Friday night Football
Grace really wanted to be a supportive parent. She of course watched spars and training sessions when her kids were younger, (at least, when she wasn’t busy) but that wasn’t what you’d consider normal. That’s why she wanted to be as involved as possible in Lada’s activities.
Enter the marching band. Lada didn’t really participate in sports. That doesn’t mean she wasn’t active, she did plenty at home, she just didn’t like organized sports. What she did like, however, was music. She played the trombone and really enjoyed herself with it.
Grace had never watched a football game, but it intrigued her. Diego talks about it a lot and seemed to really like it, so he went with her. Grace was familiar with sports because Reginald greatly enforced competition. That, however was for competition’s own sake, not recreation.
Exactly 23 minutes before the game started. Diego suggested they sit towards the front, to quote, “Things get sketchier the higher up you go.”
After a few minutes, the band filed onto the field and started playing. Lada said this was called the pre-game show. Grace thoroughly enjoyed this. She had seen marching bands on the television, but never before in real life. They played the same song they did at the beginning as the players ran onto the field . She’d have to ask Lada about that.
The game was entertaining enough. She asked Diego a few questions throughout to make sure what was going on. She thought it was alright, she just didn’t like the violence. After 30 minutes, a loud buzzer goes off. She smiles slightly as the band comes back on the field.
They played songs from various movies for a few minutes until the players got back out to the field. The band slowly filed out, headed back to the school. Lada stayed back for a minute, which made Grace confused. Diego and Grace followed Lada. Turns out she was waiting for a girl with a saxophone. They held hands on the way back.
She’d have to ask about that, too
