Kota Kontepi was born in New Washington at the height of it's reign as The Foreign Settlement Regime. His mother, now deceased, worked at the Wild Times brothel up until she was raped and murdered by Harvey Kreig, son of Lieutenant General Kreig of the Foreign Settlement Regime's armed forces. The loss of his mother would ultimately dictate Kota's choice to enlist with the United Foreign Legion.
- The United Interspecies Legion was a joint forces militia of native Harmonites and various defector groups of the human species which prior refused to recognize the authority of the United Nations Empire and would later break away entirely. The Interspecies Foreign Legion was comprised of many clans, tribes, kingdoms and empires all native to Harmony as well as the various groups of human defectors.
Kota graduated from basic training with flying colors and, during his enrollment, had already achieved the rank of private lieutenant. In the following months, Kota would demonstrate incredible dedication both to his fellow soldiers and to his kindred. Several days prior to Operation Maelstrom, Kota Kontepi would achieve the rank of Major Petty Officer. He would also be granted command over a small platoon; 5th Battalion, 2nd Platoon and report directly to Lieutenant Major Kanzaki Kazuragi.
In the following operation, Kota Kontepi would lead his platoon to flank the main enemy force, targeting their electrical grid. Under express command from Kanzaki Kazuragi, Kota Kontepi would then lead his platoon to target and successfully assassinate Lieutenant General Krieg but at a cost. Under heavy fire, Kota Kontepi lost nearly half his platoon and received a near fatal injury to his respiratory atrium. Had the main force breached the command center any later, Kota and his entire platoon would have surely died. In the aftermath of Operation Maelstrom, Kota Kontepi was rewarded the Silver Cross and promoted to Master Chief Petty Officer.
Kota Kontepi, after recovering from his injuries, would be reassigned to the Shadow Hunter Division.
