Chapter 1
I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. I reached out, my eyes still heavy with sleep as I searched for my phone.
Without looking at the contact, I picked the phone up, which of course turned out to be a huge mistake.
'This is Kim Dokja. Who is calling me so early in the morning?' My voice was scratchy and a few pitches lower than it usually was.
Damn I sound fine as hell right now. My thoughts were interrupted by a yell from the other end of the phone.
'It’s 13:06, you ugly squid! Come to Olympus’ Nectar at XXX time.'
It took me a few seconds to recognise who it was in my sleep deprived state. No explanation. No nothing. It was just like my best friend to do that.
'Han Sooyoung, I’m not wasting my weekend on drinking at a bar with you—'
'—Wasting? You are blessed to be friends with me. Who wouldn’t be? Also, Yoo Junghyuk will be there. Bring Yoo Sangha if you can— No you MUST.Actually, screw that, whenever I ask you for something, you won’t do it.' Sounds like someone else I know. 'If Yoo Sangha is not there, I’ll unleash a drunk Yoo Junghyuk on you.'
'No, wait, I never agreed to tha—'
'Remember: It’s at 9 at Olympus’ Nectar. You better bring Sangha.'
'Wait—'
Han Sooyoung ended the call.
I tried to message her but my messages weren’t going through. She must have blocked me.
I sighed. What a horrible way to start my day.
I kicked the blanket off myself and got up from my bed.
I should take a shower..hmmmm..
If Yoo Jung hyuk’s coming, maybe I could go too..
Nah it’s not worth it. All that guy does is glare at me like I personally made his life a living hell or something. But somehow him doing that was also annoyingly attractive.
No Kim Dokja, Stop thinking right now. You are not going. Now get in the shower and get on with your day.
I tied my apron around my waist. It was my turn to serve the customers. The bell rang as the door was opened and someone walked in.
'Hello! What can I get for you tod-' I stopped my sentence midway. The person standing in front of me was none other than-
'Yoo Sangah-ssi! What a surprise seeing you here!'
I gave her a genuine smile which she returned with a kind one.
'I don’t have much to do this weekend. I was just taking a walk around the area when I thought I’d visit the cafe instead of roaming around with no purpose.'
I led her over to one of the empty tables. She started asking about my day when the bell rang again.
Turning around I saw THE MOST BEAUTIFUL, JAW DROPPING, MOST AMAZING MAN IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSE walk in.
'DOKJA-SSI!' He turned around surprised when he heard his name. When he saw me he gave me a smile that had me mentally clutching my heart. How could someone so perfect exist?!
'Uriel, are you working full time today?' He asked as he walked over to us. I nodded my head.
'pfft- '
I looked around, Sangha-ssi was quietly giggling.
'Uriel-ssi, you’re adorable.'
My face heated up at the compliment and my heart started beating against my rib-cage.
'Ah, Sangha-ssi, You also happen to be here.'
Dokja-ssi gave her a pleasantly surprised look. Sangha-ssi laughed and started asking Dokja-ssi how his day had gone so far.
'I just woke up some time ago,' He seemed embarrassed when he admitted to sleeping late but Sangha-ssi just smiled and comforted him.
'URIEL, YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE WORKING!' Some annoying pest screamed from the kitchen.
'SHUT UP, CAN’T YOU SEE DOKJA-SSI IS HERE???' She screamed back to her boss.
'Uh, Uriel-ssi, shouldn’t you…listen??' Dokja-sii asked.
'No, no, it’s completely fine!!' She assured the man with a smile.
'IT’S NOT COMPLETELY FINE, IF YOU DON’T WORK I’M NOT PAYING YOU!!!'
'The birds are making a lot of noise recently, aren’t they?' Uriel asked.
'Uh..'
'Gotta call the pest control!!'
‘Pest control doesn't deal with birds Uriel-ssi.’ Sangha-ssi said with her usual smile. Sometimes I forgot how sadistic Unnie could actually get.
I sighed and got them both to sit down in the booth. I asked them their orders.
‘Can I have salted caramel cream coffee?’
‘I’d like some normal coffee please. Black.’
I put the numbers into the register and started making their orders.
‘So, Sangha-ssi, Han Sooyoung told me she’s having a bar party thing. She told me to bring you along.’
‘Oh, did she, now?’
‘She also said if I don’t bring you along she will ‘unleash a drunk Yoo Junghyuk’ on me.’
Sangha- ssi looked at him and smirked.
‘Wouldn’t you like that though?’
I put the two cups of coffee on my tray and headed back to them.
Sangha-ssi looked up at me and smiled.
‘Uriel-ssi, don’t you think Dokja-ssi and Junghyuk-ssi make a good pair?’
I almost dropped my tray from excitement. Calming myself, I put the tray down on the table.
‘Of course they do. Do you have any idea how many fanfictions I’ve written about them on Ao3?’
Kim Dokja put his face in his hands and let out a small embarrassed groan.
‘I’d forgotten about that..’
We laughed. Or at least Yoo Sangha and I did. Poor Dokja-ssi just looked embarrassed.
‘Sure I’ll come. Even if it’s just to see you get jumped by a drunk Yoo Junghyuk.’
I tied the apron around my waist. People were slowly starting to spill in since the sun was setting outside and the night was slowly creeping in.
I picked up an old but clean rag and got straight to cleaning the glasses.
It was starting to get late when I noticed my friends walking in. Han Sooyoung came in first, dragging in an angry Yoo Junghyuk with her. She brought him up to the seats in front of me and sat down.
‘...’
Han Sooyoung patted the seat beside her.
‘Sit down~ He’ll be here anytime.’
‘Who? Kim Dokja?’
I smirked at both of them. Han Sooyoung and I shared a look of understanding. We grinned and looked at Yoo Junghyuk who seemed frozen, half about to sit down and half about to snap at Han Sooyoung and leave.
‘Shut up..’
He decided to stay and sat down next to Han Sooyoung who started laughing.
‘I knew you couldn’t resist him. Simp.’
Yoo Junghyuk glared at her and then looked at me. Keeping a stoic face he ordered a Margarita. I smiled at him.
‘Coming right up. Don’t get too drunk though, you might end up regretting it later.’
He got drunk.
By the time Kim Dokja and Yoo Sangha finally walked in, Yoo Junghyuk was already wasted. Han Sooyoung sitting next to him kept interrupting me in my work.Asking about me and Lee Hyunsung. I shut her off.
Kim Dokja spotted us and waved. Yoo Sangha standing next to him just smiled and walked towards us. I waved back and motioned at Yoo Junghyuk who had kept his head on the table, completely wasted.
He glanced at Yoo Jung Hyuk and looked back at me. He smiled sheepishly and sat down on the other side of Han Sooyounng.
Han Sooyoung spotted Yoo Sangha and started acting like an idiot in love, which she was. I just smiled. Tonight was going to be fun. Fun in the way that meant that there was going to be teasing not one, but two little shits as a couple. Kim Dokja and Han Sooyoung were both such huge simps, it was hard for me to not start laughing the second I saw them.
Han Sooyoung got up and grabbed Yoo Sangha’s hand.
‘Come dance.’ She said with a grin.
‘For your sake I hope you don’t fall for me.’ Yoo Sangha replied.
I grinned.
‘She’s already done that.’
Yoo Sangha looked back and smiled at me.
‘Of course, she has Jung Huiwon-ssi. It is pretty hard not to.’
She then turned back to Han Sooyoung who had turned into a blushing stuttering mess.
When my attention turned back to the two in front of me, I saw such a stupid scene, it made me want to quit my job. At least the other two were outright flirting, these two were literally refusing to talk to each other and still expected a miracle to happen.
Well all of that was none of my business, if they refused to talk to each other then I wasn’t going to be their chaperone. With that I put two bottles of soju in front of Kim Dokja, told him to get drunk and walked away.
Looking back, Coming here was a horrible idea. I knew I should have just stayed at home. At least then I would be able to catch up on all the webnovels I was reading. But here I was sitting one seat away from a very drunk and admittedly handsome Yoo Junghyuk.
I searched the dance floor for Han Sooyoung, after all she was the one who invited me here, she couldn’t just leave me… She already left me. I spotted Han Sooyoung and Yoo Sangha dancing together to one of the more slow and romantic songs, they looked like they were having a lot of fun.
Just because I wasn’t having fun didn’t mean I was going to ruin someone else's night for them.
‘Kim Dokja…You're such an idiot.’
Or maybe it did. She invited me here, she should take responsibility for me too.
I tore my gaze away from the dance floor and looked at Yoo Junghyuk.
He was already looking at me. My heart started pounding and I hurriedly picked up one of the soju bottles.
Pouring it into a glass I took a sip as Yoo Junghuk started speaking again.
‘You’re an idiot, Kim Dokja.’
‘You’ve already mentioned that, you sunfish.’
‘A very lovable idiot.’
I choked on my drink. My head snapped around to stare at him. WHAT DID HE JUST SAY.
‘What..?’
‘You’re so pretty but you still seem to think that you’re ugly. And your eyes look like they hold galaxies inside them, I could look into them for hours. And when smile, like smile smile, you look like an angel sent from heaven just for me-’
I put my hand on his mouth to shut him up because WHAT THE ABSOLUTE FUCK . I was dimly aware of the heat rushing up to my face.
‘What the hell are you saying?!’ I blurted out while panicking internally.
Yoo Junghyuk stared dead into my eyes while removing my hand from his mouth and bringing it up to his cheeks. He nuzzled his face into my hands while continuing to stare at me. I was now fully aware of my face heating up like an oven.
‘You look so pretty when you’re flustered. I wonder if you’ll look that pretty when you’re under me.’
I pulled my hand away instantly. I could see the hurt in his eyes which quickly turned into impatience as he watched me grab the soju bottle and drink down the rest of it in two gulps.
‘Okay, let’s go,’ I said while getting up from my seat. I could feel myself getting light-headed (drunk) as I grabbed his hand and pulled him out of the bar with me.
I was already fucked the moment I stepped into the bar with Yoo Sangha any way.
