The Exam
Today was the preliminary licensing exam. Izuku was brimming with excitement along with their classmates. They couldn’t wait to meet everyone and see new quirks at work. They couldn’t wait to show off some of what they’d learn. Unfortunately, Aizawa—Sensei had told them to limit it to quirks they could pass off as energy manipulation.
This was the official description since neither U.A. nor the hero commission wanted the villains to know about their quirk. Still, they were excited to start the exercise, excited to put their quirks to use and try some combo moves.
When the signal to start went off, Izuku manipulated the earth to block/absorb the incoming balls. Since the earth held energy, she could pass off earth beast as manipulation.
“What the hell? None of them had earth manipulation at the festival.” Shindo Yo shouted.
“What the fuck Eraser.” Joke swore at the tired man, who merely grinned in response.
“Problem child can stockpile and manipulate energy. This was a recent discovery, which is why your kids didn’t see it coming.” Aizawa explained, there was a reason he didn’t warn his kids. He had confidence they would make it through the first round.
‘Everyone break up into the teams we worked on back at campus,’ Izuku sent to their classmates, grinning as they broke up.
Team Alpha was Uraraka, Sero, and Jirou. Beta was Mina, Shouji, and Tokoyami. Gamma was Ojirou, Hagakure, and Aoyama. Explosion was Katsuki, Kaminari, and Kirishima. Creati was Momo, Todoroki, and Tenya. Grape was Mineta, Sato, and Koda. Finally, they and Tsu were team Froppy.
Alpha was busy catching the balls and returning fire. Beta worked on the defense, making sure the other competitors didn’t get past Izuku’s earth wall. Gamma and explosion were charging through the competition to knock out as many as they could. Creati was busy defending Momo while she made false targets and handed them out. Grape acted as a distraction while collecting any stray balls. Finally, team Froppy was in charge of creating strategy and defense while keeping an eye out.
The teams were working flawlessly until the ground shook. It was so sudden Izuku was unable to think properly to create a new defense. They would have thought it was an earthquake if they hadn’t felt a new quirk entering into their deck. At least that’s what Monoma called it when explaining how he shifted between quirks so flawlessly.
Izuku cursed as they were separated from their friends. Looks like they would need to execute plan B. They searched the field for targets before dodging out of the way of a Shiketsu student. They didn’t know why but there was something off about this girl.
“Hee—hee, you could tell I was behind you. Not many people can.” She said before disappearing in thin air. Izuku sensed them once again before they attempted another attack with a…knife. Oh fuck, please don’t let it be who they thought it was.
“Toga,” They called, seeing the girl go stock still before grinning at them and dropping their transformation.
“Wow, not even her own ‘friends’ could tell I wasn’t her, but you could. You really are so cool, Izu—chan” Toga purred before launching at Izuku to slice their cheek.
“Hold still! I just need some of your blood.” Toga narrowed her eyes in frustration as Izuku continued to dodge her knife.
“DEKU,” Uraraka screamed in fear for her friend. They really were villain catnip, weren’t they?
“Shit, Uraraka duck,” Izuku jumped in front of Toga’s thrown knife, giving her a chance to cut and lick their cheek.
Izuku felt as transformation was added to their deck. Which great except now Toga could become them. There was no telling what they might do. Nor was there telling what sort of drawbacks their quirk might cause. So far, any quirk that required blood also required blood to be a part of their diet. Though it may explain Toga’s obsession and why she seems so crazy.
“Thanks for the blood Izu—Kun, but I gotta run now.” Toga grinned before disappearing once more
“Deku—Kun, are you sure you didn’t copy a villain attraction quirk,” Uraraka asked.
“Pretty sure, and I’ve checked at least ten different times.” They whined in dismay.
“I know, let’s just hurry up and pass this test, ok?” Uraraka comforted her friend.
“Yeah, then we can worry about the League.” Izuku agreed before launching themselves into the fray.
