, “That it’s okay to fall.”

Mina was taken aback at what she had to say. Her heart raced, her face void of color. She was horrified. Surely, Jeongyeon didn’t hear any of what she confessed last night?

She was drunk. Couldn’t even change her clothes and went straight to sleep. That’s impossible.

Panicked, Mina couldn’t utter a word nor even think straight. All she hears is the pounding of her heart in her ears. No way, no way.

Jeongyeon stares at a greatly stunned woman. One whom she thinks would not admit to anything she’s said last night— one whose next words could either make or break her.

Despite flashbacks of hurt and rejection from the past, she gathered all the courage she could. It could be now or never.

Letting Mina go without really knowing what they both felt for each other would be the single most stupid thing she could ever do.

Jeongyeon gazed at her with pure sincerity, Mina couldn't mistake it as anything else, "What if I'm really falling for you, Myoui?”

Every thought melted away, every panicked heartbeat slowed— is she finally going to…?

“What if I really want to date you? What if I really want you to be mine?"

Her vision almost to a blur, almost to a haze. Are you playing with my heart again?

Doubts resurfaced, but her walls are starting to crumble down. How can it not, when Jeongyeon looks at you like you are the only one that matters? How can you keep your guard up when all that she conveys, in both her eyes and what she has to say, are warmth and adoration?

Time stood still. Nothing else seemed to be of any significance in this instant. It’s as if they’re both gruesomely waiting for something, someone to say anything.

Jeongyeon doesn’t know what she hopes to hear. She’s preparing for the worst, and yet she wants Mina to tell her that what she said last night were all true. That she didn’t dream any of it and she’s really falling for her.

Mina doesn’t know what Jeongyeon hopes to hear. She’s already thinking of the worst; how she is probably only playing with her and is only trying to catch her red handed— and yet she wants Jeongyeon to know that what she said last night were all true.

"Then do it," Mina finally speaks, heart already on her throat.

“I’ve already fallen for you, anyway,”

-

Jeongyeon was dumbfounded when Mina left her in the car after what she just revealed. She still very much is when she got up in the dorm and Mina is acting like nothing happened.

What the fuck was that? Is she trying to play with me?

They ate, (Mina did, not Jeongyeon who couldn’t stop staring at blank spaces) like how they usually do, they drank, talked (Mina did, while Jeongyeon was still processing everything), and even set up a movie while they lazily sat on the couch.

Somehow, Mina seemed to manage not to breakdown with how Jeongyeon is taking it, while the latter seemed to have lost it with the confession she received from the Japanese.

That can’t be true, right? What if she’s pranking me? Getting me back for all those I did to her?

Jeongyeon couldn’t really focus up, couldn’t even gather her thoughts in one place. Her mind already sabotaging itself by formulating all the worst possible outcomes if she does take this seriously.

How can I even confirm if she’s serious or not? Those are just what if’s! She didn’t even ask me what I really feel! Just went out of the car and—

Her trail of thoughts were cut off when Mina draped an arm over her chest down to her waist, her head resting on her shoulder, “Do you want to sleep beside me later?”

“Are you sure?” Jeongyeon gulped upon hearing the offer. Nothing wrong with it, she supposes, but that thought certainly put her mind on a different track. It didn’t help when Mina ran her hand all over her waist, fingertips doing random patterns. All Jeongyeon knows is that it isn’t helping her calm what’s starting to wake. “Yeah, it’s cool. You’re safe.”

“Safe?” Jeongyeon peered at her.

Mina lifts her head, eyes nonchalant, but voice hinted tease, “You’re not dangerous,”

Jeongyeon grimaced and pulled back, somewhat offended, “And you are?!”

Mina smiled, alluringly. Her eyes bewitchingly held Jeongyeon’s irritated ones as she moved her palm purposely slow over her chest, until her fingers clasp both of the Korean’s cheeks. She pulled their lips close to whisper, “You know I am.”

Jeongyeon had to clench her jaw just to keep herself from pouncing on Mina. She’s deeply frustrated and confused, and this woman does nothing to help; in fact, she’s worsening her exasperation.

Mina relinquishes her hold and disentangles from Jeongyeon. Sitting properly before returning her attention to the screen, “Now, which drama should we watch?”

Jeongyeon bit her lip and balled her fists. Trying to contain the overwhelming feeling of annoyance. Myoui Mina!

-

Despite being aggravated for numerous times, Jeongyeon stays.

She’s still annoyed at how Mina acts as if she meant one thing and then does nothing after, at how she says things that otherwise meant what she thought, but then goes on without so much of an explanation. It bothers her as much as it confuses her— but she stays.

Laying sideways, they managed to fit themselves on the couch, with Mina using her arm as a pillow. She glared at the screen that showed a Netflix series Mina picked earlier, and although she attempts to contain her growing impatience, it may take her a few episodes more before actually getting the right timing.

I have to know.

As if not troubled with the mood the Korean is in right now, Mina turns and tucks herself under Jeongyeon’s chin, hugging her.

Jeongyeon frowns upon it, but still placed an arm around her waist. She knows she’s still mad, and Mina knows exactly how to woo her back, but given the confession and her own mess of feelings, there needs to be clarity. It shouldn’t just be hidden in the back again, and she senses that this is Mina’s intent once she gives in and they’ve all made up.

“Someone is clingy.” Jeongyeon says lowly, letting Mina know that she’s resisting, and won’t be easily swayed this time.

Mina remained silent, fingertips playing with the hem of the other’s shirt. It didn’t take long before it slipped inside, feeling Jeongyeon’s skin.

And touchy. She gulps. She knows Mina likes to tease, especially so today, but there are more important matters to think and talk about, “Where are those hands going?”

Mina didn’t relent, only went farther, closer. “Up your shirt?”

True to her words, she went higher, exploring the expanse of her heated skin. When the touch lingered somewhere it shouldn’t be, Jeongyeon clenched her jaws, “What are you doing?”

Mina leans up, nipping the soft skin of her neck, tracing light kisses to her ear— wordlessly demanding all her attention.

“What do you think am I doing?” she husks sinfully against her, sending tingles down her spine.

With the amount of uncertainties and rousing desire, Jeongyeon is more confused than ever. She frustratingly wants answers, but she infuriatingly wants Mina more.

An intrusive heat starts to bloom within her— a wildfire that’s spread across. It’s a feeling she isn’t a stranger to; it’s one that’s slept through time, but one that Mina threatens to wake far too often.

Nimble fingers had already undone the first few buttons of Jeongyeon’s shirt, and even when all rational thoughts are melting, she wanted to ask, “Are you sure?”

Senses gone, Mina moves up to clutch the other’s face. “Yes.” She brushes her lips against hers, breathing a tempting whisper, “I want you, Yoo Jeongyeon.”

Hearing another confession, it suddenly struck Jeongyeon. Her need for clarity came crashing down— and it’s now all she can think about.

She closed the distance between them harshly, almost maddened. She’s immediately reminded of all the frustrations, all the confusions this woman has bestowed upon her in just a matter of time.

Jeongyeon pulled herself up to hover over Mina; pinning her wrists, taking her control away. Tension crackles between them as their gaze burned into each other’s, “You’re one confusing woman, did you know that?”

Mina squirms beneath her, fighting through her hold, but Jeongyeon only tightens it, “You tell me to go after my ex, you push me away and when I’m out cold you tell me things I’d rather hear when I’m awake?”

She knows Mina didn’t mean for her to hear what she’s heard last night, and that’s what makes her even more disappointed. Didn’t she care about me or what my answer would be?

“And then out of nowhere you confess! You never even asked what I feel!” She growls, unable to mask her exasperation.

“Are you always this selfish?”

If she hadn’t heard it, will Mina keep it all to herself?

"Don’t I get a say to this? Aren't you gonna ask what I want?"

Words are somehow failing Mina, what with all the shallow breaths from struggling and anticipation, but she manages, “What do you want, then?”

Jeongyeon’s eyes were as dark as much as it was ablaze. They gleamed with desire, they burned and screamed with want. It’s a trap Mina will never want to escape from.

“You.”

Oh, fuck.

Their eyes a mere mirror of each other’s, Mina has broken free from Jeongyeon’s tight grasp. She pushed her to sit, only to straddle her and greedily capture her lips— swift fingers worked their way through the last of Jeongyeon’s shirt, pushing it off her shoulders as her hands roam, searching for new territories to conquer.

Jeongyeon draws back, pulling Mina’s shirt off, eager to see and feel all of her. Been wanting to for weeks, months— she doesn’t know how long since; all she knows is it’s happening. Right here, right now.

But she’s desperate for more. She craves for more.

Heat ripples through, and neither can deny any longer. They do want each other.

“God, Mina,” Jeongyeon gasps, but Mina only ever allowed a few moments before she catches her with another deep kiss.

Mina could only answer with a breathy moan when Jeongyeon tauntingly framed a nub between her fingers, as the other hand glided to the inside of her thigh, close to where she terribly want her.

The world is spiraling— with desire consuming every last bit of their being. Are they at the point of no return? Maybe so.

Seeing Mina ache for her touch only worsened everything. Jeongyeon wants to see her come undone— to be her rock as well as her only ruin, to be her only one.

Jeongyeon doesn’t care for much anymore. She only ever needs Mina.

“Do you have any idea how much I want you?” Jeongyeon tries to reveal just how much, but does she still have to? Perhaps the lack of clothing, messed up frustrations, childish jealousy, countless display of playful (but not really) possessiveness, and all the effort she’s done despite being in a fake relationship could tell Mina.

Mina pants against Jeongyeon’s neck, mind focused obviously somewhere else, “Shut up and take me to bed.”

-

The night is dark, rain raged outside— but Mina isn’t afraid nor cold. She never is whenever Jeongyeon is near.

Okay, maybe I’m a little cold.

The brisk blow of cool air woke Mina up. Her yellow light showing her just why. Jeongyeon was apparently hogging the duvet.

Mina squinted, eyeing Jeongyeon with a slight grunt, just to scoff and chuckle at the end. It’s sort of their fault since they slept with nothing on. But who even has energy to wear anything after all that? She guesses none.

She stared at Jeongyeon’s face, noticing how radiant she is even when asleep. Entranced, she lifts up a hand to run her fingers through her hair.

Has this become a habit now?

Once upon a time, Mina has never wanted anything that involved Jeongyeon. Never even dreamed of meeting someone as annoying as her. Now…

Now, there’s no use of being in denial.

They started this fake dating thing in hopes to get back their own exes. Sure, they broke numerous terms and rules from the contract, but those didn’t matter any longer due to a very slight, very minor, very teeny tiny change.

Mina is certain that she no longer wants to help Jeongyeon accomplish her end of the deal. Heck, she would even reject Nayeon in a heartbeat. But will Jeongyeon do the same?

None of these is fake for her anymore, she realizes. The longing, the wanting. How she doesn’t want Jeongyeon anywhere near Sana anymore, how she’ll choose Jeongyeon any day.

Everything she feels for this dumbass is real.

Something she’s been afraid of becoming true, because then, where will that leave her? If Jeongyeon decides that she still wants to go back to her ex, what will become of her?

Mina shrugged the doubt off. She has faith. Maybe Tzuyu is right, her Jeongyeon unnie is too slow and oblivious at times. I just have to trust her.

Mina lightly settles a hand on her neck, stroking the line of her jaw softly. She reminisces how everything went for the two of them the past few months.

It wasn’t a definite hate-hate relationship, since she only hated her guts and her everything irrationally before they even met, but mostly because Jeongyeon has been nothing but wonderful, save for all her annoyingness.

Mina giggled quietly at all the memories that filled her months with all these Jeongyeon antics, jokes, surprises. None of which she was prepared for, especially when the biggest surprise out of all was her falling for her supposed rival.

She would’ve laughed if a year ago someone told her she’d fall for the charms of the same baseball captain Nayeon has been obsessing over, but now, well… maybe fate likes to play a little.

Jeongyeon stirs, sighs at her sleep. Probably tired, maybe content, maybe even relieved. Nevertheless, Mina smiles. She couldn’t imagine how they got here.

When did everything change?

Not too far ago, Jeongyeon’s laugh was impossibly bearable— hateful even. How come it’s now easily one of her favorites?

Not too far ago, Jeongyeon’s hair was the dumbest shade of purple— How come it’s now the most beautiful?

Not too far ago, Jeongyeon’s eyes were a dull brown— too common, too usual. How come its now the most gentle, most adorable?

“I know I’m cute, pretty, beautiful, spectacular, magnificent, cute,” Jeongyeon says, eyes still closed but voice laced with playfulness, “but stop staring at me, man.”

Mina laughs, “I would’ve if you at least shared with me my blanket,”

Jeongyeon opens her eyes with a frown, inspecting. Only to find out that it was true, and Mina is left with literally nothing, “Oh my Go— why didn’t you say something!” She exclaims as she lifts up the duvet, inviting Mina in.

Of course, a giggling Mina scoots in close, hugging Jeongyeon in the process, as they let themselves get enveloped by each other’s warmth. “Now I know why you like being the small spoon,” Mina jokes.

“I like whichever spoon, for your information, Miss.” Jeongyeon rests an arm on the curve of her hips, soothing a thumb on the smooth of her skin. It traveled a little more south and stole a squeeze on Mina’s cheek, “But I can definitely see the benefits of being the big one,”

Mina playfully nudges Jeongyeon’s legs with hers, grumbling an almost real protest, “Pervert,”

Jeongyeon grins as she dips for a kiss, “Only with you, Myoui.”

-

The sun rose to a start as soon as it’s light shone through the windows. Traces of rain lingered, but the morning remained quiet.

Mina was already at their dining space, mindlessly leaning on the counter as she waited for the coffee to brew. It’s one of the little things she got when Jeongyeon decided to sleep on her dorm almost every night.

Her mind was adrift. She’s happy, there’s no doubt about it, but the last time she put her faith on someone, it only broke her heart.

Jeongyeon is different.

But what if she isn’t? What if she tells you that last night was nothing but a one night stand thing? What if she asks you to be her fake girlfriend with benefits?

She sighs as the coffee drips steadily. She’ll have to talk to Jeongyeon about this soon.

She wouldn’t have known that Jeongyeon is already awake if it weren’t for her arms that snaked around her waist, leaning in to affectionately kiss the side of her neck, “Good morning, baby,”

Mina took a pause before she turned to face her, hands resting just above Jeongyeon’s chest. “Were you serious?”

However, Jeongyeon looks clueless, again, “About what?”

“About…” Mina purses her lips, looks down to where her hands are.

“About?” Jeongyeon reiterates, tilts her head to try and catch her line of sight, curious.

Mina meets her, eyes pleading, anticipating hurt, “This. Us.”

“What about it?” What if it was all meaningless to her?

“Jeong, I don’t want an—“ she sighs, frustrated. She hasn’t entirely rehearsed any of this in her head, “Did you mean it? Do you really like—“

The pupils that stared before her dilated, and Mina can tell it was because it wasn’t exactly the word Jeongyeon used last night. Shit.

Flustered at how her words keep on failing her, she tries a save, “I mean, want me?”

Jeongyeon shakes her head slightly, eyes flickering to her mouth. And before Mina even knew it, they were already kissing.

Jeongyeon held her face; framing her lips in a gentle kiss. It was unlike anything of what they shared last night. There’s no vigor, no rush— none that’s fueled by lust.

Jeongyeon kissed her as if to convey how she feels, as if to erase all doubts, worries— ridding her of her fears.

“I need you, Mina,” she breathes, brushing her thumbs on her cheeks.

She ran her hand down, caressing her sides, “I need to see you everyday,”

It traveled further, sliding to her ass, pulling Mina flush against her, “I need to hold you,” capturing her lips for another, “Kiss you,”

“I don’t just want you,” before lifting Mina whose arms instantly wrapped around her neck, legs enclosed to her waist, “I need you to be mine, in any way I can,"

Mina’s heart could leap out any time soon. If that wasn’t Jeongyeon’s own version of a confession, she wouldn’t know what that is.

Jeongyeon took her lips once more as she carried her to bed, but Mina giggled into the kiss when she remembered, "The coffee's almost done brewing,"

"Fuck the coffee," Jeongyeon curses lowly, eyes now dark with want.

She tossed Mina back on the mattress, shuffled out of her shirt, and crawled on top— entwining their hands as she husked.

"Let me fuck you, instead."
