Flesh and Bone
Humans were bad, they were worse than scum or at least that was what the past hundreds were told after the war had begun between her kind; Fae Folk and the humans.
They had wanted freedom and equality from the tyranny of the fae who deemed them weak, honestly she never blamed them for wanting any of that. But now they were doing the same thing to them they had done to them, there was no such thing as equality in their eyes anymore.
Her kind used to be able to walk around without being needing to be hidden from the outside world. Their markings were proud showings of their power and status. Now? They were shamed for them, so they used glamour.
Her kind had purposed the idea of mating with them and creating harmony between the races but as soon as her elders spoke, it was outlawed by the humans.
It was a crime to even glance upon one of them with lust, her kind always listened to the law until- until Katsuki and Tsubaki met Hitoshi and Izuku.
Katsuki and Izuku met when they were children and knew nothing of the feud between their kinds. Katsuki would sneak out to play with him until his mother caught him and explained everything. Katsuki made a vow to ignore him and avoid the young male even though the other would never listen to stay away from the blond. Katsuki became Izuku’s protector.
Tsubaki met Hitoshi when she wondered the forest trying to collect herbs and plants for her gardens and kitchen. She hadn’t the clue that she had been watched from the minute she entered the forest. They were in their pre teens, both taught the dangers of mingling with the other but for some reason it never scared her or him to be caught. Their little chats turned into something that she had never imagined, they both learned about their cultures and their worlds. Soon, Tsubaki became Hitoshi’s teacher of the fae world.
“You know it’s probably bad and shit that you’ve been stuck staring into space for the past hour, right?”
Tsubaki looked to her side, it was Bakugou. He was a fellow fae, an elemental fae, his element was fire but he liked to show it off in form of explosions, something that no fae has ever done before. Then again, Bakugou liked to outdo everyone he ever met.
“I’m just thinking, hot head.”
His face scrunched up and raising an eyebrow, “Care to elaborate on what?”
Tsubaki sigh, a frown formed then looked away from her companion. “I saw them today- the evergrows.”
The evergrows were fae flowers that looked like small sunflowers, that grew where they buried their dead. Tsubaki had one there among here ancestors, one that meant a lot to her.
Katsuki’s expression soften, he knew what she was thinking, he too went there when nothing made sense. When the world was going haywire around him and he just needed someone to listen without saying anything.
“What are you thinking about?”
His red as ruby eyes stared at her, trying to decipher her quiet thoughts. her lavender ones looked back up at him, slightly saddened by what she was about to reveal.
“I can’t see Hitoshi anymore, it’s too dangerous to be around him. Mother said humans mustn’t be trusted, their only bad luck for our kind.” She spoke softly, her eyes building up with tears but wiped them away before they could be let loose.
Katsuki frowned, scoffing. It was unbelievable that the girl infront of him was listening to her mother, it was the first time that he heard her so serious about something like this. Hitoshi from what he had seen was her person- that one person that she couldn’t be apart from and for her to say this must have been hard.
“All of a sudden, you’re listening to your old hag? Pretty pathetic if you ask me.”
Tsubaki laughed at the male, wrapping her arms around herself as if to embrace herself from harm. “It is, bu-“
She was cut off as she heard someone screaming their names.
“Tsubaki, Katsuki, yo-you you have to see the evergrows fields!” A bright red haired male yelled as he landed onto the ground beneath him, he was out of breath, as his dragon like wings retracted into his shoulder blades.
Tsubaki’s face paled as she didn’t wait for anyone to speak. Wings came from between her shoulder blades, their design was one of dragonflies.
“Come on!” Katsuki snarled out at the red head as he followed her lead.
“But father, you mustn’t! The Fae-“ The small male was cut off by a taller male slamming his palm on the wooden table.
“Enough Shoto! I will not listen to you mention those scum!” The older male’s face never lost his frown. His tone wasn’t one to be questioned against.
”Those flowers-“
”Are worth more than you and I, they’re in high demand among the rich the ultimate taboo.”
Shoto ran his fingers through his duel colored hair as his hetrochromic eyes held distaste for his father in front of him.
“You’ll start a new war.”
“I’d like to see them try.”
“Izuku?”
“Oh hey Todo-San, what can I do for you today.” The cheery greenette answered with a bright smile.
“The evergrows flowers-“
”How do you know about them?” He asked wearily. No one was supposed to know about them especially humans, it was something Katsuki trusted him with, their own secret.
“Just listen to me, get to the fields, take Shinsou with you. Hurry! We need to stop what is to come from happening!”
Izuku hung up as quickly as he could and called Shinsou as he ran out the door.
Tsubaki arrived at the fields, everything was going nothing left except some petals and leaves. Her heart stopped, she slowly knelt down to pick up the petals and some trampled flowers on the ground.
“They left nothing.” Her voice broke, there was nothing in her tone- no hope, no happiness... nothing.
Katsuki was the first to land his hawk like wings folded behind him, he felt as if he couldn’t breathe. Thousands of loved ones, thousands of memories from their passed elders, their ancestors all gone with nothing to show they were buried there except a root.
“How could they be so heartless?” Tsubaki turned to Katsuki, her expression void of emotions. “How could they do this?” Her voice was the first to betray her once more.
“Kacchan-!”
Tsubaki turned around and saw the two humans that brought them joy, running to meet them.
“NO.” Tsubaki held out a hand, griping air she pulled her hand down, that swift movement caused vines to wrap around the two males and hold them in place before they could step foot into the clearing of the field.
“Your kind did this.” Katsuki quietly let out as he stared blankly into nothing.
“Bakugou, Tsubaki! We swear that we didn’t know this would happened! Todoroki called Izuku and told him what happened! It was Enji Todoroki who did this but starting a war is what they want! Don’t give it to them!” The purple haired male was the first to speak as he tried to pull the vines off his legs.
“There won’t be a war.” Tsubaki spoke, her tone deadly quiet, a smirk slowly slid onto her lips. Turning away from the two humans trying to do damage control. “Eijiro, Katsuki.”
Katsuki’s expression didn’t break from the cold it became and the red head, now named Eijiro, gave a nod waiting for her response.
“They won’t get war. War means a fighting chance for the opposing side, this will be a massacre.” Her eyes quickly flashing white with fury. “Get everyone and we head to Todoroki Industries, now.”
“Sir, there’s been sightings of fae coming this way!” An intern came into the office. She was out of breath from running to the last floor as soon as she heard the news.
Enji or Endeavor as they called him, only chuckled and dialed his phone.
“It’s time.”
That saying, ‘Hell hath no fury like a woman’s scorn.’ Was about to get a true as it could ever get.
Tsubaki saw red the minute she had ordered for everyone to follow her to the human capital of their worlds.
Katsuki was still quiet but you could feel the anger rolling off of him in tsunami waves. His eyes still blank, not knowing what to fee however it was very clear that Todoroki had to pay for desecrating and disrespect against his kind.
When they finally landed outside of the building they were met with silver dust. She could hear her kind hiss out in pain as it burned their skin. Tsubaki winced and growled out, with a flick of her wrist she used a vine to whip the humans who hurt them against the concrete building.
“Jus Drein, Jus Daun!” Tsubaki spoke in fae tongue. “Enji Todoroki, you crossed many lines before but to destroy our ancestors resting place, that is an act of war!!”
“You really think you scare me, little girl? Please, my four times great-grandfather was part of the army that won the first war, his blood is mine. I will win!” Enji Todoroki’s voice boomed throughout the air as he stood surrounded but his own army. “You are no match for me!” His laughter roared.
It was Katsuki's turn to let out a growl this time. “That’s because they held back this time we won’t be gentle!” His hands already lighting up with sparks, wanting to be let out and light the sky up.
“Stop this! Please! Tsubaki if you start this, there’s no turning back!” Hitoshi's voice rang throughout the sea of both fae and human alike. Tsubaki almost broke through her cold facade when he spoke.
“Please Kacchan! Listen to Hitoshi, there will be no peace if you through the first punch! That’s exactly what they want!” Izuku yelled out after Hitoshi.
Muttering was heard from the fae folk who were divided of their decision to fight or back down.
“They destroyed our field, they violated our lands...they can’t go unpunished.”
”And they won’t, I promise.” Another voice rang through, a gasp was heard from endeavor.
”Shoto.”
“I warned you that this was to happen if you touched their lands without the government’s permission. You wanted to start a war and for what?” His cold stoic voice turned into a hardened angered one.
”I did it for your moth-“
”DO. NOT. use my mother as an excuse for your shit. In case you forgot to mention this to anyone here, mother isn’t sick because of the fae, she’s sick because she is of fae!” There were gasps throughout both sides.
“What?” Tsubaki was the first to speak.
“My mother was ripped away from her home by my father who wanted to see what kind of hybrid offspring humans and fae could have. My eldest brother Touya died due to the fact that his fae magic wasn’t compatible with his human body. After that my other two siblings were human, he hated that. Mother started getting sick soon after I was born because-“
“Fae blood and Human blood don’t mix as well if the fae isn’t-“ Katsuki was cut off.
”Consenting to the mating.” Tsubaki finished for him.
“Exactly. Enji Todoroki, you should be under arrest for what you did to Reí!” Shoto screamed out, tears slowly coming down his cheeks. “You bastard! You broke her and now you want to act like this is all for her when she hates your existence and wishes you were dead every day!”
Tsubaki was left in awe as she saw Shoto extend his arms out as if to protect them, all of her kind.
“If you wish to harm them, then you’ll harm me as well! Do your worst endeavor!”
Her peoples’ eyes widened, including hers and Katsuki’s at his proclamation.
“Shoto, move. I’ll deal with you later. Move.”
“No!”
“SHOTO.”
Tsubaki was in shock watching the scene unfold. A Todoroki was standing up for her kind. Soon, a woman with a large black ponytail held out her hands as well infront of them as if shielding them too.
”Momo?” Shoto whispered in suprise.
“Enough is enough! We fought to have freedom only to strip it from someone else! How is that fair!?” Mono yelled out, standing her ground, not phased by the others closing in.
Slowly, the two were joined by Hitoshi and Izuku, a bubbly girl with brown hair, a male with blue hair and glasses and so on and so forth many stood up for them and shielded them from Todoroki sr. They made a shield around them.
“Your move Enji!” Katsuki smirked, laughing at the older male, waiting for him to attack so he could pounce.
Enji Todoroki, stood in awe, he was weighing his options. But in the end he saw that it was futile to attack.
“You haven’t won yet.”
”Watch your back, next I’ll have your head on a pike.” Tsubaki growled out.
Things had gotten better, it had been nearly 5 years since their stand off with Todoroki. Many of the laws had changed including the law against fae/human relationships, and they were now truly at peace with each other.
Katsuki and Izuku had finally gotten together and were able to live with each other, they were now dating for three years officially.
Tsubaki and Hitoshi were engaged after four years of dating and with a child along the way, she was almost six months along and her wedding was in less then a two years aways.
Shoto and Momo were married and running Todoroki Industries since his father had ran into hiding after being exposed for raping and abusing Reí, his now ex wife. Momo and Shoto were now helping the fight for new laws for fae folk to have more rights now.
And lastly, after Rei had gotten her divorce and pressed charges against Enji, she returned to the fae world where she was finally able to reunite with her family and friends she had been stripped away from when she had been younger. She was proud of her Shoto for standing for what was right and soon introduced her kids with their other half of their blood.
